Shizu-Taii said:
"Heisho, do you have any questions or concerns I can address?"
Snapping out of her brief thought pattern, Hotaru replied, "If you don't mind, just a few thoughts I've had Taii; during Action Stations where will my post be? On the bridge monitoring Security/Tactical or elsewhere? If elsewhere what will I be doing at that station?"

Hotaru knew that wherever she is to be stationed will determine which duties she should/will be carrying out during Action Stations.

"Sure thing." Ramiro followed Sune over to the table and sat down. He silently removed his tunic and waited for Sune to begin the physical. "This doesn't take long does it?"

"There are a few people on the ship who do not have assigned duty stations. You will direct them to take up guard posts around the ship. Someone should be posted outside the bridge door, and in the hanger bay, at a minimum. During combat, you will make sure they are issued power armor and the appropriate small arms, and will standby as their commander, ready to deploy for combat if it is necessary."

Pausing, Hamada seemed somewhat unfocused for a minute, her gray eyes distant. She had, in all honesty, not paid a great deal of attention to this particular aspect of combat, and she was trying to remember exactly who all was going to be assigned to that particular duty. The cooks, for one. Who needed food in combat? One of the medics as well. She would have to decide which, soon. Hamada made a mental note.

"I think it's called the 'flying squad'," she finally said, coming back with a slight hint of amusement, "Does that answer your question?"

"That mostly answers my concerns Taii, thank you," answered Hotaru. "While I have no problems in what you've suggested Taii, I just want to clarify that in essence I will be a mobile 'command' unit with no particular station? If so, I will set up in the Armour Bay since if we are needed, it will most likely be for PA duties."

Thinking to herself, Hotaru was planning on how to go about her duties. I think if I'm to be mobile, or at random locations, I can 'path my orders to the relevant crew and also request Charisma, pending authorisation from the Taisa, to keep me updated on anything relevant that I may or may not be aware of.

Hanako got on the the intercom. "This is your captain speaking. We will now begin combat simulations. All hands to battlestations."

A simulated squadron of four enemy ships raced toward firing range of Eucharis and its squadron.

When the General Quarters alarm sounded, Hamada nodded to the ship's new Master-At-Arms, already walking towards the door back to the bridge.

"You are correct. Your team is mobile, and you will need a medic. Go down to the casualty center and grab one of them, and anyone standing around or without a battlestation you find on your way there."

The door slid open. As she passed through, Hamada said; "Dismissed!"

Crossing to the mission operations array, she swiveled her chair around and slipped into it, pulling her hair into her lap and connecting with the SPINE interface, immediately.

Taisa, com. Four inbound hostiles, she sent to Hanako, Class unknown. Scanning in progress. All ship systems show green. Propulsion at full power. Awaiting section reports. Transferring combat sensors to weapons panel. Standing by for further instruction.

Connecting remotely with her PDA, she sent out a file to all the Nekovalkyrja on the ship. This excluded certain crewmembers, but it was the fastest way she knew of to reach everybody. She should have done this earlier.

There were a lot of things she should have done earlier, her stomach reminded her.

Sune turned to Ramiro, "Guess we will take care of this later. You best report to your station." That said Sune put up the physical exam equipment then turned to Konoka. "Miyazawa-Hei, do you want to cover the med-bay or do you want to be triage and first aid?"

“I guess I will have to take care of this later,” said Junko, stopping short ahead of Miyazawa before the medic even had a chance to speak. “If you will excuse me.” Turning, she sprinted out of the hatch and made her way with all possible haste to her post. Arriving in engineering before Endoh, Junko checked over all of the consoles, mainspace and auxiliary alike. Hesitating only a minute to re-verify the status reports, she activated the intercom to the bridge. “Engineering to Bridge. I am awaiting Endoh-hei to assume command of the Mainspace, but in the interim all systems display full combat readiness and functionality. Engineering is prepared to respond to all helm and weapons demands.”

Faster than most could Ramiro whipped his tunic back on, still buttoning things as he sprinted down the hall without word. He zipped down the zero gravity passageway and entered the bridge. He quickly dropped into the seat of the station and started analyzing the surrounding area. "Taisa, there are four incoming. SMX class by the scans. Orders?"

Nika ran both programs in the system's simulator a few times, making sure that both probe and the survey platform had theoretically able to connect with one another and perform the necessary tasks as inputted. With the authorization code provided by Hanako, the neko patched the edited programs and watched in satisfaction as the probe docked onto the platform, uploaded collected data, refuelled, and then re-launched itself back into the planet's atmosphere.

A beep indicated an arrival of a message. As Nika was about to open it, Hanako announced the commencement of a combat simulation. She got up just as Ramiro came in and popped into the seat she was on earlier. The neko, too, return to her seat and opened several windows on the console; With SPINE interface up, Nika could do much more things than by hands.

"Everything seems to be in order..." She ran through the ship's systems, "Weapons all green and ready to fire once enemies in range, Taii." Nika called out to the XO as she went through the defences as well, "Shields up as well."

...Engineering is prepared to respond to all helm and weapons demands

"Engineering prepared to respond, bridge, aye," Hamada replied over the communications channel. It would be audible in the engineering mainspace. Hamada had already instinctively switched over to almost full telepathy now, communicating through the SPINE interface as well.

She checked the status of the preliminary scan of the oncoming ships. They were just illusions, she knew, but there would probably be information on them anyway. The ship knew it was running a simulation.

"Endoh-Hei here. I've assumed control in the mainspace. Mainspace engineering is ready." Slightly out of breath from having to go somewhere else instead of speaking with Hanako again, her hands flew over the inputs of her computer. "All systems are primed and ready. Diverting power from non-essential systems to mainframe. Green light for anything you need."

'All systems primed and ready, bridge, aye.' And then, to the Taisa; 'Taisa. All engineering spaces manned and ready. Confirm all systems green.'

Hamada closed her eyes. The scan results would be in soon, she was sure.

"Those are SMX gunships," Hanako said, looking at the scans. "Set interdiction fields so they cannot use their main cannons on us, and then close in. The Starling is our wingman. Charge the main gun. We have a range on it about twice the range of their secondary weapons."

Ramiro immediately responded to the Taisa's orders as he set the fields. While the interdiction field came online he had the ship begin charging the main cannons. He also made sure to lock the target on to the closest ship. "Interdiction fields online ma'am. Cannon is charging and target has been set to the closest target. Permission to fire ma'am?"

Nika was working as fast as she could, however Ramiro had took a step ahead of her adjusting the defence and charging the main gun. She went through the ship's simulated system once more, making sure they were all stable.

After securing the physical exam equipment, Sune picked up the handset and punched in the First Officer's code, "Hamada-Taii, Med-bay is manned and stands ready to respond to any medical situation." Just because this is a drill it does not mean that accidents can not happen. A good thing there are two of us, since the current assignments has the nurse on security. he thought.

"Daah...I hope nobody gets hurt! Jalen-Hei, how can I be best helpful?" Konoka stammered sincerely. Now she was worried....Could people seriously hurt themselves in this drill? Another worry on her mind was Takeda-Hei, she still hadn't been able to receive a backup. Konoka would blame herself if they were unable to restore her properly. Waiting for a response, she began running through a checklist of all procedures in fixing all likely injuries or maladies resulting from this excercise. She frowned, which she hardly ever did.

Well, at least there were two medics ready and waiting to fix anything. Settling into a sulk, she thought of the fact that she'd been unable to personally help anyone in a longer time than she'd like there to be. She scowled at this thought: Her wishes were unimportant, she must simply wait to assist everyone else. Everyone else was what mattered.

"Fire at will," Hanako ordered, watching her crew closely.

The enemy ships drew closer, nearing their firing range, picking Eucharis as their main target due to the ship's unusual paint job.

'Medical bay manned and ready, bridge, aye,' Hamada repeated. This was becomming a little faster paced, and Hamada felt herself sinking into the mindset. It did not come naturally. It was something she had learned over a period of time. Manning the bridge was a repetition that had impressed itself upon her neural passageways over endless simulations.

'Taisa, medical bay manned and ready.'

Mentally, she switched to sorting through the scans and the operational information associated with the enemies. The Mishhuvurthyar were a subject well studied by her particular rating, and if one were to judge by the sheer weight of the ribbons on Taisa Ketsurui's uniform panel, something that the Taisa would also be familiar with. Nevertheless, loyally, Hamada repeated;

'Three contacts identified as Sfrarabla Mishhuvurthayar Xharafuklurp vessels, class Xianthrafruglu, Heavy Gunships. Primary ordinance is the 'Lagacy Cannon'. Secondary ordinance are Subspace Positron Cannons. Recommend maintaining a distance of approximately three-six-point-one-eight kilometers, at speed of six-nine kilometers a second, evasive movement, in order to avoid positive targeting lock.'

Hamada felt lucky that she did not have to repeat that, verbally.
