RP: 21st Fighter Sq [Mission 8.0] Whispers in the dark

Elisto smiled and slowly made his way across the stations hull, he kept his eyes out for anything that might tell of what truly happened here - other than the obvious of course. When he noticed an airlock, he pointed and made his way over to it and began to inspect it, ensuring that it wasn't damaged in anyway... or even booby-trapped.

Visually the first thing readily noticeable was that the markings on the airlock and the control panel were in standard trade. The airlock mechanism was definitely an older design. There was the keypad next to the hatch, and a recessed panel that would provide access to the manual system to open it.

The hatch was pitted with metal gouges, and laser scoring. Some of the damage appeared recent, and others much older. However, none of the damage seemed sufficient to prevent the lock from working.

A small window was present which would offer a glimpse into the airlock.

While Elisto fiddled with the lock, Anne floated closer to the airlock. She reached one of the handle and pulled herself in. She wanted to peek into the little window and see what they could expect. What she did expect was a dead body in the airlock. At least in all the movies someone shown to here if there was situation like this, there was a dead body in the airlock.

Looking in the airlock Anne saw two suited figures that were drifting in the lock. She could also see that the inner lock door was open. One of the suited figures drifted closer to the airlock as it approached it rotated. As the visor came around Anne saw that the suit was empty.

"Other side of the airlock is open," Anne radioed to Elisto. "Can you get it closed from here? If not we will have to look for different airlock." Anne was not very knowledgeable about such things. The helashio wondered what really happened to the ship and what kind of people will be in it. With her luck it will be infested with zombies or some other horror monster.

"Silic, damn you for showing me all those horror movies," she said to Tin Man.

"Hey, you were the one who told me to exercise my fear gland thing!" The hapless Nepleslian replied as his fighter back-flipped and speed off to a holding distance before retorting cheekily. "Besides, it's not like I forced you to enjoy chips and dip with me at the same time."

The fighter flat-turned back around and killed its momentum, now watching from a distance. Inside the cockpit Silic smiled to himself as he remembered those nights Anne would squeeze herself to his arm in fright.

Elisto nodded as he manipulated some of the airlocks controls from the outside. "Let me know when that door begins to close," he said to Anne as he attempted to find the right circuits that would allow him to close the other door. "I ... think.. I got it," he said when his HUD showed a clear connection to the opposite side, now he just had to hope there was no actual damage between the two. "Door should be closing... now..."

For a moment nothing happened. Then slowly the inner door started to close. It moved in a sluggish fashion. As the leading edge got close to the other side, it slowed down and came to a stop. From what Anne could see, the door did not make a complete seal. Adjusting her lamp to get a better view; she could see that there was a metal object caught in the doorway. It appeared to be some sort of a tool.

"Well does not seem like we are getting in this way," Anne said and grunted, being displeased by the fact. There might be injured people inside and they were having trouble with a bloody door. "Something is stuck in the doors of inner airlock. We cannot open the doors on this side, until the others are closer. Hrmm... doesn't this ship has some kind of service hatch we could use as entrance?"

"Unci" Akemi swore off channel. "Okay, so if we can not enter that hatch. I see another airlock about 50 meters above. There is also some sort of large hatch, probably cargo but that's 100 meters to your left."

"Probably good to check the cargo area then, that hatch may also be stuck, considering everything that has gone on," Elisto said as he looked at the scorch marks and ran his finger carefully over one. "Let's make our way over, and keep our eyes peeled," said the operative as he turned in the direction of the cargo hatch and began to slowly make his way over to it.

Akemi tapped the maneuver thrusters on her fighter to start it moving in the direction Elisto was. She also brought up one of the landing lights to illuminate the area he was heading for.

It took a bit of time, but once he got to the hatch he oriented himself and began to look for a means to open it. "Keep an eye out," he said to Anne, he didn't want to be in the middle of opening up a door only to have someone on this base suddenly come out and shot them.....

Anne followed Elisto, her eyes peeled around. She was starting to get a bit scared and they did not even get inside the ship yet. What is expecting them inside? As far as she knew, it could be anything. Even misshu. She prayed to goddess it would not be mishu.

"Hai," Anne replied to Elisto and kept a look out as he was working on opening the doors.

Located next to the hatch was a larger control panel. This one had a keypad, and a dataport along with the standard airlock control features. Better yet, the panel was illuminated. The hatch appeared to be a clamshell design, that split in the middle.

Elisto smiled and floated up to the panel where he began to manipulate its keys and figure out the right combination to cycle the lock. "Be ready," he said to Anne without looking in her direction, although he did glance at the lock itself for a moment before going back to his work. "Hopefully we have no surprises on the other end....."

The display on the control panel updated when Elisto began experimenting.
Code:
Warning hold pressure at 200%
Explosive venting will take place in 3.... 2.... 1...
Safety protocols engaged

The clamshell doors started opening atmosphere started spewing through the aperture, and once the doors were open enough debris was sailing into space. A number of human figures in jump suits followed the debris and went tumbling into the void. From the lack of struggling it was clear that the bodies were dead. The doors continued opening.

Anne stood by and frowned as bodies were vented outside of the cargo hatch. It was clear there was nothing she could do for them anymore. "Next time we should bang on the door to see if anyone is in. There could have been people alive inside." She said to Elisto and took a peek inside, bolstering herself for the worst.

The hold was a mess, cargo containers that lined the walls were secured to the deck so they were not ejected. However, there was definitely signs of conflict. There was weapon damage on various containers. There was also copious amounts of dried blood on the floor and containers. Most of the hold was empty though. Over by the left wall there was a smaller container that was opened. But it was unfortunately facing the other way.

A Tactical alert started pulsing on Silic's HUD. A small RADAR ping / blip was picked up by Silic's fighter. It was coming from his port and closing at a rate of 100 meters per second.
