Nodding in agreement, Junko turned to leave engineering. “I’ll be back in a moment.” Moving through the corridors back towards the cargo bay, she continued to look over the data on the QNCs. In the bay, she moved swiftly to container S8 and cracked it open. The two cells were plainly visible inside, each about 2 meters long, and 1 meter wide and deep; large, but not unmanageably so. Resealing the container, Junko moved to start back to engineering when she was stopped short by the information displayed on her communicator. Stowing it, she moved with all speed back to speak to Endoh. "I think we need to ask the Taisa to rethink installing the QNCs," she said, back in engineering. She offered up her communicator with the offending passage highlighted. "If you look at the anti-tampering section, that's where the concern lies. A system that we can't repair? That might report our location to a foreign entity? I don't think the Taisa will like that."

Konoka nodded at Sune thoughtfully. "You have a valid point, Sune-Hei. But remember: I've done this SEVERAL times, and think on this: Our backups are what help save our crew from death. Would not helping a person with such an important, vital thing be more important than doing it for yourself? This is my meaning.

However, if you do not feel comfortable with the technology, by all means....Though I would ASSUME an experienced medic like yourself would have been familliarized before now...However...." She giggled. "I'm happy to help you test your ability with his technology, if need be..." She then sighed dramatically. "But I do hope you consider how important this is to others!" She then coughed, and stood up straight. "Ahem..You must...perform in whatever is the most efficient way." At this going from giggly to dramatic to business-like very quickly, she held a hand to her head, then, smiling, said, "However I can help you, I will."

Sune shook his head and stood, "Miyazawa-Hei, you are mistaken about a few things. First, it is Jalen-Hei, Sune is my given name. Not my Surname. Second I was not referring to the mental backup. I was specifically referring to the PMS-1 which neither of us has had personal experience with."

Konoka sighed. Bowing so her nose almost touched the floor, she said, "Then most humble apologies, Jalen-Hei! I beliieve my attention span has gotten the better of me once again. For doubting your ethic and for not even knowing your NAME, I beg humble forgiveness!" Now she was tearing up a little. "I-I'm s-so sorry! I should have never jumped to such conclusions, about what you where speaking of or your name! I-I'm such a-an idiot!! It's u-un-undersrandable if you cannot forgive me....if you wish to say I'm s-stupid....Oh FISH, I'm such a ditz!! Craving pardon, Sune-dono. However you wish to go about work here, I humbly accept it......" She gave a large snifffle, her ears shook on her face, and one tiny tear escaped her eye. "So sorry, Jalen-Hei." She wiped her eyes and looked around for the PMS-1.

Sune reached out and took Konoka's hand. "Miyazawa-Hei. There is nothing to forgive because I took no offense. You were showing your concern for the well being of the crew. And as for my name," he let a grin come to his face, "since arriving at the Gemini station, very few people have gotten my name correct. At one point I was even wondering if people were doing it on purpose as some sort of test." He reached over to the desk and retrieved a tissue and handed it to her. "Please dry your eyes; we would not want our crew members to see you upset. After last night I thought we were friends. I hope we still are. So as my friend, you may call me Sune, at least when it is just the two of us working together. Okay?"

"Weapons and firefighting training," Hamada echoed. "It certainly couldn't hurt."

She glanced back over her shoulder to the command chair and examined Hanako for a few moments. It seemed to Hamada that the Taisa must be proccupied with something, though she could not guess at what exactly. Somewhat selfconsciously, Hamada turned her PDA off and slipped it into one of her pockets. Then, she offered a smile she meant to be reassuring.

"When would you like to start?"

"I would like everyone to get a chance to eat first," Hanako told her First Officer. "We can run it as a simulated battle, with volumetric targets and simulated damage. This ties into the list of battle stations I asked you to make; I want everyone to know where to be."

The Taisa crossed her legs and leaned back in her seat. "After our bridge crew returns, would you care to join me for lunch? I have a lot on my mind lately. In particular, I am worried about the state of our military. There was a time when I was naive but over these last couple of years I have had my eyes opened and I am working to improve things before it is too late."

Hamada nodded to most of the Taisa's words, turning around to view the sensor screen again. Hamada could hold a conversation and do her job too, or at least she should be able to, it stood to reason. It also gave her an excuse not to answer immediately.

She thought very briefly on where the crew would be mustering exactly on the ship during battlestations. She also wondered whether or not food in her stomach would do anything for the vaguely sick feeling that had been lingering for most of the morning and early afternoon.

After a few moments, she said, "State of our military, Taisa-san?"

Hanako looked to the screen. "I feel like we need more logistically sustainable units, better training overall, and more efficient use of resources. The Taisho agrees, which is excellent, but progress has been slow and I worry about the many threats, new and old, to our very-stretched-out Empire. Then, there is the whole issue with my adoptive grandfather, whose fleet is somewhere off the map to the south, presumably fighting for his life and maybe ours while back home his reputation has been slandered..." Realizing she was droning on in a rambling rant, Hanako stopped herself. "The point is, I want this ship and squadron to be as prepared as possible for a potentially dark future."

This time, Hamada did not look up from the sensor screen. Quietly, she dragged a finger across the screen, zooming in on their location in hyperspace and panning over their projected path. She did not feel there would be a great deal of precision in such a scan, but it could not hurt, especially since it was only a random direction anyway.

Her mind was back in class, sitting around and listening to the rethoric that the instructors tended to shell out at every general history class. When she had entered specialized training, however, she had been given a more accurate view of the state of the universe, and exactly where her place in it was.

Now that place was changed. Taii Hamada. Eucharis? Hanako? In the undertones of the Taisa's rambling, Hamada caught the whisper of a thought that most young, blindly loyal soldiers would never entertain. With it said, would it change?

"I see," she offered, "That seems wise, Taisa-san."

Ramiro finished his lunch and after returning his plate to the proper area he made his way out of the wardroom and headed back to the bridge. When he arrived he approached Hanako and said, "Thank you for the small break Taisa, is there anything you wish me to do?"

With a nod, Nika left the bridge, first heading back to the cargo bay to pick up the beddings first, "Others I'll pick them up at a later time Pineapple-Heisho."

Quickly placing the items in the room, she made a beeline to the wardroom and had her meal, taking note at the time so that she did not take too long for her break...

"I'm back Taisa, Taii." The neko entered the bridge, giving them a salute, "Hope I did not take too long for my break..." She sheepishly said, hoping not to get a lecture from the officers.

"We should be arriving at the first unexplored system soon," Taisa Hanako told Nika and Ramiro. "Please inform me when we arrive."

Turning to Hamada, Hanako asked, "Would you care to join me?"

Kumiko nodded absently. "Well, I've found a couple ways we could work them in, but if you're right..." She let the thought trail off. She quickly pulled up what specs she could on the QNCs, and read through them. "I think you're right. We probably don't want anything that we can't fix onboard, especially when it might give away our position." She looked up a t Junko. "I'll go talk to the Taisa about it. If you would like, you can look over the data I've pulled up on the possible placements." She stood up, and left the engineering bay, headed for the bridge. She thought it would be best to discuss this in person, for the sake of privacy if nothing else.

Junko felt a momentary twinge of annoyance as the other neko left engineering. Trying to supress the emotion, she silently remonstrated herself. It doesn't matter who gets credit or presents this to the Taisa; the mission is the only priority. Get the job done. Still faintly bothered, both at the incident and at her loss of control, Junko turned back to the consoles displaying the diagnostics. They still appeared to be basic computer predictions, so there was room for improvement, but should they install the QNCs there wouldn't be much planning work left to do. For Junko's part, however, she hoped that their next task would instead be to eject the cells on a course to the closest star.

After she finished with her power armour and cleaned up after herself, Hotaru briefly made her way to the Wardroom for a light lunch.

Arriving at the Wardroom, Hotaru perused the menu selecting some sandwiches and some items from the vegetable platter including some dip dip. Getting a glass of juice, she made her way to an empty table and sat down. Looking about herself, she saw the Wardroom was practically empty. Looking down at her meal, she began eating.

Wondering what the squadron was going to face once they entered unexplored space, Hotaru began thinking about any potential hostiles and situations that they may encounter..

As Ramiro sat at one of the computers on the bridge, monitoring the ships location, a notification alerted him that the ship was approaching an unexplored system. After scanning the charts in front of him he spotted the small system. He rolled his chair over to the internal comm system and picked up the microphone. "Taisa-san, the ship is approaching an unexplored system roughly to the galactic east of UX-3 and southwest of the Samurai Sector. Shall I disengage the hyperspace fold drive?"

"Yes," the captain said, taking Hamada's lack of response as a no. She noticed the First Officer tended to be a quiet person. Perhaps the strong silent type? Hanako was still trying to figure Shizu out. "Initiate routine scans and compile a report. I will briefly be getting lunch."

With that, Hanako exited the bridge and began to make her way to the wardroom when she encountered Kumiko.

Ramiro jumped a little when Hanako spoke to him, not realizing she was still on the bridge. He saluted with a quick, "Yes ma'am", and pushed against the wall as his seat rolled back to the computer. He then disengaged the ship's hyperspace fold drive and the squadron reappeared in normal space. He quickly located the system's exact location compared to the ship and initiated scans of the planet and surrounding area. He then leaned back as he waited for the scans to finish.

Most of the stations could be operated by more than one panel - much like how every soldier was trained to do almost everything, these days, the computers could likewise share view screens. Hamada sat quietly by at the sensor control station and watched the readings on her own screen, regretting waiting so long to answer the Taisa. It would have been a very interesting conversation.

Placing her index finger on the screen, she brought the planet information up on her window and viewed it over. Hamada couldn't quite place it, but something about this planet was pricking the back of her mind. Placing her other hand on the console, she began her search.

"Valencia," she mused as she worked, partially to keep herself occupied on a seperate level of thought, and partially to keep the ship operator from bothering with the sensors again, "It is a strange name. How did you come by it?"
