Re: [Mission 8.1] Universe at War - Rescue At Veritas

"It's alright, I can take you now." said Konoka, a bit flustered. One of the things she hated most was chaos in the medbay....she hoped she could avoid a pile-up. "Besides, it's policy to treat higher-up people first....." she muttered softly, frazzled.

"Here's the machine......Some slight discomfort is expected." Konoka sighed. Everyone seemed to realize the importance of back-ups these days. How could you not, with these troubled times? Konoka really cared about everyone on the ship, and she hoped they'd be OK in the coming mission. "Just a minute, people......" said Konoka, her hands flying into the air.

"Why does there have to be such a MOB in my little work area?" she grumbled, preparing the machine.

Re: [Mission 8.1] Universe at War - Rescue At Veritas

About twenty-five minutes later, the ship arrived in the Veritas system. There were no habitable worlds in the system; the Elysians lived here in floating cities above a huge, orange gas giant. The shipyard was attached to the underside of the largest city, a massive white and gold mushroom-shaped complex comparable to one of Yamatai's Iori-class Star Fortresses. The edge of the city was covered in spiny docking arms with ship parked at some of them.

Hanako ordered Ramiro to dock in a specific one of the interior bays (Bay 44) and then went down to the medical lab to see Sune, Darnell, and Nika's progress on the disguises.

Re: [Mission 8.1] Universe at War - Rescue At Veritas

Ramiro went through the backup process, trying to rush through it as quickly as possible. When he was finished he thanked Konoka and was about to head off for a quick personal detour when his comm beeped at him. He checked it and saw a message saying that they had arrived. With that he rushed off towards the bridge. Once he got there he dropped into his seat and pulled up the ships controls. He carefully steered the ship towards the proper city and then docked at Bay 44. "Chusa, we have docked with the facility."

Re: [Mission 8.1] Universe at War - Rescue At Veritas

Darnell changed the sensors so that they gave off wave patterns similar to Elysian ones in their detecting, and disabled the ones an Elysian freighter would not have. It greatly limited the ships vision, particularly because the ship wasn't used to these configurations, but it made the ship's sensors appear to be standard Elysian model. At least to anyone who didn't take the time to thoroughly scan the ship itself, but there was no way to change that without actually replacing the sensors with Elysian ones.

Darnell showed up in the fabrication area, he had no idea how to build an Elysian suit. He knew about Elysian physiology, but that didn't mean he could make anything that was convincingly like them. He could tell them the specifications, like how large the forehead should be or the leg and arm ratios or the wingspans. He could mix chemicals to simulate pheromones, sweat, that sort of thing, but he had no idea how to make an actual suit.

Re: [Mission 8.1] Universe at War - Rescue At Veritas

Sune met Junko as she came into Medical for her backup. “Takeda-Heisho, we require the assistance of yourself or Endoh-Hei in the fabrication area. We have to fabricate artificial wings as part of the Elysian disguises, and while I can make the skeletal structure, and synthetic skin and wings, the wings have to be able to move. So we need one of you to help figure out how to make the wings extend and retract enough for Elysian salutes. Once we have that detail worked out Carlisle-Hei and I can begin the necessary calculations for the size based on the members of the away team physical stats and begin fabrication.”

Re: [Mission 8.1] Universe at War - Rescue At Veritas

"Hmm..." murmurred Junko, already immersed in the problem. "I do not possess any particular expertise in this sort of small-scale mechanical design, but I doubt this would pose an insurmountable obstacle. However for the moment allow me to confer with my colleague to see which of us is more suited to providing you assistance." Totally in the zone, she summarily turned away - ignoring the others around her - as she reached out telepathically to Endoh. "Endoh-Hei, Jalen-Heisho is requesting Engineering's assisstance in fabricating working replicas of Elysian wings. Do you have either experience with similar problems or the inclination to attempt effecting a solution?"

Re: [Mission 8.1] Universe at War - Rescue At Veritas

No ma'am, I don't have any experience with this sort of thing, but I have studied design process and the like, and have created some working prototypes of other things in the past. I wouldn't mind the opportunity to study this though. If you would like, I will take on the challenge." She ran through her memory, and couldn't find anything along those lines, so she was willing to bet it was true that she hadn't done anything like that. Should be an interesting point to work from in the future. Assuming it works well, that is.

Re: [Mission 8.1] Universe at War - Rescue At Veritas

Nika has been quiet as she kept herself busy; floating about in Eucharis' system space via SPINE as she went through the system with Charisma.

As the ship hyperspaced towarded their targetted destination, she monitored the sensors, which was modified to stealth their movements.

It was then a tap on her shoulder pulled her back to reality, indicating its her turn for mental backup, and she did, returning to see the scenery of the Elysian space before her.

Not gaping to long, she returned to the seat and monitored the sensors, relieved that the Elysians did not set off any alarms as the ship docked at the station.

Re: [Mission 8.1] Universe at War - Rescue At Veritas

"When available, everyone please meet in the wardroom. Blackberry, please report to the bridge," Hanako announced over the intercom." The captain then proceeded to the wardroom and fixed herself a hot dog. Soon, the briefing would begin.

Menu Reminder said:
Lime had prepared a picnic-style meal with burgers, hot dogs, potato salad, cole slaw, praline pecans, lemonade, and pickles.

Re: [Mission 8.1] Universe at War - Rescue At Veritas

Walking back from the medbay Tasuku looked curiously at the bit of candy Konoka had givin him to make him feel better, he wasn't quite sure what to make of it, or the little neko that had givin it to him, but he put it into one of the small pouches on his belt in any event, thinking that it might be nice to have later, once he was alone, and off duty.

Tasuku had taken note of the changes to the sensor mode once he reached the bridge. Tasuku did his best to monitor the space around the ship with the limited sensor settings durring the realatively uneventful trip to Veritas.

Tasuku locked the sensor station when he heard Hanako's announcement, and he followed at least few seconds behinds her at a fair distance to the wardroom.

I wonder whats on the menu today..., Tasuku thought, internally wondering about the mission and lunch with a single phrase.

Re: [Mission 8.1] Universe at War - Rescue At Veritas

Leaving Junko to confer with her partner, Sune made his way back to the Fabrication area. “Carlisle-Hei, you will find the relevant data in the system to fabricate Elysian clothing for the away team. Since we have not yet been given the list of which personnel are going, prepare one set for each person on the crew. Better to have extras in case anything goes wrong others from the ship can assist if necessary without ruining the deception. After that you can fabricate several tool boxes and equip them with false bottoms so that the teams can hide things such as weapons, communicators and other mission equipment. I will be working on the fabrication of Elysian wings, making the necessary calculations for each person while we wait for the engineers to arrive to assist with adding motors or servos or other such to make them move.”

Re: [Mission 8.1] Universe at War - Rescue At Veritas

"Very well," replied Junko. "My personal preference would be to return to Engineering myself. If you would like to take on this problem..." She glanced up, to verify where theY should meet, but found Jalen gone. "Hmm... You should query the computer to find out where Jalen-Heisho has gone. My guess would be the Fabrication Bay. Leave Engineering now and I will be right-" She was cut off by the all-hands message. "Well, I suppose you had better set the systems to automatic, since it appears I will have to stop by the Wardroom first." With that, Junko dropped the transmission and turned toward the medic. "Miyazawa-Hei, please expedite my back-up. I would like to get to the wardroom post-haste."

Re: [Mission 8.1] Universe at War - Rescue At Veritas

Ramiro waited for his next orders, that was until the Taisa'a voice came over the loud speaker. He immediately got up and rushed to the wardroom, thinking it was emergency or something. Once there he saw the Taisa patiently eating a hotdog, which started to give him the hint that this must just be the briefing. He bowed to the Taisa and casually made his way over to the food bar. Ramiro quick fixed himself up some lunch and sat down near the Taisa.

Re: [Mission 8.1] Universe at War - Rescue At Veritas

"Yes ma'am." Kumiko tapped some keys quickly, and then ran a quick sub-routine to immediately notify her of any potential problems before Junko came back. With that, she stepped out of the Engineering Bay, and went towards the Fabrication Bay. She poked her head through the doorway, and looked to see if Sune was actually there. Upon seeing him, she entered, and moved over to him. "Jalen-Heisho? Takeda-Heisho assigned me to the project. What assistance do you need?"

Re: [Mission 8.1] Universe at War - Rescue At Veritas

Sune hearing his name called turned to Kumiko "Endoh-Hei, I can take a moment to show you what I am working on then, we should head to wardroom as the Taisa requested." Sune walked over to the first set of Elysian wings. "I was able to fashion the skeleton and the covering should be no problem. But we need a servo or pulley or some sort of mechanical device to make them extend and retract. Any assistance you can offer there would be greatly appreciated." He then picked up a datapad with the wing diagrams on it. "This should allow you to review the design once we get to the wardroom." He then made his way to the passageway. "Best not to keep the Taisa waiting."

Re: [Mission 8.1] Universe at War - Rescue At Veritas

Kumiko followed, her eyes scanning over the design as she walked. She began to murmur to herself, putting the thought process out loud. Then she glanced up at Sune. "Yes, I think I can most likely think up something to work for that purpose. How controlled would it have to be, sir? On, off, or something more like a dimmer?"

Re: [Mission 8.1] Universe at War - Rescue At Veritas

Sune pondered her question while going over the data he had read earlier. "Probably along the lines of a dimmer. Elysian wing movements are like Yamataian bowing. It varies depending on the rank difference."

Re: [Mission 8.1] Universe at War - Rescue At Veritas

Snapping out of a bit of a daydreamy state, Konoka said calmly to Junko, "Alright, I'll make this quick. " She then motioned for her to to take the necessary position around the machine unit. Starting the machine, she said, "Some slight discomfort is expected.....I'm sure you'll be fine."

After this was over, she was anxious to go to the wardroom. Anxious decribed her current state of mind, really. She was anxious about the upcoming mission, anxious to mantain the crew's health, anxiety-filled with her usual worry that someone would get hurt, and also anxious to get to lunch. She reminded herself to concentrate on the task at hand. She was spazzy enough already.

But, after all, her effort was meant by her to appear to take no effort at all.

Re: [Mission 8.1] Universe at War - Rescue At Veritas

Mikael made his way to the wardroom after hearing the Taisa's announcement. But her made a detour over to where his bags were to make sure they were still where he had left them after realizing he hadn't touched them in awhile. Satisfied they remained safe, he made his way back towards the wardroom.

He promptly took a seat near a corner as soon as he entered the room. He wasn't hungry at the time, but looking at the food long enough would make him regardless.

Re: [Mission 8.1] Universe at War - Rescue At Veritas

Misaki cooed out a little sigh, and rolled her head around her shoulders. "Please keep an eye on the EWS." Smiling at Blackberry, she touched the woman on the shoulder and gave her the bridge, floating out into the passage.

Harris-hei, you may have cabin #2, with Yarani Tasuku.

She sent, before hopping into the ward room and coming into contact with him. The XO quirked a little smile, but said nothing when she spied the food, getting another pig plate. If they were going to be shattered into nothing but an enchanting rubbish heap in space by a possible Mishhu attack, she wanted to at least have a full stomach. Thinking of the time she had to ingest...less than edible things, the Chusa made a bit of a face, but gathered a hamburger, potato salad, and went to sit down where she always did near the head of the table, finishing by getting a lemonade, which she sipped a bit first, thinking about the infiltration. For some reason, the tactical rundown of the station forced a tangent about her MINDY 1-H into the matter.

Maybe I should have it painted..I wonder if that would be allowed? It is mine, as much as they can be.
