RP: 21st Fighter Sq [Mission 3.0] - Out of the Mist

Yaeko finished off her last magazine by aiming at any people that happened to be near the Chui. Once the magazine was empty Yaeko reported in. "Chui, I'm out of ammo. I'm heading down to retrieve Lynn and then I'm falling back." Yaeko untied the rope from around the tree, leaving it around her waist, and then dropping down from the tree, using her anti-grav to slow just before hitting the ground. Once she found Lynn she began creating a loop from the other end of the rope. "Eika-Heisho, we're going to need a real quick evac. If you could, drive by, slow down, grab onto the loop, and take off!"

At this point Yaeko used her remaining rope to tie Lynn to her back. She then used her anti-gravity to hover about 15 feet in the air, with the loop of rope hanging about 5 feet in the air. Her theory was that Eika could swing by on the Akira, grab onto the rope, and then tow them behind her, and Yaeko's anti-grav would essential as some sort of vehicle to keep from them dragging on the ground. At least, that was her theory...

Silic heard the gun shots and started crawling over, he managed to peer through the brush just in time to see Ira take the bullet. He shakily aimed his weapon at the one enemy he could see, he tried looking down the sights but suddenly started seeing eight of them spinning around. Not going to work, this one was going to have to be from the hip. He rested it against the ground, aimed it as best he could and fired.

When the last of the prisoners was freed, Konpeki covered their withdraw from the encampment. Then she dashed to her Akira, and pulled the camouflage off it stowed the cloth and activated it. "Message received Munkata-Hei." she sent telepathically.

She lifted and rotated towards Yaeko as she did. She then accelerated looking for the two soldiers and the loop. As she flew across the camp she turned lose the laser cannon on the front of the cycle. She then reached for the tow cable and fed out enough to give her slack. She slowed down only briefly to snag the rope look with the tow hook then let it fall from her hand and accelerated at a speed she hoped was safe for the to. She then turned southward and made sure to take into account the towed soldiers when she maneuvered around trees.

--------------------------------------------------------------

Silic's shotgun fired with a bone jarring jolt, that his broken arm did not appreciate. But the results were satisfactory, his target was slammed bodily into the rock that he was using as a baracade. A fist size hole in his back plainly visible to Silic.

---------------------------------------------------------------

As Atsui left the camp she looked at the spot where she told Ellisif to wait and provide cover. The newest member of the 21st lay dead on the ground. a large hole burned in her chest, the result of the wild blast by the Kylie.

She paused briefly to close the dead neko's eyes, and then hoisted her over her shoulder in a fireman carry and took the body to the LUT. She put Ellisif's body in the back and covered her with a tarp. "Okay, Wounded and injured into the vehicle. She pointed to one of the senior SSS, you drive. I'll walk along side the vehicle to provide cover if necessary." She said.

The LUT was filled to capacity, and those who were able, started walking along with it when it started heading away from the camp.

Lynn woke up with a shock. Who the hell was tying her up -- "NO!"

Lynn squirmed for a grip on her supposed kidnapper, and found purchase on her hair. She then tugged and used her new 'leverage' to squirm around enough to wrap an arm around Yaeko's throat just as Konpeki began towing them.

The jerk from the sudden towing possibly saved Yaeko her neck -- Lynn now clung for life instead of murder. She yelped and shut her eyes to the world.

"I'm screweeed~" She called into the wind.

After nearly feeling like he'd lost his arm for the second time, he clumsily pumped the shotgun against the ground. The spent shell flew out and Silic forced his arm to point in roughly the direction Ira had been hit from. Aiming was out of the question, by this point the world might as well have been a kaleidoscope. He just pulled the trigger and screamed in anticipation of much pain.

Yaeko choked a little before from Lynn's strangle hold, and then felt the tug as her arms were almost ripped from the sockets. "DAMN IT HOSHI! DOES THIS NOT LOOK LIKE A YAMATAI UNIFORM TO YOU!?!?" She continued to hang on as tight as she could as she reported in. "We're away Chui, orders?"

"Get to where the other LUT is, I know its drive is dead, but hook up the Akira's tow cable to it. We can put more people in it and tow it back we'll make better time than we are currently." Atsui replied.

The LUT she drove was moving at a pace that they could keep up with, but that also mean the hostiles if they pursued could catch up. They needed that second vehicle if they were going to have a chance.

Using her radio she sent a message to Silic and Ira,
"Numa-Chui to Rabbit Team, we are moving away with the prisoners. What is your status? Orders are to fall back to the stream post haste. I plan on towing the other LUT to help our injured get back to camp faster."

The round slammed into Ira's shoulder, and sent him stumbling into a back peddle. Ira had no clue what had just happened, and his body was reacting to the sudden shock on its own. Ira stumbled towards the tree, and toppled over against it. He sat there, against the tree, and his shoulder began pumping out red blood. Ira's eyes welled up and he began staring at the ground.

He sat, unblinking and seemingly calm for several moments until Atsui called in over the radio. Ira came back to life, and suddenly he remembered where he was and what he was doing. A raspy and pain filled voice would reply to Atsui. "Numa-Chui, this is rabbit team, message received. We are pulling out."

Ira stood up, remembering heard a shot gun blast before the Atsui's call came in. He then used his radio to contact Silic. "Vas-Hei, pull back to the rally point, I will cover you."

Ira then attempted to manipulate his rifle but found his left arm was little more then a limp hunk of meat that could hardly function. With his good arm he slung the rifle over his back, and drew his pistol. He would wait for the last man to fire, and attempt to finish him, so Silic could make his run.

Ira would get his chance as the sniper who nailed him was forced to move from his vantage point by Silic's Dragonsbreath shot from his shotgun which set the tree ablaze.

"Eika-Heisho!" Yaeko screamed, "The Chui says to report back to the rally point at the river where we left the other LUT! Be ready to tow cable up to that LUT and pull the wounded in it!" Yaeko had finally started to get the hang of being pulled by the Akira, and was basically operating it as she would be pulled from jet ski when water skiing. After a few moments she looked back. "You alright back there!?"

Silic's cry was overridden by a roar of flames as the dragonsbreath poured out of the barrel of his shotgun and into the foliage. When Silic inched open his eyes he found a huge furrow scorched plants in front of him. A tree burned, and he saw a figure jumping down from it, slapping at small flames on his clothes.

He heard Ira's order and tried to scramble, having to use to shotgun to haul himself upright, hauling ass as much his he could back into the brush. He stopped long enough to hook his shotgun through his helmets strap on the ground before continuing towards the road.

Konpeki slowed the Akira as she approached the rendezvous site. She lowered it down and her two tag-a-longs. Once they touched the ground she turned to them and said. "You heard the Chui, once you untie yourselves, take the tow hook to the LUT and let's see if we can't have it pointed in the right direction by the time the others arrive."

Ira leveled his pistol at the sniper, and took his opening. He squeezed the trigger, and it sent a pulse forward at the sniper that had tagged him.

Regardless of if it hit, Ira immediately would high tail it out of their. He began running, and was soon on Silic's heels.

Yaeko didn't even wait for Lynn to finish before she had her knife out and had sliced through the rope. "Bad guys trying to kill us, no time." She rushed over to aid Lynn hooking up the tow cable to the LUT, and once it was hooked up she stepped a good twenty feet back. "Okay, you're set! Hoshi, you might want to step back, the last thing we want is for the axle to fall of and the LUT roll on top of you, or some leftover gas to explode, or something else of the not-so-happy type."

Konpeki took up the slack, "Okay, one of you take the wheel, the electric drive may be dead, but the steering is manual, so we can work on getting it turned around before the Chui arrives."

"Oh lovely...." Yaeko carefully walked over to the vehicle and then got in, being careful not to disturb anything. "Alright! I'm ready, just be careful, I enjoy being in one piece." Yaeko grabbed the steering wheel firmly and paused to giver Konpeki time to start moving the vehicle before she began turning it into the proper direction.

Konpeki eased the damaged LUT forward by pulling it with the Akira. She then motioned for Yaeko to turn the wheel the other way so she could back the LUT up. In a convoluted three point turn with the Akira providing propulsion.

---------------------------------------

Atsui and the prisoners continued making their way to the rendezvous point. Their speed was hindered by the injured, but so far there was no sign of pursuit for them.

---------------------------------------

As Ira and Silic made their way back down the trail a few of the smugglers fired a few rounds after them But did not appear interested in giving chase.

Once the LUT had stopped moving Yaeko poked her head out the window and noted Konpeki's motions. "Right away!" She turned the wheel as far to the opposite direction as she could, not quite sure how they planned on reversing off of a tow cable. "Alright, you're good! I just hope you know what you're doing."

Konpeki rotated the Akira and brought it over the LUT so that she was behind it. She then applied slow and constant thrust so that the hovercycle would pull the truck in reverse. Because of the changing position of the truck Konpeki had to make constant adjustments, but after a few minutes the LUT was properly aligned for her to tow it forward back down the path they came up on. She landed the Akira in front of the LUT and waited for the Chui and the survivors to arrive.
