Re: [Mission 15.1] Gifted

Surveying the battle around him, Ramiro realized that they couldn't stay in one spot much longer or else they would get torn to shreds. He quickly sent a Laser communication to the surviving members of his team that were within his view.

Alpha Team, break formation and regroup 2km east of our current location.

Ramiro ran about 100 yards towards the east before squatting down and looking behind him to see if there were any team members that weren't following. He also sent a message up to the Eucharis, making it quick as not to waste time.

Shosho, getting ripped to shreds. Sune is dead. No word from Beta. Need coordinates of duplicate if missions is to be completed. Ramiro.

If any Alpha team members remained, Ramiro would go back and retrieve them so long as he had time before the bombers hit. Otherwise, he would take off towards the east.

Alpha Team

The ship's reply was full of static. "Ackn--ledged, --miro. Avoid c--tact with --- enemy," Shosho Hanako replied with a cough. She had blood running down her face and the bridge was filled with smoke and there was a control panel burning in the background.

Eucharis Medical Lab

Even as the ship shook with impacts and explosions, a new copy of Sune's recently acquired body began to take shape in an HS tube while around it various medical equipment rolled around the floor.

Re: [Mission 15.1] Gifted

Bors was relieved when he saw the tankettes start to scuttle away, along with what was left of the heavy infantry. Taking a few pop shots with his pistol, he took a moment to peek out of his cover to observe the situation. Glancing around he noticed that one of his squad mates was down, though he couldn’t tell who due to the weather conditions and random plant life obscuring his vision. Suddenly the sound of explosions reached Bors's ears along with a message to regroup. Putting his pistol back in its holster, and grabbing his xaser in his good hand, Bors started heading east as quickly as possible while trying to avoid being shot again.

B Team - Planetary - Behind Mountain Cover

With Reika on the ready, Helen decided to establish a quick laser communication link, using AIES networking she used Reika's Daisy to send a message. It was a simple message, it was an encoded 'ping', intended to indicate to a possibly listening Hanako that someone was there, listening for her, and that their IFF was friendly and she just had to send a return 'ping' to be found.

As Helen sent the message, she used her passive receivers to listen for any friendly messages, and it seemed that their ride home was dealing with some severe problems. "Takeyu, we need to prepare for an extended stay, we need to complete our mission as far as locating and confirming the presence of the old Hanako, and we can't do that without time. We will have to continue evasion while searching, and that may make this process take hours, days, weeks, or perhaps months depending on our unwelcome guests."

Eucharis Medical Lab

Since the firefight out in space was not letting up, Hakujou reluctantly decided to stay behind after she missed her shuttle, and returned to the medical lab where she could do more good in case anything ship bound happened.

When she arrived back at her lab she saw the resulting collateral damage from the firefight having rendered a lot of the equipment deactivated or destroied, either from a system overload, power surge or flying debris. Though one still active tank caught her eye when she spotted the "regeneration cycle" system alert flashing on it's readout screen.

Hakujou raised a hand to deflect a swinging, darkened, overhead light panel as she monitored the hemosynthetic tank while Sune's body was being reformed inside. The time between explosion sounds and random light failures gave the good doctor time to think while Sune was regenerated in the tank.

She wondered if the Shosho was crazy as the debriefs she spied had hinted at, though her personal opinion as a doctor dismissed those notions as false. She also remembered from those reports that the young princess always seemed to lose her ships when on these missions. That gave her pause, she rationalized the losses as the princess picking missions that logically have the lowest odds of survival to garner personal prestige when she either completes them or achieves at least a few of the major objectives... Which caused her to develop a bitter look on her face when she though further about it.

Re: [Mission 15.1] Gifted

Beta Team

Reika divided her attention back and forth between her communications systems and her suits sensors, hopeful for some kind of response from the Hanako copy and keeping an eye out for any NMX that might stumble in on the group.

"If we somehow manage to retrieve Hanako's duplicate despite the odds, we're still going to have to find a new way off this rock -- and as the NMX are aware of our presence now they are no doubt scouring the planet's vicinity for any other interlopers, putting the Eucharis itself at risk. We may be forced into an attempt to commandeer a grounded NMX ship by ourselves if the rest of the crew can't pick us up... though I'd put our chances at pulling it off as slim."

Re: [Mission 15.1] Gifted

Beta Team

With the signal being sent out, Tomomi began her ten second active scans for the Hanako duplicate, varying up the time between scans. In between the scans she passively listened for any transmissions either from the duplicate or increased NMX comms indicating they noticed her scan.

Re: [Mission 15.1] Gifted

Beta Team

Takeyu nodded in agreement with Helen, but had nothing on his mind at this moment on how to fix their current situation, he didn't help that he was several years out of shape in commanding. But as he thought, he heard Reika's comment he looked up at her.

"Commandeering a ship might be a good idea for not just an escape but also to get around the planet while we search for this other Hanako, the issue is trying to make certain the NMX don't realize that one of their own has been taken. Spoofing logs and screwing with the IFF might be enough to fool them for awhile, but we'd need another means of keeping them tricked for the time being." His voice trailed off while he thought, though still keeping an eye on the sensors just in case the NMX picked them up.

Re: [Mission 15.1] Gifted

"Forget Jalen-Shosa," Konoka advised Akemi, putting her arm around her. "Unless you can somehow just detach the drones and grab 'em, forget it. We need to run...now, before we're dead, too!"

Re: [Mission 15.1] Gifted

Alpha Team

"I figured I'd get at them once we were a safe distance away, but alright, sure." As they retreated Akemi ran a check of her armor's systems to assess the damage to it.

Re: [Mission 15.1] Gifted

Alpha Team

Two aether bombs flattened everything in the area, leaving nothing but a shallow, glowing crater of molten rock. Any of the team that hadn't reached a safe distance was killed. The explosion's blast reached out for several kilometers, and the surviving team members would find themselves with their armor blacked, laying in the ashes and surrounded by smoke and steam. Looking up, they could see the blast area looked like another planet, a hellish blackened lifeless mess.

Passive scans could detect the NMX bombers were now performing a search pattern. One was looking for Alpha Team leftovers while the other was searching for the source of Bravo Team's emissions.

B Team - Planetside - Mountain

Helen listened to the exchange between her group members, she was pleased that they were so resolved, even more so since she was thinking the same thing. "Then it is settled, we're going to board one of their ships, kill most of them, find their communications operator, get the information we need to fool the others out of them. If that fails, Takeyu, Tomomi, it will fall on you both to come up with a means of manipulating the IFF and signalling systems to maintain our disguise. It should not come to that however, once we have increased mobility, we should be able to effectively track down the other Hanako before the NMX would even know what is going on." she spoke, before she looked out to the horizon.

"I think our best bet though, is to try to board a landing ship, or, we could quietly neutralize a squad of NMX nekovalkryja, take their uniforms, then blend in with the herd." Helen stated, as she frowned behind her helmet. "Still, that presents the problem of them being just as well networked as we are. It makes sneaking by like that difficult... I think, for tonight, we should focus on evasion. If we can't find the other Hanako before sunrise, we'll have to take a more direct approach."

Re: [Mission 15.1] Gifted

Alpha Team

Just over 2km east from the blast site, Ramiro's armor could be seen lying face first under some debris and ash. After passively scanning until he knew that the area was clear, he pushed himself out of the ash.

"Thank god my back was to that explosion," he thought as he peered through the semi-clean visor on his helmet. Sprinting for the nearest concealment he could find, he lay in a prone position, turning off all but his most essential systems. As he lay there, his eyes scanned the landscape towards the explosion for the signs of any friendlies heading his way.

Re: [Mission 15.1] Gifted

Alpha Team

Ramiro would see Akemi quickly moving towards his position intent on sharing his cover and allowing him to speak to her directly. She too turned off her armor's nonessential systems upon reaching him. While she waited for orders she about the information that her suit had gathered on the layout of the land around them.

Re: [Mission 15.1] Gifted

Alpha Team

Bors pushed a pile of debris and ash off of himself and dusted off the remainder of ash from his visor, as he sat up and quickly observed his immediate area he noticed the large molten crater that was in front of him and thought to himself "Not very subtle are they?" Bors had barely been out of the blast radius when the bomb was dropped flinging him forward and covering him with a blanket of ash and debris from the explosion. For a few minutes he thought he was dead until a throbbing pain in his side and hand reminded him otherwise, and he had started to dig himself out of his little debris pile. As Bors continued to look around he spotted a movement out of the corner of his eye, as he looked he saw Akemi quickly moving towards some cover. As he took a closer look he saw Ramiro in the cover that Akemi was heading to and started heading in that direction himself, though at a slightly slower pace as his injuries were still reminding him that they were there.

Re: [Mission 15.1] Gifted

Beta Team

Tomomi noticed the two bombers split up and enter a search pattern. After the enormous spike in aether energy her sensors picked up, she suspected one of them was looking for survivors to lather and repeat on. But the other bomber was more worrisome to her.

"I feel like a mouse with an obnoxiously loud brother right now.." She said, linked via lasers to the rest of the team. In between her scans, she started to surmise to see if it was possible to match her active scans to the same frequency NMX sensors used. Though honestly she was not even sure the two factions used the same type of technology to produce the same results.

"NMX sensors utilize the same sensor technology as we do?" Tomomi asked, sounding a little less meek at the moment.

Re: [Mission 15.1] Gifted

When the other two approached, Ramiro rolled over to make room under the bushes and other foliage. Not seeing anyone else approaching, his assumption was that the three of them were the only ones that survived the blast, and he wasn't going to take the risk of assuming otherwise.

Laser communications only. We move silently. My IFF received a ping a few minutes ago. It's either Beta Team or the second Hanako. I'm going to attempt communication, wait for my orders.

Allowing the AIES in his armor to calculate the exact trajectory to the location of the ping, he sent a series of a dozen or so Laser Communications that were designed to hit within 10-15 feet of the exact location of the ping, just in case the source had moved a bit in the last minute or two. The messages all contained the same word:

Ramiro then sent a ping of his own.

Re: [Mission 15.1] Gifted

B-Team - Planetside - Mountain

Helen shifted her gaze to Tomomi, it was a good question from the technician and programmer, and after some thought Helen gave a nod; "I am fairly sure they use the same technology, since they've captured our assets, and their technology has also been based off of Yamataian technology to begin with. In that case, they'd be able to see what we usually see, and they'd likely have the same security measures too."

As Helen spoke, she received no signal from Ramiro, since the mountainside B-Team was using as cover served to also prevent the line-of-sight based laser communication.

Re: [Mission 15.1] Gifted

Bravo Team

Initial results came back negative. If Hanako's other body was somewhere on this cold planet, it wasn't in sight of the life-form scanners from the mountain they were on. The bomber that had been searching for Bravo team let loose an aether bomb overhead and then left.

Space

As the two bombers returned to the mauled Chiharu battleship, the Ayame cruiser activated its hyperspace fold drive and carried both ships out of the system, leaving the Eucharis' squadron alone.

Eucharis

Hanako sent the teams a message. "Alpha Team and Bravo Team, this is Eucharis. The star system is secured for now."

B-Team - Standing Next To A Mountain That Is Going To Be Cut Down

Peering back skyward, at insistence of her AIES, Helen spotted the payload which the bomber released. "Shit." she whispered quickly before she looked to her team. "Reika on top of Tomomi NOW!" Helen ordered, before she threw herself and her Kylie on top of Takeyu, forcing him beneath some rocky cover as she timed a burst from her Kylie's shields to match the timing for the aether blast which would rock their location.
