"O'Kutsuu-Hei, take over monitoring power distribution, leave the CFS in its current configuration. If the Taii has enough fire power to get the job done. If she needs to use the CSF for attack, she will let us now." Hisa informed the new technician as she moved from the power distribution to the propulsion station. Hisa pulled up the engine status and tweaked the engine efficiencies to squeeze a few more meters per second out of them.

The NMX warships meanwhile were breaking out of their current formation and flipping over on their access hoping to bring their main guns to bear on the Aeon.

"All ships break formation, take evasive action and then regroup in 2 x 2 Wingman formation." Katae called out.

"Aye, Ma'am! Breaking formation!" Trowa exclaimed as they flew over the NMX ships and broke formation. Trowa spun the ship around as fast as he could then checked the Aeon's main cannons to be sure they were all still operating fine. Satisfied that they were, Trowa looked around at the battle field and frowned. It wasn't exactly a fair fight. But they had a job to do.

As the Squadron broke from the formation, the Integrity executed a 180 degree rotation and swung into position just off the starboard wing of the Aeon. The NMX ships broke up into two groups as well hoping to overwhelm the gunships.

A group of battlepods appoached the two gunships and the Heavy Quad Anti-Mecha Cannons automatically targetted and commenced to reducing them to debris.

The lead NMX that the squadron had attacked maneuvered so that it was behind the other destroyer in order to give its shields time to recharge. Katae spotted it and gave the order, "Yamamoo-Hei ignore the closer ship and bring all guns to bear on the ship we struck earlier.

---------------------------------------------------
Meanwhile in the Engineering section, the power distribution panel began showing some power fluctuations.

With little other viable recourse, Monomonoi-Hei followed his given instructions. With practiced precision but a chagrin-ingrained lag in his action, the young Yamataian manning the secondary weapons console let loose with everything at the Aeon's disposal, target locked on to the wounded leader of the NMX fleet as the enemy vessels broke and scattered like rodents caught by surprise.

"Aye, Ma'am." Trowa said as he looked at his board readings and did some fast thinking. The enemy ships had broken into two groups to match the formation they had just moved into. He saw an opening and took it. Trowa brought the Aeon into a wide arc around to get at the wounded NMX ship. His path but both the wounded ship and it's protector in the path of the second NMX group. They couldn't fire or they'd hit their own ships.

Trowa got a target lock on the wounded NMX ship flew towards it. Maybe this time you'll die. Trowa thought as he hit the fire control.

As the slew of Aeon's gunfire came to a concussive end, that familiar red flashing of the MEGAMI's WARMS subsystem on Ko's newfound station brought his attention full-circle, fingers flying as he analyzed the potential threat.

Eyes intently focused on the screen, the Santô Hei's heart sank as WARMS predicted a probable and maligned event.

"Ise-Taii, WARMS estimates eight objects preparing to drop out of hyperspace within close proximity of the Aeon. Energy signatures match Mishhuvurthyar Battlepod FTL burst drives."

Shocked a little like a cat who had been finally caught messing with the cookie jar, Kame demurely switch with Usaga and moved up the catwalk over to the station monitoring the power distribution of the ship, next to the capacitors. However she did not have time to dwell on the WARMS CFS integration, as soon, the monitors began flashing symbols of orange and red indicating fluctuations on three power grids. The area with the strongest fluctuations was the power grid that goes around the cargo bay, which was varying at around 180% its normal power load. The automatic systems were trying to compensate and were shunting the surplus power from that grid to nearby lower hull Secondary Weapons and the STL grid that was flashing in orange. The bay’s grid was alternating in read above and below the normal power, and this flux was growing in magnitude.

As the ship turned, thanks to the pilot, into its attack, Kame quickly retorted plunging all the conduits along the deck 4 maintenance corridor just after that corridor split off to go to the Turbo Aether Drives. Effectively, this would have shut down power to both the cargo bay and the vehicle bay but not the pylons and weapons systems on the wing and lower bay. However, soon other two grids became immediately red then back orange as she returned power back to the cargo bay. Wait a minute, cargo requires power for just the lights, the air conditioning, the monitors, doors, and tools, which nobody should be using. Nothing has really changed in the cargo hold except now there is—The Broken Piece of Mishhu Hull!!, Kame realized and felt like hitting herself for not initially noticing the obvious. By now, the flux growth had remained in the three grids but was also still compounding continuously by a lethal 1.33% each minute. In layman terms, the ship still had less than hour to either isolate Or solve this problem before all hell broke loose with blackouts.

Formulating a plan, Kame soon thus called Eternity, turned down to Usaga below, and called “Ittô Hei, I am sending a request to Eternity to see if she can confirm this with any still functioning security cameras that she might have in the cargo bay; however, I have reason to believe that whatever unknown mishhu tech the science officer procured wormed its way into the grid and is draining our power. If I am right then I suspect I can isolate this thing in a hell of its own greed though I’ll need some supplies from the nearby locker, clarify what is in armory and cargo bay, and probably the assistance of 1-2 extra people. This is becuase just need someone will probably need to grab something from armory with well smidgen more stopping or … better yet… more distracting power than pistols especially as we weld the the front door shut. So first is there any weapon and person you can suggest?”

Before she asked, Kame had already prepared the power distribution system by lowering, to only the most necessary levels for back up lights, doors, and refrigeration, the power going into the galley, warden room, recreation area. She also had narrowed down to the particular conduit, the system ready for her to route the new left over to both the outer power conduits on deck 4 maintenance tunnel wall and directly from engine room to the lower hull so that the system could still independently provide power to the engines.

Edit 1: fixed misspelling of Eternity (instead of Integrity) and some initial minor errors >>;

Edit 2: fixed the rest of the error so that it at least sounds readable by the computer's standards

Moments after Ko issued his warning, eight NMX Bomber Pods emerged, and began making a run towards the starship. Their targeting systems attempting to a lock-on.

"Monomonoi-Hei, train the Heavy Dual Anti-Starship Gun Turrets on the Bomber Pods, and program the Heavy Quad Anti-Mecha Cannons for point defense to neutralize any missiles the launch." Katae orders.

----------------

Eternity replied, "There is no sign of physical activity in the cargo bay. The device is still where Monomonoi-Hei left it."

Hisa looked at Kame. "One of us must stay here in Engineering. Anderson-Hei should be able to assist you. The piece of debris must have some kind of induction technology given the havoc it is playing. Grab a pair of Type 28 Nekovalkyrja Submachineguns from the Armory. I'll notify Ise-Taii of the situation and that you and Anderson-Hei will be investigating the cargo bay. Move quickly." The brown haired Neko said.

"Aye, aye." replied the fidgety science officer, his gloved hands already moving into position to execute the defensive modus operandi necessary to eliminate this newest NMX threat against the YSS Aeon and its humanoid crew.

With well-oiled precision procured from his lengthy training back on Yamatai, Ko began the MEGAMI-guided process of locking on to the Aeon-bound targets. The familiar reticules rapidly acquired its intended targets, MEGAMI's seemingly mathematically infallible hit-to-miss calculations silently dotted alongside each of the digital representations of the enemy Mishhuvurthyar bomber-pods within milliseconds of the command given.

Targets acquired and the Anti-Starship Gun Turrets at the ready, the inexperienced Santô Hei gave the command with one last keystroke; the cantankerous sound of gunfire ringing out as the turrets began their automated spray of ballistics against the approaching enemy bombers.

Trowa frowned at his control board. "Why did they jump in like that?" he asked to no one in particular. But he didn't have time to dwell on it. Trowa suddenly pulled the Aeon into a steep climb, then barrel rolled to the left to avoid the NMX's fire. He ran a quick diagnostics check on the Aeon as he through the ship into another set of rolls, trying to keep the enemy destroyers from getting a lock on him. The diagnostics came up on his screen. They weren't real encouraging. Though Trowa had been able to keep the Aeon from getting hit by a full salvo of NMX firepower, they hadn't exactly gone without a scratch. A few more close hits and Trowa was afraid that they might actually do some structural damage. "Ma'am, how much longer do we need to hold these destroyers off?" His voice was a strained but there was no panic in it.

The NMX bombers made their attack runs, this time the Aeon's defenses dealt with the threat effectively. As fast as the missiles were fired the quad cannons turned them into scrap. Leaving the pods themselves to be handled by the secondary guns.

Katae monitored the progress, and actions of the crew. "Yamamoo-Hei, perhaps you have forgotten we have an Away team aboard one of those disabled ships we left. We can't leave system until we recover them. So concentrate on killing these ships and getting us back to them. Those bomber pods were most likely an attempt to distract us so that the destroyers could out flank us. The first destroyer we hit is still operational, if only just. Let's correct that situation."

The other pair of Gunships was tearing into one of the NMX destroyers. Its partner was moving away from that ship and making an attack run at the Aeon.

Trowa through a glance at the NMX destroyer that Away team was on and shook his head. "No Ma'am. I haven't forgotten. I'm just..." He stopped. The Taii was very aware of the situation. She knew what was at stake far better than he did. And she was the Taii. "Aye Ma'am." Trowa said as he brought the ship around for another pass. "One destroyed destroyer coming up." he said with cold humor.

Bringing the Aeon in for its third pass Trowa put as much power into the guns as he could without affecting the shields or engines. This time the Bloody thing had better die. He thought to himself as he fired the main cannon.

The third pass by the Aeon wreaked devastation upon the NMX Destroyer tearing great rents in the enemy ship's hull. The Integrity coming back to fall into position with the Aeon added its destructive energies to the task.

As the two gunships streaked away from the stricken craft it exploded in a ball of plasma and twisted metal.

As the first of the new wave of Mishhuvurthyar vessels erupted into little more than remnants of its former militant glory bathed in volatile plasma residue, the familiar NMX-shaped blip vanished from the all-encompassing MEGAMI-based sensor array.

"Hit confirmed." reported the science officer solemnly, lips curled in a minor frown as Ko eyed the glow from afar within the confines of the YSS Aeon's bridge. "Enemy Destroyer eliminated."

Trowa gave a brief "Yea-HA!" as the NMX destroyer exploded. But he couldn't celebrate for long, they still had a three more of the bloody things to take out. Trowa pulled the ship back for a broad sweep of the area, trying to get an idea of where to attack next. One of the NMX destroyers had been very close to the one they had just destroyed. "Monomonoi-Hei, see if that destroyer who was covering the one we just blew up took any damage in that explosion?" Trowa was hoping that since the destroyer had been coving the other, it may not have had its shields up on that side. With any luck, the destroyer might have at least had its shields weakened.

Giving a nod in response to Twowa's inquiry, Ko swiveled back into position at his science console, swallowing hard following the harrowing elimination of the Mishhuvurthyar destroyer. Perusing the MEGAMI's various sensor arrays and giving the console another loving keystroke, Ko watched as the various readouts were produced with epic rapidity by MEGAMI's sophisticated software in what seemed like a fraction of a single breath.

"Sensors indicate significant damage to the enemy vessel's shields from the plasmic explosion. Hull seems to be intact with no noticeable structural compromise."

Trowa smiled tightly. His guess had been right. But they would have to act fast. "Alright then. Integrity, this is Aeon. That second destroyer’s shields were damaged in the explosion." Trowa informed his wingman. Trowa had flown the same attack patter for their last two sweeps. He needed to change things up in case the NMX caught on. "Form up for a double scissor attack." Trowa instructed as he moved the Aeon into position.

The NMX Destroyer pirouetted to bring its main weapons towards the Aeon. The enemy ship unleashed a barrage that was absorbed by the shields, some of the unstopped energy impacted the hull of the gunship. The shields of the Aeon held but were greatly reduced.

"Blast, Yamamoo-Hei keep our forward shields away from the enemy." Katae called out, then grabbed the intercom handset, "Engineering fortify the forward shields." she sent.

"Oof!" meeped the skittish Science Officer, rocked by the direct hit against the Aeon from the enemy destroyer's primary weapons' array. That familiar flashing sanguine warning once again made its presence alight on Ko's console as the current sit-rep was displayed in brief but immediate detail.

It wasn't good news.

"T-that's a direct hit!" the Santô Hei squeaked out, shaken but hands already instinctively pulling up verbatim readouts of the Yamataian ship's sustained damage. "Shields are holding at thirty-seven percent. Minor h-hull damage detected. I don't think we can take another hit like that."

Trowa's Nepleslian heritage won out over his years of training and discipline. He swore. First in Nepleslian, then in Yamataian. "I'm trying!" he yelled, but his voice was drowned out by the blare of the warring alarms. Cursing again, he slapped a button that muted the alarms. "Integrity, go!" Trowa called to his wingman as he gunned the Aeon into motion.

Keeping the forwards shields turned away from the enemy as much as possible, the Aeon and the Integrity flew towards the NMX destroyer, crossing each other’s path in a double scissors attack. After two crosses, the two ships came in for their strike, the Aeon from above and the Integrity from below. Trowa fired the ships main cannons then dove straight down. Trowa had another plan, but since he did not have a computer interface connecting him directly with the ship, there was no way he could move fast enough to pull it off. Cursing softly at himself for not getting one before he was assigned to the Aeon, Trowa had no chose but to continue his dive away from the destroyer. "What kind of damage did we do?" Trowa grimly asked the science officer.
