Errowyn took a sip of her drink o fruit juice, then answered. "It leads to anticipation so that the crew focuses on the Commanding Officer when he gives his brief. Beside, being on ship other than a CVN ... Carrier. Means we'll probably be doing a lot of air support for the Infantry. Recon where it is more economical to use smaller auxiliary crafts such as ours, since our fighters have the better sensors package than the shuttles."

Errowyn was curious herself but knowing that loose lips got ships sunk. In this cased turned into more space junk that would be a hazard to space flight. "Operational Security to prevent whomever we are at war with or soon to be, from learning what we are up to."

Out of habit and being in new territory, her eyes darted over the assembling crew and returning to Nichols as she spoke.

Sebastian remained where she was, looking around at the others as they all gathered and got into their own little cliques. She didn't mind. She was not one to really socialize anyway. The dark-skinned Nepleslian just observed who was doing what, whether it was drinking tea vs. coffee or eating vs. not eating. She didn't have anything herself, mostly because she was still not quite used to this type of society. She was raised very differently, so getting something to eat or drink when it wasn't quite time to do so went against her core. She was content to just watch, glad she thought to wear both gloves...just in case.

Kioko smiled and sat at the seats that Henry pointed out "Here isss fine" she looked around noticing the dark-skinned Nepleslian watching the crew like she did before. She made a note to talk to them later just to see if they had anything in common, she turned back to Henry "Well Ume and Meiko, who are on this ship are two friends I made on my hold placement, I wasn't on there for that long though, the Saints wanted me to come on to this ship as I wasn't really stationed on the one I was on before, the ship I was serving on blow up, I was the only survivor and the ship that Ume and Meiko were on rescued me and I started to work with them."

"If you please excuse me shoi," Sigrid bowed to Anjin and moved away, holding her cup of tea. She looked around the group earlier, while folks were talking and noticed a fairly lonely soldier. Well a technician, judging by a colour. The dark-coloured lady sat alone on the table, while other started socialising. Since Sigrid, did not really know anyone on the board, she though she might as well come up for the chat.

"Hello," The midnight colour skinned neko said to the chocolate lady as she sat across the table from her. "You seem awfully lonely."

Hearing someone speak, she looked up and studied the Neko that approached. The other one's skin was even darker than hers, which was odd enough. Shaking her head, Sebastian said softly, "Not lonely. Just alone. Observing." Her accent was hard to define, since she kept the words short. She wasn't abrupt, though, for she didn't want to offend. Nodding towards one of the empty seats, Sebastian asked, "Join?"

Anjin had watched Sigrid walk away but kept an eye on where she went. She noticed who she chose to speak to and checked the crew roster. 'The Personnel Department certain has chosen to give the CO a mixed bag of tricks. The question was why? Did the mission really need this diverse a group? For that matter what was their mission.' she pondered.

She downed the last of her tea and watched and waited for the CO to put in an appearance.

"Gladly," Sigrid replid to the other woman. She looked around at the various crewmembers that awaited the captain's speech. It was truly a pretty diverse group. Pilots, an infantry member (Sigrid finally felt less lonely) and she could have seen at least two SAINT agents. SAINT was always bad news, but Sig decided to wait and see what these would be up to.

"Well, we get a lot of pilots it seems," Sigrid raised an eyebrow. "They will probably keep you folk in engineering busy. Oh by the way, I am Kongo Sigrid, pleased to meet you."

Sebastian studied the Neko for a moment, though her own gaze was also on the others. She nodded slowly and shrugged a little, "Most likely." That was her response to Sigrid's observation on the pilots. She inclined her head and debated for a moment before introducing herself in the Nepleslian fashion, "Sebastian Wells."

Sebastian waited to see how this one would react to her name. Most were stunned that she had a male sounding name. Others were offended, though sadly not on her behalf. Still, Sebastian was used to it. What determined if she would open up more to another wasn't if the other accepted her name or not, but if they tried to either shorten it or tease her about it. Those two things were unacceptable to her.

Doc Holliday nodded in gratitude to Kakeru before picking up the coffee. He hadn't expected much out of it, but he still appreciated the drink. He took a sip occasionally while Kioko regaled him with the details of her previous placement. He placed the beverage in his hand on the table after hearing about its fate. He looked her right in the eyes with a serious and somber expression, as opposed to his usual sly grin. "Madame, I apologize if my question offended you or brought back unfortunate memories. You have my condolences for the loss of any friends on that ship." Henry stated clearly, holding Kioko's gaze for a few moments before returning to his drink. "I was fairly distant from the other recruits during my basic training. They made the mistake of playing cards with yours truly, you understand. Svein, however-" The dentist inclined his head towards the Nepsleslian refugee in question. "-Was assigned as my wingman while we were training. Sadly, he's far too serious for it to be healthy, so we naturally became the best of friends." The self-proclaimed poker prodigy leaned back against his seat with his hands behind his head. "So then, Ume and Meiko, eh? Point them out and tell me about them, companion."

Once she had found a comfortable spot on the table, Noa then got a little bit distracted by all of the crewmembers that had begun chatting each other up in earnest, as she was checking to see how much she could access of their personnel files from the shipboard MEGAMI -- quite an interesting bunch of characters that the Ryujo had attracted, indeed. She was also telepathically updating her status on her social media page, when her augmented reality overlay was swamped by the image of a big, warm mug of green tea plopped in front of her.

The Mini-Neko then stood up to her full 8" height (which was only about twice as big as the beverage) and looked across the steamy top at Kakeru rather surprised. "Oh uh, arigatou, Shinozaki-kun," she responded, "Though they don't usually make these automatic beverage dispensers do things in my size... but not to worry!" She then reached over for one of the wrapped up generic straws and gave it a good karate chop right in the middle. A tiny *THWACK* followed as it neatly broke into two, and she inserted one half down into the tea and sipped it slowly and testingly while discarding the other one onto the table. "Not bad, not bad. Needs some honey, though."

The green-haired little lady then leaned on the rim of the mug lazily with a small smile to her partner when he asked about her job here. "I've been training ever since I was created to be a top Information Technology and Warfare agent. I can fix a computer system just as easily as I can break it. When you're dealing with such sensitive things, one's size is meaningless..." She didn't finish the sentence exactly, but her intention was quite clear that he shouldn't judge her by her cover so to speak. Noa then pointed to the medic patch on her red-paneled uniform sleeve that was a little hard to see but very real. "But unlike my sisters, I've got some serious medical skills, too. Why, I can patch up a full-size Nekovalkyrja just as easily as I can patch a quantum data cable!"

Sigrid nodded at Sebastion and sit back on the bench. There was no reaction to the name, especially since Sigrid did not have that much knowledge about nepleslian naming. Also because it happened in Yamatai, that female had male name as well. To Sigrid it would not matter either way.

"You are not much of a talker, are you?" Sigrid asked with a smile as she sipped her black tea.

There was a momentary pause after Errowyn had sated the curiosity Nichols had, the Nepleslian pilot had fallen into silence as he processed what had been explained to him. There'd been enough questions about the mission no-one knew of and speculation as far as he was concerned, but with a third pilot with senior ranking on the ship it was very likely Errowyn would end up being the flight lead. "Undoubtedly you'll be leading when ever they ask for anything like what you just said." He didn't seem to hold any foul nature about his prediction, but perhaps enthused instead given the grin he held on his expression as he began to slouch in his seat. "Got any style of flight you go by?"

Sebastian glanced over at Sigrid and shrugged a little. She couldn't sit back and relax like the others, it went against her own training. This was important. One had to be vigilant at all times. But, given how everyone else was getting to know each other as they waited for the captain, Sebastian figured it couldn't hurt to speak more. "Not used to...this." She waved her hand around to indicate the whole Mess Hall.

Errowyn eyes narrowed slightly, yet noticeable. "I'm a very aggressive in my fighter against enemy ships and fly erratically to avoid being hit." She paused a bit to take a sip of her drink. "Since you are probably more comfortable and used to being with Holliday. If we ever get separated in combat. I want you to team up with him immediately. Or I'll shoot you out of the sky myself. I am a lousy babysitter. Do your job and I'll be happy. Maintain your Kawarime the best you can as it'll take care of you."

Pausing once more to take another drink and look around the room. Giving herself time to think. "I'll do my best to bring you back to the ship along with your partner, Holliday. Use the ammunition payloads you're comfortable with, not what everyone expects you to carry, with the exception of mission specific ordinance. You'll learn what works for you effectively as you gain more experience."

Errowyn was secretly terrified of what the future held for her as she would be in-charge of the two pilots. She had no experience in being a leader. Just another gun in the arsenal of the squadron and carrier. Only thing going for her at this time was her skill and experiences. Good fortune had smiled upon her.

"Use the standard 'V' formation, and or inline, for now till something better comes up." Errowyn spoke in her usual calm manner as before with no outward sign of being terrified at being responsible for two lives under her fledging command.

"Ah you will get used to it," Sigrid shrugged, though she herself was still unsure about herself fitting in. In her past service on ship it was a lot different. Everything was handled differently and atmosphere was more stiff. Plus back then her own ship was crewed pretty much only by nekovalkyrja, but here there were nepleslians, snake people and who knew what else. Also men. Even the captain was man. When Sigrid left her old ship slot and moved to Legions there were once again minimum men around, legionaries were mostly nekovalkyrja as well. It was not that Sigrid was shy, she was just not used to being around men.

"You should have seen the legions." Sigrid added, smiling at Sebastian. "When we were on base, there was constant jibber jabber. Everyone just kept talking about anything."

Mess Hall

Sebastian was the complete opposite of Sigrid. She was more used to men and how men thought. Discipline was discipline, but when men were able to 'let loose' it was much different from women. She wasn't too sure about all of the mixed races, but it really wasn't that different from home. Her father dealt with many types of people, rich or poor, Nepleslian or not. Leaning back, she studied Sigrid and the easy smile the woman gave her, though she had yet to smile in return. However, Sebastian was starting to feel more at ease with her, in spite of it all. Maybe because, even though Sigrid was female, the way of interacting with others was more like a man...or maybe both men and women can be similar in spite of all their differences.

Either way, Sebastian perked up an eyebrow and asked, "Legions? I remember hearing about those in training, but what exactly are they?" She didn't care that they could jibber jabber like a bunch of hens. She was just interested in the group itself.

YSS Ryujo Mess Hall Deck 3

"Ah-cho!!..pff..."

"Sorry sempai, something tickled my nose just now." Kakeru said as he stifled the incipient sneeze that was forming with his hand. Noa sempai's enthusiastic aggressiveness and small size gave him an impression of an animal he once came across. Think they called it a... chi-wa-wa? He smiled behind the cover of his hand as he thought of how she would have reacted if he had told her that. Chances are high that like a chi-wa-wa, she would have her teeth around his ankles in under 5 seconds.

"They'll probably have me as a front scout for the Ryujo. Before folding into a new system or making planetfall, they'll probably send me or that lady with blue scales in first to take a look and check if it is safe to continue. Beyond that, we probably won't have much to do."

Taking a sip of green tea from the mug, he raised an eyebrow at the unexpected fragrant delicate taste that he did not expect from shipboard food. Either the Ryujo was very well stocked or it was still drawing provisions from the base itself.

"Wonder what's keeping the Chu-sa?" he thought out loud. His impression of the Chu-sa was that of a solid, steady person not prone to making grand entrances. He must have been held up somewhere.

The sneeze made her look towards the source of the sound. Looking around at the assembled crew more closely. Taking a more in-depth study of the crew. Errowyn sipped at her drink of fruit juice. She was getting a bit antsy as the time for the CO's first meeting with the crew had slipped by. She had better things to do. Like take care of her Kawarime, unpack and settled in her quarters. Then work up a training schedule and battle drills like the one she suffered through when she was aboard the Heitan. Not to mention her shipboard duties.

Errowyn, even a bit distracted was still paying attention to Nichols sitting across from her. "What formations have you been taught, other than the standard two I've mentioned." Glancing back at him since she couldn't find the source of the sneeze.

Messhall

Nichols listened in stillness as Errowyn promptly laid down the law in a direct fashion. The rules themselves made enough sense the rookie pilot wouldn't dare question her but rather give her praise if anything beyond his response of "Yes Ma'am." was necessary. The rookie pilot would've liked to ask about particular tactics Errowyn could share that could've kept him from making a dumb mistake like get into a turn-fight with something that could turn on a dime. Yet when the question of formations came up, Nichols seemed a little disheartened when he slouched in his seat again. "Echelon, Line astern and abreast, T formation, Boomerang, Wedge, Vulcan, Delta, Twin and Eagle. Doc and I had a lot of training with what would've been a big squadron if the two of us wouldn't have been detached for the Ryujo."

Errowyn paid attention to Nichols as he spoke. She knew of them from the indoctrination while she was in the later stages of development, but never had the chance to fly them with others. It seamed all she had was Review, Testing, and shoved on her way to her first assignment with the 21rst. And right into battle. 'Do or Die'. No other choices and hoped that the team she was assigned to polished her off with the more intricate tactics while getting blooded.

"You're lucky to receive the time in training and finding a good wingman to be with. " Errowyn spoke softly with a trace of envy in her voice. ~~ Would him and his partner be one of the many replacements for the 21rst if they still existed... ~~ the brief thought flashed through her mind as she played with the glass before her.
