Re: [Mission 13] Ghost Towns

Takeyu gave a nod and repurposed one of his drones, which had just been coming out of a nearby building. The drone stopped momentarily, spun around, then flew off to the south and toward the building that Snue had pointed out. "Sending drone to have a look, will keep him out of the building though," commented the tech.

He raised his weapon when he saw one parasite and fired, but then ducked and fired off another shot at another parasite that he caught out of the corner of his eye.

Re: [Mission 13] Ghost Towns

Ramiro grinned as the sniper showed himself. He had hoped that showing himself would draw the sniper out. After ducking behind some cover to avoid being hit he glanced around his cover back at the building. "Gotcha..." He whispered to himself as he popped up and fired towards the window.

Re: [Mission 13] Ghost Towns

With the drone data available, Helen spotted her target as she decided the best course of action of how to take him out, without using any of the high-energy output systems which would turn the home into a conflagration, which would likely spread to the rest of the suburb. Her solution was direct and to the point, as she slipped her NSP back into the yarvex strip which held it in place against her armor. Her hand went to the other strip, which held a knife. With weapon in hand, she evaluated the feel of the floor, before she slammed her Kylie's foot down in a series of brutal stomps.

CRACK that was the sound she wanted, as the floor gave way and she dropped down in front of the parasite infected sniper turned arsonist. With a swift motion of her hand, she swung the knife with the intention of severing her target's arm at the shoulder, while she reached out with the intent of grabbing the parasite infected body, to hold it in place as she did her butcher work.

Re: [Mission 13] Ghost Towns

Seeing Takeyu dispatch his drone reminded Reika of her own suits capabilities. She instructed her armor to dispatch the two tactical drones that were part of her suits complement of equipment and aid the technicians in scouting the structures to the south.

"Aye sir." Reika responded to Sune's new orders. She followed his progress in retracing the parasites path to their point of origin, continuing to open fire upon another pair of the small, deadly creatures as they came into her weapons range.

Re: [Mission 13] Ghost Towns

Closer inspection revealed most of the zombies were armed with everything from mops to machine guns and grenades. They were a random mixed group, with kids, the elderly, and some UOCPF soldiers all bloodied with parasite impact and entry wounds. Now that a gunship and away team had arrived, the zombies were starting to take cover and/or fall back. In their power armor the away team was at minimal risk.

"I want technicians to restore power to the high school using one of the ship's portable aether generators," Hanako directed. She also sent the TASHA out to patrol the school perimeter. "We will set up a small base of operations here and then call for reinforcements to individually search houses. SAINT has info on Koharu's residence. A group of us needs to start heading that way."

Re: [Mission 13] Ghost Towns

While the others tidied up their zombie mess in short order, Helen decided to carry out some 'practice' as she slipped her knife between the shoulder joint of the infested Jiyuuian. With power armor augmented strength, she parted the limb from body, disarming the arsonist of their fire starting implement. With a firm grip on the Jiyuuian, she pinned him down before going to work. It was grizzly, and messy, and she felt a bit better afterwards as she left the house after turning the gas off, dripping Jiyuuian hemosynth before she flew back to the Eucharis.

"I'll help look for Koharu ma'am. Though, what do we do if Koharu does not want to cooperate?" Helen asked, curious about the matter. Sure, Koharu was technically part of the royal family, but she also left the Empire, and that raised questions within the SAINT agent about the validity of their objective. "More so, what if we encounter other parties interested in Koharu?"

Re: [Mission 13] Ghost Towns

Takeyu came to stop, firing off a few shots at a nearby parasite before turning toward Sune. "Sir, I do believe we have no available techs right now, other than Cherry-heisho who is currently handling engineering. Want me to head back and take care of the high schools power problems?" he asked cautiously as he scanned the area for more hostiles.

Re: [Mission 13] Ghost Towns

"See to the power problem with the High School, we will need that to serve as a staging area. Tachihara-Hei and I will find and destroy the source of the parasites.

It looks like they are coming from that warehouse. We will go in, sweep the structure and see what we find."

Re: [Mission 13] Ghost Towns

"Aye Taii," commented Takeyu as he backed away from the group and looked around for a moment, he then spun around and started running back toward the Eucharis. He kept one of his drones with Sune to keep an eye out and look. "Taii? One of my drones is staying with you, use it however you feel sir," he reported.

His other two drones he kept nearby to watch for hostiles, as he made his way back, he kept an eye out for potential hostiles before making a leap onto the ramp of the Eucharis.

Heading toward the cargohold, he pulled out a portable aetheric generator and, using one hand to grip his rifle, he quickly made his way back out. "Ma'am, Nayacesen-Juni here, in the process of restoring power to the high school. Jalen-Taii authorized my request to return to handle this task."

Re: [Mission 13] Ghost Towns

"Right, sir." Reika said, confirming Sune's instructions. She made her way with Sune towards the building he indicated -- firing upon the enemy parasites and the odd zombified individual that was vacating the structure in order to reinforce their allies. Whilst the pair fought their way towards the entrance, Reika instructed one of her drones to scout the perimeter for additional entrances, and the other she tried sending through the front door in order to gauge the strength of their defenses.

"I'm sending my armors drones in ahead of us to check the building out -- just so we know how much hurt we're in for." Said the Neko operative to Yamataian executive officer telepathically.

Re: [Mission 13] Ghost Towns

The zombies continued to slowly clear out of the Eucharis' area, avoiding contact with the away team when possible, and seeking softer and more helpless targets, although most zombies were armed and they would shoot any drones they encountered.

The Telemachus returned after a few minutes to being another load of locals up to Leo Star Fortress.

"Try to avoid killing anyone where possible. The parasite hold can be cured for many of them and we do not know who has mental backups," Hanako told Helen. "Koharu does not have a choice. If she refuses to leave, please stun her and extract her."

Re: [Mission 13] Ghost Towns

High School

Takeyu looked around for a few moments, checking hte outside of the school's perimter for a few. Everything that a high school needed was in plain view, but he couldn't help but shake his head in disgust. "All of the hard work these people put into creating their communities, this city, all gone to waste thanks to these blasted parasites and the NMX. Once this war ends, there's going to be a lot of cleaning up to do," he commented as he walked along a gravel path before finding a power box.

He was on the east side, and knelt down in front of the box and ran his gloved hand over it before glancing at the main power cable that ran into the box. He carefully removed it, then plugged the portable aether generator into it and looked around cautiously.

With a nod of the head, and noticing that the zombies had been backing off a bit, he turned the generator on. "Shosho? Portable Generator is online, school should be powered up. What are you orders ma'am?" he said and stood up, holding his rifle in both hands while watching the area for any other hostiles, or any parasites that may attempt to attack.

His gauss cannon was pivoting from side to side, still searching for a target.

Re: [Mission 13] Ghost Towns

"Shosho, request confirmation that if Koharu is uncooperative, you have authorized involuntary abduction as a viable course of action." Helen said, her tone entirely business now. She did not want internal investigations climbing up her ass if this situation spun out of control. "Furthermore, request clarification of our rules of engagement; is authorization given to neutralize opposition which may prevent us from seizing Koharu?" Her question made her stomach churn, what it came down to, was if she was authorized to possibly start a shooting war over someone who may not even want to be picked up.

Re: [Mission 13] Ghost Towns

Once he had dealt with the remaining snipers that he could find Ramiro ducked down and jogged over towards Helen. "I'll help you with the extraction ma'am. Knowing the history of this guy, there are probably gonna be dozens of hostiles swarming this sector. You're going to need all the help you can get." With a quick motion Ramiro spun around and fired at an enemy soldier that he had seen out of the corner of his eye before dropping back down behind his cover.

Re: [Mission 13] Ghost Towns

Reika's and Sune's drones showed that same information as they advanced into the interior.

In the center of the room was a large sealed glass tank filled with a greenish liquid. A number of objects swam about within the tank. Connected to the tank were an assortment of machines and pumps. One appeared to be pumping nutrients into the tank.

A number of slaves under the instruction of a pair of armed NMX Soldiers in their khaki uniforms; tended to the machines. A pair of them would open up a portal in the top of the tank, and release a batch of mature parasites.

"Tachira-Hei, you take out the soldiers, I will see about the tank." He said to Reika.

Re: [Mission 13] Ghost Towns

"It is for her own safety. The orders to evacuate these systems comes from the Empress herself," Hanako reminded Helen. "You are authorized to engage any interfering force with the minimum necessary force."

One of the shuttles (NG-X1-408-8) landed outside the bay and opened its rear hatch. Hanako ran from the cargo bay into the shuttle and went to see Blueberry in the cockpit. "We have the coordinates of her residence from SAINT," she said, speaking loudly over the hum of the shuttle's engines. "It is a good place to start looking for her."

Re: [Mission 13] Ghost Towns

While Takeyu awaited new orders, he decided to back off a bit to cover the shuttles. He repurposed his two drones then deployed his final one and set them up in a triangular fashion, to better located incoming NMX whether they were parasites or soldiers.

Thinking to himself, he sent:

Code:
Shosho? Do you want me to set up any CRDM's?

Then, he got to work setting up some cover, moving tables and debris to block the line of fire of any possible weapons from hitting the shuttles when they landed.

While he worked, he thought about what he could do further to help improve this areas protection. He wished they had automated turrets, would make defending the area better. Hmmm.... I think next time I'll look into possibly developing a turret that can be unmanned and defend a small area, at the very least, it'll be enough to protect backup to anyone in the area.

Re: [Mission 13] Ghost Towns

Reika activated her Daisy's stealth armor and active camouflage prior to the when she and Sune entered the structure. Whilst she maneuvered herself into firing position to snipe one of the NMX soldiers with her rifle, she instructed her five-inch tactical drone hovering silently near the buildings ceiling to take aim at the other with its pulse laser.

Kneeling down behind some empty containers, she pointed her weapon at the enemies unarmored head. Reika then sent a telepathic communique to Sune. "In position, Taii. Engaging the soldiers now." Reika's fingered pulled back slightly on the trigger, and her LASR released a high-explosive incendiary round at supersonic speed. Simultaneously, her tactical drone opened fire with its pulse laser, sending a steady stream of light towards the other NMX neko's torso.

Re: [Mission 13] Ghost Towns

Sune made his way to the other side of the warehouse. Once in position he targeted the support equipment for the tank. Sune took a moment to look at the Zombies, these ones were in the advanced stages and several were already sprouting the start of tentacles.
He brought his Ke-M2-W2905 online and locked in on the primary components of the tank. Meanwhile he charged his left forearm weapon for beam mode. His plan was simple destroyed the support devices, then blow the tank. That way he would prevent them from making more as well as killing the current batch.

Upon receiving Reika's transmission, "Roger that" he sent via suit radio. His Gauss cannon belched a three round burst that destroyed the the circulation and feeding system . At the same moment the he fired the forearm weapon. The deadly beam lanced the tank causing the fluid it struck to boil and turn to steam.

-------------------------------------------

Reika's first shot was rewarded with the NMX soldier's head exploding in a mass of hemosynth fluid and gray brain matter. The kill was so sudden that it took a moment for the body to fall.

Her drone attack struck the other Neko full in the chest, while it was trying to dodge. This had the effect of slicing the soldier in two.

---------------------------------------------

The lid to the tank ripped off its hinges as the boiling liquid forced its way out, scalding the Zombies to death.

"Ok, we need to finish off the Zombies, they are too far gone for medical treatment, and we need to make sure all the parasites are dead." He said switching to his LASR as he opened fire on the zombies.

Re: [Mission 13] Ghost Towns

Elisto patrolled the area carefully, keeping his eyes on his drones camera images while also watching the shuttles as they went about their work. He could see and hear the Troll near, likewise doing what the Shosho had instructed it to do.

The cover he had set up was now completed, it was enough to give him a defensible fighting position in the event the NMX decided to try and attack.

When he glanced up at the Eucharis, he thought about whether it was safe for the Eucharis to use its turrets groundside, with so many buildings around there were quite a few obstructions, not to mention a miss could result in collateral damage that he wasn't entirely certain would be acceptable or not. Then again, the turrets could still be positioned to cover just the school grounds. Still, it wasn't something he was about to ask the Shosho. He knew that while they may be of use, the risk was just to great, best to save them in the event the NMX really decided to push forward.

Cradling his rifle in his arm, he looked around cautiously, moving from one form of cover to another before checking up on the Aether generator and then headed right on back.
