Alpha Team

The drones bought the heavily outnumbered Alpha Team some time but they were getting picked off rapidly. The NMX continued to advance on the Star Army soldiers with the tankettes absorbing damage like a sponge by way of their shield systems.

As Bors ran, a bright blue beam zipped in front of him, narrowly missing his torso but his left hand collided with it as he moved, and the beam cut clean through his palm and left the part with the fingers dangling by sinew and melted scraps of his glove. It stung terribly and there was blood all over.

Konoka's movement made her a target and it cost her. Several beams took down her shields and before she could reach cover, she took a hit to her left leg, limiting her mobility.

Akemi's exposed aerial position made her vulnerable, and one of the tankettes tagged her with its ball turrets, knocking out her shields. It then aimed its main gun to track her!

The damaged tankette continued to charge at Sune. This time it was a distraction, though. The scout nekos on their airbikes swung around and flanked him from behind. AIES warned him with an alarm as his rear shield quadrant went down and his backpack area status indicator went red. "Generator damaged. Switching to auxiliary batteries," it told him. Smoke was rising from his back but the shots somehow hadn't hurt him directly, thanks to the armor.

As the battle raged on, the sun began to set and the windy ice storm intensified, slowing everyone down a bit, except for the tankettes sliding all over the icy terrain like moderately clumsy skating crabs.

One of the infantry nekos had black shoulder ranks and a megaphone. "Surrender now!" she shouted at them, hoping to end the fight before nightfall.

Planetary Surface - Beta Team

Following Helen up the treeline, Takeyu had to ponder just where this other Hanako was, though he also had to wonder how the NMX arrived so quickly, almost like they 'knew' they were there.

"On it," said Takeyu as he switched his systems over to monitoring for sensor spikes. While waiting for any signs of trouble, he kept his eyes out over the horizon, looking for anything out of the ordinary or anything that might grab his attention. The view was, after all, very nice.

Misato didn’t have a clue what happened, she was set for a good landing with the rest of her team, then the next thing she remembered was waking up in a tree with explosions happening around her. Quickly she did a full diagnosis of her power suit; while she made sure she still had her Ke-M2-W2913. The suit was reporting only minor damage. She took a look at the passive sensor information and saw that one of the tanks was nearby and if she jumped she would be able to land on top of it. She knew have to stop it so it wouldn’t take out any more of the team she attached the bayonet to the gun, and, without and worry about her own wellbeing she shifted her position and jumped out into the air towards the tank.

Akemi was severely rocked by the turret fire, but the extreme urgency of the situation gave her the clarity needed to focus and reorient herself in time to deal with the primary threat at hand. Seeing the main gun clearly trying to lock onto her, she zipped to the left and fired her cannons and a burst from her rifle at it. "I hate to give advice, but I think it might be prudent to start using your grenade launcher attachments, drones and missiles. Maybe we should fall back," she said hurriedly as she moved. Having made a mental note of her surroundings prior to the start of the battle, she headed for another large rock formation a short distance away which she had seen earlier. She intended to use it as cover, taking her remaining drones with her. As she went she faced the enemy forces and focused everything she had on the tank that was aiming for her. She also activated her left forearm shield.

Bors rolled into cover, narrowly avoiding the blue light that almost cut him in half, and noticed that he was missing half of his hand. Great possible broken rib and now missing a hand.......second time I’ve lost this thing was starting to get attached to it he thought while staring at the mess of blood, wires and sinew that used to be his hand. As the shock faded and the pain kicked in Bors shouted for a medic, and pulled out his NSP and chuckled to himself thinking I hope the medic doesn't mind a little blood as he noticed half of his left sleeve was covered with it as well as part of his pants, chest and part of his xaser.

A flash of light and pain hit Akemi as the tank fired at her with the main canno. She found herself on the ground with her armor trashed and her neck and both arms broken. Luckily, being a Nekovalkyrja, she would be able to get up and get moving again soon. Her armor was not functioning right, however.

The tank begin to aim at her once more to finish her off, but it got distracted. Misato had tried to jump on it from a tree, and so it moved to the side and stomped her as she came down. When the tank raised its crushing foot, Misato found herself in a hail over rifle fire from the NMX infantry.

On the mountainside, Takeyu's vision was heavily obscured by the darkening sky and the sleet that was quickly becoming heavy snow.

Ramiro, still hidden behind his foliage concealment, took careful aim at the Neko that appeared to be in charge. Taking his time, he made sure that he was aimed at his targets head and fired. Whether he hit or not, he proceeded to activate his Ke-M2-P2904 Barrier Shield Module, Ke-M2-P3001 Energy Cloak Shield Projectors, Ke-M2-P3002 Leg Energy Cloak Shield Projectors, and Ke-M2-D3000 Forearm Ellipsoid Shields.

Fully shielded, Ramiro stood up, put his Ke-M2-W2901 Aether Beam Saber-Rifle into its sword mode, and sprinted as fast as he could from target to target, hacking away at whatever he passed and hoping that a combination of speed and lots of shields would be able to keep him alive long enough to take the attention away from his teammates.

This is what all those shield modules are for.

The NMX Elite was hit in the face and stumbled back. Somehow, the shot actually ricocheted off her armored helmet and came back to damage Ramiro's shields. Dropping her megaphone, the neko pulled off her ruined helmet, revealing a pretty blonde neko woman with large dark blue eyes and wavy sideswept hair. Obviously dizzy, she wobbled for a moment and then fell on her back into the slush.

Ramiro's rush was a success. He managed to cut down two of the other NMX nekos, taking their numbers down to 11 of 14 (not counting the tanks) and his shields were holding.

Rather than yell a profanity or howl in pain as others were wont to do in her situation, Akemi silently clenched her teeth and closed her eyes. Though she was seriously injured and her team was fairing poorly, she still thought things weren't too bad. At least she was still alive. It was also possible they might turn things around if they used their weaponry more liberally. In addition, if she and Konoka managed to survive the mission, her newfound friend would have a great opportunity to help her and she certainly seemed eager to be helpful. A moment later Akemi opened her eyes and once again propelled herself towards the cover she sought.

Sune rolled when he hit the ground letting his momentum carry him. When he could he rolled up into a kneeling position. Looks like our luck may have finally run out. Too bad it had to happen on some fool mission. he thought.

"Star Army does not Surrender Bitch." He yelled as he pumped the SLAG on his LASR and launched a SLEX round at the largest group of Neko's and watched with satisfaction when an explosive shockwave and firestorm engulfed them.

"Joy...." said Takeyu disappointingly at the snow that was obscuring his view. "Guess it's purely reliant on sensors now," he sighed and turned his attention fully to his scanners.

"Yes Shosa" Reika responded verbally to the instructions she received after the team and herself had reached the edge of the forests tree-line. The operative instructed her armor to manifest the control settings for her suits array of communication devices so that she could more precisely configure one of them to avoid unwanted detection by the roaming NMX forces when the time came to relay Helen's signal.

Sune's SLEX attack killed a neko fire team (9 nekos remaining).

The scout nekos continued to take shots at Sune, hitting him several times. His armor gave out and one of the their thin blue beams passed right through him and he lost control of his body and flopped face-first over into the snowy slush. The next thing he would see would be the Eucharis medical lab.

With Sune dead, the remaining nekos turned to focus on Ramiro.

"YOU BASTARDS!" Ramiro roared as he saw Sune fall out of the corner of his eye. He changed his direction continuing to slice at whatever he passed. This time he ran toward the Neko in charge, intent on putting the sword of his Saber-Rifle through the woman's head. At this point, he had no idea if the team was going to live, so his goal was to kill as many of them as he possible could, especially their leader.

Ramiro managed to cut two more NMX girls in half (6 remaining) and at which point he attracted the attention of the tankette with the working main cannon, which fired at him! The other tank tried to stomp Akemi.

Tomomi simply nodded in acknowledgement while she waited for Reika to to signal. She adjusted her sensors to focus on older neko types to make finding the other Hanako's biometric signs much easier. Especially since the scans would be so short.

Seeing the tank coming towards her and trying to squish her as she limply attempted to float away from the action, Akemi decided she might as well meet it in combat since she couldn't escape it in her sorry condition. She tried to slip under the incoming leg and stab the underside of the tank with her weapon in saber mode despite her crippled arms.

“UHHGGGG…”, ’Did someone got the name of the tank?’ Misato thought as she rolled out from under the tank. Once she was out from under it she started firing at the Nekos that where firing at her with everything she had, the Gauss and her Ke-M2-W2913, she fired off a few counter measure missiles just for good measure. After a few bursts she turned and tried to slice the leg off of the tank with the aether bayonet of the Ke-M2-W2913. She knew that this was a last stand but hey if she could form a big of enough distraction maybe the rest of the team can retreat and regroup.

The damaged tankette was further damaged by Misato and Akemi, but not disabled. It leaped into the air and rapidly hovered away, backing off about 300 meters where it would be able to shoot from a distance. The other tank and remaining nekos were falling back as well.

Overhead, the pair of strategic bombers had returned and began to bomb the area. Alpha team had to move now!

Since she already had her weapon pointed at the the withdrawing spider tank, Akemi fired a burst from it intended for its belly even though she didn't think her aim would be any good. Then she tried to evacuate the area as fast as she could, putting up a forearm shield if her armor could still do it. "Konoka-hei, would you mind grabbing Jalen-Shosa and carrying me out of here as well? Neither I nor my armor are working well at the moment and I'd like to use his drones."
