OOC Battlefield Education: My Martial Arts Are Completely Interfering With My School Romantic Comedy

It was more than two words, and you're getting close to flaming now, Edto. The edits were an improvement, and Ame was within her rights to ask for them, regardless. It's done, and the simplest thing we could have done was alert her earlier, instead of when the JP was almost finished.

Thanks for clearing things up like this, Navian. When I saw that he said it was only two words I got concerned my edits were only showing up for me! Haha. Good to hear that's not the case.

I didn't jump down anyone's throat. I was extremely worried. Did I need to be that worried? Idk, but I was. Please respect that I got scared a character close to my heart was used without my consent.

I'm more so concerned with how she came ito the OOC with big bold letters talking like you ad Acewing13 were idiots. Seriously.
Do not play Rei.

Repeat. Do not play Rei, my player character, in your posts.

Ask me to be a part of your JP's if you want Rei in them.

Do not play Rei.

How is this somehow more appropriate than

"Hey guys, could I ask why you wrote for Rei in the JP"

Or if she knew why you wrote for Rei in the JP

"Hey guys, I noticed there were some things wrong with how you wrote Rei, could I go through and write her properly"

Or even

"Hey, Reynolds didn't ask me before forcing my character into every single fight, so I would like it if you just struck Rei out of your JP ad kept the officiator as a faceless teacher"

Again, I was being rushed out the door and didn't have time, but wanted to make sure I was quite clear.

I can assure you, Acewing wasn't nearly as upset as I was.

Kindly drop the matter.

I'll post the Sarena/Bryn fight once the Zoia/Kunio fight is reposted, since it's set to take place as the second of the three fights.

I didn't mention anything about this setup to Ame before the post, because I didn't think it was a big deal. I came up with it while writing the post because it seemed to make the most sense, and was a way to mention all of the teacher characters and where they would be during this, in case they wanted to keep posting even when others have the spotlight.

Also, that first post about not using Rei didn't call anyone out and looked like a good, general warning to me. I was assuming Ame had just read my post and was giving everyone notice to contact her if they wanted Rei to be a part of their fight in some way. It looks like Navian and Acewing have everything settled, and Ame and Wes have weighed in, so that's the end of that.

But to wrap other things up, you really jumped in there where you didn't need to insert yourself, Ed. And got very worked up about something that didn't really affect you, to the point of throwing in a few curse words in there where everyone else in the conversation was keeping things fairly civil. And this isn't the first time I've seen you react like this. Especially when it's someone getting something wrong about your character or not treating them the way you'd prefer.

So, hey, calm down and stop that kinda stuff. Please.

If you've got any other problems then send me a PM, anybody. I really don't want to have to just lock this thread, because I'm working too much this week to be here all hours moderating.

I want to note that I wasn't sure of the details of the situation, I was only answering Amethelia's question. My response is the same of course, but I also want to note that when you're working with other players, sometimes it's also good to show some faith in your fellow players by trusting them to where it's okay if they have your character walk by in the background or whatever if it makes sense, or to let things slide when they're not a big deal. Obviously that trust is not there yet at this point but I hope you guys will build that as you keep roleplaying together.

It's important to try to keep everyone in the loop. It looks like the recent argument was a direct result of a breakdown in communication, which probably could have been prevented. So just try to inform fellow players and ask questions so there's a shared understanding of what's happening and a shared consent.

Finally, even if you've got some beef with what another player is doing, please stay respectful. Namecalling and profanity are just going to make the community a more negative place, and this is a small community where failure to be nice has a way of coming back to haunt you. Star Army has been around for almost a decade and and half and many of the players are very long term players - so I encourage you all to think long term. You don't want to sour your relationships with the guys you may be roleplaying with in another plot in the future, or take a dump in the bed you'll later have to sleep in. Be respectful! 99% of problems here we can work out if we just calmly discuss it and see each others' points of view.

Not bringing up the argument again, just saying this to hopefully clear the air. First, I was talking to Edto at the time this all went down, so that’s why he decided to step in. Take of that what you will. Second, I approve of Ametheliana’s changes to the JP. Third, I apologize to Reynolds for having to step into this mess. Fourth, I agree that all of this could have been fixed with better communication, on both sides of the argument. Hopefully we’ll be able to create that trust that Wes talked about in the future.

I'm pretty sure all three fights of round two took place consecutively, minutes apart, around noon on the same day, and round three isn't ready to happen, yet.

Sorry about the delay. I worked more hours in one week than I usually do in two. Should be back on track now.

Same thing as last time, let me know if you three need any help with anything. I would probably say try to stretch it out to a few posts, to give some time for people to react during the fight. And maybe give everyone time to think about things, instead of just having one big JP done all at once.

If anyone needs me, I'm available tomorrow evening, all day Tuesday, Wednesday evening, all day Thursday, Friday evening, and all day Saturday. By evening, I mean after 6:30 PST. If you don't want to have to schedule me in, have Rei say and do the exact same thing as she did in the past. She counted in Japanese ("Ichi, ni, san!"), had the opponents bow ("Otagai ni Rei," the Samurai said. "Bow to one another.") and she even said "Hajime!" to begin the fight and "Yame!" to end it.

Also if things are getting a bit out of hand or whatever, Rei is also there to interfere in extreme cases. Which we've seen a bit of already.

So like if something goes bad and it looks like someone would get spectacularly hurt, assume Rei is fast and good enough to break things up at the last moment. Ditto for weapons going flying into the crowd, although Shayla or another teacher could also handle that.

Probably the same reason the head librarian is the vice principal and the principal is the only school nurse. Budget, I'm guessing.
