"So Dirjon, how is your body feeling, any better?" She asked. He had almost begun to talk about how most of the pain had subsided before she switched focus again.

Hmm, right. Just like Theo, he thought to himself remembering how his little cousin used to be.

The tattoo caught his attention. It didn't seem like the kind of tattoo one got on a whim. Many times a sword or knife is used in the emblems belonging to mercenary or commando groups but she was obviously neither. He picked up the plate and began eating while he thought, looking back at it occasionally as if he missed something or like it would randomly change.

Taharail turned to Dirjon "answer me then" she laughed "it is called multitasking, I want both of you to feel like I am taking an interest with you" she looked at Tsuguka "yes I did put it in containment, it isn't moving but I can't take any chance with it". Taharial smiled and then sighed "no no no, not brainwashing, they are made the same way as our Neko's are, like you" she gulped "we could use the DNA from both like they have, but instead of what they do to make the Neko fight for their side, we load them with the star army information, so they are like all Neko in the Star army, but I would have to mess with the DNA a lot to make them less aggressive".

Taharial sighed "but it isn't going to happen, no one trusts that it will work, i will need to ask Hanako but I am afraid that I wont be able to try".

Dirjon thought deeply for a moment. "Overwriting their mind with SAoY information... Wouldn't that just be brainwashing?" He asked then added, "not saying I would disagree with brainwashing a living weapon to not kill me."

"When you say it like that, it makes me feel brainwashed..." Tsuguka just shrugged, and arced her neck slightly. "Nekovalkyrja don't really get to start with a blank slate all that often."

Choosing a seat in the corner and then curling up upon it, Toyoe just kept any further thoughts to herself whilst gazing at her knees. Looking simply restless, an effort was made to avoid making the other two feel uncomfortable, but... Well, the topic of conversation made her as such. Having unseen strangers fooling around inside your body was never a pleasant thought.

"Somebody should probably report the sample to the Shosho. She didn't sound like she knew about it when I talked to her before." A small, grim smile, and a flick of the ears. "I would do it myself, but somebody keeps ordering me to stay put."

Aikiko stood there waiting for someone to start helping themselves to the food, when the Shosho walked in after Tsuguka had left the wardroom. "Attention! Taisa on Deck!" Out of habit from her previous UOCPF days of showing respect to a senior officer arriving in the room and focusing everyone's attention on the Shosho incase she needed to put out vital information to them.

Taharial faced changed to look like she just killed a loved one "no no no! your not , no Neko is, its just the information they give you is all for Star Army and yamatai, so that you know that, with the ones that are made to fight against us, they are taught that we are the enemy, your not brainwashed" she looked down "you are better than others, it means you can't be swayed to other sides like others can". Taharial looked down "I will go. I have already insulted you and I don't want to make it worst" she got up and looked at them "I am truly sorry".

Wardroom

Taharial stands there completely oblivious to her outfit and smiled "hello all again, I am back" she grinned "I have something I forgot to mention, well two things for the Shosho" she gulped as she sat down and looked around "first thing is that we have a specimen from those things back on the planet, it is safe in containment, just you needed to know". Taharial looks around then smiled "second thing is, I want to make a Nightmare Neko, it will take ages to get right, but it will be a Nightmare Type that is loyal to the Star Army".

Since the ship was no longer rocking about, under attack or suffering from a damaged docking seal, Mitsuko decided to quickly shower and return to her room before eating. All of that rushing around and climbing in and out of one AMES after another had left her uniform and general appearance a bit of a mess. Although she thankfully made it through with all her limbs and bones fully intact. One fresh Duty Uniform later, Muakami politely excused herself as she slipped past Hanako and Taharial, so focused on the food on the other side of the room that she barely glanced at the pair conversing near the entrance. She did notice that Aikiko seemed to be standing at attention instead of heading for the buffet, but that just meant there was a little less competition as she began to fill her plate. She had that uninterested, distant look on her face again. Now that the crisis had passed, she was finding it hard to keep her attention on the present situation, although the food would be a welcome distraction.

Tsuguka put a hand out to stop Taharial from leaving, but it was already too late. With another shrug, she just settled back in and gazed at the luminescent ceiling panels.

"...I wasn't offended. I don't know if I can be offended by the true facts." She spoke forlornly to Dirjon, as if to just clear the air. "The fact of the matter is that things aren't so good versus evil when you aren't fighting mindless giant bugs. I don't think the poor girl has had time to realize the actual gravity of our Shosho's history yet... and the history of the Yamatai as a whole. Loyalty isn't about being on the 'right' side, it's about doing your best for those who have supported you in turn..."

"Sorry Dirjon-Hei, I'm rambling. No preaching intended." A shady glance over to him. It was kind of impossible for her not to look angry given the predatory shape of her face. "It's not like I have any idea how you naturals even decide on your loyalties given your... erm... rather disorganized childhoods."

Taharial's departure was sudden, too sudden for him to say anything. After she'd left Dirjon couldn't help but listen to Tsuguka's expressions. It made sense from her viewpoint.

"It's not the same for everyone," he explained, "the guy who killed my uncle was being sentenced to life in prison but was offered five years of military service instead. On the other hand, I joined SAoY to help my family. They offered to give my family citizenship and financial support. In the end it isn't my Yamatai I'm here for, I'm here for my family and as long as the empire takes good care of them I'm loyal."

"Well then Aikiko, you're volunteering to go down after mess to go over the shuttle with a toothbrush and a magnifying glass to verify that statement. Very good." Antonia smiled and then turned to see in the meal was coming along. She was a bit irked that th neko had just proven that the race could read Neplisian minds. she would have to contact someone back and home to pass that information on.

Once the Sho'sho walked in Tony walked up to her, "Ma'am the mess staff were already cooking something nice for you and the crew, they too scoffed the grilled cheese.. though I think you all are missing out. I also found a volunteer for the scrubbing of the shuttle. Permission to ask for the stash of Neplisian whiskey for dinner?"

Med Bay

"Is the Nepleslian military really that bad? Like being in prison?" Tsuguka glanced at her knees and then rolled her eyes back to Dirjon again, feeling awkward about the incredibly naive question. "It would... certainly explain why Cadet Stark acts so... erm... offbeat."

Several seconds silence, as the crimson woman embraced her muscular shoulders and leaned her head softly against the metallic wall. She bit her lip and looked along the floor, distracted by thoughts of strange primitive households and underdeveloped child-things running underfoot. It was all very confusing and inefficient, but also strangely attractive in a quaint sort of way. Idle fingers played with her hair braids girlishly.

A sudden snap back to reality, accompanied by a harsh narrow-eyed glance to Dirjon. It almost like a unwritten warning not to tell anyone about the accidental lapse in masculinity. "Do you want me to get you a fresh uniform before Taharial-Hei or the Shosho comes back?" She was talking with her fangs bared again, and her seating stance went rigid as a statue. "It would be better if somebody you're not attracted to helps you out..."

Yes. Definitely a warning.

It's not horrible unless someone makes sure it is," Dirjon explained, "Delmar Rey Morro murdered my uncle and nearly killed my father. He's on the frontlines now. The real difference is that SAoY use super soldiers that when killed can be respawned. In Nepleslia, they may or may not retrieve your head and/or save you. No room for error."

Yes. Definitely a warning.

Just as he'd started thinking he was safe around his superior Tsuguka snapped back to soldier mode.
'not attracted to'... I'm I really that transparent? he wondered.

Looking at the cast on his leg he couldn't see how he'd get pants on. "I think this thing will have to be cut off before pants are an option, Ma'am," he responded in a more military fashion, "my duffle bag is in the armor bay. I can retrieve it once I'm cleared to leave."

"The exercise uniform is probably stretchy enough." Her expression settled back down a little now, attempting to find a better balance than outright aggression. The end result was more like matter-of-fact-ness. "Best not to leave yourself too ill-equipped should the worst happen."

"...And, well, I'm sorry to hear about your uncle." There was a bit of an awkward pause, since Tsuguka didn't really know which expression to display. In the end, she simply copied Dirjon's and hoped for the best. "I hope this Rey Morro person gets their just deserts." The words were accompanied by a bit of an awkward leaning forward motion, as she habitually tried to pat the man on the shoulder using a hand that didn't currently exist.

A wince. Should have asked for stronger drugs.

"Me too," Dirjon responded sullenly then added, "You're right, I should get dressed. I'm not sure where spare uniforms are, though. Where are they kept?"

Natsumi departed from the bridge and went by her cabin to freshen up. Her uniform was not as neat as it could have been at that point and she wanted the excuse to be isolated from the crew a bit longer anyways. She ditched her current uniform jacket, putting it off to be washed and pulled on a fresh one. She sighed, wondering if she should just turn in for the night and sleep off her melancholy. But she was hungry too, which would not help matters any.

Stepping into the wardroom, making her way wordlessly past all the other crew to the buffet. She fixed herself a plate of food and got a soda to drink, then settled herself down at the corner table that she and Sienna would often share.

Kale spent some time picking out his food. Not to call him picky but he definately had a preferance to what he ate, didn't hurt that it also gave him time to chat with the cooks a little about what had being going on over the past months. He'd been told about the relatively new Soyokaze. He smiled wistfully, it was surprisingly easy to see chief Takeyu in the big chair. Mentally he wished them luck as he made his way over to the table.

He noticed Natsumi had retreated into a corner table away from the rest of the assembled crew, he frowned slightly at this but didn't think it'd be polite to butt in if she wanted some time to herself. With a barely perceptable sigh he made his way over to the main table, dodging around the immobile Akiko and took a seat.

"It's your choice, but meal times aren't usually so formal around here, might want to get some food before the rest of the crew empty the buffet." he murmered to her as he passed.

As he sat down he brought out the data pad at his belt, It had vibrated slightly while he was getting dinner drawing his attention to something or other it considered important. A little chibi picture of his sister flashing in the screen's corner told him immediately what the alert was about.

Hey bro,

Heard you got your old job back. Was great seeing you again though not in the manner I had quite expected. Either way, Anata asked me to congratulate you on a job well done. You remember that malfunctioning coffee machine you fixed the week before you left? Apparently it decided it doesn't like Fenchurch much, it douses him with hot milk every time he enters the little off duty kitchinette in the barracks. Either way I hope your settling in well. Next time we get together we need to get Niel and Rika in on the fun, I haven't seen them in like, forever you know?

All the best of luck,
Kira

Kale had to stifle a rather loud bout of laughter. Hearing that that stuffy old bat Fenchurch had even managed to get on the wrong side of a questionably semi sentient kitchen appliance raised his spirits a bit. That particular officer made sure to get into everybodies bad books. Sure he was a great logistical mind, administration of a remote base required such but he certainly wasn't the most likable of people.

With a shake of his head and a few giggles he started on his food.

Hearing what Kale whispered to her, she moved quickly to the buffet table ands helped herself to the variety of food offered. Once she had her selection, and her drink was of the non-alcoholic kind. She would leave that for planetside leave.

She looked around, taking note that one of the enior crew moved to sit by herelf and heard the few giggles from Kale. She sat across from him. "What's got you inna good mood?" She spoke to Kale, as she cut up the cajun fish dish in prepping it to be eaten.

"Carry on," Shosho Hanako said. "You can have Mitsuko or Victory get the whiskey," she answered Antonia, "just don't substitute the whiskey for dinner. Who did you assign the the shuttle?" she asked as she edged closer to the buffet line until she was in it. She also answered Taharial, "Perhaps you can can find a crew member who would be willing to transfer her consciousness into the Nightmare type you already have. It seems like that would accomplish the same thing." The Shosho listened for responses as she put shrimp and fish on her plate, followed by red beans and rice and some veggies.

"Message from my sister. For the last few months I've been on duty planetside at the Tami comunications base. Nice planet, boring job. Anyways the logistics chief, a man by the name of Albert Fenchurch was definately the most severe of the officer cadre on that rock. A genius to be sure, I mean he kept that base ticking all on his lonesome, but not someone you want to be stuck with at close quarters for any period of time."

"So the barracks had a little kitchinette, see, and the coffee machine had gone a little cuckoo. It was voice activated but had been messing up the orders it was given. When fixing it I may or may not have used a minor personality matrix to improve the thing. It was meant to anticipate little emotional cueues and modify the recipe a bit so for example adding a little cinnamon to a drink to perk up someone feeling a little down in the dumps and stuff. Nothing major. However I suspect that even it may have got tired of old Fenchurche's demeanor. Knowing him he probably ordered the thing around as if he were the empress himself. It wouldnt like that and thus probably refused to serve him. If he pushed the matter however... well im sure the responce was the best approximation it could make of the two fingered salute."

He showed the message to Akiko, drawing her attention to just how the irate machine had responded.

"From your mannerisms Im guessing that this isn't your first posting. I got disuaded from the overplentiful saluting in the first week after some good natured ribbing from some colleagues who unfortunately dont billet here anymore. So, what's your story?" He asked.

Taharial sighed "I wish it was that easy, the thing isn't the mind in that body, its the DNA." she sat down "you see, the DNA , in those creatures isn't good, it makes them really hostile to anyone, even us if we just put someone in it, it would be better to create a new body with more Neko DNA than the other, it would help more that that body".

Taharial looked down "but if you don't think it is a good idea, I will drop the whole idea" she looked up "it is just an idea anyway, I don't know if it could work in anyway, but it would mean that we can fight fire with fire".
