Re: [restart point] Mission 2

Asher's body whirled around the corner and into the recreation room, and the Hei rapidly slowed down. He spinned once, chuckling at his own victory.

"Hah! This Hei isn't sleeping in an Armor Bay tonight!" Asher grinned, though his grin quickly changed as he noted the presence of superior officers.

"I apologize that we were late, I seemed to have held up the new guys and in my ignorance, the time left me." Asher bowed to the Officers in the room, hoping that being late wasn't going to warrant something bad. "Did we happen to miss something?"

Re: [restart point] Mission 2

seeing people start to run, Kai followed along, once he reached Yoroko he asked "Why are we running?" while continuing to do so next to her.

Re: [restart point] Mission 2

Kai's question was soon answered -- the simulation was nearly ready.

The 18 were evenly split between the two VR rooms -- Nyton, Masako, Asher, Mara, Hinoto, Ichigo, Naoko, Kai and Takuma were in the port room.

Yukari, Tom, Miyoko, Sanjuro, Sora, Nimura, Yuril, Yoroko, and Serizawa were in the other.

The bulky, grey-gold suits formed in front of each of the crew, backs opening wide for each to step inside. The feel was like that of a Harpy; each suit had synthetic padding around it with a large screen in the helmet to immerse the pilot in the simulation.

"Everyone is comfortable?" Yukari said, trying not to sound nervous. She hated the simulation suit no less than the last time she was in one.

Re: [restart point] Mission 2

As Tom was the closest person to an armorer the ship had, Miharu opened a volumetric window in front of him with a list of crew member names and a request to assign a power armor to each of them. There were six Mindy II power armors, whom each had a selectable configuration. There were twelve B-variant Daisies and two C-variant Daisies (The C had a better sensor package).

There also was the loadout for each... and a 60 seconds countdown for him to cover all of the equipment. No time for custom requests for equipment now - it was up to him to choose what he saw best for the crew.

Re: [restart point] Mission 2

Sora stepped into a simulation suit curiously with a soft smile. "Oh okay, we're not using the actual Power Armor suits." The suit closed behind her. "This is different."

Re: [restart point] Mission 2

Support team... Sanjuro thought silently to himself as he aligned himself along with the rest of his team. He started to become slightly frustrated with himself for his apprehension to this armor simulation; he knew all the facts, the numbers, the math, and yet he still loathed the mere idea of powered armor and its use. However, this was no different from his previous experiences with armor combat...each time beforehand he had known the facts, the numbers and the math, and he STILL ended up being the first one out of the simulation. Usually with a large 'X' scratched across his name, and a few snickers from his peers.

...well. I suppose it's better than the fire teams. Still... Sanjuro sighed as he stared at the powered armor that had formed before him, the recesses exposed and open, beckoning him to enter its folds. With a deep breath followed by an equally deep grimace, Sanjuro knelt and entered the armor, allowing it to immerse him as he silently readied himself for the worst.

"I am ready to begin, Suzuka-Shosa."

Re: [restart point] Mission 2

While some seemed to disagree with the feel of the suit, Serizawa had the complete opposite opinion. While he donned his simulation suit, he was humming a merry tune to himself while a broad grin split his face in half, running ear to ear.

"This is paradise," the scientist sighed. "It's not wet or sticky and the best part is the complete lack of a catheter and the weird umbilical cord."

Re: [restart point] Mission 2

Yoroko slipped into a suit and felt it close behind her. "Well it's not as comfortable as a DAISY but that is okay." Yoroko said as she pushed her body against the inside of the suit feeling the resistance it provided. As Yoroko pressed against the warm insides of the suit it began to massage her body. Yoroko let the suit massage her working out the stress in her muscles. That feels good Yoroko thought to herself, hey, get focused you're not here for a massage. Yoroko mentally chided herself.

Re: [restart point] Mission 2

Asher's smirk got wide as he entered into the simulator, he was anxious for the upcoming fight. It had been awhile since he had shot, destroyed, sabotaged, disabled, flayed, slashed, cleaved, bludgeoned, pierced, blasted, crushed, broke, and simply ruined someone's day. He was getting chills up and down his spine.

But oh... What if he's injured? Pssh, I won't feel it, 'sides I'd keep kickin' anyway.

But OH... What if he's killed? Alright, first, nutin' can kill me. How'eva, it's technically not 'reality', it 'can' happen, but shit, whateva', I got this.

But OHHHHH... What if some of his fireteam is killed? They better not fuckin' die! If they 'do' die, I'll just start shootin' more. He gave his squadmates a look, and then return to his own thoughts.

"Everyone is comfortable?" Yukari said, trying not to sound nervous.

"C'mon, Sazuka-Shosa, ya don't have ta' feel comfortable ta' make the poor fella' on tha' wrong side a'ya rifle feel sorry fo' bein' there." Asher chuckled.

Re: [restart point] Mission 2

Ahh, these ones aren't all pink inside Kai thought, slipping into the simulation suit I just wish Yoroko and Yuril were in the same VR room, course, it isn't real combat so I guess it doesn't matter The Yamataian thought while the suit closed in on him "Hmm, it feels a bit different from the Daisy" He mumbled at himself.

Re: [restart point] Mission 2

Miyoko settled into the simulator, taking a long, deep breath to calm herself. Only a simulation... worst that happens is that everybody sees that I'm no good at this stuff. Her self-pride still insisted that that was a pretty high price to pay.

"I'm ready," she responded to Yukari's query. The 'as I'm going to get' was mentally added to herself.

Re: [restart point] Mission 2

As Nyton settled into his suit he breathed deep and evenly in preparation for the coming simulated conflict. He rehearsed all of their planning in his mind. There was little to be nervous about. He just wanted to do his best and above all work the new crew together. Winning would just be a secondary perk.

I will provide strength for my crewmates, just like you said grandpa. he thought to himself.

Re: [restart point] Mission 2

"Suzuka," Yukari replied quickly to Asher amid an eyebrow twitching. Some day ... "Remember, Hei-san, everyone, the purpose is to repel the invaders, not destroy the vessel. Consider what is on the other side of your line of sight."

Re: [restart point] Mission 2

Slipping into the simulation suit, which felt indeed different from her experience back at Fort Ready (Although that could be due to the fact she didn't have to strip naked in front of a bunch of people). The neko felt at ease inside here, being in any kind of power armor always made her feel relaxed, if probably just because it was something she knew instinctively how to do.

Re: [restart point] Mission 2

Takuma gave a quick yawn before getting in the simulation suit. He could use a little action after sitting in those chairs for that long. The technician climbed inside and let himself adjust to the suit. "Kimura-Heisho, ready for action," he said. "First one dead buys a round of drinks!"

Re: [restart point] Mission 2

"A'course, just shoot anythin' that scoots n' skitta's." Asher said confidently. However, he sat for a moment, considering her words. The Hei was a little destructive when it came to fighting, but he always thought that was a good thing. He began to ponder on it more before Takuma made his statement.

"Eeeeeeyy! Kimura's got tha' right idea, first one dead buys drinks and sleeps in the armor bay tonight! Don't get shot!" Asher added a laugh on the end of his statement.

Re: [restart point] Mission 2

Tom Freeman gulped audibly as the list of the Miharu’s available armors and equipment were laid out to him. His specialty was in engineering, not weaponry, but he had read about the suits during his college studies.

The 60 second time limit, however, made it extremely difficult to go over the pros and cons of each possible outfit, so the Yamataian drew upon his gut feeling for assistance.

As he streamed through the list, delegated armors to personnel, his glower expression revealed his dislike for the unexpected and rushed assignment. This was probably one of Kotori’s tests, but did she really have to make it 60 seconds? He let a soft groan escape his lips as he finalized the entry. He tried to follow Nyton’s orders to the best of his ability, but found that he needed to make a few judgement calls himself.

The Yamataian probably made a few mistakes, but hopefully he made enough correct decisions to avoid putting his crewmates at a disadvantage.

Re: [restart point] Mission 2

With Tom's input done. The simulation began.

Each simulation suit had their helmet volumetric displays come online. Streams of textual data ran past the pilots eyes as a lengthy system boot and diagnostic was engaged as each began mimicking the power armor Tom had selected for each pilot. The exceptions were Takuma, Naoko and Sanjuro; whom Tom had skipped: they ended up in a Daisy 1C similarly to the majority of the crew of the crew, except that they lacked the extra positron rifle in their loadouts.

The powered armor made mental interface with their pilots (either through the helmet instrumentation or the SPINE interface for the nekos - whichever was the most convenient) and adjusted to the size of each in the same fashion the Daisy power armor itself would as they adapted to their pilots. Gyroscope systems came online to help with the balance of the suits and weapon systems assigned to each suits accounted and made ready.

Once the suits were primed, visual feed came. At first it was only blackness. Then there was the message: "SIMULATION START, POWERING UP".

The feeling of the pilots bodies nested inside the simulation suits vanished in favor of feeling the emulated power armor themselves. The simulation suit picked up on the mental impulses of their occupants and moved accordingly.

The view cleared up to reveal how each power armor was currently secured to the red hanger framework in one of the two power armor bays which were each opened up on one of the Hoshi's multifuction bays - the opening to space was currently shuttered. Masako, Yoroko, Takuma, Asher, Kai, Yuril, Sanjuro, Nyton and Tom were in the port bay. Ichi, Yukari, Sora, Hinoto, Ichigo, Mara, Miyoko, Naoko and Nimura were in the starboard bay.

As soon as they gained awareness of their surroundings, the simulated environment of the Miharu shook. The lighting of the room flickered and so did their instrumentation. Yukari's sensor suite benefitted to being tied to the Miharu's and reported that the ship had been hit by a subspace detonator torpedo which had temporarily disabled the vessel's engines and shields.

A second much more violent rumble rattled the suits (fortunately still secured in their hanger frames) and the network filtered information to Yukari that a Nozomi scoutship was at the origin of the first attack. Labelled SS Meng Po, the enemy KFY-built vessel had loosed a pulse of its main gun and made a direct hit with the Miharu's starboard gravimetric engine.

Klaxons began ringing inside the ship, with the call for battlestations being made over the intercom. "Shields down. Prepare to defend against boarders," a voice which suspiciously sounded like Sanri's filtered in their headsets and simulated nekovalkyrja sprites (the simulated sprites were gray colored and faceless) began operating the loading arms to outfit the power armors. The arms extended out and the suits shuddered as missile pods and modules were secured into place.

As the Miharu's dorsal side was wracked with attacks from the Meng Po's variable weapon pods, the hanger frames holding the power armors released, allowing each to move of their own volition.

Re: [restart point] Mission 2

Nyton immediately jumped out from his frame, brought out his plasma rifle and stood guard on the right side of the door that lead into the rest of the ship. Before he had even reached the door he had begun to take stock of all the data available to him via the AIES. Using his new vision he opened up status screens all around him to better read them without getting crossed over each other. One screen was a display of the two Armor bays which showed everyone's location via small dots marked with everyone's names.

Port Bay: Kurohoshi, Mizuno, Kimura, Westwood, Nakamura, Tsukade, Ashitaka, Claymere, Freeman

Starboard Bay: Serizawa, Suzuka, Ketsurui, Hinoto, Ichigo, Mara, Saito, Sato, Nimura

Damn, our teams are a little split up. Alright no problem. Hopefully the enemy doesn't know the layout of the ship well enough to risk a teleport inside our position yet. We need to move out immediately. he thought to himself and kept a scan on the bay so that he could react fast enough should an enemy Mindy teleport in.

Quickly, as fast as he could think it, Nyton tried to relay everyone's team assignments via a small screen over the CIES. He realized that Fire Team 1 was unbalanced so he quickly attempted to correct it.

One of the screens that Nyton also studied was his Daisy's weapons payload.

Plasma rifle w/focusing adaptor - Ammunition: 300/300
Tactical drones - Inventory: 2/2
Mini missle pods - Ammunition: 10/10 - 10/10
Positron Rifle - Ammunition 60/60 - Magazine 2/2
Gravimetric engine Status: Green

Hm, no grenade launcher attached to our plasma rifles. Maybe we can get some attached quickly. First things first though. he thought.

"The enemy must know to expect Armors in the Armor bay so we need to relocate fast! Kurohoshi, Westwood, rally your teams. Get ready to secure the hallway. Suzuka, secure your bay and get ready to move. Serizawa and Sato, stand by with the Support team." he ordered.

Re: [restart point] Mission 2

Fully into the simulation, Kai wondered at how real it felt.. after half a second Kai realised he needed to be alert. He hopped off the rack and looked around, then had the simulated AIES find everyone for im. with them all displayed in his helmet, Kai scanned around visually to make sure there were no enemies right here. propping the gun in his hands, He readied himself for whatever was to come, be it orders or boarders.
