Re: [Mission 8.1] Universe at War - Rescue At Veritas

After Hanako finished her meal, she started the briefing.

"All teams will enter through the Bay 44 customs area where an agent will let us pass through customs. Star Army troops are already in the shipyard city, but seeing teams from the Eucharis would draw attention, so we will be in disguise, at least at first. We will also be without power armor. Once inside we will split into three teams. My team, Alpha, will secure the teleporter units and other technology, and Star Army of Yamatai personnel. Misaki's team, Bravo, will secure three VIPs: Eidos Ezekiel, Mathias Jariel, and Felina Kosmos. These are the city's leaders - a high priest, mayor, and cultural archivist. You may also bring some cultural artifacts if they request. We will not be evacuating their military commander - he will be trying to get the residents to safety in the event of an attack. The shipyard has already been giving Elysian family vacations to many workers in an attempt to quietly thin out the population. The third team, Charlie, will be going to the shipyard's computers to get the blueprints and ship designers, whose names are not currently known. The Elysians have already rigged their computers to blow up in the event the shipyard city is falling to the enemy, so we don't need to worry about that."

Hanako paused for a moment before continuing. "In the event of an NMX attack, try to continue the mission if possible but get back to the ship ASAP. Hopefully everything will be handled before any combat occurs, though. The ship will be parked inside the station, and will wait as long as possible before moving, rather than leaving you. If the ship has to leave us, though, the Telemachus II will be left for us, with Pineapple as pilot. If we need to take shuttles to escape we want to use our own; finding a native one would be difficult considering the station may be evacuating. NSPs should be set to stun, not kill. We do not want to hurt anyone. If the Mishhuvurthyar board, we are not going to get caught up in fighting them. Do the mission and get out. Any questions?"

Re: [Mission 8.1] Universe at War - Rescue At Veritas

Nika hastily entered the wardroom, just when Hanako started her briefing; She had been busy gathering information about the Elysian starbase, almost forgetting that there was such a breifing.

"At least that answered for the slight security lapse." The neko mentally concluded as the covert operation would soon commenced.

"No questions here Taisa." She announced.

Re: [Mission 8.1] Universe at War - Rescue At Veritas

Sune had arrived at the entrance to the wardroom in time to listen to Hanako's briefing. He chose to not enter and disrupt the briefing. Once Hanako completed her briefing. He walked over the buffet quietly prepared a plate with a hamburger pattie, pickle, potato salad and a glass of lemonade. He placed his tray on the table and took his seat. "Taisa, we are at work on fabricating the necessary we just need to know who the members of the away team will be to complete more difficult components which have to be made to the wearer's specific attributes."

Re: [Mission 8.1] Universe at War - Rescue At Veritas

Mikael kept eying the food while he waited for the briefing to start when he got the indicator that he received a message. Just as he was finishing reading the short message, he say the XO walk and nodded to her. Still not hungry, he went back to minding his own business in his seat.

Listening to the Taisa's brief, he winced a little when she made the mention that they would not be using power armor. He had grown to accept his own armor as a natural extension of himself on missions and being without just made him feel naked. Pinching himself to refocus, he kept his mouth shut for a few moments until he realized something.

"Ma'am, aren't most Elysians fairly short? How am I going to fit into the crowd?" he asked as he raised to his feet. He remembered reading that most of the commoners were shorter then him and the ruling class were much taller then him.

Re: [Mission 8.1] Universe at War - Rescue At Veritas

Kumiko stood quietly behind Sune while the briefing was going on. Once the briefing was over, she followed Sune to the buffet, and gathered food, mainly just the meat, along with some of the potato salad and some lemonade. With food in hand, she went and sat in a booth instead of with Sune. She then pulled out a pad of paper of her own, and the datapad she'd been given earlier. She began to eat, her eyes pouring over the schematics of the wings as they were now. Seems like we could almost use a simple pulley based system to manipulate it... maybe a complex pulley, for more delicate control? Hmmm...

Re: [Mission 8.1] Universe at War - Rescue At Veritas

Tasuku quickly ate a lunch in the span of several oversized and quickly swallowed bites and then listened intently to the briefing as it started.

While a little more overt he'd much rather walk in a fully outfited powerarmor, instead of sneaking around. He wasn't sure why the 'costume party', his new internal name for this mission, was really necessary, but orders were orders.

"How many Star Army personnel are currently at Veritas? And are they all expected to be evacuating during this mission?" Tasuku asked, putting aside his other thoughts and only asking things relevant to the mission as layed out by the captain.

Re: [Mission 8.1] Universe at War - Rescue At Veritas

Hanako tried to answer everyone's questions. First, she sent Sune the roster with the team members marked. Next, she answered Mikael; "Just act like you are supposed to be there and people will assume you are." Then Hanako answered Tasuku; "There are twenty or so. Most of them are science advisers and technicians."

Re: [Mission 8.1] Universe at War - Rescue At Veritas

Ramiro listened intently to the Taisa'a briefing. Once the Taisa finished Ramiro quickly ran through a potential scenario in his head, throwing in a couple potential obstacles in, based on how he would expect security to run. "I have a few questions Taisa. Will there be any clearance needed to reach the shipyard computers? And if someone does suspect something of us will we have some sort of fake ID card to buy us some time? And lastly the computers we need to access will most likely need some sort of password and something as important as blueprints will most likely have additional security around it, what happens if we're unable to hack through because there are too many blockers and firewalls.?"

Re: [Mission 8.1] Universe at War - Rescue At Veritas

"Sumimasen.. Valencia Heisho, but I'd imagine that the ship designers your team will be evacuating will have appropriate clearance to retrieve their designs in any event..." Tasuku mentioned, as it seemed the obvious answer to him.

Re: [Mission 8.1] Universe at War - Rescue At Veritas

Junko listened quietly as the briefing ended and questions were taken. She was altogether unused to combat, even more so the personal, close quarters sort it appeared they might be getting into. Indeed, aside from basic training, she had barely spared a thought for such situations; now, she hoped that someone on her team – Charlie, so far as she could tell – had enough experience to make up for her lack of it. She opened her mouth for a minute, subconsciously considering protesting against being taken away from Engineering, especially when they might be facing the NMX; she quickly thought better of it and returned to listening silently.

Re: [Mission 8.1] Universe at War - Rescue At Veritas

"Are the VIPs expecting bravo to come for them? I expect they're prepared to leave, and we won't leave ourselves exposed too long while they double-check things? We would be in a dire situation if they had some sort of unfinished business. Are we to wait if it endangers the others, or take the cooperative allies with us?" Misaki asked, the most likely problem might have rested in bureaucracy, and it was better to ask about what in her mind would be a 'save all you can' situation at that point, than risk an international incident by clocking someone who meant far more than her from a friendly nation. The truth was she didn't know a lot about diplomacy, just about military and governmental red-tape, and how it could hinder a mission.

I suppose that's the beauty of a small ship. She thought, already thinking of another question while nursing her lemonade. "Am I cleared to use my..extended set of abilities as disguise, or is there a special function that I'm not capable of our acquired materials can perform?" It was a vague way of asking if she could just use her innate abilities to simulate an Elysian, but in front of the whole crew she was not willing to talk about her model number and seem flashy. It was a sore point that the XO did her best to keep from others, unless it was a mission necessity.

Still..maybe I can do more just naked and projecting if things go awry. Keep it positive, Kurusu! Maybe this won't turn into a deck by deck slog through pods like half of the extractions were in the old war.

A slight nod worked out towards Ramiro, and Tasuku both. She was glad they were actively putting their minds to the mission in such detail. "We're only to bring our NSPs?" Bringing a Star Army rifle through the halls could draw suspicion, but Misaki had her mind on less conventional weapons even if she was proud of her NSP. More specifically, those she trained with alone that called back to her days at the Ketsurui training center.

Re: [Mission 8.1] Universe at War - Rescue At Veritas

"We should have clearance...I have set that up in advance...although we may have to ditch the disguises for the shipyard computers to recognize us," Hanako said. "If there is additional computer help needed, I should be able to take care of it on-site. As far as I know, though, the VIPs have not yet been informed we are coming to get them, at least not all of them. It will be just us and our sidearms. Try to be finished as quickly as possible."

Re: [Mission 8.1] Universe at War - Rescue At Veritas

Sune pondered the task assigned to his team then asked, "Taisa, with the reports of errant behavior among our people, do you know if there is any chance that there may be Elysians who may be similarly affected? The fact that we are entering in disguise seems to imply that there is a concern about traitors on the station. When we make contact with our respective groups, should we limit or monitor their activities to ensure that none of them give away our presence? And should they resist coming with us, are we authorized to use whatever means necessary to persuade them?"

Re: [Mission 8.1] Universe at War - Rescue At Veritas

Ramiro listened intently to the answers, throwing the solutions that had arisen into his scenario. He began to paint a picture in his head of them exiting the ship, heading towards the central computers, and being stopped by security. "Taisa, what if we are stopped by security?" He kept going in his head; the crew gets past security, continues to the computers, downloads the data, goes to leave, and the NMX get in their way. "Taisa, if the ship has to leave without us, to a different system, will the Telemachus II have the engine capacity to make it back to the ship?" He then envisioned them returning to the ship, with the plans, getting attacked, and being forced to evacuate. "And lastly, if we must evacuate the Eucharis because it's withstanding too much damage, is there a plan to get the important people and information to safety?"

Re: [Mission 8.1] Universe at War - Rescue At Veritas

Tasuku thought about the questions as the others were speaking, he thought that some of them might be over thinking it though, because the answers kept pooping into his head immediately...

"...Eucharis would avoid unnecessary combat with civilian VIPs aboard, and its one of the fastest ships in existence, sustaining critical damage while not engaged in directly battle is unlikely, standard evacuation procedures should it come down to it, Elysian VIPs on the Telemachus II if the Eucharis can't continue, engage hostiles with power armor and the Golden Apple to cover its escape, closest outpost from Veritas is Elysia Novus, while en route to Hoshi no Iori... my thoughts at least.." Tasuku said in a single fast stream of words, he'd left out the possiblility of the Eucharis simply leaving before the mission was finished, ...we're probably dead if we can't complete our mission objectives before the Eucharis is forced to leave, Tasuku thought silently after.

"Sumimasen..." he said again with a nodding bow, after realizing he'd just voiced his thoughts without considering any protocol.

Re: [Mission 8.1] Universe at War - Rescue At Veritas

"Yes, there is a chance that infected Elysians are on board. If we are stopped by security, we will show them our credentials. If they are uncooperative we may have to just stun them; however, this should be avoided if at all possible. Bring the VIPs to the ship immediately. You are authorized to stun them if needed; again, this is only if absolutely necessary," Hanako explained. "If there are no further questions, we should begin the operation as soon as possible."

Re: [Mission 8.1] Universe at War - Rescue At Veritas

Ramiro thought through everything Hanako had told them. He ran through the scenario several times in his head just to see if there was anything he needed to make sure wouldn't get in the way. Satisfied that the plan should work he pulled out his side arm and switched it to stun while he was thinking about it. He quickly checked the battery pack and after deciding that everything was in working order he returned the weapon to its holster. He the respectfully bowed to the Taisa and said, "Ready when you are ma'am."

Re: [Mission 8.1] Universe at War - Rescue At Veritas

Sune gave careful consideration to what Hanako had said, Lots of unknowns on this mission, but then from what I have heard typical for a SAINT mission. No help for that, we will just have to proceed with caution. "Taisa, with your permission I will return to the fabrication area to oversee completion of the disguises for the away teams."

Re: [Mission 8.1] Universe at War - Rescue At Veritas

"Very well," Hanako told Sune, as she looked at him, her eyes turned blue and her hair turned blond. "We will meet in the cargo bay when everything is ready, and walk off the ship using the rear cargo bay door"

Next, Hanako contacted Pineapple using the ship intercom. "Please set Telemachus down nearby. The ship will keep the shuttle cloaked."

Pineapple replied from the shuttlebay, her voice muffled slightly by the sound of the bay's armored shutter doors moving open in the background. "Ryokai, Taisa."

Re: [Mission 8.1] Universe at War - Rescue At Veritas

"Thank you." Misaki replied curtly. She had wanted a clear go-ahead, at least to use her sidearm. She didn't hear a no about her personal disguise, though. It would come in their favor if she could be undetected, even if she was there weren't many Elysians she assumed would be as well trained, on the station.

When there was a pause long enough, the XO stood straight up, and waited for Hanako to leave the room, or give them the dismissed order. There was always a chance someone had other questions first. I should go get undressed.

"Bravo should have their gear ready asap if they do not." She hoped Miyazawa wouldn't have to work, for a change.
