Gashmere City

The world moved in slow motion.

Chiasa didn’t have time to celebrate killing one of the pair of Kodians that had been attacking Sanda. The pharmacy specialist turned her attention back to her battle buddy after the Ranger punched her blade into the throat of the second assailant, but it was then that the ground began to shake beneath her feet, compelling the tiny Nekovalkyrja to shift her attention towards the source. Her gaze widened as a series of explosions rumbled towards the ST Center, in the manner of dice falling one after the other. Moving quickly, Chiasa picked up her dedicated field medical kit and slammed it shut in an effort to protect the sensitive equipment inside from the incoming blast.

A moment later, the explosions reached the building.

A thought was all that saved her. With it, Chiasa willed her Mindy’s CFS to life, manifesting a defensive barrier around her form that shielded her from the shockwave of the blast, though its force still sent her flying through the air.

A ringing filled her ears in the moments after the explosion, but it quickly dissipated as Chiasa willed herself back to awareness, committing herself to the task of regaining her bearings, locating her allies, and beginning triage procedures.

"This is Wojtek.....*heavy breath* is anyone else *breath* still around." He tried so hard to keep his eyes open, but everything started to get fuzzy and he just wanted to sleep.

“I’m in one piece, Wojtek-Hei.” Chiasa answered. “Hoshi-Hei, I’m reading yellows, oranges, and a light red in your Mindy’s condition reports. Are you okay? What about you, Unknifto-Hei?”

Kiyo found herself stepping back at the sight of the two Kodians, then found herself swearing in shock at the explosions around her. She felt pleased when it came to an end and breathed a sigh of relief, but ready to move on, until it happened. A new, bigger explosion, that caused her to swear, but also activates her shields. This saved her body from injury, but did cause problems with her systems. With a yell she looked at the scene around her. In her mind, she heard another of her sisters. So did we piss off a Kami-sama or something? “Yoriko! be serious! Yayoi wouldn’t like you making jokes!” Kiyo couldn’t help but say out loud as she took in the scene. She also hadn’t realized she’d spoken out loud. She did need to admit, the area did look like it got pounded by a god of some kind. She wondered if this was done by the Resurgence.

Nitô Heisho, Zanven Brax was looking over his computer systems as he was about to come out of FTL travel to link back up with the YSS Resurgence. Since they docked after the last mission Zanven was in charge of seeing the mech and Nodachi being offloaded and put back into Yamatai storage. Everything went smoothly, but upon his promotion, he received an invitation for further training with his CIES system and Power Armor operation as well as mech usage. At first, he thought the army was just trying to repurpose him into an auxiliary position like an engineer, but after some thought, he knew that it was the better play and would allow him to have even more use on the ship than before. So he made sure to let Aoba know of his intentions before going off to the training course.

A time later he graduated from the advanced training and was given orders to get back to his post. He was given a T11 1A Tanuki to transport him back to the ship, but with additional cargo. His time spent saw to it that the Mnkan was trained in using the Ke-M12-E4217 Kirie/Keiko armor. The Resurgence was given 2 to add to its armory, and the pilot saw to it that he needed to get back to work as soon as possible in case something were to happen he could be of use…

Exiting FTL travel into the orbit of the planet he was bombarded with radio traffic. Things were not looking so hot as planetary comms seemed erratic and panicked…something was definitely wrong here, and after a little digging he was able to tell that it was centered around Gashmere City. With a sigh, he started to clear the air as he zoned in on the Resurgence comm channel as he broadcast his transponder to the bridge. “YSS Resurgence, Heisho Brax…reporting for duty. Hauling power armor, 2 Ke-M12-E4217 that are fresh and ready for action, but I hear there are issues planetside…requesting a flight path to assist the away team. How do you wish for me to proceed?” He asked as he was situated in between the planet and the Resurgence. The radio chatter was enough to cause panic but he was there now, he had enough skill to offer in a situation that needed someone like him…a Jack of Trades, this is something he was MADE for.

SSDD on the Res, the away team had already made contact with the enemy and came out worse for it. The Kodian insurgents appeared to have fallen back, but the ST Center was in ruins. As Hoshi gave an after-action over the comms, Vec searched around for a suitable CASEVAC site. He picked out a flat-roofed building about one hundred meters south of their current position. It looked defensible enough and more importantly wasn’t the exact site of their last engagement. “Eiukoshi, with me, we’re going to secure that location,” he said, pointing before zipping off on CFS. Over the team comms he said, “Regroup on me, Cassie, take anybody fighting fit to pull security.”

He popped his head over the lip of the roof. No contacts. Good. He climbed the rest of the way up and tracked his rifle over the rest of the skyline. “Resurgence Actual, this is Wilson, do you read me?” He said speaking in a practiced, professional tone, “Requesting immediate CASEVAC and resupply. Cords–” he checked his nav display and rattled off a string of numbers. “Flat white roof, with two large cooling units. Will deploy IR strobes when you're in ranger, Line two: two injured, one in need of replacement armor. Line three: X. Line four: Enemies present, but not currently engaged, Line five: HAZMAT gear still suggested, build up urban area. Line six: S, Seven: H.” After he concluded, he began a salute report, “We made contact with a squad of Kodian insurgents, they assaulted an ST Center, near CASEVAC coordinates, one hundred meters north. I repeat, Kodian insurgents, allegiance or unit unconfirmed, we just broke contact. No power armor, but they were armed with heavy personal weapons, small arms by Kodian standards, and an armored vehicle. How long until we can expect support? Aerial surveillance and fire support won’t hurt in the long run.”
Once that was concluded, he opened a private line to Lively, "Once we get reconstituted, where're we going from here?"

YSS Resurgence - Bridge

Aoba got on the radio, "Zanven, it's great to have you back," the captain responded. "We have medevac request on the surface for a wounded crew member, if you have room for the away team, go pick them up, and if not, you can land on Resurgence first. Beryl is also in the area with a shuttle and can also pick up team members, so coordinate with her."

Next Aoba relayed the events that had just happened to Fort Nozomi.

Zanven heard Aoba's orders and he was quick to answer back as he also hailed Beryl's Ke-T7. "Acknowledged, Resurgence I am going to land in the shuttle bay and suit up in one of the Keiko I brought back, please prepare the shuttle bay for offloading the armor, be advised that the Keiko's are being shipped with combat-ready hardpoints with a weapons package. Please have a Power Armor Technician in the bay to help with the loading of gear. Be advised that I am starting the autopilot systems and heading back to the armor and will show callsign "Solo" in approximately 2 minutes. Heisho Beryl, I will be in your care, and let's make this a quick ride." He said as he signed off and assigned the autopilot control to dock at the Resurgence.

He kept his spacesuit on and ready as he went to the first Keiko and switched it on, opening the pilot pod and climbing in. He connected his SPINE system and loaded up the THOUGHT software as he settled into the pod and input his I.D. and watched the pod close, the soft light of his shuttle was soon gone as the darkness enveloped him like the maw of a great beast. He then felt the tingle in his spine as the software and startup sequence initiated. He followed the on-screen prompts as a quick system check showed that everything was ready. The suit could be moved and operated as it was, but instead, Zanven stayed stationary as he felt the landing gear hit the solid hanger floor and the doors were opened. He saw the light of the hangar and he stood up slowly and walked out as the technicians moved and worked quickly to get Zanven combat-ready. It took a total of five minutes as he saw various notifications, confirming his systems were ready to go. When he was given a ceremonial two-knock on the armor to signify he was ready he moved to the Raccoon and got into the troop transport and then he waited by the door as it shut and they were ready to leave. His callsign was now showing as "Solo" and he pulled out the Ke-M2/12-W3903 Coherent Aether Rifle, they would not have much time before they were planetside. He then patched into the comms channel of the away team. "Ground team, be advised, Heisho Beryl and Nitô Heisho Zanven Brax, callsign "solo" will be entering your airspace in less than five, have you secured the LZ?" He asked as he readied himself for whatever may be happening...the last time he went out to help with the away team he was nearly fucking killed by machines...

Thad let out a sigh of relief that Sanda was alive enough to complain about what he called her. He was concerned he'd have to slap her back to life since she isn't allowed to die till he gets a hug from her. Thad reached up and rubbed the back of his helmet. It had been awhile since the last time he had lost a battle and boy did they lose this one badly. Beaten by care bears with sticks was not going to look well on Star Army. Oh how the mighty had fallen.

Thad after deciding Sanda was well enough he'd go and check on other crew. Mainly the signal of Cheilith which had blipped for a moment then vanished. His Mindy gave him an indication of her last known position prior to the signal going off. He assumed the worse knowing the suits of Star Army could take a serious beating. He made his way over to a mostly collapsed building. He moved a few large slabs of concrete and steel to uncover what looked to be a passed out Cheilith. Thad understood quickly the reason for the lacking signal as most of the armor had shattered away from her form. "Come on Cheilith, lets go find you some clothes." He leaned down, taking in the sight for just a moment before picking her up into a princess carry.

Thad made his way towards the team with his team mate in arm. "Found one, looks to be in good shape. Though could use some clothes." He called out. Thad had gotten the message of friendly inbound which was good to hear. It looked as if the enemy had run off but one could never be too sure. "Hear you loud and clear Solo, LZ is clear from what I can tell. Mindful of where you land, we have many building in bad shape which could collapse." Thad shared over comms with Zan

YE 45.1.1 - Later in the day

Gashmere City

Gabriela Lively checked the status of her team through her armor's AIES. Seeing all the injuries and damage, she made a decision to regroup on the ship because the team wasn't combat effective and the enemy had withdrawn into unknown terrain. "Away team, this is Lively, you are ordered to conduct a tactical withdraw from the engagement area. Once the wounded are loaded onto evacuation shuttles, you can either ride the shuttle with them or teleport back to the Resurgence," she said.

Sanda's fists tightened in anger. She didn't want to withdraw, she wanted to get some paypack. But her suit was failing more by the minute and she wouldn't last long without a working suit. She quickly recovered her lost weapons, what was left of some of them and moved to the LZ.

Zanven heard Thad come in over the comma as he put him through on the comms for Beryl. "Looks like the LZ is clear and judging from the chatter...we are withdrawing for now. Beryl if you could get us close to the first LZ, I will help bring the wounded on board and provide cover fire." He said as he tapped the wall and moved back to the door to get in position.

Kiyo heard the order, and turned her head to Sanda, and moved towards her to assist if she needed it. She was certain that Yayoi might be angered if she didn't at least try and be a good teammate and watch her back. When she was able to move she followed her.

Nanook faded in and out of consciousness. His armors trauma systems could only compensate for so much.

Poppy stood over Nanook, injecting him with a quantity of hemosynth-based healing nanites that were configured for him. That is to say, for Kodians with cybernetics. The red liquid would help supplement his blood levels and speed up the healing as well as block leaks where the blood was coming out of the body. To help, she kept pressure on his arm socket area while the stuff got to work. It was not a cure but it would help keep him hanging on.

As the shuttle's approached, Vec activated an IR strobe to guide them in. "Keep the LZ clear, and get our wounded stationed over here," he ordered as he checked the sky. While he waited, he signaled ahead to the Resurgence ordering the MEGAMI to begin cloning an arm for Nanook. He'd be able to trim it and mount it in no time at all

Cheilith lay limply in Thad's arms, her right arm was twisted into a bad break, but still clung onto her iconic greatsword. She roused slightly as Vec signaled the shuttle in.

Sanda stumbled as she moved towards the LZ. Luckly, Kiyo was there to catch her. The Ranger was just feeling numb right now with as adrenaline began to wear off and the weight of their failure began to sink in.

Kiyo moved quick when she saw her stumble, and it didnt stop her from helping her up. "i got you," she said to her unsure if either of their comms were working as she tried to help Sanda get back to where they needed to go.

Nanook looked at the blurry form standing over him, trying to mend his wounds. "Do yew....still waannna get mar-ried", he slurred. Slightly oblivous and mistaking Poppy for Chiasa.

Beryl's Ke-T7 shuttle gently came down in front of Vec and the cadet blue-gray armored rear door ramp came open with a hydraulic whine, revealing rows of red seats in the passenger area along with the armors Zanven brought.

"All aboard," Vec called, "Make a hole near the entrance for the wounded." He said, gesturing crew on board.

Gabriela and Euikoshi helped Poppy get an anti-gravity gurney out of the shuttle, after counting down from three, rolled him to one side to get it under his large, furry body. They used it to carefully load the patient into the back of the shuttle, securing him in the center area where there was room.

Zanven walked out onto the ramp, the armor had a newer shine to it as he scanned the horizon, keeping his gun trained outside the LZ. He saw the wounded, he saw the state the away team was in and he felt bad...but he didn't think anything less of himself as he knew he left for training to be a valued member of the crew...this was just...unusual to see. When he heard the all aboard and for a hole to be made Zanven was fairly sure there was only a few on board to begin with and they all moved in single file and spread out to help at the end of the ramp.

Sanda made her way into the shuttle and sat down she secured her suit and weapons to the shuttle and then removed her helmet. Her hair was a mess. The tight pony tail she started the mission with was barely helded together. Blood was trickling down her face opposite her lighting tattoo but she just ignored it until it ran into her right eye causing her to blink several times. She wiped at her eye, smearing the blood across her face and making her eyes water some.

Kiyo gasped as she saw Sanda's injuries but she didnt think she should ask if she was in pain, instead she grabbed a medkit thinking she'd try and help but she hoped a medic was available to do so.

"Did anyone grab the arm?" Euikoshi asked the others.

Once Nanook was secured in place, Vec went to check over his wounds. The man's arm was almost entirely gone, just a bloody mass of lacerated flesh and splintered bone. "Don't worry, got a new clone queued up," he said, answering his battle buddy, "And I doubt there's much left of it." He began to use his plasma projector on its finest setting to cut away damaged bits of armor.

"Head count," Gabriela ordered. "Is everyone present and accounted for? Sound off," she ordered.

"Euikoshi!"

"Pink," the medic replied, going over to check on Sanda. She grabed a wad of gauze and handed it to Sanda to hold on the wound.

Sanda snapped out of her daze and said, "Thunder here." She didn't argue with Poppy when she handed her the gauze. She just had no fight left in her.

"NOOKIE WOOKIE HERE" Nanook laughed as some of the painkillers left him in a drug induced high.

"Wilson here, five fingers five toes," Vec said without looking up from his grim task. "Hope those painkillers work, kid," he said before using the beam to cauterize the open wound. He removed the Kodian's helmet and strapped an O2 mask over his face. He grumbled to himself, he'd need a set of clippers if he wanted to stick on an adhesive biomonitor. Instad he patched into his patient's AIES. The readings wouldn't be quite as accurate, but he'd know if the kid started coding.

"Unknifto's Alive. unpleasently so." Cheilith wheezed it was getting abit more painful to breathe, probably several broken ribs.

"Silverlight here" Kiyo replied as she took note of Sanda's reaction, then glanced to Nanook and blinked.

Zanven continued to scan the wreckage that was left behind as crews were beginning to work through. The crew was sounding off and after everyone was accounted for Zanven spoke up. "Solo here, looks like we're ready to move...ramps coming up."

After making sure everyone on the away team had made it onto the shuttle, Gabriela removed her helmet, went to the cockpit though one of the hatches and poked her head in. "Take us home to the Resurgence," she told Beryl, who closed the rear hatch and then got airborne. The shuttle vibrated and tugged the Star Army soldiers around as it shot into the sky.

Gashmere
Fort Nozomi

The gopher drones had been dropped into the soft sand of the western sea days before. Slowly digging their way through the slate and bedrock of the continent towards their final objective. Twelve of them, all packed with nearly a ton of explosives. Normally, they had a very routine, constructive purpose, building city caverns. This day however, a more nefarious purpose awaited them.

The target coordinates appeared on their internal navigation computers. Two hundred Meters. It took nearly six more hours, but they finally converged. As one, they all exploded, five meters under the front gate defense tower of Fort Nozomi.

YSS Resurgence - Shuttle Bay

The shuttle slid into the bay on the Resurgence's bottom deck, coming to rest on the shiny black floor. The rear door whined as it opened to reveal the ship's crowded shuttlebay where the rows of small craft were parked. Julia Brisk, the caretaker, and Miriam Norita, the armorer, were there waiting to help people out of their power armor suits.

Kiyo was silent as she began removing her armor, not caring for the temperature on her skin and ignoring it as she removed her helmet and climbed out of her Mindy. She removed her sheathed Katana and held onto it close to herself.

Zanven disembarked and stepped down and out into the shuttle bay. He looked at Miriam Norita and gave a nod as he exited the bay and made his way to the power armor bay. There was enough of the crew there to help the others and since this was a detour for him in the first place...nobody stopped him as he went to jump out of his armor. He arrived to the bay next to the identical armor set he brought and the skeleton crew began to take weapons off of the armor and strip it down. Once it was done, he hopped out and stretched as he felt a little bit disoriented for a moment. After a few seconds of breathing he was back to normal before he walked out of the power armor bay and begin to head back to his room.

Poppy, Eukoshi, and Gabriela pushed Nanook to the cargo elevator and waited for Cheilith and Sanda to come along and join them for the ride up to the medical lab's deck.

Cheilith was walking at this point, painfully limping onto the Cargo Elevator, holding her arm that still refused to let go of the massive sword. She stood there looking a bit dazed.

Sanda removed her damaged Mindy and followed the medics towards the Med bay.

Kiyo looked at her Mindy and knew it would be a tough job for her to fix it. She might need to request new parts for it.

Gashmere Broadcast System
Gashmere and near Orbit

The broadcast was patched into every public and open comms system on the planet.

The camera Focused in on a late middle aged Kodian. He was heavily muscled, his black fur covered face and muzzle crisscrossed with scars. He wore a set of heavy Kodian Power armor with no helmet. "Last night, another tragedy befell Gashmere city. While heroic Kodian first responders attempted to save and preserve life, the unwelcome belligerence of the Yamatai Empire reared its tyrannical head by launching an attack on, and ultimately destroying, the Gashmere ST Center. A group of true Kodians rallied and rushed to the site in an attempt to repel the attackers. Colonel Bjorn Thundershield, a tried and true hero of Gashmere led them. En route to the site, treacherous attackers struck at these valiant rescuers from the sewers and set booby traps to delay them.” Footage of Kodians in power armor having limbs blown off from the opening to storm drains and sewers plays. A car explodes near another Kodian, his body vaporizes in an instant. “Here is footage we were able to recover from Colonel Thundershields armor, be warned however, it is graphic in nature."

The camera cuts to the video feed of a one armed Nanook seeking cover, Chiasa firing her weapon, in the direction of the camera. Sanda and Thad arrive, slaughtering more Kodians. The close-in battle with Sanda, the orbital strike hitting the armored car in the ST Center Wall. The explosions of Thads grenades strobed wildly. The camera pans to the ground as it looks at the closed heat port on an Ursus Assault Cannon. Sanda is standing in full view of the camera. Then a bright flash. The screen goes black. The original speaker appears back on screen.

"Colonel Thundershield and his men will forever be remembered as valiant defenders of Gashmere and its people. Despite being outnumbered and outgunned, they marched proudly to defend the already beaten men, women and cubs of Gashmere City. When it became apparent that it would be a losing battle, Colonel Thundershield ordered his remaining soldiers to retreat into the city's tunnels and bade them to Protect Our Cubs. There he stood, defiantly as he gave his very life in our defense against these alien enforcers. Despite being heavily outnumbered and wounded, it was not until naval fire from orbit struck him, that the enemy was able to extinguish his life.

The screen cuts to a hospital scene, a Kodian childrens hospital ward. Kodian cubs of all different sizes and colors are being treated. “These cubs, none of them will see their families again. They lost any chance of that when the Star Army destroyed the ST building. This is the insidious evil that is the Yamatai Empire. Raise up against the occupation. Open your eyes to the truth. Sharpen your claws and hone your teeth. Even now more ships are arriving in Orbit. The Yamatais 7th Fleet, Izanagi Dreadnaughts, battleships, cruisers, escorts. We know why they have come. They mean to ground us into dust as they have so many others. We must throw these evil creatures from our planet. For our cubs, for our future. Gashmere forever." Tears rolled down the Kodians face as he intoned the last two sentences.

Med bay

Sanda followed the other injured crew into the Med bay. She was covered with minor cuts and bruises but nothing serious. Nothing compared to Nanook and Cheilith though. Sanda sat down on one of the operating tables and waited for one of the docs to patch her up. She leaned forward and placed her elbows on her knees, head held in her hands. This had been a blow.

As she tried to wrap her head around what had happened, someone stuck their head in the med bay and said, "Are you guys seeing this?" A screen appeared in the surgery. "footage we were able to recover from Colonel Thundershields armor, be warned however, it is graphic in nature." Sanda glanced up to see herself on the display. "¡Qué carajo!" She exclaimed as she jumped off the table. The fight continued before her, as she watched herself fight against the Kodian. The the screen went blank when the building blew up. As the speaker began to fill in details, Sanda's hands balled into fists.

The lighting tattooed Nepleslian could be very hot headed sometimes. Years of training and discipline in the Star Army had taught her how to keep a cool head. But right now in her weakened state she didn't care. She didn't care if it was hot headed or if it would ruin the career she had worked so hard on. She was going to get a new Mindy suit, track that signal to its source and and get her a bear skin rug for her room. Sanda stormed out of the Med Bay almost running over Zanven. "¡Fuera de mi camino!" She swore.

Power Armor Bay

Sanda made it all the way to the armory and was looking for a Mindy that would fit her when she suddenly gasped in pain and went down on one knee. Her breath came in quick ragged breaths. "No no no. No ahora." She reached into her pocket and took out a small medical container and popped a pill under her tongue. She had had a dangerous dose of radiation during her last mission and recovery had been slower than she would have liked. Every now and then her body would go into almost a seizer and she wouldn't be able to breath. She hadn't had an episode for several weeks and thought she was finally over it. Perhaps the stress and the shock of what happened planet side had been too much for her body. Tears ran down Sanda's face but she didn't cry out or make any other sound as she crawled over to a wall and just leaned against it.

Kiyo had seen the news as a few others had, and she was surprised. She expected it from Kuvexians but Kodians she did not, but she had heard they were in a civil war and hoped that that could soon be stopped. The negative thoughts weighted in on her as she went to the Power Armor Bay.

Power Armor Bay
Time saw Kiyo at her Mindy Bay, tools in hand as she worked on her Mindy, ever since she’d left the Kaiyo 2 she’d gained Armorer certificates so that people would stop hassling her about working on her Mindy. She thought if she maintened it, she knew it worked and she hadn't quite trusted others to work on it instead of her. Sanda’s presence was noticed and Kiyo was about to go back to her work when she noticed her behavior. They would pause maintenance as she flew over towards her and landed beside her. Kiyo gently placed a comforting hand on her shoulder, unsure of what to do or say. She wasn’t sure Sanda was ready to talk so she waited untill Sanda was ready, and as she saw the tears, she grabbed a napkin to clean her tears with.

Power Armor Bay

"I had a feeling you might try something worthy of Thad." Koyama's voice echoed from around the racks of power armor. Her arms crossed under her chest once she had Sanda in her sight. There was sympathy etched into her look as she saw Kiyo produce something for Sanda to dry her eyes. The other Neko sent the blue-skinned girl an image of her turning around. Not to leave but to allow her friend time to dry her eyes with none watching but to also shield her from view. While she'd had two witnesses to the act, the very least they could do was stop others from seeing. Perhaps preserve a bit of dignity.

"Had to come and make sure you didn't tank your career like a certain someone." remarking with a tilt of her head. One of those black-furred ears tried to swivel back in the ranger's direction. "Let it out, Sanda. Speak to me - to us." Koyama at that moment would've suffered drinking the abomination called alcohol if it would've helped her friend. Thought better of it and instead kept it to herself.

Zanven had finished writing his report to Aoba before he went over to the small statuette sparrow that he had traded for over a month ago with his bunkmate...which he was surprised to find was not there at the time. They were not planetside so he hoped they would be alright as he began to debate on what to do, but did not wait too long before he decided he was going to head to the simulation room to get some infantry training in, because he did not know when the next time he would be called to go on the away team...or if he would. Without a ship to pilot besides shuttles, he needed to be valuable as a jack of all trades, hence why he went out for training so many times. He passed by the Power Armor bay and saw that there were a few people inside, and he debated on whether or not to go in...his hesitation put him barely in the eyesight of anyone that might be looking at the door before he realized there was more to do. Some of the personnel on the Resurgence had some trauma and issues to work through and he was just...there.

Power Armor Bay

Sanda silently took the napkin and wiped her eyes. The medicine was starting to take effect as she felt the pain receding and her breathing became easier. She allowed Kiyo to help her back to her feet. She snorted and ruefully responded to Koyama. "If you're joking that's cruel. But if you're being sarcastic that's even worse." She took a deep breath, relived to be able to breath deeply again without pain. "I don't think any of us were prepared for what was going on on the planet. It took us all by surprise. Someone down there is playing games with us and I don't like being played with."

Sanda was glad to be able to talk to Koyama. It was an strange friendship. Koyama, the short XO who was also a Senator and a princess. Sanda was a rough Nep Ranger with tattoos all over her body. But there was a mutual respect for each other and even a friendship. It felt good to vent a little bit to her. "Starting off with the order to detain Inmochi and the Del's insubordination. Hardly the way you want to start things off after returning from the holiday leave." She was sure it was some dumb misunderstanding with the Mochi but Del's cowardice made Sanda furious. "I don't understand Del at all. She's suppose to be a Giretsu for heavens sake. She's disgraced all who wear the cherry blossom." Sanda said bitterly. Her anger rising again. "Then the whole situation on Gashmere..." She stopped, fighting to get her emotions back under control. She didn't want to have another episode. "I should probably get back to the Med bay." She managed weakly.

Power Armor Bay
Kiyo looked up as Koyama spoke to the two of them and blinked her eyes. For a second she hadn’t remembered who Thad was. Unfortunately, he hadn’t introduced himself to her, but she had seen him. She wondered if the joking man was Thad. She’d also remembered Yayoi’s messages. “Oh, Ma’am, I don’t think that would be a funny joke. Big sis Yayoi told me about him, and Sanda here would never act like he would.” She said as she soon received the imagery which caused her to turn her face as she processed it.

Clearly Sanda felt the same way she had about Koyama’s joke. “Sanda-Sempai is correct, though, we weren’t prepared for that mission, neither for the… incident that happened before that.” Kiyo commented before she turned her attention back to Sanda”if you’d like company I can come with, my maintenance for my Mindy can be placed on pause. I can see what I can do for yours though, if you’d like. Kiyo gave a calm impression to the two, like the mission hadn’t bothered her despite her words. Who knows how she coped with things. Because her attention was on Koyama and Sanda, she hadnt noticed Zan yet.

Power Armor Bay

Koyama remained silent, back still turned only finally turning her head slightly to give Sanda a glance over her shoulder. Some of what she spoke of with such emotion someone in her position could sympathize with. A betrayal within the Samurai had shocked her to the core. The resulting consequences had felt like someone reaching into her chest to give her heart a fatal squeeze. Even as the years passed that wound had yet to close and it took all she had to not spit venom on the subject of Del, the Giretsu and all the rest.

"Just because you wear a badge, went through a special school. It does not change the fact we are still imperfect beings prone to sentimentality and emotion allowing it to cloud our judgment. People are people and will make poor choices.

Delmira, I will have to talk to the Taisa regarding what will happen to her." her words were cool. "As for Mochi, there is no way I could countermand, appeal, or even put forth a shadow of an argument against the Mistress of Ships nor Her Majesty's order and decree."

She punctuated it with a small puff of air causing a few loose strands of her bangs to flutter. "Come on, let's get you back to the med bay. Before Poppy decides to hunt you down."

"After you're cleared we'll get something to drink."

After a moment of biting her lip, she continued, "Both of you. So serious about what I said about Thad." Rolling her eyes a bit as she spoke while placing an arm around Sanda's shoulder giving her a little shake. "If you think my joking is cruel. I'll spare you the puns."

Power Armor Bay

Sanda sniffed at Koyama's statement of people being imperfect. She wasn't feeling very charitable after what had happened but didn't push the subject. She did mange a smiled when getting a drink was mentioned. "Now that sounds like a wonderful idea. I could really go with a good stiff drink."

Sanda nodded her thanks when Koyama placed a hand on her shoulder. She even chuckled a little bit at her mention of puns. "Whatever you say." She nodded to Kiyo when she mentioned fixing her Mindy. "If you don't mind. I'm sure Norita would appreciate the help and we need to get our suits back up and working asap for whatever is in store for us next.

Sanda allowed Koyama to help her to the Med bay. Along the way she saw Zanven. "Welcome back 'Solo'." The Ranger frowned momentarily when she noticed the red chevron on his sleeve but was able to manage a smile and sincerely say. "Congrats on your promotion."

YSS Resurgence - Bridge

"Gabriela Lively, please report to the bridge, Gabriela Lively, to the bridge," Aoba called on the ship's intercom.

Gabriela arrived shortly afterward and reported to captain Aoba. "Sir," she greeted him. There was still Kodian blood on her uniform from helping Nanook to the medical lab.

"I know this was your first time leading an away team and I hope it will be a learning experience," the captain said. "It was not easy. I want you to know I don't place any blame on you for how it went. Some times it's possible to do everything the right way and still fail. But am confident the Star Army will prevail in the end."

"Yes sir," Gabriela said. "Permission to speak freely, sir?"

"Another time, another place," Aoba told her. "Report to your station and set a course for the Kepler's Find system in sector grid 1815. It's time for a little tourism."

Gabriela nodded and made her way to her station on the bridge. She began to input the coordinates for the Kepler's Find system into the ship's navigation system. As she worked, she reflected on the mission she had just led and the mistakes she had made. She had underestimated the strength of the enemy and paid the price. But she was determined to learn from it and come back stronger. She waited for the word from the captain to get the ship going.

"Execute fold, Aoba ordered.

Medical Lab

There was a constant "boop" sound to the tune of Nanook's heartbeart as the Kodian laid on the surgical table. Poppy checked on him one more time. Sanda had left but then came back to the medical lab, so Poppy went over to help her before she injured herself further. She could tell just by looking at Sanda the woman had broken multiple bones and had been through hell. She carefully helped Koyama set Sanda down on an exam table and offered Sanda some painkillers and begin setting up an IV.

The walls around them shimmered in teal as the ship jumped into hyperspace, moving away from the war-torn Gashmere.

"It looks like we got played," Poppy replied to Sanda, in reference to the so-called news broadcast. "I don't like it at all."

Hangar Bay

The ramp and door of the T-11 opened, and a silver-haired giant ducked reflexively as she disembarked. "Mineko-hei! We must go report! There is time for stashing dufflebags later!" Emiko's accent when speaking Trade was somewhat unusual, but not very heavy– her native tongues were Nepleslian languages other than Trade, Lianjia and Mutari speech, both of which she spoke, as with Trade, with a Sardinian-Mutari accent. It wasn't never-before-heard in Yamatai, but it wasn't a common thing, and typically marked one as a Red Nepleslian from Fujiko or Rufusland or some-such-where, which in this case, was absolutely correct.

Rising to her more-than-two-meter height as she straightened up when clear of the shuttle, Emiko shouldered her bag. "I could carry you?" She didn't wait for Mineko to answer, and sent a wireless thank-you to Zanven's comms. "MEGAMI, Frejyasdóttir-Shōi Reporting, where are the Captain and First Officer?"

Med Bay

Sanda lay on the bed in the med bay as Poppy hooked up the IV and began to fix her up. Laying on the bed without anything on except an operating sheet, Sanda's tattoo's were completely exposed. The Nepleslian woman had a beautiful and exquisite tattoo across her whole body. It started at the base of her neck and split over each shoulder and down her arms ending at her wrists. The color was an electrifying blue and white. When she moved, the colors flashed and looked as if electricity was actually running through her body. From her neck the lighting bolt shot down her spine where it split around the small of her back to wrap around her hips before running down her legs ending at her ankles.

However the color of her tattoo didn't look very vibrant at the moment. In fact, many places looked down right dull. It was pretty good reflections of her own mood at the moment. Sanda opened her eyes and nodded grimly at Poppy. "That makes two of us. Feels like we were called in just to be the scapegoats." Sanda closed her eyes again as Poppy reset a rib. "I've got half a mind to request to remain at Geremere. The ship's honor has been stained and someone needs to do something about it."

"Mejórate pronto." Koyama managed as she helped Poppy with Sanda, the dialect mangled with her Yamataian accent. It was enough to bring a little color to her milky white cheeks at the attempt. She'd been trying to practice it versus simply downloading her friend's language. A little cough followed as she turned to hide her shame.

"I need to get back to the bridge. We've just executed a Fold, no doubt the Taisa's moving forward to the next site." Only then did she look over her shoulder. Instead of saying a word, Koyama sent what she'd seen of Sanda to the nurse. Popping a pain med in the power armor bay. Her posture, manner, and expression.

<'Keep an eye on her for now. Sanda is strong, but she is only human.'> the wireless message and imagery being sent directly to Poppy.

"Once you're done fussing over Sanda, Kiyo?" She said the name, the girl was new and wanted to get it right. "See to her armor if you would."

Bridge

Koyama returned to the bridge, the brilliant colors of the fold blossomed in her mind as she connected to the MEGAMI, and consequently the Resurgence's external sensors.

"Taisa," His first officer greeted as she took to standing at his side. "Wotjek-hei's on the surgery table, from what I could see his heartbeat is stable. I tracked our Ranger down, and she's back under Poppy's care."

Someone asked after the command staff's location. The MEGAMI informed her of their location. The XO'd intended to take her station yet the ship's MEGAMI asking after her to see to them.

"Duty Calls," With a bow to him mentioning briefly the new arrivals.

Hangar Bay

The aforementioned First Officer, clad in the latest iteration of the Star Army's bodysuit uniform, white paneled, her rank seeming engrained into the fabric just above a breast. The way the Nekovalkyrja moved while taking her surroundings in was akin to declaring she was the master of all she surveyed.

Her look was one of smoldering intensity once she found the new members of the Resurgence's crew. Of them all, she was the shortest once she'd come within spitting distance.

"Welcome Aboard," her voice skirted the edge of deep while remaining feminine. "I am Shosa Koyama, First Officer of the YSS Resurgence." Going so far as to offer the slightest of bows considering the gap between their stations but still enough as a gesture of respect.
