Re: [Mission 15.1] Gifted

The sight of the NMX bomber was enough for to send Tomomi into some cover of some vegetation near by to hide her from above. She was not to concerned since her optical stealth system was still active, but it never hurt to be careful. Assuming a prone position, she started to high crawl quickly in towards the coordinates, occasionally looking up to see if Reika was following her or near by.

She immediately stopped when she heard what sounded like vehicles. She then did her best to ultilize any micro terrain while she clung closer to the ground in a low crawl towards some more vegetation for cover. She waited to see where the airbikes were heading.

Surface

Having seen Helen's signal out of the corner of his eye, he decided not to move out of risk of being spotted by the bomber, although when he saw it drop its load, he knew that he had to make himself an even smaller target now.

He made himself much lower to the ground, finding a small crevice within which he could squeeze himself into, then he moved some brush over the area to shield himself from being sighted and kept himself very still and quiet.

Although, he was ready to move in case one of his team-mates needed help.

Re: [Mission 15.1] Gifted

Descent

Sune brought his armor into the upper atmosphere, as he entered he deployed his shields at a low setting to divert the worst of the re-entry heat.

Once he completed the aerobraking he continued his descent aiming for a point on the mountains south of the estimated impact site for the shuttle. He set his AIES to record everything he could record with passive scans. In the event that the other team was deceased they needed some intelligence to proceed.

He landed softly on a point that afforded him a view of the area. He found a point from where he could wait and observe until the rest of the team arrived.

Planet Surface

Bors flicked through the radio channels in his helmet, but to no avail. It had been about fifteen minutes since his impromptu landing on Planet H with no contact from the rest of Alpha Squad or any of the NMX forces that were on the planet. As Bors jumped over a small creek, he heard the faint whine of an airbike approaching and dove into the cover of a nearby ditch. As the sound grew louder Bors readied himself for a firelight, flicking the safety off on his rifle and poked his head out of cover to see what he was up against. To his luck, the airbikes flew by without noticing him and continued on their patrol, Bors gave a quick sigh of relief and flicked his rifle back to safe and continued on to where he thought the rest of Alpha team might be. About five minutes later, Bors was heading across a small clearing when he heard the barking of some type of dog. "Shit!" he exclaimed as he realised that the airbikes must have located his landing site and were hot on his trail. Making a quick dash across the clearing Bors hurtled a log, landing on his hurt rib and unleashed a string of curses in Nepleasian. After quickly regaining most of his composure, Bors laid prone poking his rifle around the side of the log so when the dog, and whatever else came with it, broke into the clearing he would have a clear shot at it. As he laid mostly obscured behind the log, Bors slipped out his combat knife and thought to himself You can never be too cautious with dogs.

Re: [Mission 15.1] Gifted

Misato felt a knot start to form in her guts, as it always did in reentry. She continued to make a few of corrections as she could to continue following the rest down to the planet. She was also continuing to make passive sweeps with her armor’s sensors. She didn’t want to draw any attention to herself, but she did want to know what was out there coming for her and the rest of the squad. The information that kept flowing past on the screen was to say the least was dire. Attack crafts and pods filling the skies, swarming around looking for something; they knew the shuttle came from somewhere. If things kept going as they were she was going to land on a surface cover in ships.

She kept making very small adjustments as she entered the atmo, following orders she raised her forward shields to help absorb as much of the reentry as possible without being seen. as they were coming further into the atmo she cut the shields entirely so the armor could take the brunt of the forces. She tried to keep track of the passive scanner’s information, the ground rushing up at her, and the teammates around her.

Planet "H" Surface

Reika followed shortly after Tomomi whilst still utilizing optical stealth. They weren't too far from the meeting co-ordinates, but they had to stop and take cover in some scant foliage when the NMX strategic bomber's flight nearby became apparent to those on the ground. The neko operative could barely see the ship through the fog -- but with the armors optical enhancement functions she managed to barely make-out the tankette being carried by the aircraft and several equipment pods of unknown purpose.

Moving more carefully now, Reika quietly followed her companion as they continued on their path to meet up with the rest of Beta team, only to stop again when the sound of NMX neko's riding Akira airbikes echoed across the terrain near the lake. The operative crouched down low, slowly crawling up beside Tomomi and coming to rest in a narrow depression surrounded by small plants. Her eyes narrowed upon the not so distant passing bikes that raced across the shore.

Nudging Tomomi slightly on the shoulder, Reika used a few military hand-signals to indicate they should continue moving, quietly. She didn't want to risk any NMX soldiers nearby catching wind of any radio or telepathic signals. The pair needed to meet up with the rest of their team as soon as possible.

The dog rushed out of the fog toward Riko, following his scent. A red light was flashing on its vest.

Re: [Mission 15.1] Gifted

As the dog burst into the clearing, Bors saw that it had a blinking red light on its vest, and lined the beast up in his Xasers cross hairs. The dog, picking up Bors's sent again, barrelled down on his position. As the dog closed in on Bors he fired a trio of shots at it, hoping at least one round would drop it before it was on him.

Re: [Mission 15.1] Gifted

Landing

Akemi made a very smooth landing close to Sune and began surveying her surroundings. She too had set her AIES to record what it could of its passive scans. Despite the fact that the planet was a mystery to them she had no interest in the data beyond its tactical value. Right now she only thought of her mission.

Re: [Mission 15.1] Gifted

Floating

Ramiro cursed under his breath as he saw that one of the team members was finding it necessary to go faster than everyone else. Ugh, newbies. They're gonna get themselves killed. Reminds me of that Elysian... Thoughts aside, Ramiro prepared for entry as he neared the atmosphere, bringing low settings to his shields.

Planet H

As Ramiro neared the target landing site, he began a passive scan to look for the team member that had gone ahead of the rest. As he approached the ground, he slowed himself enough so that he could land smoothly about 20 yards from Sune. Landing in a crouch, Ramiro brought out his rifle and scanned the treeline with his eyes. Deciding that they weren't in imminent danger, he looked over at Sune and sent him a laser communication.

Sir, I believe we lost one during the descent, a new guy. I've got passive scans looking for him, I'll let you know what I find. As of now, what are your orders?

Re: [Mission 15.1] Gifted

Surface

The forest was rocked by a violent explosion and dust and debris fell all around the clearing where the dog had been. Bors-Hei was mostly shielded from the force of the blast by the large log he was behind, but his head was ringing.

As the smoke cleared, Six NMX nekos began to emerge from the fog near Sune and Akemi. They were taller than usual and were wearing heavy armor and carrying large transparent shields. A tank loomed behind them, its four sensor eyes glowing a menacing red-orange as it started spraying their area with weapons fire. It was unclear whether or not they had been spotted, but it was obvious the NMX knew their general location.

Planet - Submerged Beneath Lake

A vulgarity left Helen as she monitored the situation from the very moment the Xaser was fired, her passive sensors picked up the radiation discharge. It was clear to her at that point that someone done goofed. She hoped though that whoever would end up dead in the scuffle would be sacrificed for the good of the mission, as she hoped that the NMX would assume their job done with the neutralization of the target they had seized upon.

Helen waited though, until she was absolutely sure that there were no eyes on her, and possibly Takeyu, she just hoped that the others would take advantage of the distraction so the group could unite before moving out to begin their search process, their original mission objective still quite clear in her mind, even with the NMX breathing down their necks.

Re: [Mission 15.1] Gifted

Surface

Akemi immediately activated her armor's camouflage and started to back up to hide behind the nearest rock formation while she waited for Sune to give her an order. She hoped he would choose to engage the enemy because even though their general location had been discovered it appeared they would still have the element of surprise given the accuracy of the tank and the position of the enemy soldiers. They were supposed to serve as a distraction after all and considering how Beta team had fared so far it seemed like they might really appreciate one right now. She figured she had enough firepower to do the job and they could quickly slip away afterwards. Of course she would understand if Sune decided they would simply try to avoid this patrol. They had not yet reached their objective so attacking now could potentially be disastrously premature.

Bors shielded his eyes as the explosion tore the dog apart and left a sizeable crater in the ground. Bors was momentarily dazed by the blast, the bright flash obscuring his vision and the noise causing a loud ringing in his ears, but within a few moments his vison returned and the ringing subsided a bit. "Well so much for trying to be stealthy" Bors said to himself while hitting the side of his helmet trying to rid himself of the rest of the ringing in his ears, "If they didn't know we were here they sure do now" and as if to confirm his suspicions Bors heard the sound of weapons fire coming from just over the next ridge. Shaking his head in disbelief and thinking that today just wasn’t his day, Bors moved toward the sound of battle as quickly and quietly as possible.

The NMX heavy infantry spread out while the spider tanks switched to airburst napalm munitions and began turning the area into a hellish flaming mess in order to remove the concealing bushes.

Ahead, Bors found one of the NMX heavy infantry. As she made eye contact with him through a heavy transparent visor, the two nekos closest to her simultaneously looked over at him and the three of them took cover behind shields and raised their rifles to shoot!

One of the tanks leapt hundreds of meters forward onto the trees near Sune and Akemi, sending the vegetation crashing to the ground. At almost point blank range it tried to shoot them with its secondary cannons!

Eucharis Bridge

Hanako held on to her armrest tightly as the Eucharis was pummeled with battleship guns. Ahead, the captured Chiharu's aft section was now burning and badly mauled by the combined surprise attack by the squadron's 4 Plumeria gunships. The ship was severely wounded but not going down without a fight.

Blueberry encountered Hakujou in the passageway while she was on her way to fix something. "What are you still doing here? Report to the armor teams!" she ordered the doctor.

Re: [Mission 15.1] Gifted

Beta Team - Planetary Surface - Lake

With the NMX firmly engaged with the other team, Helen took that as an opportunity to get things done, especially as she spotted Reika and Tomomi along the shoreline. It was her chance to get the team together, and get to work. She climbed out from the water, partially in a state of stealth as she spoke out loud, thanks to the weapons fire it was not much of a risk. "Follow me, we're getting away from here." was all she said, before gesturing with her arm to move, as she ran for the tree-line where she last saw Takeyu, once there, she spoke out loud; "Time to go Takeyu, let the others worry about the scuffle."

With her team hopefully rounded up, she began to travel through the woods, following a route which was roughly 'behind' the traveling path of the bomber. "We're going to head behind the nearest mountain. Once there, we'll conduct passive sensor scans and try to ping the other Hanako with an encoded and encrypted telepathic signal. If we fail to catch a scent, we will have to figure out a means of regaining the element of surprise, while offering us a superior advantage in searching for her."

Re: [Mission 15.1] Gifted

Surface - Alpha team landing site.

If Sune had any doubts about the NMX knowing their location, they were dispersed by the leaping tank that tried to kill them.

"Find defensive positions." he sent via laser using the known positions of his team.

With a thought he activated his Ke-M2-P2904 Barrier shield as he propelled himself out of the line of fire towards a rock outcropping which would afford him a defensible position. As he moved he fire a three round burst from his Ke-M2-W2905. He felt the barrier shield absorb the impact sparing his armor from damage for the moment.

If it would do any good I would send a letter of complaint to KZ regarding the stealth capabilities of our equipment. he thought as he moved behind the rocks.

Re: [Mission 15.1] Gifted

Ramiro found some concealment in the nearby foliage. After dropping into a prone position, he started firing his rifle at whichever enemy offered the clearest shot. Every now and again he would make sure to roll a few meters to the side in order to make sure that he was constantly moving positions, even if only by a small distance.

Re: [Mission 15.1] Gifted

Surface

Moving out of his cover, Takeyu gave Helen a nod of the head before unslunging his rifle. He wanted to help Alpha team, but they did have their mission of finding the other Hanako, and so with a relunctance he turned and began to follow Helen. "What about Alpha team Shosa?" he asked, just to see what was on her mind.

Re: [Mission 15.1] Gifted

Beta Team - Planetary Surface - Forest

Inwardly, Helen wondered why Takeyu even bothered to bring up the matter, however, she knew that he was just functioning as the second in the chain of command of their team. "Alpha team has their own job, if we try to cover for them, we will only compromise our mission by making it known that we're here. If they defeat the NMX group, then the NMX will focus on hitting them. If they die to the NMX group, then the NMX will assume that they've disposed of everyone who was aboard our shuttle." Helen explained before she shook her armored head. "Enough though, we need to focus on getting out of this area, or we could end up being detected." she said in a hushed yet audible tone as she gestured for the group to move double-time as she broke into an armor-assisted run.
