Nika had taken an empty seat where a console was available, as Ramiro was currently on shift, the neko was going through the interfaces of the ship's system, getting familiar with it. "The system was similar to the one I've trained at Fort Ready, however this... is incredible..." She muttered to herself as she took note that they had arrived at one of their unexplored en-route star system.

Finishing her meal, Hotaru drained her juice before getting up and returning her used utensils and crockery to the kitchen, headed to her room and changed into her exercise gear.

Grabbing her uniform, she headed to Deck 3 and the Recreation room where she began doing light warm ups. Slowly the warm ups turned into katas and she began going through the different forms and styles she had learned. Each repetition began to get faster before she slowed down and began to do them almost in slow motion exaggerating the moves.

Having cleared up the confusion about testing the PMS-1, Konoka and Sune quickly tested the new scanners on each other. They then added the data to their records. The only thing that Sune noted about the experience was a slight tingling sensation at the injection site that quickly faded. But this was something the manuals for the scanner said could be encountered.

Once the tests were done, Sune picked up the intercom handset, and entered the code for shipwide. "May I have your attention. This is Jalen-Ittô Hei reminding all crew members who are new to the Eucharis that they must report to Medical Center for physicals. The Medical Center staff are standing by to perform the physicals and assist with an Mental Backups that personnel wish to accomplish. Please come down to Medical at your earliest availability. Thank you for your attention."

Hamada leaned forward a little and pulled the length of her hair into her lap, since she knew it would get in the way of work. Settling fully and completely back into the control seat, Hamada engaged the SPINE interface and closed her eyes. The panel she had been working on physically dimmed as she began receiving the information somewhat more directly.

Hamada shifted through the sensor scans of the unnamed system, but was soon disappointed in them. They were not what she called interesting after all.

Since Ramiro did not seem to be in the mood to converse with her at the moment, Hamada began to speak telepathically with Himeya in the meantime, who she recognized from the swearing-in. It was not rude, if Ramiro did not hear them.

'This is my first time on a real bridge, as well. Where did they normally put you, in training?'

After waiting too long for Kumiko to say something, Hanako made a frustrated face and then continued on her way to the wardroom where she had her lunch. Next, she visited the medical bay to make updated backups.

"Hello, Ittô Hei Sune. Am I the first one?" she asked, ready to get it over with; mental backups were often painful.

Sune seeing the Taisa come was momentarily taken aback. Again with the name, I swear the universe is playing some kind joke on me. I am definitely not about to correct the Taisa. he thought.

Bowing he replied "Yes, Taisa, you are the first to arrive. We can start your backup immediately. Although if you would permit, I would like to update your medical record with a PMS-1 baseline scan as well. I can perform that scan that while your backup is being peformed." He replied while motioning to the backup station.

Hanako nodded and approached the scanning table. "That is fine. I know the importance of backups - I would no longer be alive were it not for them," she said with a brief sigh. "But, I also have seen the dark side of them, where backup data is used to create an unauthorized copy...for that reason I went to the senate to get protective laws passed. Would you like me to undress for the scan?" she asked.

Nika almost jumped from her seat as she heard Hamada's voice in her head. For abit she just froze there, not sure whether the Taii was behind her and about to 'bonk' her with something for not doing her job.

"Shizu Taii...?" She turned around to look at the XO, then realising that the latter was actually telepathically speaking to her.

"Ohh sorry..." Nika sheepishly smiled as she turned back to the console, "I'm still not used to others talking into my head..." The neko scratched her head absent-mindedly, "I was an archiver in the Ketsurui Household until certain circumstances forced me to join the army." She let out a sigh.

Finishing up her final kata as Jalen-Hei made his announcement, Hotaru decided that today would be as good a time as any to get a medical and a backup.

Showering quickly before changing into her uniform and attaching her sidearm, Hotaru made her way towards Medical. Entering through the doorway, she paused as she saw the Taisa preparing for her backup with Jalen-Hei.

Walking over to Konoka, she began, "Konoka-san, I'm here as requested for a medical and updating my backup. Shall I come back later or are you able to squeeze me in now?".

I think I have seen enough of the Taisa's body for awhile. Sune thought briefly recalling the shopping trip prior to the party. Sune shook his head breifly to clear the image, "I did not know that you were involved in the creation of Proposal 75. It is not be necessary to undress for the PMS-1 scan ma'am. I will only need access to your arm for the injection and the patch and your uniform already provides me with sufficient access." He walked over to the control console for the mental transfer unit. Placing the PMS-1 on the table nearby. He entered his personal code and located the Hanako's backup file. "Do you wish to be sedated for the backup?" he asked.

At Sune's forgiving attitude, Konoka had said simply, "Well, then Sune-Hei, if I am correct I can say that, thank you for not taking offense at my silly lack of attention. Friends it is. " And then she'd calmly accepted a tissue. It wouldn't do to break her practice of being the calm one.

She'd tried the new medical technology, and found it perfectly useful and not at all displeasing to use.

Putting on her zen face, she'd bowed serenely at the Taisa, then turned to see her friend Hotaru. "Oh, hi, Hotaru-Hei. Perfect timing! Sune's appearance has cut my workload in half, so I'm more than happy to have someone to be busy helping. How 'bout a backup first, it's rather important. Would you wish to be sedated? I can start on that right away." She smiled calmly, and felt glad at the chance to be working again. Hanging out was great, but being a medic was what she did best, even better than making friends or singing or rescuing people from stray bombs. She loved the work, she loved helping people, and even more, she loved helping a friend.

Everything else was fun, but her work was her rock: It was what she did that held her to the rest of the world.

Ramiro finished with his current task before looking up at Hamada. "Actually I don't know very much about my family history. And to be perfectly honest I don't care about it, I know enough." He pushed against the desk and his seat rolled over next to Hamada. "Shall I inform the Taisa that the scans have finished or should we continue onward now and inform her after we have exited normal space?"

'You were not created as a soldier?' Hamada smiled, but only just. Working for the Ketsurui was working for the Ketsurui, but it might be interesting talking to someone who hadn't spend their entire life in uniform. 'You will have to tell me some of that story, soon.'

Opening her eyes, Hamada sat forward in her chair, disconnecting from the direct interface. The control panel lit up once again, but she made no move to bother it further. She had already saved the data in the ship's computer, along with several digital images of the planets and the twin stars around which they revolved, and she felt there was nothing more to do. All that remained was naming it, and that could be done underway.

"No, that will not be necessary. Continue to the next checkpoint at your discretion." Hamada examined the two ships operators for a few moments, before continuing; "Which of you wish which seat, on this bridge? Taisa-san desires the entire crew to be assigned a precise station, and it would be best if the two of you were comfortable."

"Injection? Sedation?" Hanako was taken aback by the unusual questions. "I do not need sedation...and certainly not any injections. I have been stabbed, raped, and shot enough times that I should not have to suffer any more unwanted penetration." What the hell would anyone inject into a Nekovalkyrja anyway? she wondered.

The Taisa laid back on the table and remotely started the machine through the ship's computer. A little loading bar appeared in her vision.

"Will do Shizu-Taii..." Nika replied as Hamada mentally closed the channel, "She isn't that bad at all." The neko thought to herself as the XO started speaking verbally now.

"Taii, since we have many crew members who can operate a starship..." She looked around the bridge, "I'll station myself over here." Nika indicated the 'Systems and Safety Monitoring' console, "Of course if Valencia-Hei needs to take a break, I can take over until he returns."

Ramiro pushed his chair back to the console on the right side of the bridge and yelled back to Hamada. "In that case I'll take the Starship Operations station. And don't worry Irenika-hei, I am fine without a break. Besides at this point all there is to do is wait for us to pass the next system." He turned back to the screen and double-checked that the path of travel was accurate and then engaged the hyperspace fold drives as the ship and squadron was bathed in blue and vanished.

Sune went to the backup monitoring station feeling rebuffed to watch the progress since the Taisa had chosen to remote activate the system. He pondered her response to his offers, It is normal to offer sedation during the mental backup as the process could be painful. he thought. As the head medic I could insist on the scan, but in light of the Taisa's situation, I will forego using the new scanner. He did take a moment to review the biometric data from the table, while not as accurate as the PMS it would do for now.

When the system indicated the process was complete he entered his code and transferred the record to the savior pod. He then moved the synaptic interface unit out of the way. While bowing he said, "Taisa, it was not my intention to upset you. I apologize for doing so. I will not offer sedation during your backup procedures." He chose to exclude mentioning the PMS-1.

Returning Konoka's smile, Hotaru hopped up onto the bed and replied, "No worries, do whatever you need to do first, but I won't need the sedation thankyou."

Hotaru watched Konoka busy herself settings things up and getting everything ready. Something's missing, I can't think what though! thought Hotaru.

Seeing Jalen-Hei carefully finalising the backup of the Taisa it suddenly came to Hotaru what was missing; Konoka had yet to fall over.

Hotaru began humming a tune to herself as she waited. She couldn't remember where she heard it but found it catchy.

"As you wish, Hotaru-Hei." smiled Konoka serenely. She then calmly punched in her code and transferred the record to the savior pod, all quite efficiently. Ah, work. The work of a medic. Konoka found it to be one of the most fulfilling things she could think of to do. Helping others, saving lifes, curing the sick, helping others preserve their lives, caring, this was her life. She then moved the unit away. "Alrighty then." she said calmly. Then: "Hotaru-Hei, how 'bout a checkup? Do you feel healthy?"

This was the best part of her day. She realized she didn't exactly have a choice but to do medical work, but all the same, she loved it. It gave her a sense of calm, of fulfillment. And she could help friends and future friends! yay to that. She muttered softly, "I feel so happy today...."

"I feel very healthy. I was under the impression this was to be a backup and checkup session? In any case, I don't mind staying longer." replied Hotaru.

Settling herself for a longer stay, Hotaru asked, "Are you free this evening Konoka-san? We could dine together if you wish?"
