Panther Attack Shuttle Wing SP-01

Since the sounding of the initial alert, a group of one-thousand nekovalkryja pilots were at the ready in the flight bay assigned to the Hotaru's SP-01 flight wing. Along with these nekovalkryja pilots, there were the thousands of NH-12B units assigned to the wing, several thousand power armor units, and one thousand Panther-Aeroshuttles to carry them in. The shuttles were fresh, shiny, brand new... and they'd get their first taste of combat which the Mishhu seemed to beg for.

It was barely ten seconds after the alert sounded that Itto Juni Kiri-Mai made her way onto the flight deck, she was clad in the full bodysuit variant of the SAoY uniform, with a black headband tied around her forehead which bared the flag of the Empire upon the middle of it. The headband held back her shoulder length brown-red hair out of the frame of her red eyes. The look in those eyes was something which she had not shown since the battle of Taiie, the blazing focus in her expression made the brilliant red of her manufacturer's tattoo upon her cheek seem pale in comparison... unfortunately she had a companion which failed to match her appearance.

On Kiri-Mai's shoulder was a bubble-gum pink haired NH-12B which had the same exact outfit on as Kiri-Mai, but with tiny bows in her hair... despite her cute appearance, she had an expression of determined focus which made even the eight inch nekovalkryja seem to be a bit larger than she actually was.

As Kiri-Mai approached her freshly assigned Panther, she began to bark out orders verbally and through telepathic communication. “Attention members of SP-01, flush the alcohol from your systems, the new years party is over. We shall mobilize once we're clear of the enemy's initial torpedo barrage. This is not a drill, we have an enemy attack group outside which we're going to show the might of this new attack-shuttle. Technical specs on the attack group forwarding to each of you now. Our primary objective is to move within deployment range to deliver our NH-12 piloted Mindy and LAMIA armors on the enemy vessels, then begin a skirmish with the enemy attack pods. While skirmishing, units 750 – 1000 will be handling FTL maneuvers to intercept enemy torpedoes. Units 500 – 749 will be handling the basic attack pods. Units 250 – 499 will be handling command pods and Ripper armors. Units 1 – 249 will be on multi-role assignment... put your fire where it seems to matter most.

“NH-12Bs assigned to armor combat, your primary objective is to disable the enemy's primary anti-fleet weapons, once their weapons are disabled, begin precision strikes on each of their primary reactors to sit them dead in space so our big-friends can handle them. Your objectives in order of importance; heavy particle weapons, torpedo tubes, transposition weapons, medium weapons, launch bays, reactors, free-fire.

“I expect by now each of you have back ups of your data, get into your shuttles and begin pre-launch procedures... and don't forget to watch that friendly fire out there, keep your heads on your WARMS and network functions.”

As Kiri-Mai gave the last bit of her orders, she sat herself in the pilot seat of her assigned Panther. The spine connection was made and she began to activate the shuttle's systems. Aether reactor, on-line. Antimatter containment, on-line. Antimatter-Energy converter, on-line. Fusion engines, on-line. Antimatter packet launchers, loaded. Primary Aether Cannon, charged. Aether Gatling units, charged... She looked behind her to see her pink-haired companion, disappear into a crawl space, and several other NH-12 units crawling into Mindy armors which were placed in the launch tubes of the Panther. Repair assistant, in place. Armors, manned. Shield systems, charged. Activating gravity control device. The Panther then began to hover off the deck, as it did, the other shuttles followed suit.

“Kiri-Mai to all units, ready check.” When she finished speaking, one thousand ready indicators quickly blinked into existence in her mind. “Link CIES systems, confirm KAMI link. Remain ready for launch.”

Mere moments went by as the fighter wing was on edge and ready for deployment. Along the edges of the bay, a number of LAMIA armors equipped with the KE-W-3000 aether Gatling stood guard in case of enemy pod advances. The bay doors opened and a message was forwarded from KAMI, the lori has made it's move out from the path of the torpedo barrage. “We do what we must, because we can. All units, launch!” As soon as the words were out from her lips, Kiri-Mai's shuttle raced out from the bay at .85c. Kiri-Mai's vision was filled with a hybrid of what she saw from her Panther's view, and what the whole fleet saw as a whole. The launch was timed well, the initial heavy-weapons barrage had just impacted, the wash of radiation and brilliant light was just fading as she piloted her shuttle, setting a course for an arcing route to move in on the surviving enemy's flank.

The course was set and shared with the wing, and soon the one thousand shuttles activated their modest 5000c drives and performed a high speed maneuver to position themselves on the evading enemy's flank as they dropped out of FTL just 'above' the far left flank of the surviving enemy's command ships, and the shuttles then went about a high speed pass while dropping their load of LAMIA and Mindy on the enemy, timing their deployments to allow for an even dispersal of armors on the command group.

As soon as the armors were deployed, they quickly darted from their original deployment positions at FTL speeds to avoid incoming anti-armor fire, only for split seconds they dropped out of FTL to place a burst of aether on a heavy weapons emplacement, or to put a burst of aether down a torpedo tube. Despite their efforts, some armors were ripped clear through with small beams of positrons which resulted in the impacted armors exploding in brilliant displays of matter/antimatter conversion. This exact situation was what earned the NH-12 the reputation of being grim in most assignments.

The Panther component of the SP-01 wing continued their pass, all while raking the enemy with aether Gatling and cannon fire before pulling away and beginning their individual tasks... groups plunged into the attack pod wings, another group darted about, placing brilliant streams of fire in open launch bays, and raking enemy ships with aether cannon fire to hopefully distract their weapons from their relatively frail powerarmor companions. The last group moved about at FTL speeds in front of the Mishhu attack group, it was almost suicidal, but they put themselves into harm's way as they pelted launched torpedoes with antimatter packets and raking Gatling fire.

”All sections, excellent deployment, continue as you are.” Kiri-Mai said in an almost monotone manner as she skimmed her shuttle along the surface of one of the battle ships, dropping the last power armor directly beside one of it's heavy weapon cannons. Once the armor was deployed, she accelerated to FTL speeds to break away from the firing arc of the weapon, she than began the task of Ripper and Command Pod hunting as her mind gave instruction to her group as she watched every Panther, LAMIA, and Mindy move about in her mind's eye. A shudder of pleasure washed over her as she watched brilliant white traces of aether Gatling fire rip through a command pod That was kill 7056 of my service... the pilot thought to herself as that number was quickly washed away with the coming fruits of her defense of the Hotaru.

"I am sorry for the abrupt entrance Yumiko-hei, and for the lackluster welcome. But as you can see we are about to be engaged in combat. If we make it out in one piece, I will be sure to give you a proper welcome."

The Shoi nodded at this, and opened a communications to the power armor team. "Belay my order, the new crew member has arrived and you will launch and form up on the Asamoya." Yuriko then looked to Koharu. "Take us out Koharu."

The Asamoya's subspace encased particle cannons came out of their hiding places then, the covers folding back, and the turrets coming up. The regenerative shielding was set to activate as soon as they left Hotaru, and then it was just up to chance, luck, and skill for them to get through this.

"Aye aye." Koharu carefully urged the Asamoya forward out of Bay 16 and into the open space outside of Hotaru. She kept her eyes always moving from one display to another as she mentally prepared herself for the newest battle.

"We are quite alright, just had to pick up a new crew member." Yuriko responded to Caine's transmission as the Asamoya left the hangar. Her shields raised, and the weapon pods deployed. Once out, they began assisting the 17th by adding their own fire to the group.

"MEGAMI initiated scans of the area, and get me updated on the situation. I also want a number for the enemies, and just what we're dealing with." She ordered, gripping her chair's arms lightly.

"Hai Shoi, scan initiated. I am detecting one battleship, two carriers, ten destroyers, and nine scouts. The Fifth Expeditionary Fleet is currently engaging a large force of SMX attack pods, and have activated interdiction fields." MEGAMI replied as the computer continued to monitor the ships in the area, as well as the comm traffic.

"Charge the main cannon and await my firing order. When we get a clear target that is when we fire." The Shoi stated, un-locking several systems in preparation in case if they should be needed. "'Tenshi, you are a go for launch as soon as you are ready." Yuriko said, and true to her words, the armor bay doors began to open, and the atmospheric shields shimmered into place.

Yuki entered the kitchen and quickly gathered some food. She put the food into a container along with some water. The neko hoped that this would be enough to really get Kotonoha out of bed and ready.

Yuki left the kitchen hurriedly, with the container of food, before she headed towards Stateroom 1.

Reaching the Stateroom within a few moments, Yuki knocked on the door and entered. "Gomenasai. Ano... Kotonoha-heisho. Please wake up.... Etto... I have food...," the caretaker said, with a small laugh at the end.

On the Asamoya,

Datenshi was getting the armor wings together, her own suit tightly wrapped around her body save for her helmet.

"Already ahead of you Shoi. I'm gonna leave Fuyu and Kyuuka back, but I'm takin Haru, Ame and Shii and Aki ok?"

Looking around the sprites were all suiting up and getting ready as well, Datenshi's own suit using the simple balanced wing pack. She had a additional weapon attached to her hard point, the Ke-W2909 Accelerated plasma rifle, along with the Ke-M2-W2909-RGL grenade launcher addition. Stepping to the door to space, Datenshi waited for the signal to launch.

Getting it, the Neko grinned into her helmet, looking to the others in the bay with her. "You heard the woman, move out! Everyone form up on the side of the Asamoya and get ready to fight. This is a big one..." Datenshi said aloud to her team before stepping out into space, the doorway shimmering a little as she passed through the barrier that separated space from the armor bay. As told to, Datenshi formed up on the side of the Asamoya still well inside the shield.

On the Fujin,

Kuniko was well...She seemed a little pissed. Even her usual attendent Mayui wasn't being as hyper and playful as normal. She was serious, sitting atop Kuniko's shoulder helping to control and organize the armors as they left port. With the first wave, Kuniko's group dodged just as the others did, her ship coming back in at the same time as the others as her armors began to pour from the ship.

"All armors group into your wings and get to the ships. Those with Anti-ship get to work at cutting into hulls, those with anti-infantry and other, give them covering fire to there, while there and on the way back if need. Kinkou, keep your bays open and personnel down in the bays to keep them secure and to be ready to aid anyone brought back. All Arashi escorts, I want you to set up a defensible line around the carriers to give our guys a easy fall back area. If there is no need you are to advance and attack as well."

Came a harsh voice from Kuniko, her fist in a ball as she tried to calm down and work herself to get straight. With a deep breath and a sigh, she closed her eyes, flushing her emotions away and replacing it with a calmness. Opening her eyes again a soft grin came over her face.

"Armor wings, make sure to coordinate any efforts with other wings if possible. We need to rush them and hopefully get to their ships before they can really open up. If we can get to them, we can disable and board them."

Thinking it best, Kuniko had all but two of the Arashi escorts empty their armor bays, the ships sticking around as ordered. Of course the ships would dodge, that was only to be expected and Kuniko expected nothing but the best from both her group, and from those around her. Already the Arashi were taking potshots at the enemy, nothing to draw attention, though every so often one or two would fire off a torpedo. Most of the time it was the AS-7-1-SDM, Type 1 followed closely by a AS-7-1-AM, Type 1 to blast a hole for the armors to sneak in at a later time if the torpedo didn't do the trick.

"I want every last ship either disabled and boarded, or dead. Is that clear?!" A resounding "Yes Ma'am!" came from those on the bridge which seemed to only pump Kuniko up even more as she watched her group move and carry out her orders.

Now more then ever we need to work together...Please let's get through this, I need some sleep. Kuniko thought to herself duly, shaking her head a little.

”Torpedoes incoming from friendlies... adjust armor deployment.” Kiri-Mai sounded over the communications link to her wing, she was glad her wing would be getting some additional support considering the heavy fire which spewed from the Mishhu ships. ”Units deployed from units 175 – 200, shift priority to cover incoming torpedoes. Destroy point defense positron emitters which are facing incoming torpedoes direction. Once torpedoes impact, I want Panther units 175 - 200 to fire antimatter packets into the breaches to clear out hostiles.” the Itto Juni instructed as she monitored the fleet's movements, all while maneuvering and weaving around brilliant bright streams of positron beams.

Obviously, Yumiko saw that Koharu and Yuriko were rather busy with things, so she decided not to distract them with, at that time, needless introductions. "Understood." she replied. "I'll head immediately to the medbay."

She turned, and left the bridge. With a simple telepathic command, Yumiko prompted MEGAMI to direct her to the closest armory on the way to the med bay, so she could fetch a weapon more suitable to defend herself with should the need arise. Once she arrived, it was a hard choice to pick between the same type of pulse rifle Yuriko had fetched earlier, and the NSMG. In the end (which only took about five to ten seconds), she decided on the NSMG. It seemed lighter, and she didn't want to take the pulse rifle in the event that someone much more proficient and capable needed it. A moment was taken to attach the holster for the weapon to her belt, after adjusting her sidearm holder further behind her. A lingering thought brought her to the inescapable logic that she might need a refill of ammo before the battle was over, so another pair of clips were fetched, with a pouch to keep them in (which was also clipped to her belt) before she made her way back out.

Now more properly armed, the trip to the medbay was rushed. Still guided by MEGAMI, which made things easy, Yumiko had the time to check over the weapon she picked up, and unfold the stock just for a bit of practice, then folded it all back up again and returned the weapon to it's holster. A minute or two later, and she arrived at the medbay. She stepped inside, unsure whether she would find sprites, other crewmembers, or just an empty place for her to linger in alone. Regardless, it was where she was told she should be, so that's where she stays.

Noboru rounded a corner to find three Rippers marching up the hallway. He crouched behind the wall that was next to the hallway and telepathically screamed to everyone he could hit with a telepathic message.

This is Santo Hei Akio Noboru of the YSS Asuka. I have spotted three Mishhu rippers inside Bay 16 and am requesting fire support. Co-ordinates will be supplied should someone decide to come out and help me.

Saya was already in the medbay that Yumiko had entered, rushing around to prep everything that needed to be prepped. Beside her was Kyuuka the medical sprite, aiding in readying the bay for any injured fighters. Hardly noticing the girl, Saya whisked past her before making sure all the hemo tanks were full and ready. Finally taking notice of Yumiko, she gave a small wave before a file was sent to her.

"Greetings Yumiko-chan, I need you down in the auxillary medbay number two. Please make your way there, I have given the location to you in the file."

Hardly enough time to see anything of note of the woman, Saya rushed into the ST room in order to check on it, before heading off and out of the room to the third bay to start prepping it, Kyuuka in tow.

"Fuyu-chan will be down in bay two, do not worry if she seems mean, she is just worried." Came a hurried message from Saya as she was half way to the third bay.

"STOP, NOBORU-HEI! Those are our own armors! RETURN IMMEDIATELY! THAT'S AN ORDER!"

Indeed, the "Rippers" were members of the 17th...no Mishhu had infiltrated the bay yet. Furthermore, Yaichiro sounded quite angry.

"Kigetsuki-Heisho, retrieve Noboru-Hei immediately! Prevent him from harming any of our allies. I give authorization for AIES override on his armor, if need be."

And THAT message beamed Noboru out of his glory-hazed hallucinations.

"Oh geez, I screwed up this time... Sorry, Yaichiro-taii. Won't happen again. Started daydreaming." He slapped a metallic hand onto his metallic head and kind of stood there, dumbfounded, in the halls of Bay 16; far from where he was supposed to be.

“Hai, Yaichiro-san!” Kishou had never been subjected to an AIES override before – and had definitely never done it to anyone else. Maybe this was all part of being a higher rank? Regardless, in her opinion, it wasn’t a question of need be or not – if he was going to shoot someone then she knew her armour couldn’t get out there fast enough to stop him…almost fast enough, but not quite.

Noboru-hei would find his head filled with flashy warning labels and lots of symbols that translated to varying degrees of ‘nope, that’s not going to work’. In a word, he was frozen on the spot. The only reason he hadn’t fallen to the ground in a crumpled heap was because Kishou was actually a really sweet person at heart. Her CFS activated and the lone Mindy armour zipped from of the Asuka and flew over to retrieve the confused newbie.

She stopped about half a foot from his face; both their helmets opening to reveal the faces inside. Kishou smiled at the new pilot – her orange hair rustling gently in the massive bay. “…you have pretty eyes.” She paused. “Lets get them back to the ship, neh?” And with that, their helmets snapped shut again. Kishou took Noboro’s armour by the hand and dragged the hapless pilot into the Asuka.

And only then did she unlock his armour.

Seeing his captor's face- a fellow Yamatai reg- Noboru snapped back to reality, his warped delusions of grandeur ending on the spot. Hearing the complement, he dropped his guard for but a moment.

"... Yeah, yours aren't so bad either."

Caine would have the 17th briefly run a check to see if Noboru had done any damage and was pleased to know that he hadn't managed to do too much thanks to their top-of-the-line armor and shielding. But the unwarranted attack by some delusional pilot had annoyed him to the point of sending a warning communication to him and the Asuka as they continued to keep the Bay secure while waiting for Yaichiro's Sakura. volleys of aetheric rifle and missile fire would be blowing away any enemies that neared the bay itself.

"Asuka, keep your newbie on or near your ship. I do not appreciated being subject to friendly fire." He said in a cold tone.

Seconds before the Star Army ships deployed their interdiction fields Uuyi I and Uuyi II folded, pulling into the future position of Soth Arcxis and Neyja I and II at the systems perimeter. Then the whole group folded before the inbound Irims could reach them with their Legacy cannon fire.

The calculated commander of the Mishhu group had something else in mind than becoming the simple space debris left behind by a deal with a group of treasonous Nekos. The group remerged into real space again at the position with Uuyu I and II the outer system near Jiyuu VII, she had escaped destruction that time, but her protective shell of Frasworstch (Jio 1~100) had been drawn into the rifts and obliterated.

Hu 1~100 took moderate losses; they regrouped into 75 wings of 1000 pods (Hu 1~75) and turned their attention onto targeting the nacelles of the larger Star Army ships, specifically the Seijin no Umi.

Togi I and II fell victim quickly escort group and the missiles, Togi III however managed to keep itself intact slamming into Hotaru’s shields and detonating. Togi IV, V, VI, VII peeled away from Hotaru only suffering moderate damage. They moved into a ring formation and fired their Legacy cannons into the formation of ships that had been pulled off production line.

Qeh I~V broke away from the staging area and once free of the interdiction field they folded and formed up around Soth Arcxis and the carriers. Qeh V~X joined the attack on the ships pulled off the production line, firing their SPECs at any ships trying to flee the attack by the Togi group.

Gyu I and II
suffered a near half loss, the officer pods reformed into Gyu I, and continued their assault on the 17th Armor Wing.

------------
The Second Wave of SMX ships entered the region; another Balanced Battlegroup emerged from hyperspace. They formed an arch 4 AU below the system’s core their angle pitched to face the Fifth’s staging area. They lacked two carriers and a battleship and scouts, having been pulled from another group on patrol near Bizranko.

The two Ooghlrashithagg (Falmouth I, II) launched their full compliments of Frasworstch (Yab 1~100) but they held back forming a defensive cloud around the carriers. Their nine Xianthrafruglu (Portland I~IX) formed the upper arm of the arch, charging their weapons. The ten Ghullfrashirv (Brunswick I~10) made the bottom most part of the arch, holding position like the rest of the ships in the group.

Katsuko entered the Nodal Interface War Room, the room in darkness; she pulled out two black control wands from her belt and the room activated. Within moments she was in real-time, volumetric projections forming the view as if she were standing on top of Hotaru. Like the conductor of an orchestra she used the wands to point at different ships on the field, they would magnify and their readouts would transmit through PANTHEON.

She fell into a near dreamlike state, Hotaru responding as fast as she could handle it. The battlefield was her playground. Supplementary volumetric windows opened, as she monitored the battle communications simultaneously to her check on the fleet’s status.

She however could see something that no one else in the fleet could. Sitting above the SMX battleship was a dark grey outline of a Yuumi Battleship, she pointed the wand at it, and it magnified.

YSS Munin II

Operational Status: Green
Detection Status: Negative

A smile came upon her lips, and a hyperspace communication on the Taisho line initiated contact.

The Munin II had folded into hyperspace those many days ago and had not emerged since. It had been there all along, using its graviton projectors and CDD to blend itself into the natural eddies within hyperspace. The Munin II emerged into real space, its projected energy weapons releasing upon the battleship at near point blank range.

Seconds later a burst from its Interphasic Quantum Entropy Field Emitter. The disruption surged the Battleship its Quintessent Energy Taps disabled, the hulk sat there powerless. The Munin II engaged its CDD, weaving out of the SMX formation and submerged itself back into hyperspace, tracking only for a moment before it blended back into the hyperspace gravity eddies.

“Thanks for the…” Kishou giggled at Caine’s comment, even if the ace himself was nigh furious. “…thanks for the compliment, newbie-kun.”

Of course, it then suddenly occurred to Kishou that this wasn’t how commanding officers were supposed to act – not when people had done naughty things. She thought back to how Sarri-chui had dealt with Lishou's group on its first assignment. Yes, she’d be a good example to emulate. She nodded to herself.

“Stay still, newbie…” And without warning Kishou reared back and backhanded the man straight across the face. “…bad, Noboru. No charging off without orders. Caine-san’s all mad since you went over and shot up his friends. Yaichiro-san sounds cross too so I’d apologise if I were you before it gets worse. Welcome to the Asuka by the way!”

On the YSS Atarashi
"Two enemy Xianthrafruglu Destroyers firing down Gamma-3!" Sakemoto's sensors officer yelled, reports in loud voices were only reserved for events affecting the YAG directly.

"Wait- WHAT!?" The Chusa responded, surprised and nearly standing up from his chair. Never in his life as a Subgroup Commander had he experienced his own ships receiving an end of the stick this short, but then again having no experience in a battle this large scale and not having the Irims at Gamma-3 under his direct supervision worked against him.

At point Gamma-3 the Irims were awaiting the arrival of Tange Nao's core group when the Legacy Cannon beams washed over them. Thankfully before that they were taking the opportunity to provide long range support with their Anti-Fleet weapons, which meant that they were arranged in a formation facing the bulk of the enemy thus the damage was potentially less as the Mishus were not firing down the line.

However the damage was no less devastating, four Gunships on either side of the formation took direct hits, two vanishing from existence in a blink of an eye. Nearby Power Armors were yanked and quickly sucked into the deadly vacuum created by the beams, some managed to cling onto the critically damaged NG-X5-79 before the doomed ship was sucked in and destroyed anyway. NG-X5-77 lost combat capability and struggled to escape with secondary drives.

On the YSS Yukari

Taisa Nao was not pleased either, although there was no certain way to prevent the loss of the ships and that it was part and parcel of a large scale battle, her once being one of the tens of thousands of Power Armor pilots instantly lost hurt her inside. "Hold positions, assistance will arrive shortly!" she commanded to the affected ships before turning to her Vice Captain. "Increase speed to Flank and provide covering fire!"

On the YSS Midori

Chusa Za had just finished moving her fleet into a flanking position on the battlefield when the report came. The dull green haired Neko sat crossed legged and looked rather unmoved by the loss of three Irims and the YSS Ara Mitama's damage. But deep inside she knew that it could have been anybody on the battlefield, Sakemoto for example.

"The enemy destroyers are regrouping to attack targets of opportunity. We shall take this as an opportunity in itself, and focus our fire here when they are distracted and organizing." She said, keeping her eyes on the screen while pointing out the location of attack.

"Hai, Chusa." Her Captain responded. Chusa Za's 11 Irims began to naturally form a loose but three dimensional formation as they charged up their Anti Fleet weapons. Something like that won't happen to me, I didn't live this long by waiting for people to tell me what needs to be done.
