Re: [Mission 8.1] Universe at War - Rescue At Veritas

"You can have cabin number two. There are no others inside for the time being. You can be applied to several locations but I believe the captain had something in mind." Kurusu nodded at Tasuku, bowing back only slightly as was proper due to the difference in rank.

"Taisa, he needs a duty assignment...I can take care of that if you do not have something in mind already? I assume you spoke with the Second Officer about it already?" She asked without turning, trying to get a better feeling for their castaway.

Re: [Mission 8.1] Universe at War - Rescue At Veritas

"Sorry ma'am, I haven't, I just now returned to duty.. I was hoping to do so when I arrived, but I wasn't aware until just a moment ago that she had been temporarily reassigned." Tasuku explained politely to the first officer. He did his best to completely ignore the situation between the two science personnel, not turning away from the Chusa in front of him.

Re: [Mission 8.1] Universe at War - Rescue At Veritas

Hanako thought it over for just a moment before answering. "For the trip over there, which should not take very long Nika can take the Systems station, Ramiro can take Starship Operation, Yarani can take sensors, and Misaki, you will take Mission Ops. I want everyone to get mental backups made before we arrive, so rotate out. Yarani, you go first...until then, the science team can share sensor watch."

"Science team, we will need Elysian disguises; see what you can come up with when he returns."

The Taisa turned to face Misaki. "I want you to divide the crew into multiple mission teams based on our objectives. There should be two to four teams of three to five crew members. I will lead the first team, with the objective of obtaining the ship designs. Try to take into account each person's unique skills."

Re: [Mission 8.1] Universe at War - Rescue At Veritas

Ramiro listened intently to the orders of the Hanako. Once his mind finished processing what everyone on the bridge was working with he pulled up the space map and quickly plotted a course. "Taisa, I've set a course along the spacelanes Veritas, unless you have another plan in mind I'll begin firing up the hyperspace drives." He spun his chair back towards his station and than pulled up the ship controls in preparation to ready the ship for departure.

Re: [Mission 8.1] Universe at War - Rescue At Veritas

Mikael spent a few minutes wondering around in the Power Armor Bay while he listened to the mission brief from the Taisa over the ship intercom. Still not seeing the red haired neko from the bar or any other infantry on the ship, he decided to head for the bridge since he needed to report in.

Mikael slowly made his way through the corridors of the Eucharis, first checking to make sure his bags were still ok. Once he was sure they would be ok, he once again slowly made his way to the bridge. Once he finally arrived just outside of the location, he stopped and begun messing around with his uniform making sure he wasn't missing anything and looked okay. Once he was finally satisfied with his appearance, he slowly walked onto the bridge, looked around, and then stood at the position of attention until someone acknowledged him.

Re: [Mission 8.1] Universe at War - Rescue At Veritas

“Any apology you would offer would be meaningless. All it would be is lip service, for an apology to have meaning the person first needs to be contrite. When speaking to me confine yourself to following proper military protocol. Keep your insubordinate comments to yourself. Take the Science station and prepare to get underway.” Sune then walked away from Darnell.

Sune took a position behind the Taisa in front of the Automation station, and using his ICP connected to PANTHEON via Charisma. He started scanning the available equipment that could be used for this mission. There was nothing under standard Star Army equipment that would serve their purpose. However, when he broadened his search to include SAINT equipment, he found an item that would be beneficial. He submitted his request specified that it needed to be expedited for 20 of the suits, he had Charisma provide the necessary individual physical specifications. He then turned to Misaki, “Kurusu-Chusa, we will need to delay our departure for approximately 15 minutes. I have requested some equipment to fulfill the Taisa’s requirements for the mission. It will take that long for them to be brought to the Eucharis. I am going to head down to the vehicle bay to oversee their arrival.”

Re: [Mission 8.1] Universe at War - Rescue At Veritas

Junko decided that further information was likely not forthcoming, at least over the ship-wide intercom, and set about making final preparations. The fast start up might indeed start up the ship, but the expedited process overlooked a few auxiliary and redundant systems in the name of haste. Power being the main priority, Junko brought up the primary distribution displays and set about making sure all of the secondary capacitors were online. She supposed she would need to take another visit to Power Systems, as she had only checked up on the primary capacitors before, but paused first to activate several redundant emergency atmosphere and HSCS recyclers. Satisfied that the green start up status bars were progressing adequately, she ducked away from the displays and made her way forward. It didn't take long to visually verify successful start up in Power Systems; the repair crews had done a thorough job and nothing stood out to her as needing a second look or spot repair before they got underway. Arriving back in the Mainspace and at the main displays, she was pleased to find the full systems diagnostic coming up green across the board. “Bridge, Engineering. In addition to fast start up priority activations, all systems are now reporting online and fully operational. Also; Captain, with regards to your previous decision to destroy the QNCs aboard, with your permission, ma'am, I could have a small work party in the Cargo Bay get both cells into position for ejection into the local star, if we have some time before departure.”

Re: [Mission 8.1] Universe at War - Rescue At Veritas

"I do want to get rid of them, but I do not think we have a good opportunity at the moment," Hanako replied to engineering, while going over some additional mission details on her displays.

Meanwhile, in the wardroom, lunch was ready: Lime had prepared a picnic-style meal with burgers, hot dogs, potato salad, cole slaw, praline pecans, lemonade, and pickles.

"I am going to get a mental backup made while we wait," the Taisa told Misaki, ducking out of the bridge. She grabbed Mikael on the way out, leading him back into the main passageway. "Generally you do not belong on the bridge...only those working there do. Besides, it is already quite crowded in there. What do you need?" she asked.

Re: [Mission 8.1] Universe at War - Rescue At Veritas

“Aye, ma'am,” replied Junko. “At your convenience, ma'am.” As the intercom link closed, Junko sank back against the bulkhead. For the moment, there didn't really appear to be anything for her to do. She mentally ticked off her options. Repairs? Not needed at the moment. Diagnostics? Just run. Lunch? Not hungry. Back up? The procedure was routine, and there wasn't a critical need for it to be down at that very moment, but the violence of the action at Nataria had thoroughly convinced Junko, even with her limited view of the scale of the battle, to have extra diligence in making the back ups. She glanced about, but couldn't catch sight of Endoh, recently returned from night shift. Of course, not being able to spot a person in the midst of the clutter of machinery rampant throughout the Mainspace didn't necessarily mean they weren't there. Still, Junko opted to avoid a potential wild goose chase and sent out a telepathic message instead. ”Endoh-hei, I was hoping to visit medical and get a mental back up done before we depart. Are you in Engineering at the moment? More specifically, could you take Engineering while I'm absent for a moment?”

Re: [Mission 8.1] Universe at War - Rescue At Veritas

Mikael followed after the Taisa as she left the bridge. "I was just coming to see you or the first officer to report in, ma'am. I have yet to see my team leader or anyone infantry for that matter, so I apologize for not following proper chain of command." He paused for a moment, hesitant to ask what he was about to ask. "There is also the matter of bunking as well ma'am. I have not been told where I will be staying."

Re: [Mission 8.1] Universe at War - Rescue At Veritas

After having bowed he headed to the wardroom after leaving the bridge, he quickly threw his duffel bag onto one of the beds in his newly assigned room. He then walked quickly to the medbay, far quicker than he ever would not under orders; he tensely entered the medbay and looked around suspiciously seeing if anyone was around.

Re: [Mission 8.1] Universe at War - Rescue At Veritas

Darnell simply thought that the Heisho couldn't bring to bear actual examples and so pretended that Darnell's apology wasn't worthy. He wondered if the Heisho realized this himself or really believed that Darnell's apology wasn't worth the effort. Either way, he resented the unqualified man's interference even more than before. Well, this was going to be a lovely time. When Sune said to take the station he said, "I can't. I have unusual circumstances to report to the Captain. As I was going to before this occurred. You as well."

Sune seemed to have moved on, regardless. Darnell sighed. The Captain had ducked out as well. He wasn't really sure what he was supposed to do to get their attention. He sent a message to the Captain, "When you have the time I have a preliminary report on what I found on the bugs and a theory as well. A full report will be submitted later." Satisfied he had done enough he looked at the station. He supposed he had to man it after all and stood there, looking at the various information pouring in at him.

Re: [Mission 8.1] Universe at War - Rescue At Veritas

Seeing Yarani, Konoka skipped over and said brightly, "Hi! I suppose you're here for a mental backup? I'm Konoka Miyazawa, the medical specialist here. I'm glad to meet you, so glad! Yay! I'll assist you with that right away , um......What was your name, again?"

She led him by the hand over to the place where they would get started. She wondered quietly if she should worry about him. He sure looked tense. Well, a backup was a necessary thing, and she'd help him. Oh dear, she hoped he wouldn't need it! See, now she was worried. She worried about all her patients, her friends, her crew.

"Do you require sedation?" she said calmly.

Re: [Mission 8.1] Universe at War - Rescue At Veritas

"Yes I am," Tasuku said looking down at Konoka. "Yarani, Tasuku; Starship Operations" he added somewhat formally, in contrast to the enthusiastic little medic.

"No sedation," Tasuku said as Konoka led him across the medbay, the tone in his voice as he said it was enough to know that he didn't like the idea much.

"Can you take a genetic sample and scans or whatever you need too while I'm here? Because if this is the last thing I remember the next time I wake up, I'd at least like the closest thing I can get to this body back, because this the real deal." Tasuku said pointing at his chest, "...twenty-two years going strong, I'd bet I'm the oldest physically on the ship."

Tasuku still looked quite young, but he made the statement with enough confidence to know he meant it, and maybe even with a little pride.

Re: [Mission 8.1] Universe at War - Rescue At Veritas

Misaki offered the Taisa a smile. She had made a stop at the station to get a backup when debriefing the crew of the Aurora, specifically. Another couldn't hurt too much, even after four years so she'd go when called.

The delay bothered her some, but if it didn't harm the mission perimeters she was always willing to bring extra equipment. The less chance of someone dying the better. "I have the bridge." Misaki announced, sliding into the ops seat. When SPINE synced up, she sighed out softly, feeling like she was on a second shift again back when she was a lower ranking officer. A sort of warm nostalgia hit her while she put together the team drafts.

When she had finished, Misaki sent it to Hanako promptly.

Team Drafts said:
Alfa:
Lead/IT: Hanako Taisa
Backup IT, Lockbreaker: Carlisle-hei
Cover/demolitions: Harris-hei

--Note: As there is no demolitions expert on board, I suggest Harris-hei take explosives and download their instruction files directly. With Kurosora-hei gone, my supplementary training in the field has been slowed considerably.

Bravo: - VIP Recovery Team
Lead: Kurusu Chusa or Tasuku-hei (by combat experience)
Support: Tasuku-hei
Medical Care: Miyazawa-hei

Shuttle: Pineapple

Charlie: - Support/Demolitions - If there are more targets than Alfa can handle alone, extra fire support.
Lead: Sune-heisho
Support: Ramiro-heisho
Support: Endoh-hei or Takeda-heisho

Note: Teams should arm themselves according to the mission perimeters. Close-range weapons as primary should be used for infiltration teams.

Sune needed more experience in dangerous situations, and if they had to plant more charges than alfa could handle, it was a better test than any to have him in charge of them. Still not sure if Hanako intended for her to lead any team or remain on the bridge, she'd nominated another combat veteran for the job of Bravo team, and hoped that the Taisa could make do with the numbers.

I wonder if we'll end up with another SAINT ribbon-...if they don't get there first, and kill us all. Sometimes I really love being a soldier too much.

Re: [Mission 8.1] Universe at War - Rescue At Veritas

Nika nodded as she went back opening windows displaying status of the repaired ship. Nothing much had changed for the interface, but with new hardwares being swapped for the fried ones did show a lot of difference in performance, especially when Charisma responded promptly to requests.

What's going to happen next...

Re: [Mission 8.1] Universe at War - Rescue At Veritas

"Alright, I'll get started......You may feel some slight discomfort." said Konoka sedately. "Ah, you're a Geshrin....Er, I'll just get a sample with this, then." said Konoka, pulling out some equipment. Now she REALLY hoped she wouldn't have to bring him back. It would only be her second time using the procedure, and her first with a Geshrin. She was uneasy, and already felt queasy using the Soul Transfer technology.

"Well, OK.....Let's get this backup started, then. Gosh, you probably are the oldest. I'm not even so much as a year old yet. Here....."

She readied the machine, hoping to do her best to help this Tasuku.

Re: [Mission 8.1] Universe at War - Rescue At Veritas

Hanako looked over the list of teams as it popped up next to her in holographic form. Immediately she saw some issues with it, mainly with the distribution of ranks, but she figured it could be dealt with. Teams B and C would operate together and split up to get different important persons.

- - -

Meanwhile, Sune's request for the SAINT suits was denied based on limited availability and the Mishhu blockade on the military sector.

Re: [Mission 8.1] Universe at War - Rescue At Veritas

"Not one year eh? You have done this before right?" Tasuku asked with an uneasy smile, trying to relax just a little, the pleasant little neko seemed much less intimidating to him than the average medic or doctor, but still he was still a little worried about her possible experience, or lack of.

She's so young, I hope she knows what she's doing... I was fighting Mishhu before she was a glimmer in some geneticists eye, this is going to make feel like an oyaji* if I keep thinking like this..

He quickly shook off the mildly disturbing thought, Nah..I'm nothing like my father, definitely not that old yet.. Tasuku thought laughing a little inside.

*(a japanese term meaning something very roughly along the lines of old(der) man/father figure)

Re: [Mission 8.1] Universe at War - Rescue At Veritas

"OK, well I've only done this before the four missions I've actually been on, and never on a Geshrin, but hey, one of those missions was helping you, and I'd like to help you again, if you don't mind. If you really feel bad, one of our sprites is also a nurse, I'm sure she could do this just as easily, but I do so like helping people, and it's my job, so just relax and I'll start the machine's job running." said Konoka as calmly as she was able.

This Tasuku was kind of right, she was incredibly young, and even looked like she belonged in a school cafeteria rather than a starship medbay. But she prided herself on her intensive medical training back at her birthplace, and liked to think she could always be counted on to give her patients the best medical care available. But, she thought happily, this would just be more medical experience for her, and she could only keep on trying to earn it.

"I DO have a lot of medical training, Yarani-Hei. Please believe I can help you."
