Re: [Mission 9] Tip Of The Spear

"You are right," Hanako told Sune. "We will go with that plan. I do not think we have anyone trained in demolitions, unfortunately. As for targets and defenses, there seem to be plenty...but it seems they left the higher-value projects in safer locations while this station is dedicated to higher output of smaller vessels."

She leaned over her console and looked over MEGAMI's analysis of the enemy's numbers and movement patterns.

"Also, Hamada got pulled back to the Vesper at the last moment. This makes you my acting first officer."

The Taisa then looked up as the ship slowly came to a halt mere meters from an out-of-service, heavily damaged SMX battleship.

Re: [Mission 9] Tip Of The Spear

After hearing Hanako's proclaim him her acting first officer, Sune considered reminding her that there were two more senior members of the crew. But during his time on the Eucharis he had learned that Hanako did what she thought was best, so reminding her of a fact he was certain she knew was unnecessary. "Yes, Taisa. I will endeavor to do my best." he replied.

Pulling up the current roster he selected candidates for the away team. He then picked up the handset for his station and dialed the ship-wide channel.

"This is Jalen-Ittô Heisho, the following personnel report to the power armor bay and suit up:
  • Himeya - Ittô Hei
  • Yarani - Ittô Hei
  • Konoka - Ittô Hei, bring an extra medical kit
  • Endoh - Nitô Hei
  • Harris - Santô Hei
  • Oski - Santô Hei
  • Remi - Santô Hei

Nayacesen - Santô Hei, report to the Armory prior to going to the PA bay." he said and then hung up the handset. He stood up, turned to Hanako, "With your permission ma'am I will join Nayacesen-Hei in the Armory to discuss what explosives we should bring, since he's the closest thing we have to a demolitions expert."

Re: [Mission 9] Tip Of The Spear

Kumiko cocked her head when Sune's voice came over the intercoms. Nodding to herself, she tapped in a couple more commands into her console before stepping away from it. You know, sometimes it's more like we're infantry who are strangely talented with machinery, rather then engineers... she thought to herself. Shaking her head at the thought, she proceeded down to the Armor Bay, dropping her notepad off on her bunk before going. Once she got there, she looked around, and made her way over to her PA.

Re: [Mission 9] Tip Of The Spear

Irenika carefully parked The Eurcharis beside the out-of-service hulk. With that done and Sune had made his announcement, she decided to add another announcement with the intercom.

"Attention everyone. Do remember to do a mental backup before moving out, especially those infiltrating the base."

Re: [Mission 9] Tip Of The Spear

Takeyu let out a sigh as he put away his tool-kit; he pondered about a few things, and rubbed the back of his hand unconciously. Hearing Irenika's voice over the intercom he made his way toward medical, "I'll stop there first before heading to the armory," he said and, a few moments later, found himself in medical.

He looked nervously around the infirmary; he always hated anything that looked like an infirmary, or hospital for that matter.

Re: [Mission 9] Tip Of The Spear

At the infirmary, Takeyu would find a smiling, yet inwardly aprrehensive, Konoka, attempting to ward off her worries on the possibilities of the mission's vital impact upon, potentially, each memebr of the crew's well-being. Sorting out her supplies, and in this trying to drag out an extra medical kit-her former fellow dctor's specific instruction on this did nothing for her worrisome state a the moment-she said brightly, still giving a scatterbrained bit of attention to her previous occupation, "Oh, hi......." She looked up, instantly taking on a look of cheerful surprise. "Somebody-I-Don't-Know-Yet-Hei? Oh, umm...I'm Konoka Miyazawa.....or Miyazawa Konoka, the super old Yamatain-y way. I'm the med-specialist here, but, uh.....Here for a back-up, I guess? Okey-doke, let's, then......Also, umm, I'd like to officially welcome you to the Eucharis....Yay! It's good to have a new friend onboard, here. Let's get started, over here please......"

Glancing around her familiar-sized, freshly cleaned (by germophobic her, in a state of hyper, anxiety-advanced productiveness) workspace, she blinked-this place, the only real constant she'd had most of her life since the SAoY at least (what she considered her 'real life') - was full of memories, if she thought about it. Her first day-having a hysterical fit over restoring the life of that one Engineering Officer via ST technology. That was a long time ago-emotional ages ago for young, but steadfast neko medic Konoka. Helping her first best friend-whatever had happened to her, that infantryman. De-toxing an irritated Yarani after the poor thing's unintended exile, but....Forget that, anyways, for now. Battling those freaky bugs, way back in-well, she was proud of that. It wasn't SO long ago, but, still. And now Yarani's new eye, and her first heavy injury....The bigger blow had been her lack of true assistance then, not the actual wound. But, now-now, she could help out again. That always gave Konoka such satisfaction, her favorite thing. Helping was life-for Konoka, at least.

And now,-now she had a new friend. To like, and to worry about-like all her friends. Friends she liked to help-that was why Konoka DID all this. But she was neglecting New Friend-kun now, so.... "OK. This won't take too long, but,..a little pain is expected, depending on how old your life is. I could sedate you, it's your choice, 'kay? Let's get this done....It could get busy in here before quite a long while. And, uh, sorry if I'm too chatty-personal fault, sorry. OK...."

Time once again for Konoka to help her friends, new-and old. Such was life for Konoka-Helping was life.

Re: [Mission 9] Tip Of The Spear

Takeyu smiled briefly. "No sedation needed; I'm quite used to getting banged up, such was the way with my old profession," his smile broadened slightly. "Ah, but I am being rude aren't I? My names Nayacesen Takeyu, it's nice to meet you Miyazama Konoka," he said with a curt bow before laying down on the bed.

The first thing that came to his mind was how Konoka acted; he would have to get used to the happy-go-lucky manner, but then again, that's how his youngest sibling acted - now he just had to hope that he didn't 'treat' her like his younger sibling, what an embarassment that would be.

Re: [Mission 9] Tip Of The Spear

Sune considered Nika's suggestion to the crew. The clock is ticking, while backup are useful we do not have time to sit around and wait for everyone to get a new update. There must be a better way. He thought.

He picked up the handset on his station and dialed the ship wide channel again. "Attention all hands, out of necessity only personnel who have no mental backup, or did not update their backup prior to the last mission should report to medical. We are on the clock and the Fleet is expecting us to make their job easier." he said.

After handing up the handset he left the bridge and headed for the armory. He needed to look at what was available and determine what extra equipment the team would take.

Re: [Mission 9] Tip Of The Spear

"I'm so very happy to meet you, as well, Nacayacesen-Hei-Try not to get yourself or the rest of the ship too banged up, though, for me, 'kay? I'll begin the machine's job, then. Just relax, it won't take long-umm, incidentally, what was your occupation before this, again? I don't mean to pry-Ah yes, you mentioned mining back at the briefing-Silly me, I've never had much room in my head for details like that-I can be such a spazz!" she sighed, smiling, and shaking her head. At least pretend you can be serious, Miyazawa! Pay attention-you know better by now. This is your best type of work-don't daydream, now! she lectured herself. It was true, though, at least-Konoka was pretty mucha genius at this, a regular wizard of medical work. She'd get it done-she had better not act so much like a spazz, now, especially in front of new crew-her newest 'friend'.

"Sorry, being overly garrulous again, aren't I? It's none of my business, really-Let's just let the machine take it from here, it's ready to go." Dropping her so-usually-effervescent, and energetic, tone, she continued, "It's fascinating, to me, though-the idea of a personal history." Touching an obnoxiously obvious, prominent-in size- neko ear, she continued, "My service for the YSS Eucharis is pretty much IT for me-nothing much before-heh.....Anyhoooo.....A bit of discomfort is expected, depending on how old you are, and how eventful your life is-That's more important, I think, anyways. Alright, this won't take long,so, here we go......"

Smiling at the thought of her own sentiment, a bit vainly, she reminded herself, in a resolution of ethic theory, that the 'eventful' part was comforting-but her own worth, as always, was measured-at least by her, as she saw it-by simply how helpful she could be, at any time, granted. What she thought of it, really, had never mattered to her. She was happy to simply assist, and really, 'help'-people who she should, really. As she would. But she was forgetting something, again...."Ah."

"Nacayasen-Hei, since you are new, I should get a scan of you, via the PMS-1, whilst you're here, at least.....It'll help me with diagnosis, if you DO get hurt, later...at least....." she trailed off, lost in thought...once more. For once more, she had the strangest sense, she hoped would not be proven just as true again, that someone she knew-this one, or any of her friends, really-would be hurt, once again.

Well, she'd help them, just as she always had-that was Konoka. This 'sense' did so often come true, that it was becoming more than a 'sense', but a knowledge she che could both foresee and dread-but in the moment it did, she would help them-once more. If you saw something coming-you could just do something about it, more then! She was Konoka, and that as how she measured things-as she always had, and once more.
Konoka was never entirely useless-Konoka was a helper.

Re: [Mission 9] Tip Of The Spear

Takeyu did feel a slight discomfort, but compared to what he had gone through before, it was only slight. "Don't mean to sound rude, but if we can get the scan done quickly then sure, the Ittô Heisho did just say that we are limited on time, and I don't want to keep him waiting," he smiled nervously.

Re: [Mission 9] Tip Of The Spear

Taisa Hanako called Blackberry to the bridge and then went to the power armor bay and donned her gear. She would have preferred to stay on the ship this time, but her logic was that her computer skills were needed on the away team. If they could get access to shipyard computers she could do tremendous damage, especially considering what she'd had learned from the Mishhu computer parts she'd bought recently.

She used the ship's phone system (avoiding her preferred telepathic texting) to call the bridge and asked for a very stealthy scan of the nearby derelict Mishhu ship for empty locations to teleport into. If there were some available, they could teleport over. If not, they'd have to just jump across the vacuum.

Re: [Mission 9] Tip Of The Spear

Sune approached the armory and entered his access code. It took only a moment for the door to open, but it was enough for Sune to recall the last time he saw the door open. And a Nekovalkyjra working with the NMX stepped out in a Mindy. Fortunately this time nothing so sinister occurred. He entered the armory and began to take stock of what was present. The explosives were relatively easy to find. We should probably take as much as possible, the more damage we can cause to the internal systems, the more disruption we should cause. I'll leave the preparation of the charges to Nayacesen-Hei since he says he has experience. Now to see what weapons we have to augment our Mindy's. he thought.

Moving over to the weapon racks he was confronted with an assortment of firearms that he was not familiar with. After a moments examination he realized what they were. "Elysian weapons, the Taisa must have chosen to use these instead of Star Army standard weaponry." Looking around he found the standard weapons he was familiar with, he quickly opted for a Ke-M4-W2901 LASR with a Ke-M4-W2901 LASR-SLAG. Enough extra firepower to help get the job done. He also selected a pair of Ke-M2-W2908 Offensive Augmentation Pods to add to his Mindy. With his selections made and Nayacesen-Hei most likely getting his backup made, he left the armory and entered the power armor bay.

Seeing Hanako in the power armor bay puzzled him. "Are you coming with us Taisa? I presumed you would be staying with the Eucharis." He said crossing over to his issued armor.

He set about to attaching the extra modules. After this mission I really need to see about putting in an MCAS request. Slouching while wearing the standard Mindy is a real pain. he thought.

The image of the neko wearing Hanako's armor came to mind and Sune had an epiphany. He pulled out his survival knife and began scraping away at the markings that identified it as belonging to the Eucharis. "Ma'am, may I suggest that for this mission we dress for the occasion." he said as he ran over to the nearest damage control station.

Sune removed a Handheld Plasma Cutter and returned to his armor. He fired up the cutter and looked at the armor like a sculptor eyeing a block of stone. He then made a series of strokes with the cutter, bringing it close enough to score the armor without doing serious damage. Then he pulled the cutter a bit farther back and passed it over a few other areas, the heat causing the exterior to blacken in places. Turning off the cutter he turned back to Hanako. "Taisa, as we learned in our last encounter the NMX have soldiers who can and do use our equipment. Creating simulated battle damage, will allow us to move about in plain sight in areas where using active camouflage is not a viable option. Theoretically we can pose as NMX soldiers in acquired equipment if necessary." he said.

Re: [Mission 9] Tip Of The Spear

"I do not intend to damage my armor," Hanako replied coolly. "If I need a disguise I can use the stealth system. I will be on the away team for network penetration purposes. We have just under an hour to complete our mission and return to the ship. To remain on the shipyard would put us in the way of friendly fire when the main attack force comes. Therefore, we should strive for a fast in-and-out mission and, of course, not to be detained by capture or surrounded by enemy forces. I am going to wear in my teleporter unit in case I need to move quickly."

Re: [Mission 9] Tip Of The Spear

"None of what I have done is more than cosmetic. And frankly Taisa our technology has not been exactly working well against the NMX."

He turned to face Hanako, "The Quantum Mirror system failed to keep the Eucharis from being detected at Veritas because somehow they were expecting us. That speaks of a breach of security I do not even want to really think about. In New Elysia we were boarded and our internal security systems easily overcome. We did not even know we were boarded until after the generator was blown. The NMX know our technology too well. They know our protocols and procedures, and obviously have turned members of our own people against us. So you will have to excuse me for not being willing to entirely trust using our technology to keep me hidden." Sune paused.

"Using the holographic system to generate the illusion of damage would not work against another power armor. That's why I opting for a more low tech method of disguise." He secured the cutter and put it back in its case.

"In truth Taisa this method of disguise would not work for your Mindy 1H. It is far too distinctive and unique for the NMX to have captured more than the one at New Elysia. So the odds of one being present here would be remote. So the cloaking system is your best option."

He then turned and activated the armor opening sequence as he began removing his uniform.

Re: [Mission 9.1] Tip Of The Spear

"I am feeling very nervous and impatient," Hanako admitted to Sune. "I just want to get this done and get out of there. I will go find a computer terminal on the enemy ship. You go on without me. Maintain radio silence and do not take too long."

With that, the Taisa jumped out of the ship's armor bay and crossed the short distance to the derelict Mishhuvurthyar ship, entering through a damaged turret mount into a maintenance corridor.

Re: [Mission 9.1] Tip Of The Spear

Sune paused for a moment to consider Hanako's words. Taisa Hanako, nervous? This is somehow disturbing more. I have already seen some of the Taisa's irrational behavior. But for her to admit to a subordinate that she was nervous...

Sune picked up the intercom handset and dialed the ship wide channel. "Away team, you have ten minutes to be in the power armor bay and suited up, Jalen-Heisho Out."

Sliding into his armor he completed the power up sequence. Once complete he attached the helmet and released the armor from its restraints. Once free he walked around the bay and headed back towards the armory. While doing so he instructed the AIES to use laser communications only.

Re: [Mission 9.1] Tip Of The Spear

Any normal person might've feared working with explosives that could kill you at a moment notice, either because of a mistake you've made or because of enemy fire. For Takeyu though, it was a thrill and he enjoyed the challenge - plus, he like explosions.

As he entered the armory; he was slightly startled by the appearance of a power armor, he recomposed himself quickly though and stared at the explosives assembled. "Apologies for being late Jalen-Heisho," said Takeyu as he mentally recalled what kind of explosives the Star Army used.

"If I may ask, what do we have onboard?"

Re: [Mission 9.1] Tip Of The Spear

Sune motioned to the explosives locker. "Nayacesen-Hei, I took stock earlier of what was listed, we have eighty blocks of Type 31 Plastic Explosive, and ten Type 31 Satchel Charges with detonators. We need four of the Satchel Charges prepared and twenty blocks, all to be fitted with remote detonators. Once you have them prepared, grab a Ke-M4-W2901 LASR with a Ke-M4-W2901 LASR-SLAG and suit up. Once the team is assembled we will distribute the charges" he said to Takeyu.

Sune left the armory and reentered the bay, where he spotted Kumiko. "Endoh-Hei, my apologies I had not seen you in the bay. Once you are suited up, grab a LASR with a LASR-SLAG for extra firepower. Although hopefully we can avoid combat while on board. Our objectives are simple," he said "we have the station blueprints, we are going to plant satchel charges at four of the main junctions. We obviously do not have enough explosives onboard to destroy a structure this large, so will go with a surgical strike and cripple their systems from within. As a technician your talents will be most useful in determining where exactly at the junctions we should plant the charges for maximum effect. In addition to those four charges we will have a number of smaller charges that we can distribute along the way on anything we see that appears vital. When the fleet arrives we blow the charges and disable the station as much as possible. After you get your gear, familiarize yourself with the station plans, look for various routes to the targets."

Re: [Mission 9.1] Tip Of The Spear

Takeyu gave a quick nod and went to work. He handled the plastic explosive with care, though he handled the satchels with even more care, the plastic explosives wouldn't detonate, even if dropped or manhandled. He also treated the satchel charges with equally as much care, if not more.

He migrated the gathered explosives over to a table; and then opened up a crate that contained the remote detonators. He packaged them securely with each explosive, and double checked his work to make certain that nothing could accidently set the explosives off.

When he was done, he reassessed his work, double and triple checked and then quickly bounded over to the weapons rack. He looked for the weapons in question, and found the two that Sune had ordered him to take. He checked them over, nodded with approval and headed into the PA Bay

Inside he found his Mindy, still looking fresh and without a dent, though he knew that would almost certainly change. He double checked the accessories that were on it. A Ke-M2-W3000 General Equipment Pack was still mounted to the dorsal hard point, it had never been removed.

Been awhile, he muttered to himself as he stepped inside and started up the sequence.

Re: [Mission 9.1] Tip Of The Spear

Kumiko nodded, quickly finishing her preparations and suiting up in her PA. Now that her chosen setup for this mission was put together, she went to go arm herself with the LASR and LASR-SLAG Sune had told her, though she hesitated when it came to actually grabbing them. "Jalen-Heisho, what kind of rounds should I be carrying for the SLAG? Since we're on a station, I think SLEX rounds might make sense, since they will be good for screening and eliminating unarmored targets which should be more likely on a station." Kumiko paused. "I'm not sure though..."
