Re: [Mission 15.1] Gifted

Sune watched Bors head to the shuttle bay. He walked over to the shuttle.

"Riko-Hei, Konoka-Hei, you two are both part of Alpha team. We are not taking the shuttle. The shuttle is for Beta team which consists of Klein-Shosa, Nayacesen-Shoi, Tachihara, Kurita-Hei and Hakujou-Juni is their medic. Please group up with the rest of us by the Armor Bay external door." He said, after sticking his head in the shuttle. As he walked back he realized that the other medic had most likely not been notified. Charisma, please notify Hakujou-Juni that she needs to report to Klein-Shosa's team ASAP.

Re: [Mission 15.1] Gifted

Shuttle
"Oh, sorry, Sune-Shosa," Konoka sighed, telling herself to stop worrying and start thinking straight. She should have known better than to follow Bors! He was a confused newbie...she should know better. "Oh, and nice to meet you, Riko- Hei. Let's go," she told Bors and strode out of the shuttle.

Armor Bay

Konoka stood in the Armor Bay next to Sune. "Don't know what I was thinking," she said. Konoka had only just gotten aboard when she volunteered for the mission, and between that and the dilly -dallying she'd done celebrating Yuletide, she'd gotten confused.

"Now I'm ready, though," said Konoka. Or at least, you had better be, Miyazawa! she scolded herself.

Power Armor Bay

Misato watched the other gather and make their final adjustments to their gear, as she waited to start the operation. With the clock ticking closer and closer to go time, felt herself starting to get antsy. She didn’t like the idea of the drop into the area but better to get it done and over with then standing here waiting and thinking about it. Shifting her helmet to her other hand she reached up and scratched her ear.
“Does anyone know when we are supposed to walk out the door?” She smiled as she said this, trying to look calm and collected.

Re: [Mission 15.1] Gifted

Shuttle

Bors gave a nod to the Shosa saying "my apologies sir" and followed Konoka out of the shuttle and into the Armor Bay.

Armor Bay

Bors took off his helmet, which gave a slight pop as the seal broke, and held it under his arm letting his mind wonder for a bit on the mission to come. His first thought was how he was going to get onto the planet’s surface, let alone get back to the ship, as he didn't have any power armor. They could carry me or something he thought letting out a small low chuckle as the image of him piggy backing on one of the smaller crewmembers crossed his mind. Well I’ll solve that problem when it comes Bors thought, checking his weapon for about the fifth time, just to make sure.

Re: [Mission 15.1] Gifted

Bridge

Hanako clenched her hands into fists as she watched the sensor readouts show the rogue Star Army ships were sending dozens of shuttles toward the planet to search it. She gripped the phone again and called the shipwide intercom. "This is the bridge. Be advised: unknown forces have entered the system and are deploying their forces to the planet. They are suspected to be NMX."

Re: [Mission 15.1] Gifted

Shuttle

"Now would be a good time, we can blend in with the signatures of the other shuttles. Takeyu, call up to the bridge, request launch clearance. If we're short anyone aboard, they can jump down to the planet in an armor." Helen said, as she monitored the Eucharis' sensor feed and scowled. It was going to be a messy encounter, that was for sure.

Re: [Mission 15.1] Gifted

Shuttle

"Already called, awaiting clearance right now," responded Takeyu as he looked back at Helen then forward toward his displays. He was pondering who else they were now waiting on, but it wouldn't matter once the bridge gave them clearance.

Re: [Mission 15.1] Gifted

Bridge

"Go ahead, Takeyu," Hanako said over the intercom.

Pineapple, wearing her AMES suit, loudly called out "Airlock cycling!" and then began draining the air from the shuttle bay. After the shuttle bay was a vacuum, she pulled the lever and the large doors at the aft of the ship began to open.

Re: [Mission 15.1] Gifted

Shuttle

"Drive systems powered, all systems good to go, send us out Takeyu." Helen spoke, giving the second go-ahead for the engineer-turned-pilot. As she gave the go ahead, her hands, and mind, were perched over the shuttle controls, ready to rapidly shut down all of the high-output systems of the shuttle so they could be as close to undetectable as possible without leaving their current little piece of the space-time continuum.

Re: [Mission 15.1] Gifted

Shuttle

Takeyu gave a nod as he powered up the shuttle, but not before double checking that the rear hatch was closed, and then swung the shuttle around slowly, when it's nose was pointed out to space, he checked Pineapples location and smiled, then as per Helens instructions, gave the aether thruster a short full burn.

Then he quickly cut them as the shuttle flew out of the bay, keeping an eye on their approuch trejectory as he sent small adjustments to the shuttles thruster system to keep on trejectory. "We are out," he commented and began to shutdown the systems that Helen advised.

Re: [Mission 15.1] Gifted

Shuttle

Before the shuttle even fully left the bay, Helen's mind and fingers were quickly at work. Fusion power was reallocated, aether power was shut off, communication systems were set to receive-only, and her efforts continued, as she carried out her emissions blackout as far as she could. What was left was the fusion reactor, internal environmental systems, thrusters, and only a handful of other systems which were absolutely essential. "Emissions blackout in effect, stealth material should conceal our heat and EM signatures." Times like this were the few moments where Helen ever became nervous, ever felt butterflies in her belly, or that uniquely Nepleslian feeling of a sort of weight on the mind and soul. It was the ultimate test of fight-or-flight instinct suppression, to throw ones self into hiding right under the noses of forces which would be able to deliver a death-blow without even making an effort, and being able to keep cool enough to refrain from bolting, or prematurely entering an engagement. One thing was for sure, she was glad not to be in the pilot seat.

Re: [Mission 15.1] Gifted

Shuttle Bay

As the shuttle engines were fired inside the shuttle bay, the heat and force wrecked it in an immediate and almost comical fashion, burning the paint off the back wall and slamming tool lockers and the remaining shuttles against the sides of the cramped little bay.

The shuttle drifted rapidly towards the planet.

Bridge

Hanako could see fighter pods launching from the enemy ships. They were probably NMX. They were headed for the planet.

Re: [Mission 15.1] Gifted

Ramiro continued to stand in his spot, waiting for their order to deploy. It's a good thing that he was inside armor, or else his impatience would be obvious from his facial expression. What happened to 'time is of essence'? I figured we'd at least be nearing the atmosphere by now.

Re: [Mission 15.1] Gifted

Shuttle

Takeyu continued to maneuver the shuttle, making some corrections as he lined up with the planet for a safe entry. "Shosa, any possibility we've been spotted?" he had a feeling the answer was no, but just in case, he wanted to make certain.

Checking their trejectory a second time, he kept his eyes on the monitors and continued to pilot the craft, it was smooth sailing - then again - he didn't have the aether thrusters on right now, just letting inertia carry them.

Re: [Mission 15.1] Gifted

Akemi too, was eager to get a move on. As she waited to disembark she wondered how the Nepleslian would be accommodated for if he did in fact come with them.

Re: [Mission 15.1] Gifted

As soon as the shuttle's maneuvering controls were touched, the computer warned Takeyu that the captured ship had noticed the energy emission and was now focusing a scan on the shuttle. A group of ten battle pods immediately altered course to intercept. The shuttle was now at a point where the planet was closer than the Eucharis.

Re: [Mission 15.1] Gifted

Shuttle

"We were doing fine." Helen stated flatly, as she sized up the situation. "How long was the thruster burn you just performed?" she asked, as she mulled over what would be the best course of action. "Passive sensors detect incoming... they've caught a bit of our scent." she said, with a touch of annoyance clearly carrying through in her voice; "No thruster corrections until we hit the exosphere. They may lose interest, but if they continue to close in, we're bailing out and going the rest of the way in our armors... now think happy thoughts and keep your hands off the controls for now."

For Helen It was merely a matter of watching the sensors at that point, measuring distance, and referring to her memory of just how sharp the sensors were on the series of captured Yamataian ships which they were faced with. Odds were, they likely just detected a minor thermal disturbance, so far from the atmosphere, it was certainly an attention grabber. She figured the odds were decent that they'd lose interest, but, she also went about grabbing her equipment, ready to leap out of her seat and out of the shuttle.

Re: [Mission 15.1] Gifted

Shuttle

Taking his hands off the console, he mulled what had just happened, and pondered how'd they picked up their trail. "Thruster burn was only for six seconds," he answered as he calculated whether he had actually initiated a too long of a burn, or if its occasional course corrections were the cause. Then again, he wasn't using any of the shuttles high powered systems, all he had used were the maneuvering thrusters to edge the shuttle around, did they actually detect those small bits of thrust?

Regardless, he kept his eyes on the controls, but didn't touch anything.

Re: [Mission 15.1] Gifted

Armor Bay

Sune had been monitoring the activity via his Armor's AIES. The plan was already in jeopardy, enemy forces arriving just as the shuttle chose to depart. He was not certain but it seemed likely from the enemies reaction that they detected the shuttle.

"Bridge, Jalen-Shosa, Alpha Team is deploying. It will leave you free to move the ship to another point before they decide to pepper the launch site of the shuttle with weapons." he relayed via computer.

"Okay time to hit the vacuum. We have hostile vessels in the area. They may or may not have detected the shuttle launch. While they are investigating, we move out. All communications by LASER, and minimal suit energy and propulsion." He said before closing his helmet and jumped out through the containment force field.

He let his momentum carry him away from the Eucharis and then nudged his armor downward to a point 50 meters below the path of the Eucharis

Re: [Mission 15.1] Gifted

Bridge

Hanako gave Sune the okay over the phone and then hunched forward on the captain's console trying to figure out her next move. If the shuttle was detected, the enemy leader would probably assume there were ships in the area and call for reinforcements. There were two ships. Alone each of the ships was about a match for the four gunships of the Eucharis squadron. Together they had an an advantage.

If she used her jamming, they would have to move away or split up to call for reinforcements, but the Eucharis would be targeted. To Hanako, she felt like once the shuttle was spotted, the enemy would call for help regardless, so jamming looked like the best chance to buy time for the team but at the expense of possibly losing ships. Alternatively, the Eucharis could back off and lay low and let the team stick it out on their own. It wasn't pretty, but it was the logical choice.

She sat up and checked on the map. The shuttle would be entering the planet's atmosphere in moments. The enemy battle pods were practically on top of them.

Shuttle

The blue and green planet ahead loomed huge in the cockpit window ahead of the shuttle and the first atmospheric turbulence began to rattle the shuttle.
