Re: [Mission 15.1] Gifted
Shuttle
Before the shuttle even fully left the bay, Helen's mind and fingers were quickly at work. Fusion power was reallocated, aether power was shut off, communication systems were set to receive-only, and her efforts continued, as she carried out her emissions blackout as far as she could. What was left was the fusion reactor, internal environmental systems, thrusters, and only a handful of other systems which were absolutely essential. "Emissions blackout in effect, stealth material should conceal our heat and EM signatures." Times like this were the few moments where Helen ever became nervous, ever felt butterflies in her belly, or that uniquely Nepleslian feeling of a sort of weight on the mind and soul. It was the ultimate test of fight-or-flight instinct suppression, to throw ones self into hiding right under the noses of forces which would be able to deliver a death-blow without even making an effort, and being able to keep cool enough to refrain from bolting, or prematurely entering an engagement. One thing was for sure, she was glad not to be in the pilot seat.
