RP: Fort Ready [Class 5] Back in Business

Toshiaki noted the approach of his classmates and the "death" of one of them.

And that is why you avoid battles in the first place.

Noting Saki's approach, Toshiaki radioed over, "Saki, I'm going to try and take a position behind you so I can get some decent shots for once."

Taking a fast note of his sensor readings Toshiaki decided he'd fire his shoulder gauss cannon at the damaged Ripper. At the same time he attempted to rapidly fall behind Saki to gain a more secure firing position.
 
Yume was breathing heavy, her partner down and her Mandy displaying warnings all over, it was enough to overwhelm. She pressed herself onward though. She leveled her rifle at the same enemy she had just hit and pulled the trigger repeatedly until she passed her own command of half max range.

She opened channels that would be to the ship "This is Santo Hei Saishuu Yume, requesting assistance. We are unable to rescue bobcat units. I request self destruct be remotely activated on the two units and combat data be updated for my team. Any assistance that can be spared would be well received"

Telepathically she broadcasted to the other trainees " Where is the coordination? There is no communication between any of you. I haven't even gotten acknowledgments of my orders. We are all one unit. Now priority is the ship's and our defense. Unit one finish of the ripper, Unit two the shock trooper targeting me, it's shields are gone press in and take it out, Scout to me we are going after the other trooper. You have point my shields need to recharge"
 
Keiko's concentrated fire, unobstructed and unavoided, beat down on the Ripper, All of her shots connecting as the distance between her and the target continued to decrease, and her computer continued to zero in her aim. This came with it's price, however. The shocktrooper, deciding that she had most definitely become the new biggest threat, opened all fire on her. Luckily, it missed almost completely, one grazing shot all that even came close.

Miraculously, Saki's lone shot found it's way to the lone standing Ripper, even if it's damage was minimal. The ripper's shots, still focused on Toshiaki, were led almost straight into Saki, though only one actually hit her, with a pair of near misses to go with.

Sadly, all of Toshiaki's shots from his gauss cannon went far wide of the target. He did, however, manage to get all of the way around behind Saki, and avoid all return fire. For once, his luck held, and he didn't have any shots coming close to him.

Yume's shots, because of her continued movement, went wide of the shocktrooper, partially because of it's decision to switch targets, necessitating some movement from it's end. However, with the remaining two enemies occupied with targets of their own in widely disparate positions, she also took no fire, allowing her systems to start the process of bringing her shields back up.

Aendri sighed, starting to move. Finally. When they saw that the shocktrooper was coming in the first place, they should have called me in. Firepower to match firepower. He didn't say that yet, though. Save that for the post simulation briefing. "This is Support Unit One, moving forward to provide fire support. Bobcats will self-destruct on their own, if necessary. At this time, they have ceased fire, and begun charging their teleport modules."

As he came within range, he leveled both Positron Cannons, utilizing the targeting data correlation from his twelve NSBs to lock his aim in on the Shocktrooper. In a quick one-two punch, he fired the cannons one after another, hitting the Shocktrooper with fire of such magnitude as to actually stagger the heavy unit, though falling just shy of straight out killing it. It was definitely hurting in a serious way though.
 
Oh damn...

Keiko started communications with Yume "Acknowledged, but this one Ripper is about to go down. Do I have your permission to finish this threat before I change targets to the Shocktrooper?"

Keiko felt the gracing shot and turned her vision to regard the shooter Who it seems wants to take me the hell out. Change of plans, I don't like my chances against that thing now that it's aiming at me Until Yume confirms Keiko's change of targets to the Shocktrooper, the young soldier abruptly changes the direction of her mech, seeking to put the big lump of metal that was the Ripper between her and the big lump of metal that was shooting at her.

With some luck it will finish my job for me Keiko thought resuming her fire.
 
Breathing a small sigh of relief as he pulled in behind Saki, Toshiaki talked to his partner.

"Let me know if you start taking too much damage, let's kill this SOB!"

Then switching to Yume, Toshiaki replied to the orders he'd received, "Copy Yume, that last Ripper is going down."

Making sure that all his target drones were assisting and without the evasive maneuvers that had been throwing off his shots, Toshiaki attempted to fire his shots at the Ripper Saki had hit.
 
"Acknowledged," responded Saki telepathicaly to Yume. One the enemy shots grazed her but her shields managed to shurgg it off. Saki used a surprise, positron artilery could have create and moved forward.

"Moving forward Tosh-san, we need to get more accurate. Keep behind me I am stil fine. I will be doing circle maneuver so try to keep up." Said Saki over to Toshiaki over the communication channel. If that bossy chick wanted to hear Saki's communicatino with Toshiaki she coul be Saki's guest.

Saki held her shield against Ripper and extended her rifle along it to be able of firing. She was moving in small circle so Ripper wouldn't have it so easy. After all hitting target moving towards you is pretty easy. SHe sent her movement coordination to Toshiaki so he could keep behind her more easily. She also did an ammo check. She fired at least thirf of her mag. There was more then enough left to get rid of one Ripper with Toshiaki's help.

With that Saki aimed at Ripper when she got closer and fire two round to keep him busy. She will start using full-auto and bursts when they will be closer. Now she only needed to keep him from recharging his shields.
 
Yume was somewhat stunned at the request that came as reply. she managed to sound professional though her anger was clear "Scout all targets have been assigned, and priority established. My mindy is at half shields and my partner was lost. Execute your orders on the double"

She turned her machine putting three of her drones on to gather detail on the bobcats at least there is some good news she thought to herself
"Acknowledged Support unit one, welcome to the fray"
 
Long before Keiko was able to bring herself around behind the Ripper, the combined fire from the squad brought down the first Ripper for good, it's systems failing in what showed to be a rather impressive cascade explosion. Meanwhile, the fire on the second, slightly better off Ripper was too disparate to do much other than drop it's shielding systems to around 50%.

The explosion of the first Ripper, still decently close to the Shocktrooper, shook it with the blast, staggering it's aim enough that even with an unobstructed shot on Keiko, it's fire still went wide. The second Ripper, now having two deal with a pair of rapidly moving targets returning fire, began to show it's weaknesses, the fire it put out becoming more and more wild and inaccurate, missing far wide of both targets.

Now completely within range for the majority of his payload, Aendri opened fire again, this time with his Aether Rifle, releasing a pair of three second blasts of power at the Shocktrooper, who had not yet reacted to his presence. Both shots were clean hits, punching clean through the remainder of it's shields, and severely damaging it's core. Despite it's heavy defenses, it would most likely fall soon, with as heavily damaged as it now was.
 
Saki was moving in the same way trying to get closer. As her chance to hit enemy was getting better, it also made it easier for enemy to hit her. It was time to even the odds even more.

Saki lounched her drones. She let one float near her left shoulder where it was previously dock to give her support fire against any incoming missiles. Saki sent second more to left to provide her with more tactical data about Rippers location for her targeting computer to use. Her theory was that with two points of view at Ripper, her targeting computer will have help.

With that Saki fired two more rounds while closing to enemy. She will move to full-auto and start bursing enemy when she gets closer. But she is not close enough yet.
 
Keeping close behind Saki, Toshiaki fired off more plasma shots at the remaining Ripper.

"Keep it up everybody, they're nearly down!"

The operation may not have gone perfectly, but at least it looked like the enemies would not be escaping.
 
Well as long as that Shocktrooper isn't aiming at her our leader should be fine Keiko thought, highly satisfied at seeing the Ripper she engaged finally down for good.

Her day only brightened even more when their support unit set loose it's fire on the frightening target that was the Shocktrooper, leaving it greatly damaged.

Alright, now I'm ready to engage. Keiko thought, setting her aim on the place the Aether Rifle connected on her new target. She opened fire just as she started to move once again this time descending and moving slighly to the left.
 
The combined fire from Saki and Toshiaki was enough to completely drain the second Ripper's shields, leaving it unprotected against further fire. It's movement became erratic, obviously wanting to attack, but knowing it was doomed.

Keiko's fire on the still staggered Shocktrooper hit to devastating effect, punching through the armor where it had already been weakened by Aendri's earlier shots. It's systems died in a crashing cascade explosions as well, though the explosion of the Shocktrooper was more inward focused than that of the Ripper.

The second Ripper's aether beamlets, meanwhile, went far wide of anything it could possibly have been aiming at, not even coming close to any of the squad members in it's growing agitation. It's gauss cannon fire, still by far it's most potent weapon, became slower and more spread apart as well, firing more single shots wildly than the normal three round burst system.

Aendri opted not to attack the last Ripper, feeling the squad had matters well in hand there. Instead, he maintained speed to catch up to the squad as a whole, letting his power levels rise back up, after depleting them so severely with his heavy onslaught to start with.
 
There were no orders from Yume-san about current situation so Saki decided to keep doing what she was doing now.
"Keep it up Tosh-san!" She shouted to Toshiaki to raise both his and her morale. Rippers shield were down, but Ripper itseld was pretty tough too. Was it time to charge him or no? She wasn't sure. But she could if she going to cooperate.

"Tosh-san! On your go I am going to charge the ripper. I will be going al ittel to the left while lying donw fire on him. It should get his attention towards me and you should have clear shot with your gauss!" said Saki.

She changed her fire selector on full-auto, prepared to unleash her rifle on the Ripper. She meant to get his attention with long bursts not to do serious damage. She then sent her closer drone into ten meter distance and set it to be on lookout for any other enemy threat. With that she waited for Toshiaki's say. "I am ready whenever you are," she said over the comm.
 
Toshiaki smiled at the destruction of the Shocktrooper.

At least that problem is dealt with.

Hearing Saki's idea, Toshiaki rapidly responded, "Acknowledged Saki-san, go for it!"

Aiming for the now shield-less Ripper, Toshiaki kept himself on a hair trigger so that he would fire the moment Saki began the maneuver.
 
Another one down

Keiko looked back at her companions to see that their target was almost finished, so there was no sense in giving them backup. Instead she concentrated on the rest of their enemies ahead, approaching them to get more information on the remaining targets.
 
As Keiko approached the remainder of their enemies and the Bobcats, she would be able to clearly see one of the Bobcats disappearing shortly before the second one exploded, though where specifically it had teleported to, she had no idea. Hopefully to the ship.

As Saki began her maneuver, Toshiaki began to open fire as well, firing rapidly in short little burst of fire from his hand-held weapon, as well as a quick triple shot from his gauss cannon. The combined fire, mostly from the one source, was plenty enough to overwhelm what defenses the Ripper had in terms of armor, poking it full of little holes and dents. While this armor (unlike the others) didn't explode, it was very clear that it would not be a problem any time in the near future, if ever.

Aendri was more than slightly puzzled at the sudden silence from the recruit who had named herself squad leader, and even more so at the other member of the squad moving towards the remaining enemies without the rest of the group. He would've thought they would have easily learned to work as a group by now, rather than going off on their own.
 
Saki smiled under her helmet when Ripper ceased to show any signs of life. She was not sure about its self-repair protocols. "Blas him Tosh-san. We shouldn't risk." She commed to Toshiaki. She then aimed her gun on and emptied the rest of her magazine into it.

She then reloaded and started checking her surroudings. One of her team was missin, three wre frozen and did nothing. Even Yume-san. She frowned upon seing that. Armour malfunction? Did intructor do that to see what we will do?

"Okay peple let's regroup." she said over the comm and then moved her attention to enemy in distance. Okay there is only three of them active. Tosh-san, this Keiko-san and intructor who was on his way in artillery armour. They can still do this.
 
Well better safe than sorry I supposed.

"Acknowledged Saki-san." replied Toshiaki.

He fired one more burst of plasma rifle shots at the armor just to be on the safe side while simultaneously ordering his drones to check for any more enemies.

What happened to Yume-san I wonder? I didn't see her go down.
 
At least I can hope one of the Bobcats got away safely

While the news were good Keiko did not get any specific information on the remaining enemy forces. She stopped her approach as she waited for the rest of her team to get closer to her position.

"Acknowledged, I'll wait for you two to get here" Keiko said. In the meantime she would observed how the remaining hostiles reacted now that the Bobcats were, one way or another, gone.
 
Yume heard someone else giving commands. She just seemed to have trouble thinking. She'd held her cool and commanded well at first then, one request and one unit came in to overwhelm the enemy that the sort of combined unit couldn't. She shook herself and headed to Keiko.

" Confirm. All units rendezvous with her and prepare for second assault. Weapons check, shields charged, and damage status double checked and then check it again"
