Aft of the Away Team's position one the ships blast shutters was deployed sealing off the aft section. Forward near the starboard lift and a cross junction, the form of a person in a Star Army Uniform was lying face down, a pool of blood surrounding the form.

Tomas took a moment to collect himself. Even though he knew this was a simulation, the explosion in the storage room had brought back feelings from the battle of UX-25. When the cargo bay he had been in had taken a hit. He watched one of the infantry die almost instantly as his body was slashed by debris. That was then, I need to focus. I'm a soldier this is what we do. Even a cook has to face combat, he thought to himself.

Diligent, this is Away Team actual. There was an internal explosion and the atmosphere is showing physical signs of decompression. Even if there’s no obvious external sign of a breech, there’s no point in risking it. Proceed as per the plan. We’ll link up later for evac, over.” Eun-Kyung turned, pinging her comrades for the sensor feed from their NSDs. “Caution is the watch-word people. There are lots of ways to cause trouble aboard ship. Let’s not expose ourselves and make it any easier for the OPFOR.” She grimaced, unseen inside her helmet, as the sensor feeds showed the friendly casualty down the passageway. “Okay, keep weapons discipline tight for now; no stray emissions to give us away. Haruhi-Juni, get us an order of movement and on the move. Yukimura-Hei, you are handling the triage of friendlies. Do a remote examination of her,” she designated the casualty in the data feed, “for now. A physical overview will have to wait until we’re in position.”

Toranaga shifted uneasily and followed the group trying his best not to gnash his teeth with anxiety. As he kept pace his fingers laced around his type 31 scanner. After having just slipped in the life-form scanner unit he switched the 31 to ‘operate’ mode. Stopping for a moment he quickly ran a basic scan of the interior. When the results chimed in he quickened his pace to catch up to the group “detecting 30 life forms.” He said.

Inside the Kujiki the sound of air escaping increased in pitch and intensity. Just before the shuttle could disengage a large section of the hull tore free. There was a momentary blast of hurricane like wind as the atmosphere inside the ship rushed out the opening. Seconds later the hatch automatically closed and sealed.

"Aye Actual, preparing to disengage and take up a position at the secondary extraction..." Kim replied in the Diligent as she prepared to disengage the strike module from the ship. The sound of tortured metal reverberated through the shuttle. "Unci..." she swore. A large section of the hull that the shuttle was attached to broke free and the Diligent tumbled. Kim deftly controlled the shuttle to stop the tumbling. She then instructed the strike module to release the hull section. She performed a quick diagnostic check. "Away Team, as you no doubt saw, the hull blew out in that chamber. Shuttle systems are okay, I am proceeding to backup extraction point," she sent. Once clear she accelerated the shuttle away from the ship and set a course for the secondary extraction point.

Hoshi winced as the air flew out into space. He braced himself and managed to stay on his feet -- he doubted the friendly was alive anymore, even if it had been just beforehand.

At least its lungs aren't hanging out. He thought, making a drone hover and scan the body remotely.

"From what I can see," Hoshi said slowly, "This one's a casualty."

The casualty was a blue haired Yamataian female. The NSD showed that the person had numerous deep slashes across parts of the body. One of the slashes cut the upper arm down to the bone. The body appeared cool on the drone so the person had been dead for awhile.

"Confirmed." Hoshi said, "She's dead, Ma'am."

He closed his eyes, sending a silent prayer for the dead. It didn't matter that it was a hologram -- the effect was the same on the Medic.

He pulled his drone back, and waited for more orders.

“Solid copy, Diligent. Catch you later. Away Team, out.” Banishing the shuttle from her mind, Eun-Kyung pulled up Yukimura’s sensor feed, showing the cold, dead body. “All right, Yukimura-Hei. Tag the location for later retrieval,” she said. The briefing for the exercise hadn’t mentioned the surrounding larger tactical context, so Eun-Kyung really had no way of knowing whether post-mission salvage and recovery was practical. Still, keeping track of KIAs was the honorable thing to do and making the practice a habit was a plus. She turned away, glancing back at the other members of the team. “Toranaga-Hei, try to see if you can tie any energy emissions to those life signs. If you can, tentatively label them as hostiles.” Peeking briefly at her tactical map, she frowned; their position wasn’t exactly secure. “The rest of you, let’s pick up the pace and keep with the mission profile.”

The NSD's that were down the corridor detected movement. A drone of unfamiliar design came floating down the side corridor. The drone started emitting a jamming field.

Tomas moved up to the next structural support and took a braced stand with his LAS gun waiting for a target while waiting for someone else to move up.

Asi crept forward, moving up in such a way as to keep his LAS pointed steadily down the hall. He took aim at the drone, but didn't fire, waiting for the order.

“Check fire, check fire,” said Eun-Kyung preemptively even as she swung her rifle up to her shoulder. She doubted that the crew, who had already proven to keep their cool, would open fire on the drone, but she wanted to make sure in any case. “Wait until we make hard contact with an actual hostile. Anyway, they already know we’re here.” Keeping the majority of her focus on the targeting reticule settled over the drone, she glanced briefly at the feed showing the activity to her rear. “Let’s get a move on people. Haruhi-Juni, get us moving! We need to be advancing, now!”

Keep your panties on, white-pin. As much as she would have liked to share this sentiment with the rest of the crew Haruhi bit down on the remark and kept her feelings to herself. “Im'inao, Yukimura, move up to the cross-ship passage and take up position either side to provide cover down it,” she eyed the drone, none too happy about letting it float about as it pleased.

“From there Eun-Kyung takes half and continues up this side and the rest comes cross-ship with me. Remember to keep to cover, don't move unless you know where you're stopping, and keep out of each other's lines of fire; let's roll.”

Asine nodded, and moved up, checking down the hallway ahead of him, then peeking around his own corner, checking for hostiles. "All clear here, ma'am." He crouched in his corner, aiming down the hallway across from him, relying on his cover and Yukimura to watch his other side.

Hoshi moved up along the opposite wall of Asine, stopping just short of crossing in front of the open hallway. He leveled his weapon to face forward -- Asine had the hallway.

He then waited.

Eun-Kyung couldn't keep herself from whirling about to stare at Haruhi; her temper sparked off too hotly to stop it. Fortunately, she was able to stop the rebuke forming on her tongue from actually being verbalized. Eun-Kyung? Eun-Kyung?! I haven't even given her permission to use my name, let alone drop honorifics! With a little huff of anger, she pushed the last of the sentiment to the bottom of her awareness - though only by promising herself to bring it up later, after the mission.

Returning to the task at hand, she again mentally questioned the Juni, though this time over splitting up their forces. But the passageways were a little crowded for six Mindys and as long as the teams stayed close together, on the same deck, she didn't see any harm. “Okay, Anderson-Hei, Toranaga-Hei,” she said, nodding to her team. “On the move.” Keeping her rifle at her shoulder, she sprinted past Yukimura and Im'inao at the first cross-ship passageway opening and carried on up the starboard corridor, stopping at the forward opening. She ordered an NSD to peek around the corner, and immediately recalled it as it detected two hostiles. “Contact! Soft contact. Two hostiles at the far end of the forward cross-passageway. Get in position, people.”

One of the hostiles the NSD saw was enclosed in some sort of armor. It was humanoid in appearance. It looked to be crude and bulky in construction, and stood at just over seven feet tall. The armor was dark gray with black streaks possibly a form of camouflage. It raised its left arm and a blast of energy destroying the drone and illuminating the hallway at the end of the (2nd) cross-ship passageway.

A moment later a figure entered the port side of the 1st passageway, and fired a salvo from its right arm. Six small metallic discs came streaking towards the Aeon members. Some of the struck the passageway walls and emitted a shower of sparks. One of the discs grazed the shoulder section of Asine's Mindy and embedded itself in the wall behind him.

Another of the discs sliced one of the cables hanging from the ceiling causing a shower of sparks to be emitted as the cable severed and came in contact with the nearby metal.

Tomas at Haruhi's urging had moved up to a position just short of the cross-ship passage way. One of the discs slammed into his LAS rifle embedding itself 3 cm into it. The "Shit, my rifles been damaged, I'm switching to forearm weapon." he said slinging the damaged weapon over his shoulder.

Asi, already steadied, and braced for the shot, barely even flinched when the disc hit his shoulder. So long as there's no actual damage, right? Instead, he fired his LAS gun in burst mode, aiming to hit the enemy armor in the center of its chest.

Hoshi backed away from the wall, staring at the disc.

He launched the rest of his drones and shot the first two across, firing down the hallway wildly. Taking from what he saw through the drones, he shot the last of them across, firing again, this time hopefully a bit more accurately.

"Two contacts down the first passage!" He called out.

He maneuvered himself to be close behind Asine along the wall, giving him some space in case the other Santo Hei needed to jerk back. And if he got hit... Well, Hoshi was close enough to pull him back.

The shots against the first intruder in the first passageway encountered a suit generated force field that reduced the effectiveness of the attacks. Even with the reduction the intruders armor was struck with considerable force.

The intruder then detached something from the waist of the armor and tossed it to the intersection. The device was spherical and had a blinking indicator that ran along the enter of it. The blinking was increasing in frequency.

Asine blinked inside his armor when he saw the armor detaching something, but decided quickly that he didn't want to be nearby when whatever it was that ball did happened. He dove back in the direction he came from, but aiming for the center of the hall, so that the corner ahead of him might take the hit for him. "Everyone, watch out, he just dropped something in the hallway ahead!"
