"Secondary Cannons and Missles are hot Taisa. Will engage once in range. Aether Pods on defensive standby and Turrets are ready for broadside battles." Nika announced, noting the weapons the SMX ships have.

Sune could see that Konoka was worrying about her friends, so he walked over to Konoka, "Miyazawa-Hei, all we can do for now, is standby and be ready to respond to any situation as quickly and efficiently as possible. You have your medkit and scanner. Just as I do, so we both have to do the hard part. Wait. Would it help to occupy your mind if we discussed possible injuries, and the appropriate treatment, or would that just make you more concerned about our crew?"

Ramiro watched closely and once the enemy ships were in range he shot the main cannon directly at the leading ship. "Main cannon is away Taisa. Himeya-hei, you may take control of the main cannon if you wish as it is your area of expertise. Also I must concentrate on piloting and battle maneuvers."

Konoka smiled weakly. "Believe it or not, I was already going over that in my head: That would indeed be helpful. What have you thought of, Jalen-Hei? At least we have two heads to put together, so we'll think of anything!" Konoka was now beginning to see the beauty of having an assistant: She'd have a second brain ready to think of how to help the crew. Also, it was a stroke of luck that Sune posessed none of the spazzy mindset that hindered Konoka, while Konoka brought forth the drive to help others that set clearheaded Sune's plans in motion. This was perfect! She was less worried now: The burden of how to help the crew was no longer solely on Konoka, even though Konoka had never minded it. They would be able to bring twice the help.

"Alright, Sune-Hei, let's see what you can think of to add to the list! Let's be ready!" Konoka smiled. After all, two heads were better than one.

The bright pulse of the aether shock array burst forth from the Eucharis' dagger-like nose and raced across space where it hit the lead ship, hitting the SMX gunship's shields hard, but not majorly. Its luck didn't last long; the other three ships in Second Squadron fired on the same ship and all three hit, demolishing its shields and damaging the enemy gunship significantly.

At this point, all the ships were in each others' range, and the Xianthrafruglus began launching battle pods.

Ramiro continued to monitor the positions and conditions of all the ships on his terminal. When the enemy ship was hit Ramiro turned his head around to address the Taisa. "Ma'am we have a direct hit from the Eucharis and the other three ships in the squadron. The lead enemy ship is showing complete depletion of all shields and roughly a 60% damage percentage to the main hull." Ramiro then turned back to his screens just in time to see the enemy pods being deployed. He leaned towards his screens as he had the computer zoom the camera in. "What the...uhm, Taisa we have multiple...unidentified spacecraft moving in this direction." He pulled up the video feed onto the main screen. "What are those?"

The image zoomed. Or, at least, a small portion of the image in the right hand corner zoomed.

It flicked quickly from one ship to the other, never pausing for more than a few seconds. Statistics entered the view and flashed briefly before being dismissed by the neurally interfaced Taii. Finally, that section of the screen was replaced with a picture of what looked like a ship schematic, accompanied by several numbers.

Suddenly the light of the panel in front of Hamada came on, and she sat forward. The small screen disappeared from the bottom right of the main. Immediately placing her hands on the console, she seemed somewhat tense.

"One hundred and four contacts identified as type two-six small attack craft. Their primary offensive weapon seems to be the same sort of positron cannon on their ships. They are also carrying a powerful anti-ship missile. As long as we stay at over a hundred or so kilometers a second, we should be able to avoid those, but if they spread out in a net we may not be able to avoid their firing pattern for long. They should be easy to destroy so long as we can hit them directly with some of our secondary weaponry."

Looking over her shoulder, the Taii gave the rest of the bridge crew a sort of disappointed look.

"Be advised, they can sense the use of telepathy."

Junko was watching a lot at the moment. Her repeaters were displaying the Auxiliary systems status screens, back-ups of the Mainspace screens, and information from the simulated battle. She watched for a moment on the Mainspace back-up as the power load numbers exploded briefly as the main cannon fired. But the whole equilibrated system was well enough maintained that there wasn’t the slightest fluctuation in the power supply for other systems, even some of the relatively low priority ones on her Auxiliary displays. If needed, they could be shut down to provide more power availability for weapons and engines; as such, Junko was busily updating the priority figures.

She was interrupted quite suddenly by the appearance of a bright scarlet warning on one of the monitoring screens. “Endoh-hei,” she said, turning to her colleague. “I’ve lost my telemetry link to the number six capacitor’s coolant system. Can you confirm this is just a connection error?” A telemetry failure wasn’t too pressing; nor, at the moment, would an actual failure of the coolant system, as the number six capacitor was on stand-by for Auxiliary power requirements. But if the Eucharis began rapid firing and the energy was needed, drawing on the capacitor without proper cooling could be quite bad indeed.

“Aye Aye Ma’am,” replied Hotaru as she followed the Taii back onto the bridge before quickly heading towards the Armour Bay as she had decided to make that her initial base of operations.

Floating through the passageway, Hotaru began issuing orders to her assigned crew members; Pineapple-Heisho, Blueberry-Juni, can you report to the Power Armour Bay, without waiting for a response she continued, Lime-Hei, Mango-Hei, your current stations will be guarding the Armoury. Blackberry-Heisho, I want you on duty guarding the bridge, also as backup for the bridge crew if needed. After a moments thought Hotaru sent to her assigned crew, If you need any equipment for your tasks, please stop at the Armoury before heading to your posts.

Hotaru sent one last order to Konoka, Miyazawa-Hei, I want you to be backup and Hospital Corpsman if we need medical assistance. Please ensure you keep your sidearm with you at all times if you haven’t already.

Arriving at the Armour Bay in quick time, Hotaru sent her crew assignments to Shizu-Taii via PDA so she would have a ready stored copy if needed:

Security Assignments and Locations

- Nito Heisho Yamamoto - PA BAY
- Itto Heisho Blackberry - BRIDGE
- Itto Juni Blueberry - PA BAY
- Nito Heisho Pineapple - PA BAY
- Joto Hei Lime - ARMOURY
- Joto Hei Mango - ARMOURY
- Nito Hei Miyazawa – MED BAY/Hospital Corpsman

Hotaru contacted the XO, Shizu-Taii, crew has been assigned duty stations. Pending further orders/developments, will begin prepping the Power Armours. What is the current situation?.

Taisa Hanako frowned in irritation as Hotaru sent out orders. What irritated her was the Heisho's orders to Blueberry. Not only was Blueberry higher ranked and not subject to Hotaru's orders, but it was sheer stupidity to send a rare technical specialist to the armor bay where she either stand around unable to assist in the battle or would be sent out to fight a hundred enemy pods. The captain decided to stay quiet for now and save her anger for the after action review.

The two squadrons now crossed paths in a lightning-fast frenzy of battle, firing on each other as fast as possible. The main cannons from the Eucharis and Starling finished off the first enemy ship. It crumbled into space dust in the white glow of aetheric energy. The Aurora and Nadeshiko hit a second ship hard as well, and with the anti-starship turrets now mounted on the Eucharis and Nadeshiko, they had a chance to finish it off.

Eucharis, as the primary target, took multiple hits that knocked out its shields entirely, as well as causing (simulated) damage to the main cannon and the port sublight engines.

"Hotaru, you just got injured," Hanako said, wanting to give the medics training as well. "Simulate being a burn victim."

The Taisa turned to her first officer. "Get a medic to her."

Konoka Miyazawa said:
"Alright, Sune-Hei, let's see what you can think of to add to the list! Let's be ready!" Konoka smiled. After all, two heads were better than one.

Sune smiled at Konoka, "Well, we should start with burns as those are the most common for ship combat. In order of severity starting with the worse there are plasma, electrical, chemical, and of course normal combustables, and lastly indirect burns from exposed heat sources including venting steam.

Next in ship combat are secondary injuries of course, lacerations and punctures from ejected debris, fractures compound and simple, impact trauma including concussions and internal bleeding, and lastly bruises. For most of those the Type 31 Med kit is sufficient, but we should probably see about getting a decon kit in case of chemical injuries."

"What do you think?"

The relative quiet of waiting for Endoh to check her feeds fled as the Mainspace back-up displays in front of Junko exploded in damage control codes, though all with the “SIMULATION” addendum after them. Her own Auxiliary displays showed some damage too, though minor leaks in the port water filtration system were the least of her worries. She locked down the warnings on the relatively unimportant systems and slammed her finger down on the master Auxiliary override button. In an instant, the filtration system, water distiller, crew cabin air conditioning and lighting, and numerous other low priority systems either deactivated or slipped into standby. “Endoh-hei, I’ve decreased Auxiliary power requirements enough to shunt you an extra 30% stand-by capacitor capability with redundancy to shut out the number six capacitor just in case.” Nodding at her screens in cool, professional satisfaction, while bursting apart inside in a subconscious puerile fit of excitement, Junko turned. “Do you need any help? I can handle on-site damage control if you need to stay here.”

Ship's force assigned duty stations, bridge, aye. Hamada wondered just how much of the telepathic messaging would be intercepted by the enemy in a real fight, or how useful it would be. The only messages being passed now were duty station action reports, and her own reports to the Taisa. Everything else seemed perfectly verbal at this point.

When the Taisa called for Hotaru, Hamada turned slightly to check that the leader of the ship's force was not in the room.

"Aye aye, Taisa-san."

Pushing a button on the console in front of her, Hamada accessed the medical bay's PA and spoke;

"Medical team: casualty sustained. Repeat, casualty sustained."

She also sent to Hotaru, who must have already been down the passageway; The Taisa has designated you a burn victim. Medical crew is on its way. Thank you for the roster.

While she was at it, Hamada also sent out a general message to the rest of the ship security team to continue with the drill, using their assigned stations. It rang a little wrong to the Taii that the Taisa had chosen the individual who had needed to learn her duties to put out of commission, but that was just the way things went.

Ramiro constantly checked all of the ships damage status as he maneuvered around the enemy starships as they passed. "Taisa, we have experienced a loss in shields. We have reported damage to the sublight engines, port side. Enemy ship number one has been destroyed and ship number 2 is experience a 40% loss in shield and 20% structure damage."

"Why are we not using the rest of our weapons? Finish it off!" Hanako ordered, sounding dissatisfied.

"Well, that's a good start, Jalen-Hei....." She trailed off, receiving Hotaru's message declaring her Hospital Corpsman. "Golly tuna! It looks like we she should be prepared for injuries...." She heard the message there was a casualty.

"Like now! Jalen-Hei, we have a burn victim! We need to get them some help, oh FISH, please determine the severity and type of burn! We've got to help some people...now!" She rushed towards the medbay door, hesitating, waiting to receive her patient. "Uh...do y'think there in condition to come here, or should we go find them.....Right, I should probably stay at my station..Quick, what'd you think, Jalen-Hei?" She grimaced ever so slightly. "Get your medical kit at the ready! Hell-o, we have a CASUALTY! Fish..."

Ah....time to help.

"We'd better go! Er...you stay here...Or should you go...Aaaah! Quick, we gotta help someone! Jalen-Hei, are you staying or going?!"

They'd better get this sorted out quick. The patient's health was deteriorating with every wasted second. "Fish..."

With the first SMX ship down and the second already taking damages, Nika quickly aimed the secondary cannons, missles, and anti-starship gun turrets at the latter and pushed the triggers as they locked on, hoping to destroy it...

However, as much as the shields, aether pods and anti-mecha cannons could handle the attack crafts, the Eucharis suffered damages as they had been concentrating fire on the flagship, which annoyed the neko, "And to think arranging data is tough!" She thought aloud as her eyes were all over the console, squeezing triggers at the attack crafts, as well and reaiming the secondary weapons at the last SMX ship, firing once they are locked and loaded.

And beam after beam gouged into its ugly green hull, the second SMX gunship was quickly reduced to an irreparable husk of burning scrap. Finishing the remaining two enemies was now fairly easy. Tremendously outgunned, the ships were overpowered by Eucharis' sister ships, even with the Eucharis main cannon disabled.

Taisa Hanako took an audibly deep breath as the battle ended, thinking back to the YSS Sakura's destruction at the hands of two of the same class of SMX gunship. The Eucharis had survived the simulation...barely. Now it was time for simulating damage control and for review.

"Hamada, Who is doing damage control on the port engine?" Hanako asked Shizu.

Sune watched Konoka's reaction to a call for a medic. If this is how she responds everytime... need to get her focused. he thought. Sune walked over to the intercom, "Miyazawa-Hei, get your med kit, and calm down. You know it is important that the patient see you as confident and able to handle the situation.

Since the call was for a medic to report, the patient must not be ambulatory. I will contact Hamada-Taii and find out where the patient is, then you can respond promptly and perform triage."

That said Sune punched in the intercom code for the First Officer, "Hamada-Taii, Jalen-Hei here, what is the location of the injured crewman?"

Konoka had uncharacteristically freaked out. This was unacceptable. She switched to her calm mode, the one that always worked best when treating patients. She snatched up her kit and stood waiting at the door. She would not make this mistake again: Every second was important. Now, she was ready.

"Well?"
