Re: Mission 18.1 - Winter Leave

Warehouse 137

Sune climbed out of the cab that brought him and Emiko to the Warehouse after stopping to conduct some personal business. They each carried a couple of shopping bags in their hands.

He paused for a moment to look around at the scenery. Standing there he watched the cab drive away and just watched the snow flakes move in the air. He knew what snow was, faced it plenty of times in armor. But this was the first time he could take time to admire it.

Sune then turned to the Emiko, "Let's get inside we can change in the Raia and then put our stuff in the car. Today looks like a good day for sightseeing."

Emiko smiled, "I have compiled a list of places I would like to see Sune-San. Do you know how long we will be here on Yamatai?"

He shook his head, "Not really, several days at least. I have given the entire crew leave for the holidays. To give those with families to spend time together and to let our new soldiers explore and learn."

He entered the door with Emiko following, once in side the Tenba he put his bags down and went to the flight area. He had at least one bit of unfinished business to take care of.

To: Ketsurui Hanako-Shôshô
Subject: Regarding your last communique

I received your message earlier but was not able to reply due to operational necessities. There was much left unresolved between us after our last meeting. I would very much like to meet with you so that we can resolve things.

I will be doing some shopping and sightseeing with my assistant. Let me know when it is convenient to meet with you and I will adjust our itinerary to accommodate.

Jalen Sune-Chusa

After sending the message he went to his cabin on the Raia and changed into civilian attire.

Re: Mission 18.1 - Winter Leave

Spaceport

Hanako noticed she had received a message and took a moment to read it. Her first reaction was anger. Why was he sending her a text instead of calling? And Sune's language was cold and formal and he made it sound like business work to 'resolve things.' She also got the impression that he was making a too big deal out of things. More importantly, Hanako bristled at the way Sune had not responded in days and now was potentially interrupting her time with the other crew.

The more Hanako thought about it, though, the more she did actually want to see Sune. Perhaps she was being too sensitive about this. She wanted to give it a chance.

To: Sune
From: Hanako

We are just starting a shopping trip downtown and will be eating out and visiting the onsen in the afternoon. Perhaps you could meet up with us?

Re: Mission 18.1 - Winter Leave

Sune thought about the last visit to the Onsen. It had been far from the soothing experience it was meant to be. So much so that Hanako had gotten into a knock down drag out fight with a now former crew member.

He packed his bags into the Zephyr and watched as Emiko came out carrying her bag.

He activated his PHC and recorded a message which he sent to Hanako.

"Hanako-Sama, as I am planning on buying some stuff for Emiko, would it be okay for us to join you shopping? If so please let me know which shopping center you are heading to.

I would like the opportunity at some point to speak with you privately. There are some things that I need to tell you.

Sune."

He left the unit in receive mode so that if Hanako replied he would hear it.

"I booked a suite for us at the Kyoto Tower Hotel. We will go there and drop off our bags before we go shopping." he said as he climbed into the car.

Re: Mission 18.1 - Winter Leave

As Takeyu drove, turning down one street and then stopping at a light, he relaxed a bit in his seat and glanced at a message he had gotten back from his sisters.

So, it seems they'll be able to join us... that would be great given how long I've been away from them.. his attention was then taken when he looked over at the Shosho and blinked for a moment. "Something on your mind ma'am?" he asked, waiting for the light to change and glancing at the traffic that was currently moving.

Hovervan - Kyoto Streets
0830 hours

Hanako looked thoughtful as the red light changed to green light, reflecting off her face. "I am just missing Sune," Hanako told Takeyu. "I am going to call him. The Imperial Center Mall is nearby and I have things to pick up there, and it is a great place to visit a lot of stores at once. We should head there first. You can tell your sisters we are there."

Next, Hanako pulled out her communicator and called Sune. "Hello? It is Hanako. We are on our way to the Imperial Center Mall. We can meet at the big tree at 0900. I am visiting Taisho Yui for dinner. Maybe we can meet for lunch?"

Re: Mission 18.1 - Winter Leave

Zephyr - Kyoto Streets
0830 hours

Sune was heading towards the Kyoto Tower Hotel when Hanako's call came through. The Zephyr's communications system answered the call and put it through the speakers.

"Hello, this is Sune. That sounds fine, the big tree at 0900 Imperial Center Mall. Lunch sounds good too."

Re: Mission 18.1 - Winter Leave

Hovervan

"Did you hear that?" Hanako asked Takeyu. "Sune is going to meet us at the mall. This time of year we might have trouble finding a parking space so we should start heading there right away. Do you want me to call your sisters, since you are driving?"

Re: Mission 18.1 - Winter Leave

Cabin 4

Reynolds said:
"Well, if you really want to...oh, then I'll just have to buy you something, too! It'll be fun." She grinned...stuffing the thick, white coat into the backpack before closing it up. Mitsuko waited for her roommate to change before following her to the cargo bay, ready to begin their shore leave.

"Well you don't have to get me anything, I got a bit of extra cash so i thought I would help a fairly new Neko out a bit and get her some street cloths." Misato winked at her roommate.

Once they reached the others she used her connection to the Master Network and ordered a cab. "There should be a cab here any minute, you guys want to go out and wait for it?"

Re: Mission 18.1 - Winter Leave

Hovervan

"If you could please do that, thanks," Takeyu said when Hanako offered to call his siblings. His mind was more on the road anyway, and having someone else take the call would mean he would be able to keep his eyes on the road and not have to worry about possibly hitting anyone.

He made a quick check to see where the mall one, then gave a light nod and turned down a straight and began to make the drive to there.

Re: Mission 18.1 - Winter Leave

Cargo Bay

Mitsuko pouted cutely. "You're not that much older than me, Suzume-chan. Maybe a few months..." She grumbled, slipping her hat's band under her chin to keep it from blowing off, wary of the conditions outside the ship. "It's so cold and windy and snowy outside..." She shivered at the thought. "...maybe we can just wait by the ramp until they get here..."

Murakami glanced at the others as they waited, before getting distracted by just where they were waiting. She idly began noting things to rearrange in the cargo bay...

Re: Mission 18.1 - Winter Leave

Zephyr
With the new time for meeting, Sune contacted the Hotel and made payment for the suite online. He and Emiko could carry the bags in later. He asked the guidance system for the fastest route to the shopping center, once it was displayed her brought the Zephyr onto the new trajectory.

"So we are going to meet with Ketsurui-Hime, I do hope that this visit will go better for you Sune-San." Emiko said looking out the window at the snow fall. "I took the liberty of looking her up on SYNC, I must say that even with what I found. I have many questions left unanswered."

Sune looked briefly at Emiko, "She is a woman of many dimensions, I have served under her for four years. And even after all that time and calling her my friend, I find myself perplexed by her."

They approached the shopping center, and Sune brought the Zephyr down on the upper level of the parking lot. An advantage of the air car was the fact that it did not need to drive into the parking deck. Once it touched down, Sune authorized the parking fee to be paid.

He got out of the car, and put his fur hat on and slipped his lambskin gloves on. He came around and opened the door for Emiko. Emiko stepped out in her knee high boots, and leggings, a 3/4 length fur coat covering her body. She put on her Silver fox fur hat. She picked up her fur muffler and put her hands into it.

Sune turned and started walking for the nearest exit. Emiko glided along at his side. They entered the elevator and exited at the second floor level. They crossed from the parking center into the Shopping center by way of a glass concourse. Once they entered Emiko provided Sune with directions to the tree. They navigated their way through the crowd of shoppers found the tree and selected a spot to stand and wait. Sune put the bag that he brought on the floor next to him.

Re: Mission 18.1 - Winter Leave

Mall

Takeyu found the mall parking lot was packed, owing to the year-end holiday shopping. Hanako asked to be let off while Takeyu went questing for a open space. Joining a group of nekos from the local Legion garrison so she wasn't alone, and after moving past the crowds and shops, Hanako arrived at the big tree in the mall atrium and began to look around it for Sune. When she spotted him, she said goodbye to the nekos and went over to greet him. "Happy Holidays, Sune!"

Re: Mission 18.1 - Winter Leave

Mall

Sune had been looking around the area, trying to spot the blue and green haired Neko. Of course Hanako's stature meant that many of the revelers were taller that her. So it was not until she spoke that he saw her. He turned towards her voice, "Happy Holidays to you as well." He looked around with a brief puzzled look, "Is Takeyu getting his family?"

Emiko spotted Hanako a moment before she called out. She turned and watched the meeting between her Sensei and his friend/commander/unknown. It was difficult for her to truly classify the relationship that was present, due to her lack of experience.

She bowed deeply to Hanako, "Konnichiha Ketsurui-Hime, it is a pleasure to make your acquaintance."

Hanako returned Sune's bow. "Thank you. Takeyu should be along shortly and his sisters are meeting us here," Hanako told Sune. She stood next to him so she could speak and be heard without having to shout over the noise of the shopping crowd. "Things have not been the same on the Eucharis without you. I must admit the acquisition of the Firebird was unexpected. Have you considered my message?"

Re: Mission 18.1 - Winter Leave

Standing by the tree, dressed in his regalia and oblivious to Hanako and Sune was the self-titled most dangerous man in the universe. SAINT had him tagged as a 'War Asset - Privateer', the IPG had a satellite on him whenever he entered Nepleslian space, the NMX were scared of him. The one million KS bounty on him was repealed after the Delsauria Incident. In his sphere of influence, he was unstoppable.

And he was idling with a cup of hot chocolate and checking out the headline news on his communicator. Incoming and outbound traffic to the device was civilian as could be. No parlour tricks, no tiger wrestling, no violence, no concealed (or un-concealed) weapons. Today, the world around him could wait. He was taking a day off from all the adventure and violence, and contemplating what he'd do with himself once he got back to Sargasso.

He'd been given a few hundred bruises from Aerin Tatst fresh from his epiphany, and all of his wounds from Delsauria were still in a state of half-recovery, stalled by his emotional stress. He stood out in the crowd by being an injured Yamataian - a rarity.

He had to buy something for his daughter first. He knew she wouldn't appreciate it if he came home empty handed on this day.

And then he realised that he was standing near Ketsurui Hanako, having overheard her voice over the din of the shopping crowd. He turned his head to look at her and Sune, and couldn't help but blink at them for a moment. He almost didn't recognise the popular figure.

Then it clicked. "Oh! Konnichiha Ketsurui-hime." Luca turned around and made a deep bow to the Ketsurui clanmember. Yamataian manners may have been foreign to him, but the mutual respect was there. He was standing near a prominent figurehead and one of the most powerful women in the universe.

His voice then broke in humility as he produced a booklet and a pen from a pocket in his jacket: "Can... Can I have your autograph, please?" It was every child's fantasy.

Two people, unstoppable in their respective spheres of influence were together under the same roof. What were the odds?

"Well I..." Sune started to reply to Hanako's question when he was interrupted by a strange individual that approached her asking for her autograph. He seemed vaguely familiar to Sune, but he could not place him. He stepped back slightly to get out of the way.

Emiko followed his example and then leaned closer to Sune and asked in a soft voice. "Sune-San, is this proper behavior? Is one expected to ask her for her autograph? I saw no such references in my queries earlier. If so I would have made sure to bring a pad and writing implement."

Sune smiled at Emiko, "No Emiko, this is a very unusual occurrence. It has never happened before in my travels with her. But perhaps her notoriety has increased recently." He answered, and waited for Hanako to conclude her business with the Nepleslian.

Hanako rotated to face Luca. "Hello, Luca Pavone. What would you like me to sign? If you do not have anything, I have some business cards. Would you sign something for me as well?" she asked, producing a permanent marker from her coat pocket.

Re: Mission 18.1 - Winter Leave

The notepad Luca was holding seemed to be all that he had, but upon the mention of business cards his eyes lit up. "Ah, that works too. I have a card too. I can sign it." His hand flipped the notepad away and in its place was a business card. Burnt orange in colour and bearing a pixelated likeliness of the captain. All it had a face and a number to call in case of trouble. There was a 72 at the end of the number.

He then used his pen to write a simple print of identity: 'L.Pavone!' and passed it to the woman, a smile on his face. "If you ever need my crew's help, just say when. I'm always ready for action." There was some nostalgia to his voice, recalling old glories and silently wondering if he could live up to his own hype again. Especially in front of her.

Especially after Delsauria.

Hanako smiled warmly, and took out her cap and signed her name in marker on the white silk on the inside of it. She handed the hat to Luca with her business card. The card had a photo of her face on it and some SACN contact information. "There is a uniform shop here in the mall. I can get another cap," Hanako explained. "Remember, you are not allowed to wear it."

Next, Hanako took off her black coat, and offered to let Luca sign the white silk area on its interior. Luca could see a red-brown old blood stain from some previous mission on part of the white.

Re: Mission 18.1 - Winter Leave

"Oh, you flatter me!" Luca responded as he took the cap and card and wondered where else he'd put the headpiece with the woman's signature. He kept it tucked under one arm lightly - since he couldn't put it on his head. "I feel as though I should give something in return, but I can't hand you my gun - I left it behind for today - but...." He pulled an old Nito Hei pin from the top pocket of his jacket and passed it to her. "I suppose I don't need this any more." It was Third Expeditionary Fleet memorabilia from an earlier age in Yamatai's history. Maybe the pin would've been higher up on the chain if he'd stuck around - but it was still a reminder of his old service and what booted him into action.

He was then handed the woman's jacket and his eyebrow raised. He shrugged since the request to sign inside the coat seemed reasonable enough. It was easily signed - but his experience was able to spot the blood stain on the inside. He had to wash out similar stains on the jacket he was wearing in the past.

"Oh, how'd that happen?" Luca asked as he handed the coat back to her and indicated the area with the other end of the pen, with some concern in his voice. He was hardly one to talk about being concerned for another's injuries when he had barely recovered himself.

His right eye had half-regenerated and it was blurry to see through with the iris slowly turning orange, his jawbone had come back into place fully but there was still a dull ache, the shrapnel punctures were hidden by his jacket - but he did remember waking up with pieces of metal in his bed as his body rejected them - as well as two bullets from a 10mm pistol. The cut in his right leg was from an aether sabre, zigging when he should've zagged. All of them reminders of the Delsauria incident.

And yet he was still out in public, walking, conversing and remembering how to be a civilian through watching how others went about their business. Someone with this many injuries usually waited them out with a Yamataian degree of regeneration in a hospital bed or got a new body. Someone with this many injuries was either too stubborn to roll over, or insane.

The two could be mutual qualities.
