RP: 5th XF [Hotaru] An Unfortunate Night

"Ah, geez, great way to start my first day on the Asuka, eh? Probably stuck on KP duty until my hair and teeth fall out..." Noboru sighed. His durandium shoulders sagged as if secured by a large weight. He sat his armor down and climbed out.

Yaichiro replied promptly to Caine, angered himself, it seemed...

"Oh, he'll be taken care of. Unless you want to deal with him yourself and assume command of him for this mission, I'll deal with him personally once this is all over..."

Yaichiro immediately removed all Power Armor access rights from Noboru-Hei...until he knew better, he wouldn't even be allowed to TOUCH a Power Armor unless told.

"Noboru-Hei, your Power Armor access rights have been removed. I see you've had medical training. Report to the Med Bay and wait for wounded. I'll deal with you at a later time."

After noting that Misato was not responding, a set of telepathic messages were sent over secure channels...Soon, a shining new Sakura arrived at Bay 17, Weapons Pods firing at enemy units and a full compliment of two dozen Power Armors firing their Sakura Rifles at enemy units. The YSS Kappa (NG-X5-222) also made sparing use of its Railguns, the risk of damaging Hotaru too great. Fortunately, the station's shields had sustained the collision from the enemy ship without collapsing.

As the ship entered the bay, it was fitted with the Electron Countermeasure, the Sakura Pylon II, the M29X00 Mini Striker SEM, and more importantly, the M29X02 Anti-Fleet Interdiction SEM. Also arriving on the scene was a lone Mindy, which entered the ship. Soon, Yaichiro got a communication from the Snowflake.

"Kokoro Minako-Juni here and ready to commense operation, Taii!" Yaichiro nodded, and the two ships departed Bay 16.

The Snowflake unleashed supporting fire to take down enemy armors from its Mini Striker Array and Weapons Pods, the two dozen Mindies defending the ships as they left dock. Asuka also released fire from its own Weapons Pods.

"MEGAMI. Give me a general representation of the forces at play, including distances in Astronomical Units between clusters of targets and allies."

SP-01

The fog of war, usually it was an issue for space deployments... the vast nature of space was something which left many commanders dumbfounded and confused. Fortunately for Kiri-Mai and the SP-01 wing, they had been observing the full load of information distributed by the Hotaru. ”They folded, they're on the system's edge now. Redirect efforts. Panther units numbered 250-500 and deployed armors, shift to attacking Togi group, target the enemy's Legacy cannons. Utilize a combined strike of Power Armor and Panther fire to disable their cannons, we can not afford to lose those ships.”

Kiri-Mai's mind went over the information available, things were becoming spread out to the point where things were bound to get out of hand, even more so as she noticed enemy reinforcements appear. ”Panther units 501 to 1000, shift efforts to neutralize enemy group labeled Yab. Deployed armor units from 501 to 1000, move to an attack position and focus fire on enemy Portland group. Utilize rifle fire to try to disable their main cannons. Once cannons are neutralized, move onto other prioritized targets, our big friends can handle them after the cannons have been dealt with.”

Kiri-Mai had hopes that the situation would not have escalated to where it was now, but it seemed her hopes were dashed with the way the battle had become. ”Units 1 – 249 and deployed armors, conduct mop-up operations on enemy Hu group. All units, be sure to remain out of the line of fire of enemy and friendly primary weapons.”

(Doc...color coding!!! please see the battle OOC thread!)

"I..." Noboru made a move to counter Yaichiro-taii's, but he knew he couldn't win. So he conceded.

"I understand, sir. Do with me as you see fit."

The ship rattled again as another stray SEPCs beam grazed the shields, testing them. The Asamoya continued on as MEGAMI finally compiled a report of the numbers of SMX ships, and pods. The Shoi frowned a little, her mind whirring as she tried to decide how, and where to help. The Fifth were heavily engaged it seemed, masses of SMX pods, ships, and the like. But still, this did not compare to Nataria in her mind.

Yuriko activated her SPINE interface, and began to go over the SMX assets. Seeing what came up, Yuriko smirked a little. "'Tenshi, prepare for a fold." The Shoi announced, and then to the crew as the fold drives charged. The torpedo compliment switched out, and into something a little more...different. "Koharu-Chan, forgive me, but I am taking helm control for the moment. Please monitor the shields, and sensors." With that said and done, Yuriko immediately slipped inside of the Asamoya's systems, reveling in them.

She was certainly bigger then a Power Armor. Finding the command for the fold drive. Once found she initiated the fold. The Asamoya blinked out of existence, and back again. Now above the four Ooghlrashithagg carriers, (Neyja I, Neyja II, Falmouth I, II) hopefully taking them by surprise. The Asamoya pivoted on its axis, and went into a steep dive like a hawk diving for its prey now. The Atmospheric shielding in place about the power armor bay showing the events outside, explosions in the distance, and flashes of light from aetheric weaponry, or particle cannon fire. Debris was everywhere it seemed, and an explosion even racked the shields near the power armor bay, causing them to flair up, and then subside.

As the Asamoya sped downwards, she fired two Subspace Detonator torpedoes, followed by a quartet of pulse mode shots from the aether beam cannon, all directed at both Neyja I, and Nejya II. All the while the Asamoya's SEPCs targeted Falmouth I and Falmouth II, firing at them in a brilliant display of shield and armor piercing energy at the other two carriers, hoping to rake themselves along their hulls.

The Asamoya was almost upon the carriers, and the battleship as Yuriko had power shunted from the capacitor's, and into the Hyperfold Drives, providing a quicker boost in charge time. The Asamoya's fold drive quickly charged, thanks to the energy shunted into it, and the ship disappeared again in an eye blink, only to re-appear about 2 AU away, to give the ship some breathing room. Yuriko did a quick scan to see if any of her shots had hit or not. She didn't have time to do so during the high speed maneuver, for fear of colliding with one of the Mishhuvurthyar ships.

Sumauru had been shifting his current configuration during the time from his return to the ship. So with the rearming complete he now carried, a Sylph Wing Pack along with Offensive Augmentation Pods instead of his usual equipment. The young armor pilot so full of adrenaline and youthful headstrong emotion was prepared now for his destiny, to prove his worth once more out there in the battle field.

When the Asamoya was thrust into combat, Sumaru's frost blue eyes watched out the port side armor bay door the war ship took it's dive, taking deep breaths as he composed him self. "Sora... I will prove it to you, and I will prove it them. No matter the monster, no matter the peril." His words were whispered inwardly, echoing for a second in his mind as thoughts swirled within and ignited fire in his eyes flashing over a sharp and calculated expression. Once the ship was some distance away after the blink, Sumaru stood there watching the Ships off in the distance, the lights of space combat flickering from every direction danced over his polished pink paneled Mindy, the feminine humanoid mecha only offered a professional gaze on the battle field, unlike it's pilot who was much more emotional in combat engagement.

"Hasegawa Sumaru-hei here, rearm complete, launching now!" He announced to update command as he then rushed towards the open armor bay doors, both of his arms were already charging concentrated forearm blasts on exit.

"Alright Wish, it's me and you. Let's show them what we got!" Sumaru quickly said to his machine as he then burst speedily out of the side of the ship, sweat already escaping his pours and both eyes shifting erratically as they constantly scanned his constantly shifting HUD. As the Mindy armor zipped away from the Asamoya, still in safe distance mind you, three of Wish's NSBs quickly popped out and moved around the sides and rear of the armor to keep the pilot from being caught flat footed, as Sumaru had already learned previously not to make mistake.

"'Tenshi..." Yuriko's voice sounded into the armorer's and armor wing leader's helmet as Sumaru launched. He hadn't waited for the others to launch, or even the launch order from 'Tenshi. The Shoi sighed as MEGAMI brought her sensors to bare on the ships the Asamoya had just assaulted.

Noboru, meanwhile, had sprinted to the medlab. Along the way, he passed the wreckage of the unfortunate drone that had caught his first blast of fire- Man, gotta stop being so reckless -and continued past. He eventually arrived at the lab, which was patiently awaiting arrival.

Yaichiro grimmaced at the Asamoya's attack as it began, but figured it could be a blessing in disguise. He quickly ordered four additional Irims to use their IES systems to extrapolate the most likely fold points for the enemy carriers, and initiate CDD systems to intercept.

This would be followed by a raising of the Interdiction field and the merciless attack utilizing the Anti Fleet Weapons and the Weapon Pods of the mighty Irims.

The NG-X5-87 through NG-X5-90 were assigned to Neyja I, Neyja II, Uuyi I, and Uuyi II respectively. When any of them detected the indications of a fold, they would act, interdict, and engage. Should they appear in the midst of allied forces, their Anti-Fleet Wepaon, however, would be useless. That was a danger of folding half-blindly...but their IES wouldn't permit them to fold inside any mass, thankfully.

In an effort to shield Hotaru from further attack, Kokoro-Juni kept the YSS Kappa at Hotaru and engaged the Aleet Interdiction Device in its defense. It synchronized with Hotaru's and Himitsu's PANT-IES so as to cooperate with the 5th XF's folding and CDD strategies, pulsing on and off if necessary. For now however, an interdiction field roughly 2.6 AU in diameter was defending Hotaru, Himitsu, and any allied vessels within proximity...those folding attacks the enemy had been employing had just gotten a great deal more difficult. Also, it could defeat interdiction efforts by the enemy.

Five Irims (NG-X5-83 through NG-X5-86, and NG-X5-91 through NG-X5-93) calculated possible fold positions for the new fleet, prepared to drop their interdiction fields and attack at the earliest signs of a fold in progress, just as their sister Irims were assigned to do, while the two remaining Irims (NG-X5-94 and NG-x5-95) folded and attacked. NG-X5-94 was alligned to take out the Neyja I and II in one shot, while NG-X5-95 was alligned to take down Uuyi I and Uuyi II in their line of fire. If this failed, they'd escape with CDD if possible. They also wanted to take down as many of Qeh I~V as possible.

For the waiting Irims, they bided their time by dodging attacks and using their Weapons Pods to fight back against the attacking forces. They also made sure to fire alternating rounds of SDM and AS-5 torpedoes as well as Positron Railguns at their assigned ships. NG-X5-83 through NG-X5-87 were attacking Togi IV, V, VI, VII respectively, and NG-X5-88 through NG-X5-93 were showing their muscle to Qeh V~X. NG-X5-96 through NG-X5-98 were attacking whatever enemy targets revealed opportunity within the Togi/Qeh assault, assigned to Hotaru Protection and subsequent contingency plans.

Assisting the Irim and protecting the YSS Kappa were 9 Sakura Gunships, (NG-X5-221 and NG-X5-223 through NG-X5-229). Again, they were assigned to Togi IV, V, VI, VII and Qeh V~X respectively, attacking with their own Rail Guns or Electron Countermeasures, Weapons Pods, Aether Pods, and when the opportunity to attack without risking allies arose, their Aether Shock Arrays.

2 Kyoto (NK-X5-24 and NK-X5-25), each with 5 Arashi Escorts (NE-X5-126 through NE-X5-136) each presided over the assaults on the Togi and Qeh forces, coordinating the Irim and Sakura further, and having the Arashi assist the Irim by firing their own Positron Cannons, Projected Aerther Beams, and SDM and AS-7 torpedoes at the enemy. Weapons Pods were also utilized. AS-5, AS-7, and Weapon Pods flew at the ships, trying to exploit any holes in shielding the SDMs may have created.

The two Kyoto presided, one over the Togi, and the other on the Qeh. They pounded the enemy with Missiles, Projected Energy Beams, and Subspace Encased Positiron Cannons, but did not take excessive risks...they generally let the Arashi force the enemy to keep their distance, intervening HARSHLY when necessity demanded.

The lone Yuumi (NB-X5-03) acted as a third node of command, commanding nine more Arashi (NE-X5-137 to NE-X5-145), each attacking one of the Togi or Qeh enemies just like their sister Arashi. With three nodes of command and four ships assigned to attack each Mishhu, they would find they had a rough fight on their hands--and the YSS Kappa prevented their escape.

The YSS Asuka and the YSS Kappa were protected by four remaining Arashi (NE-X5-146 through NE-X5-150) in addition to being in relatively close proximity to the Yuumi. The Yuumi and the Arashi near the YSS Asuka and the YSS Kappa defended against any attackers which may have slid through the brutal three-dozen ship force.

Each Power Armor was assigned to fight pods released from each ship assigned, or to try and sneak through the SDM holes in the enemy ship's hull and wreak havoc if they so chose. Most left this latter choice to the Weapon Pods or the AS-5/AS-7 torpedoes.

Three Nozomi (NS-X5-227 through NS-X5-229) and Two Arashi (NE-X5-151-NE-X5-153) placed themselves under the Asamoya's command, and proceeded toward the enemy force on a different vector, so as not to compromise Asamoya's stealth. They may also act as a distraction, so Asamoya could more easily engage.

The Yuumi (NB-X5-03), with nearly no wearning, engaged a minimal interdiction defeat effort and vanished, using its CDD to appear behind the crippled Mishhu Battleship, leaving the 9 Arashi under its command to operate under the Asuka and the 2 Kyoto. As the Irims arrived to engage the Neyja and Uuyi units, the Yuumi arrived in an odd-yet-calculated angle behind the battleship, powering its Interdiction Device. The powerless vessel was the target of the Yuumi's most powerful attack, the mighty Legacy Cannon, one the Irims had been instructed to expect, and had amended their arrival positions.

The attack would hopefully destroy ships in close proximity to the battleship, or destroy them entirely...

After the assault, Weapons Pods would be deployed to clean up and defend the big bruiser YSA ships.

The Mishhu managed to destroy 2 Arashi (NE-X5-127-NE-X5-133) and a lone Sakura (NG-X5-224), but the Mishhu had made a tactical error, swarming a force in excess of four times their size.

Hotaru took more damage than Yaichiro originally thought, a blackened spot on the majestic form of the Fortress--the Zesanium manufacturing facility damaged by the collision and explosion of Togi III...

Adding to Asamoya's command: Three Nozomi (NS-X5-227 through NS-X5-229) and Two Arashi (NE-X5-151-NE-X5-153)

Caine guided the 17th minimal communications, to swarm the ships the Asuka was barraging with SMD fire. The “Reaper” would send a communication to the Asuka itself and it’s makeshift squadron: “Asuka, we’re going in to take out the Qweh VI!” he said to it and the others. He’d seen an opportunity to take out a ship and had moved the wing to attack one of the Qweh, to capitalize on the hail of fire from the other ships. The 17th would hurdle toward their target, blasting the enemies along the way, carving a swath of destruction, as they’d rush to do what they were planning. Suffering some damage and a small amount of loss but nothing significant just yet, the armors would slip around the fire and penetrated Qweh VI’s shield thanks to an SMD-created hole and moved to encircle it at around the midsection of the ship.

Once they were in position, the entirety of the wing would stand upon the hull of the ships and fire their aetheric weaponry and moved in a sawing fashion. Using the mishhu’s own shields to protect them from incoming fire, the Kasairyuu would quickly and efficiently cut the destroyer in half while other teams of them began to fire their rifles and scalar pulse arrays through the hull and into the ship to facilitate it’s destruction.

Once the ship began to go up, they’d break away from the destroyer and regroup to fight off the pods and armors from the others, pulling back to draw them into the covering fire of the Asuka and it’s makeshift squadron. Caine himself spotting a command Ripper nearby and engaged his stealth, blinking off the sensors for a moment and seemed to reappear on them behind the armor. With a energetic slash of the scythe, the commander would meet a gruesome fate of being sliced in half while Caine engaged his stealth again and hurried back amount his wing that was firing upon the fallen commander’s armors.

"'Aye aye," Koharu quickly replied as she disconnected from the pilot's seat and hopped into the Tactical Systems chair that was to the left of the pilot's seat and started monitoring the Asamoya's shields.

"Captain, we have 5 incoming encrypted transmissions from the Noz 227, Noz 228, Noz 229; Ara 151 and Ara 152, they are all requesting your orders. Where do you want me to send them?"

Kage-Taii, Hara-Heisho is apparently to exhausted to fight. He is currently in our quarters, sleeping. It might be for the best. I'm on my way to the armor bay to suit up and launch on your command. Ichiro mentally sent him, pouring on full speed to the armor bays, hoping he wasn't too late to help.

Understood. He worked really hard last mission, and stayed over to guard...we'll let him rest as long as possible. All remaining Power Armor Pilots sortie and assist the 17th. Follow Ionoche-Shoi's orders unless I specify otherwise.

Yaichiro replied, still commanding a multifaceted assault telepathically...It was something he'd never done before, commanding a force of 56 ships, his mind immersed in MEGAMI...

Asuka's PA pilots have been temporarily assigned to follow Caine's orders as extensions of the 17th. Yaichiro's orders still supersede Caine's.

BSIA HQ, Hotaru Star Fortress

“You okay Misato?” Chie examined the Shôshô as she sat in the chair across from her. The Iori rumbled as the battle raged on outside, Misato didn’t say anything in response-she picked up her datapad and headed towards the lift. Chie sighed and followed.

Minutes later they were in BSIA’s operation center which was abuzz with activity as they coordinated to position soliders on the Iori in the event they were boarded. Civilians had been relocated to safe zones in the habitat area; all available personnel were either at their stations or reporting to the nearest armory for distribution.

Patrols of Blackcoats accompanied by Samurai and Mindy 1H moved through the corridors in set patterns, while others remained stationary guarding critical areas.

Hanabusa Holding Area 10

Charge!!!! Our benefactors are awaiting us! The group of enlisted soldiers charged the group of Blackcoats; NSP shots rang out as the floor was littered with the wounded and dead. They had overcome their first obstacle, but sadly the security doors slid open to reveal the Mindy 1H and another group of Blackcoats.

Oh my….

The blood churtling screams resounded through the corridor.

Back at BSIA HQ

They ran the barricade we didn’t have a choice….
The Shoi reported over the comm.

Misato sighed, staring at the volumetric map in front of her. “Make sure that the same thing doesn’t have to happen in the other holding areas. We need these people alive—so they can be questioned.”

Hai Shôshô.
The comm. disconnected.

Hai, Kage-Taii. Ichiro replied, reaching the armor bay and his PA. He got ready quickly and jumped in. Turning to the armory, he got all of the biggest, yet high ammo weapons he could find. "Kobayashi Ichiro, launching to help the 17th." he told the ship and who ever needed to know, before doing so, and headed that way as fast as he could.

Robert Davis brought the glass of water to his lips, the pure, chilled liquid sluicing out of the glass and providing relief to his parched throat. The aged Nepleslian lacked the simple advantages that Nekovalkyrjia took for granted, a thought that crossed the mind of the Grand Admiral as he slid the half-full glass to the side of the desk.

He arrived late, and did not want to intrude himself on his gracious company, so he had elected to retire to his assigned quarters. His brown eyes ran across the suite, locking on the comfy-looking bed topped with feather blankets and pillows—the accommodations were, indeed, quite nice.

He had pulled off his military jacket, resting it on the back of the chair next to him, his cap a companion that rested on the seat’s leather cushion. His datapad sat on his lap as he absently scratched through his white undershirt with the tip of an electronic pen.

His gifts had made it securely to Hotaru: several crates of Nepleslian food and spirits awaited Katsuko. Davis nodded approvingly at the list of wine had handpicked for the Taisho. Fine spirits for a powerful figure, a gesture of goodwill he hoped wouldn’t go unnoticed.

For all the speechmaking in the world, sometimes the little things carried the most weight. They seemed genuine, more… human… than the pomp of big words.

The huge rumble that shook him in his chair also shook him out of his thoughts. It seemed that the battle was getting closer. Through the scream of sirens and orders and the cacophony of sound that signaled an evacuation of civilians to a safer location, the Grand Admiral sat with his thoughts.

It had been some time since he had been in a battle, but the memories were fresh in his mind. No wonder he had been looking through a cargo manifest he had long before memorized. Such compulsive activity was the way of a soldier, no matter what age.

Aim. Fire. Reload.

Aim. Fire. Reload.

Aim. Fire. Reload.

But the impact of the SMX ship which had collided with Hotaru made him look up. His glass had shattered on the floor. He had meant to be polite—one normally left a captain to his or her vessel—but there seemed no more reason to sit idle.

FOR YOUR EYES ONLY.

Vice Admiral Veles:

My message will be brief.

I have successfully arrived at Hotaru Star Fortress.

Unfortunately, so have the SMX, who are taking great pleasure in attacking this sector of space. I pray that Captain Moore can keep the NSS Eclipse safe during the battle.

Bring this information to High Command so that our next course of action can be discussed.

I must now speak with the Taisho.

-ROBERT DAVIS

In a matter of moments, the Grand Admiral was fully clothed once more, cane in hand as he swiftly walked out the door.

“Excuse me, Hotaru, could you direct me to the location of Motoyoshi-Taisho?”

Caine and his wing kept the pressure on the enemy armors and pods with barrages of aetheric fire from their rifles and melee weapons when they managed to avoid the shots. They were staying close to the Asuka group to blend in and use their shields for cover from the pod fire. The skirmisher tactics of hit and run worked quite well against the enemy, mowing them down as they drew in close. Caine locked onto one of the Togi IV's engines and let rip with a blast from his particle beam cannons, piercing through a few pods and smashing into the gunship's hull once he got clear enough form the friendly units to fire such a weapon.

About 300 or so others launched their own attacks on the gunship, aiming for the same approximent spot while Caine had to recharge the cannons and would fire them again when he was able to. His other wing mates providing cover from the more mobile enemies. When he read Ichiro and the others coming from the Asuka he sent a message. "Make sure those mindys have the dragonfly configurations. Ichiro, focus on fighting the pods." he said.

Noboru was waiting as usual, worrying about his upcoming re-training, chastizing by the Taii and hopes and prayers that he would remain in the Star Army without being made an example of.

Noboru here, in the med-lab. Where're the wounded and when will they be coming in? He emphasized the last sentence with gusto and hoped he would be able to do something without screwing up royally.
