Katae looked at those that had arrived, they were still short a few more of the crew.
"Yes, we have arrived at AX-01, and began our initial survey. However, on our second orbit, we detected a distress beacon. There is a ship down on the surface. I will let our SSS Liaison take over the briefing at this point." She said.
Josea stood up and activated the volumetric display. The image showed a white hull set against a green background. "The beacon identified the vessel as the YSS Genus, registration YX-C1-0012. Enhancement of the visual scan confirmed the hull registration." He touched the ICP he held and the image enlarged.
"The Genus was enroute to a system the Aeon had previously explored. Specifically UX-27, she was part of a four ship expedition that was launched just prior to the start of the war. Saiki Kouan had sent a recall order for all Tansaku-Class ships. The expedition leaders decided that each vessel would make their own way to safety. The Genus failed to report to Gemini Starfortress and has been listed as missing.
The Genus was carrying a maximum compliment of 72 persons. Attempts to contact the ship have been unsuccessful. The imagery shows that they deployed the CRDM and had started working on what appear to be some ruins near the landing site. There is no obvious damage to the Genus.
Sensors show now sign of active settlements, and the environment appears safe.
I knew several of the people in the crew, and the expedition. That's all I have to report ma'am." Josea sat down.
Katae looked around the crew. "Well, it would appear that we have a mystery, our exploration mission has just turned into a possible rescue.
Until we have a better idea of what is going on, I deployed a VCMAD-AIR on our last pass. We will send down an Away Team in the Diligent our T7 Shuttle. Power Armors, and weaponry will be determined by Oshiro-Heisho. All Infantry are to go down, Yamamoto and O'Kutsuu-Hei will come down as they are starship qualified. Kage-Hei will be required as well for medical. We need to know what happened down there, to the ship and the people.
We will be in position for shuttle departure in 15 minutes. Any questions?"
