Re: [restart point] Mission 2

Once again, Kai found himself pondering over the information set before him. he pondered where the gate lead and why that place would be so important, but, obviously, without a base of knowledge on Eve or anything else, he was quickly lost. Hearing Sora's comment ant seeing her reaction showed him just how bad these people were and made him feel all the more like he needed to be here to stop these people. Before his only real purpose was personal gain, but now he had something better to fight for. Freaking evil people! we should kill 'em all! he thought, a slightly angry expression covering his face.

Re: [restart point] Mission 2

Miyoko couldn't help but emit a hint of a groan at the announcement that the crew might be running through training simulations. She'd hoped that her promotion to a bridge position would spare her from such exercises... it seemed that she'd hoped wrong. Chasing down an entire battlefleet single-handedly wasn't her idea of a jolly good time either, but she was getting used to implied mortal peril by now.

She'd just have to do what she'd done so far: trust that the officers really knew what they were doing and do everything in her power to make sure that nobody died. Of course, the latter part was a bit harder now that she wasn't the acting medical officer... which reminded her, she had to meet the new medical officer and size him up. Or offer her services as a nurse. One of the two. Either way, she wasn't going to just plop the crew's health and well-being in the hands of a total stranger without meeting him first.

Re: [restart point] Mission 2

"I think a family is a bit more than a vague genetic relation, if Eve is even that," Serizawa stated with the intention of easing Sora's troubles.

Having said that, Serizawa realized that their discussion was steering the briefing slightly off of its intended course. His thoughts returned back toward the wormhole gate.

"Taisa," the scientist began to ask, "is there any other intelligence on anything relating to a second gate in the hands of the Daughters of Eve? As far as I know, NovaCorp gates cannot form a complete wormhole without another gate on the other side."

Re: [restart point] Mission 2

Kotori shook her head. "No. We don't. Actually, we're the ones charged with finding out about the answers."

Re: [restart point] Mission 2

"It looks like you're going to be quite busy running that Armor sim if we find the time for it." Nyton whispered over to Masako who had been surprisingly quiet throughout the majority of the briefing.

Nyton had listened and watched as more information and reactions was made available for him to study. He had watched the recorded video clips of Eve consuming children during his research of their target. As crazy as it sounded Nyton thought he could understand Eve further if he saw how she ate.

"Kotori-sama, can we expect to have any kind of backup during this mission if we make such a request?" Nyton asked.

Re: [restart point] Mission 2

"Ah..." Kotori pondered that question a moment and then replied: "We will be acting independently for the most part, unless we manage to secure the Sekkou's aid on the way... or that the situation turns out like last time in Koenic: a golden opportunity that we must allow the Star Army of Yamatai to exploit. Otherwise, the fleet are stretched pretty thinly and I don't really want to ask for aid unless there's a damned good reason... seeing Gemini is surrounded by the SMX on two fronts."

Re: [restart point] Mission 2

Nyton nodded in agreement. "True. I was only infering if such a case where it were absolutely necessary or beneficial should arise."

"Well, I would say our objectives are as laid out as possible for the time being. Aside from adjustments made as warranted, we should probably begin preparations as soon as possible." he suggested.

Re: [restart point] Mission 2

Kotori turned to Yukari. "Suzuka-Shosa will be handing each of the crewmembers aboard their respective roles and duties to carry out, as well as whom would be their ranking superior officer. This done, this should conclude this session."

Re: [restart point] Mission 2

More talk about Eve and Mellisson continued to elude Sanjuro as the speech and questions continued. When he couldn't grasp the conversation at hand, he allowed his mind to wander towards the implications of the Mishhu...he was a bit shocked when he had heard Nataria had been attacked. He was in no way optimistic, but he allowed himself to at least believe that the home lines were safe enough to live without being fearful of an attack. The farther his mind wandered, the closer his thoughts came to ones of his own family as he idly switched the position of his folded hands in his lap.

He wondered how they were doing...but only for a moment.

Sanjuro was abruptly brought out of his hazy daze when a single set of seemingly harmless words rattled their way from Kotori's lips straight into his own flawless, perfectly-cleaned ears:
Kotori said:
...if time allows - even a power armor simulation involving all of our personnel...
The medical officer was quick to stifle the groan of displeasure that arose from his throat. His distaste for powered armors, guns, and fighting in general was so heady that it was nearly palpable. As much as he tried, he could not help but grimace slightly from the very thought of having to endure an armor simulation...much less the opinions of him that could be severely changed when his inadequacy at combat was displayed in front of the crew like a roasted duck on display on a market streetway.

The medical officer kept his comments to himself, however. He did not have the right, nor the courage to question the orders of a superior, much less a Ketsurui. Sanjuro just hoped that they would simply not have enough time for a simulation...after all, he had a lot of work to do, sorting through the mess he figured the previous medical officer aboard this ship had left him. A job that he actually looked forward to and waited for with great anticipation, interestingly enough. After all...the newest 36Xbc77 model of the Hemosynthetic Regeneration Tank? What respectable medical officer wouldn't be absolutely giddy (giddy being a very loose term when coupled with Sanjuro's personality) at the very thought?

Sanjuro was all too happy to hear Kotori announce the end of her briefing. It had been informative...if not very clarifying. The medical officer rose and bowed to the Taisa before turning around and awaiting Suzuka-Shosa to take the lead of the rest of the pack.

Re: [restart point] Mission 2

Sora looked at Yukari curiously, she already knew what she had to do as the medical officer but, she waited patiently for the Miharu's executive officer to send them on her way. There was a reassuring coolness against her right wrist which caused her to look down at her hands in her lap again. She saw the gold of the bracelet that Yuriko gave her sparkling in the light. she smiled softly again, a thoughtful look crossed her face.

Yes, there are real monsters here that we have to slay for the good of the little ones waiting for the new age and for the ones that have yet to be born. We all have people counting on us. She lightly touched the multi-function bracelet with her left hand and looked up again, the simple sentiment of the gesture had reassured her, as had the hand on her shoulder. She flashed Serizawa a bright, reassuring smile in an effort to let him know that she was going to be okay.

Re: [restart point] Mission 2

Yukari stood up from the console and bowed to Kotori. "Thank you, Taisa."

"I will go over the officers first, so the enlisted can understand who they are to report to." She looked over everyone to ensure they understood.

"Ketsurui Kotori-Taisa is our commanding officer. You are well aware of her purpose and her responsibilities. Suffice to say that in all cases, her callsign for our squad, 'Black,' is Black Zero. If necessary, 'Zero' will suffice.

"You know I am executive officer. I am also the primary pilot of the Miharu, and during times of battle I am the primary commander. In that instance, please refer to me as Home One. However, at certain times, I will also take control of one of our two starfighters, or a power armor. The fighters have designations; if in an armor, Miharu has told me I must be Pawn One. I will be the squad's sharpshooter." She frowned a little, but hoped the designation would amuse the crew in time.

"I will be the senior most officer you will encounter in most instances. If you have a concern for our Taisa, please ask me first. I will attempt to help you; if I cannot, then we shall ask the Taisa together. I am responsible for all of you, and I will serve you to the utmost I can." She bowed.

"Shoi Nyton Claymere is our chief tactical officer. Where the Taisa plans our broader strategies, Claymere-Shoi is responsible for battlefield tactics. He is also responsible for your deployment, should you be needed in power armor. While the Taisa and I might orchestrate the ultimate goals of the battle, the Shoi will direct you toward those goals. I will give orders during battle, and you are all expected to follow those orders. But the Shoi will have chief control of our battle strategy. In all cases, his callsign is Bishop One. Please follow his lead; he is most knowledgeable." She bowed to Nyton.

"Ketsurui Sora-Kohosei is our chief medical officer. She will have direct control over the medical room and our science laboratory. She will conduct and maintain all Soul Transfer back-ups, and will deal with evaluating primarily the mental health of each of you. Consider her a counselor as well as a medical doctor. The Kohosei has the authority to withhold from the Taisa and myself the content of conversations any of you have with her, unless they constitute a likely threat to this crew or this ship. Feel free to utilize her as a resource in times of mental stress. In all cases, her callsign is Queen One." She bowed to Sora.

"Kurohoshi Masako-Juni is our armor wing leader. She is in charge of the power armor pilots. All pilots can consider her their primary officer-in-charge. She is in charge of power armor inventory and munitions, and she leads our attacking forces unless specified otherwise. The presence of the Shoi or myself in an armor does not override her authority unless explicitly stated; she is in command. If there is a sortie, or battlestations are called, report to her for your assignment. In all cases, her callsign is Knight One." She bowed to Masako.

"Santô Juni Tom Freeman is our chief engineer and caretaker. He is in charge of the technicians and power armor pilots when they are filling a technician shift. All engineering concerns fall to him, so if the Nodal System in your room is creating pillows every five minutes, please call his communicator. He is also in charge our diets, which makes him very important." She had to steal a small wink at him, but the smile did not touch her face. "If you have any special dietary concerns, please tell him. He will fulfill them for you. He will also help Kurohoshi-Juni with munitions and armor upkeep. His callsign in all cases is Rook One." She bowed to Tom, smiling at the bottom of the bow. She rose, face all business again.

"If you must address the ship's computer through your armor, or while communicating outside the vessel, refer to it as MEGAMI or CIES. As we are now dealing with vessels who could theoretically break our communication channels far more swiftly than our previous opponents, it is vital we do not refer to each other outside of the vessel by anything except callsigns unless we are using very short-range radios."

She paused to ensure all had sunk in.

Re: [restart point] Mission 2

The young Ketsurui returned Yukari's bow with a furious blush on her cheeks, Queen One? she thought to herself. Sora looked back up at her executive officer, looking rather embarrassed as she smoothed the strands of long red hair that had fallen forward with her sudden movement back behind her ears. Her hands were quickly placed back into her lap, where she idly toyed with her multi-function bracelet as she looked forward in efforts to give Yukari her full attention.

Re: [restart point] Mission 2

For the remainder of the briefing, Masako had remained quiet and attentive with her 'business' expression upon her face. This way, her resulting horror and disgust with some points of the briefing were not conveyed to everyone else. As the briefing was wrapping up, she started to let her guard down a bit.

Nyton said:
"It looks like you're going to be quite busy running that Armor sim if we find the time for it."

"Eh...oh, yes...I believe I am," she replied quietly as she seemed to gain a pondering countenance upon her face. "I'll probably mainly concentrate on my dedicated power armor pilots," she replied after Nyton received the answer to his final question. "But I may want to see how good the remainder of our newcomers are in armor...mainly to ease my worries." she commented before silencing herself to listen to the Executive Officer.

Yukari said:
"Kurohoshi Masako-Juni is our armor wing leader. She is in charge of the power armor pilots. All pilots can consider her their primary officer-in-charge. She is in charge of power armor inventory and munitions, and she leads our attacking forces unless specified otherwise. The presence of the Shoi or myself in an armor does not override her authority unless explicitly stated; she is in command. If there is a sortie, or battlestations are called, report to her for your assignment. In all cases, her callsign is Knight One."

Knight One, Masako thought calmly. My callsign of my first mission seems to have stuck to me, she thought idlely before glancing over towards Sora. At least it's not an embarrassing one like Queen One. Though I guess it's appropriate for a Ketsurui. the young warrant officer pondered.

Re: [restart point] Mission 2

Well... A rather simple callsign system but... Effective I suppose. The only one out of place is that 'Home One' designation but... Not like it's any harder to remember.

The neko quickly committed each callsign and the person attached to it, to memory and nodded to herself.

Rather lengthy briefing... Going to have a lot of stuff to mull over in my head for a while here... And I still haven't even had time to make any friends with the veterans!

Re: [restart point] Mission 2

With the emerging of Sora's smile, Serizawa felt his concern for her state of mind quickly slip away. This was fortunate as the briefing was about to conclude and there was much work to do.

However, before those tasks were started, Serizawa could not allow himself to miss a golden opportunity. A small but evil grin grew on his face as he stared intently at Sora.

"Moving up in the world, aren't we, Your Highness?" Serizawa teased Sora. "From princess to queen in such a short length of time. Perhaps we should convert your bracelet into a crown."

Re: [restart point] Mission 2

Sora looked at Serizawa with a look of protest, as she shook her head. "Just what I need, a crown. At least the bracelet has a function as a communicator?" She commented softly back, the blush on her cheeks deepened.

Re: [restart point] Mission 2

Great, more names to remember... Kai thought as this latest information was thrown at him. Kai was having enough trouble remembering the crew's real names, let alone callsigns. Guess i'll just have to study he thought. the prospect of an armor sim brightened his mood a little, it was something fun to do.

Re: [restart point] Mission 2

The naming system was duley noted..although at most all it did was remind Sanjuro how much he disliked chess. A game of war...why could they not play a game of healing instead? Maybe a little board game with a tiny neko in the center, from which you had to extract fictional, comically-named ailments from small grooves in her body with a pair of tweezers. Perhaps if you touched the sides of the grooves, her nose would flash red and emit a buzzing noise. Sanjuro would enjoy a game like that.

Sanjuro's nodded as his anticipation was peaked when he heard that a Ketsurui would be his immediate superior in medical priorities. He expect to learn so much from experience on the ship, but a Ketsurui endowing him with knowledge as well? No doubt she would have all the answers to his questions about the finer points of the Hemosynthetic Tanks, and possibly give him more information in the mannerisms of the Nekovalkyja mind pertaining to militaristic views in civilian-based scenarios...Sanjuro had a hard time grasping that particular chapter of the Neko Psychoanalysis Volume VI textbook he was required to read during his first year of medical courses. Too many big words, as he remembered.

The solemn medical officer noted Freeman-Juni as the one in charge of the cooking. He made a mental note to have a small discussion with the caretaker...if any measures could be taken to quell Sanjuro's preferences for food, the medical officer would gladly take the small amount of time it would take to give Tom a short explanation. He began to eagerly await the free time required for such an excursion.

Re: [restart point] Mission 2

Yoroko memorized the call signs used for everyone involved, no doubt more would be added after everyone was familiarized with the ship and their new stations. The thought of the misshu being related to her, albeit indirectly still gnawed on Yoroko's nerves a little, however Yoroko managed to push it to the back of her mind for the time being and focus on the rest of the briefing.

Re: [restart point] Mission 2

"I'm guessin' we're tha' twos and threes." Asher thought aloud, speaking particularly to no one. He didn't even mind the looseness of his tounge as he scratched the side of his jaw, his under lip curled in a bit of wonder.

Pssh, don't really give a damn if we got special names'a not. As long as I'm in a position to where I can kick the level of ass required'a me.
