Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

"Gotcha!" Asher dragged Nyton's body over to the table and heaved the corpse over the table. "Got anythin' else f'me?'

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

Azumi just nodded as she began withdrawing some surgical equipment. "That should be fine. Now lets see if we can remove the helmet. How does this thing come off anyway?" she asked out loud absently.

"Simply remove the helmet from my pilot's head, ma'am. I will unlock it for you." came a voice from the suit. It sounded eerily a lot like Nyton's. Azumi jumped, not expecting this before composing herself.

"Ah..... did Claymere-Taii just.... talk? Did you hear that too Westwood-san?" she asked with a bit of fright to her voice.

"Negative. My pilot is dead. I am Telemachus, Phoenix Corp PHALANX suit combat computer, registry 751534935-7542. You were positively identified as 'friendly' medical personnel and I am thus allowed to communicate directly to you through my system's loud speaker. My pilot left post-mortem instructions via his cybernetic memory and computer device. One of them was to cooperate with medical personnel to assist in his revival." the suit explained.

Azumi gave out a sigh of relief. "Oh okay. A second there I thought I was either being haunted or going crazy. Alright then.... uh suit. Unlock the helmet so I can begin extraction of his brain chip thing."

"Yes ma'am. Be careful with my master now." Telemachus said before an audible hiss was heard. The helmet came off easily to reveal Nyton's face. To Azumi it would seem as though the Nepleslian had died in incredible pain. His eyes were still wide open as they looked out vacantly back at her. He had died without even realizing that he was dead yet.

"OKay here comes the messy part." she said while donning some gloves and a smock before drawing out a scalpel saw. The instructions Hoshi had on file for the recent removal were crude since Hinoto had simply used her knife to retrieve the device. This time Azumi was hoping not to be as messy. Given that the patient was already dead though there was no need to be gentle.

As expected, blood flew out from Nyton's head once the blade came in contact with the skull. After a large enough extraction hole had been made all that was left was to scoop out the cybernetics. At first she was not sure where the wiring was since the previous meshing had been to perfect. It was a foreign object and yet his brain seemed to embrace it and was accustomed to it. Being sure not to damage any of the sensors Azumi removed Nyton's memory recording computer device and set it on a tray.

"Well, that was new to me." she exclaimed before removing her gloves and walking over to an open hemosynthetic tank. She primed it up for creation of Nyton's body along with ST implant and brought the device over for insertion. Floating up she then deposited it in at the same time Hinoto had done so previously so as not to divert from already established procedure.

"I guess now all we do for him is wait and let the program do it's work." Azumi concluded. "Now then, what's next?"

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

Asher had been taken aback from hearing Nyton's voice come from the armor. He jumped back and held up his Plasma Gun, pointing it at the supposedly dead commander. Nyton was supposed to be dead, right?

"Negative. My pilot is dead. I am Telemachus, Phoenix Corp PHALANX suit combat computer, registry 751534935-7542."

Oh! An A.I.! Well, that was alright to Asher.

Wait... No it wasn't! Why the hell did Nyton get an armor that could have a talking A.I? That wasn't fair! Was it because he was Nepleslian? Oh ho, Asher'd op for a Nepleslian body, if it were possible, just to get himself a talking A.I. While Azumi began cutting away at the commander's head, he began to contemplate what he could do with such a thing. For one, he could always use something to crack a joke in a situation when everyone was too serious, like earlier in the day. Or... Perhaps when every time he made a kill it could moan in pleasure while saying something like "Wicked Sick" or "Headshot", thus intensifying the joy out of combat.

"Well, that was new to me."

Asher got drawn away from his thoughts from Azumi's exclamation and started paying attention, having missed the bloody parts.. He watched her ready the ST machine and then insert the cybernetic. For some reason, it felt like they're were baking a Nyton.

"Uh huh." Asher looked at the corpse on the table, and idly raised a finger in it's direction, "So, whatta we doin' wit Nyton's old body? Y'want me t'get it outta' here?"

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

"Nah, if the body is going to get reconstituted we can do that here. I suppose we should remove the body from the Armor just the same though. How does this suit come off anyway?" Azumi replied while redirecting her attention at the dead Nepleslian and replacing the helmet on his head. The sight of his death mask was not exactly one she wanted to keep looking at.

Already the hemosynth chamber was busily working on recreating the said Nepleslian's body.

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

"Hm..." thought Asher, looking at his commander's PHALANX. As an armorer, he knew how to work equipment like this, but this armor was unique since it wasn't a YSE standard. During his technical training, he was taught how to operate, arm, and maintain PHALANX units, but that was so long ago. Not only that, Nyton likely modified it with a few changes, including that bad-ass A.I. "Let me see if I can rememba' correctly." said the Malifarian, slapping his hand on the shoulder of the armor.

"Ey, Scrappy, y'got control of that armor's systems, yeah? Well, last time I checked I wass' n'Armorer." went Asher to Telemachus, shaking the armor now, "Activate y'maintenance override and open up, we're pullin' y'Masters old body out n'stickin' it it in tha' paper shredder."

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

In defiance to Asher Telemachus locked the helmet to the body to restrict access to Nyton's brainless skull. "Negative. My master's post-mortem instructions specifically mention that his corpse is not to be disposed of without his express permission. You are not registered as medical personnel and do not have further permission to access me."

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

"Well, alright then." said Asher, placing a hand on the Phalanx's remaining torso. The Malifarian didn't seem all to pleased with the equipment's defiance, but it was something that would likely require someone above Nyton's rank or Azumi to do properly. Even so, the Nepleslian commander left specific instruction not to mess with is body, beyond the head.

"Apparently it ain't our problem, Azu." chuckled the Armorer as he pushed the armor off of the table; it would land on the other side, opposite of where Nyton would be resurrected. "Might as well hide tha' lil'scrap heap until Clayboss gets his wits, yeah?"

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

Nyton said:
Ayumu frowned as she studied the scanner results. Sanjuro, while still an eyesore to her, was a welcome presence regardless. "Doctor, the scanner reads massive blunt trauma. Her sternum has shattered to the point where her cartilage is holding the rib cage together. I am going to need some help removing the chest plate but then the matter of treatment will be difficult." she said while putting the scanner off to the side.

"All of her injury is internal so we would have to find some way to expose the damaged area to hemosynth. It may be possible to apply some infusions to her chest area and let the fluid travel about her chest cavity. Or maybe create an incision which would allow a direct access to the trauma where we can apply fluid. I am uncertain as to how to approach this one Doctor." Ayumu finally admitted.

"Acceptable suggestions," Sanjuro said as he quickly gathered a set of medical supplies from the nearby storage. All of Ayumu's information had already been, for the most part, deduced by the doctor on his own; he was no expert on the mechanics and delicate inner workings of powered armor, but even his lack of experience could gather the severity and manner of injury Masako had sustained. Sanjuro spoke again, his droll manner of speech laced with a small amount of urgency, as he retrieved a syringe with a slightly longer and broader needle than what most medicinal purpose was accustomed to. "However, removal of the armor could present us with addition problems or even worsen the condition. Thus, I recommend using the obstructing material in a way more beneficial to the process."

Sanjuro hastily prepared the syringe in one hand while raising a small container of prepared hemosynthetic fluid, jutting the needle into the lid and slowly extracting the entire contents of the vial. "We will make a small incision in the armor below the sternum and apply hemosythetic fluid into the afflicted area to hasten the skeletal reconstruction. Usually I would set the area with knitted fiberglass bandages impregnated with polyurethane, or thermosoftening plastics molded to the afflicted area, but the armor itself should hold the body enough for the bones to set naturally," Sanjuro droned on as he lightly tapped the cylinder of the hypodermic needle with a delicate fingertip. "The large concussion in the armor is a complication; its presence in Kurohoshi-Juni's chest could be problematic. Although once the ribcage and sternum have reached a point of solidity we can remove the armor and allow the injury to heal properly."

The chief medical officer turned his head to Ayumu for the first time during the whole of his explanation and gave her his best blank stare to reassure himself that she was still following him. Satisfied that Ayumu was paying enough attention, Sanjuro began to make the motion to assist Masako up and into the medical bay from her stationary place at the bulkhead door. "Help me get Kurohoshi-Juni to an operating bed. Carefully."

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

"Yes Doctor." Ayumu said while moving to assist Sanjuro transport Masako. She braced herself to move the now still Armor to the table.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Azumi just shook her head at Asher, unsure of what else to do when the hemosynthetic tank signaled that Nyton would soon wake up.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

The hemosynthetic tank nearby had completed it's process. Nyton's body had finished being restored. The memory recorder synchronized once again with a new body. The sensation was familiar to the memory recorder's computer system. It seemed as though the computer had now accepted and processed the event. It adapted. Having been aware of events even after Nyton had died it was able to update his brain with everything it knew. Due to Telemachus remaining active despite it's damage Nyton could recall the entire battle with Eve until it's brutal completion. All communications made were picked up and listened to. This time there were no strange dreams or visions, the memories up until the moment the recorder was sliced out of his skull was the dream. Nyton felt like he had just woken up.

Opening his eyes the Nepleslian stared out of the tank at Azumi. His gaze was not pleasant nor menacing but there was no benevolence behind it. Without any telepathy he was projecting one order: Let me OUT.

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

"Hey Clay-boss! Wassup?" greeted Asher loudly, not sure if Nyton could hear him or not. He waved at the nepleslian man inside the restoration pod. At the very least, when he was little, Asher learned that a warm greeting was always good for settling the atmosphere. What a better way to start out a man's first five seconds in his new body?

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

Once Yukari's backup was complete, Miyoko raised the helmet of the soul transfer device from the Shosa's head. "You're all set," she said as she offered the woman a hand up.

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

The look on Nyton's face sent chills down Azumi's spine. She quickly went over and drained the tank. As the fluid drained out the Nepleslian wiped off the residue from himself. The chamber opened up and allowed Nyton to step out.

"Claymere-Taii? Are you okay?" the nurse asked.

Nyton inhaled deeply for several breaths. Then he moved his arms around, clenching his fists as he went. Yes, I think so, Mizuki-Hei. was his telepathic reply.

"Oh, well, okay. I need to go see to Freeman-Juni then." she said slightly confused before moving on to check Tom's status. The tank's scanners indicated that the Engineer's injuries had sealed up and were stabilized. She activated the tank's awakening system which sent signals to bring Tom back to full awareness before draining the tank.

While Azumi worked on waking Tom, her previous patient, Nyton was confused how the nurse had replied to what he believed he had not said. He recalled expressing the desire to respond and his mind had put together the response but somehow she had replied before he could verbalize it. On top of this puzzle was how calm he felt. It had been traumatizing to endure death the first time. This time he felt different. His body was also feeling fresh and rested. However the level of rest felt different to Nyton. He was energized beyond what he sensed was his usual level of stamina. There was something odd and yet normal about this. The conflict was puzzling but he knew there were more important matters at hand.

"Westwood-Hei, what is your injury's status? I need everyone ready for the next assault immediately. Just because we've won against Eve doesn't mean we can forget about the SMX." Nyton quickly said over to Asher while moving over to his discarded suit. "Telemachus, let me in. I need to get you repaired."

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

Gingerly, Mara stepped out of the mangled rear hatch of the Fox shuttle. The T4 was in theory still functional, but twisted as it was the sprite considered it totaled.

After a few steps she glimpsed both Kai and Kyou standing over Nimura's power armored formed.

Kyou said:
"We should probably get her out of the armor whether she is or not. We all need to get to the med-bay, and I doubt the two of us could carry her there in her armor. Unless she feels up to walking there in her armor..."

"Oh, don't worry. Once she'll regain her senses she's likely to just pop back to her feet like nothing happened.

...and a second later Nimura did exactly that, picking herself up to a kneeling posture and then stand steadily. Despite being right, Mara was left blinking. "Whoa."

The sound of Surtur's half-fastened chestplate grinding open interrupted any further talk. Kotori, her exposed skin colored a mottled bruised purplish and the whites of her eyes now red, jumped down from the mecha's piloting cavity and regarded the battlefield gravely.

The Taisa paid attention to her hair lightly stirring to some small breeze and frowned before speaking: "Nimura, take Eve's endoskeleton and bring it to one of Hoshi's cargo bays for storage. Mara, I want you to board Vermillion and return it to one of our armor bays - perhaps we can either salvage it, or repurpose it."

"Hai!" Mara made a run for Vermillion's opened cockpit.

"You two should go get yourselves treated," the Taisa then ordered Kyou and Kai before she allowed herself a moment of distraction - one she spent looking at Nimura lifting the opponent Kotori had worked to defeat for the last four years.

Kotori had her revenge. She had needed it, but she was no longer sure of how to feel about her accomplishment. The cost in blood - blood of people whom were under her command, people she cared about - had been too high to have the achievement feel like any true victory.

The amber-eyed Taisa then contacted engineering. "I'd like some of our remaining power armors sprites to come to the wardroom and salvage the power armors and Surtur's remains. Once that's done, the wardroom is to be condemned." The wardroom was too large for the forcefields to hermetically hold air in, so, reducing the area to cover to the corridors while exposing the wardroom to space would stop the atmosphere leak and save power.

@Nyton:

"Taii, you should know that your present body is Yamataian," Hoshi informed Nyton. "You had an agreement with Miharu that you would try one after your second death. There should be no compatibility problem with your memory chip and I believe you'll value the telepathy and greater AIES compatibility until you can gain access to a Nepleslian body with your desired cybernetic enhancements."

Hoshi's AI continued with: "My attempt to hack the PHALANX construction platform have met mixed results. Copy-protections removed access to NDI technology but the nanoconstruction platform was repurposed thanks to Eve's meddling, allowing me to provide you with something which may suit your needs."

Nyton said:

"Eh... Lessee' here, uh..." Asher looked over at his limp arm. He had attempted to keep it as still as possible the entire time he was standing there. "My reararm's all broke in half, boss. Amumu tol' me that iss' gunna' take n'hour t'heal up, but I have t'sit my ass down f'tha' whole time f'it work." The Hei then rested his arm on the table on which Telemachus had been before he shoved it off. "My armor's broken on tha' reararm, too. I'll eitha' have t'suit up wit' somethin' else, or try t'spot the break wit' a lil' fabrication."

Asher then slapped his chest with his better, gun-toting hand. "If we gotta' hour til' tha' squiddies arrive, I'll be slick as shit, n'right as rain when tha' time comes t'fight. Or." The Malifarian pointed to the machine Nyton just came out of, "I could get a back-up, and you guys could process me into a fresh skin, n'knock off tha' wait."

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

Yukari took her time getting up from the chair, but once she did, she firmly nodded to Miyoko and let Hoshi update her on the other officers' movements.

"Thank you, Juni-san," Yukari said after the update. "I will see you on the bridge later."

She started to turn — and then saw Tom's projected image near the hemosynth tank containing his body.

The Shosa stared at it. His wounds were severe enough to land him in the tank, she thought, but he would be physically healed. His mental damage ... if there was any, she chastised. My Yuki-san is a durable soul. He will survive.

Yukari was next to Azumi as she sent the signals to reactivate Tom's body. She did not speak to the Neko, focusing only on the tube. I hope I am a pleasant sight for him to wake up to.

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

Kai was quite amazed when Nimura popped back up as if nothing had happened- exactly as Mara had predicted. He was about to say something when Surtur opened, revealing a very bruised and beaten Taisa, whom then ordered him to go get healed. The Yamataian was about to protest- His arms and hands didn't hurt THAT bad, and they would probably start flaking the burned skin off soon to heal the damage- But he knew that arguing against the Taisa was a bad idea. instead, he retrieved the spiked pauldron from where he had spiked it into the ground, careful to keep the tip up, and made his way toward the med bay. He knew all they could really do for him at the med bay was give him painkillers, so he decided to simply continue past it, figuring there were others more injured than himself that needed it, and went to look for a place to put the Pauldron. Probably back in the armor bay, next to the custom gun he had salvaged earlier.

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

Of course it made sense now to Nyton. However this Yamataian body had done more than just make him feel stronger. His now digital brain was more than compatible with his memory recorder computer system; it had seamlessly melded all the data and memories within it and adapted his body around it. The ramifications of this would have to be more fully explored later but he had a solid idea as to just what this meant as far as his endurance went.

Very good, Hoshi. I will be at the nanoconstruction pad shortly. Nyton telepathically replied. He had been uncertain at first as to how the telepathy functioned. But it turned out to be more simple than he thought. His previous attempts to communicate telepathically with his cybernetics had been crude, unfocused, and unencrypted. This time around his Yamataian prepared brain simply did the work his cybernetics could not.

Telemachus accepted Nyton's orders and released the helmet. Nyton pulled it off to stare back at his dead face, a visage he had not been able to behold with his original Nepleslian body. Taking a sharp breath Nyton closed his dead eyes before reaching in to extract the corpse from the suit.

"We don't know if we have an hour. We'll need to focus on getting your Armor fixed first. We'll head for the Armor bay and fix your arm first. I'll need you to get to work on salvaging." Nyton said while he worked. The PHALANX opened up to let the body out. The damage was stark, letting Nyton see just how bad a decision it had been to use his plasma to eliminate Eve's infestation. Once the dead body was removed he then proceeded to strip it of it's damaged uniform. Dressing himself quickly, his midsection visible due to the area being burned away at the point he had lanced himself. He left the body, naked, on the table of the medbay. Leave a note for Medical Personnel; Nepleslian body for special disposal, do not reconstitute yet. he telepathically messaged to Hoshi.

"Westwood-Hei, I need you to carry my PHALANX to the bay. Let's move out." Nyton ordered after he finished getting dressed.

--------------------------------------------------------------------

Azumi saw Yukari approach but was hesitant to speak. She stood by silently in case Tom required further treatment.

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

"Ah well, it wass' worth a shot." shrugged Asher as he dragged his broken arm off the table, letting it hang at his side as he started loosing his Yarvex line with the other. The Hei then tightly fastened the intricate, unbreakable rope around the Phalanx's legs, making sure he had gotten in around the same spot he had when he had carried Ichigo in. Then, with a squat, grunt, a lift, Asher had successfully heaved the bloodied armor off the floor of the med-bay.

"Alright! I'll see you fellas lata'. Get betta' soon, you guys." encouraged Asher, as he stumbled out of the med-bay, then picking up a controlled stride as he learned how to balance the weight of this carried armor with his own.

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

The deafening torrent of liquid draining from the Hemosynthetic Reconstruction Tube filled Tom's ears. The cold, sticky remnants of the restorative bath clung to his skin, gooping, then cracking to dust as warm currents of air filled the tube.

His body shifted in the process of waking. The webbing from the tube held him in place like a trapped insect, and it prevented Tom's body from falling and smashing his head against the transparent cylinder.

Suddenly, the Engineer's body rattled with a cough. His blonde-yellow hair was a mop over his head, little bits of string parting under the sudden bursts of wind from his mouth. His shut eyes squinted tightly, his head rolling gently in the webbing.

Then both eyes cracked open and Yukari filled his vision.

He smiled.

"Good morning."

The happy moment was cut short as Tom winced, suddenly realizing just how tender his recent wound still felt.

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

Yukari flashed a wide, toothy smile, then dipped her head.

"Good morning, betrothed," she replied. "Please do not overexert yourself, or there will be nothing left for me." Her tone was suggestive, but bursting with giddiness. He was still Tom, inside, she thought.
