RP: 21st Fighter Sq [Mission 3.1] Menace in the dark

Akagane

Elisto watched the piece float away for a moment before turning his attention to his new problem. He glanced about the room to see about finding a piece of metal that was four foot wide and four foot across.

"Storage should have something," he said and kicked off the deck and floated out into the corridor and into the storage room, then started looking around a piece of metal roughly the size he needed.

Akagane

A survey of the room showed there were no heavy plates of a size large enough. The closest thing would be the thin metal covering of the machinery in the module. If Elisto could find a way to shore up the flimsy panels for him to pressurize the module.

Errowyn followed the instructions of Scrambler, till she was in postion on the Akagane. She was seeing better and began to run diangotics on her ship to see if she could get her systems back on line.

"Scrambler, I am gonna do a complete systems reboot to get my scanners and other systems back online again," as she began to shut non-essentual systems down and restarting them one at a time to see if she could get them working again.Starting with the scanners and CFS system.

She caught movment from in her pepherial vision, and looked, seeing an object float away from the side of the ship.

"Something just left the Akagane!" she couldn't make it out clearly as the object floated beyond her returning eyesight.

Akagane

Elisto pondered what to do as he examined the room and came to his one and only option, which was to work with the panels that he was seeing on some of the machinery he had noticed around him. He closed his eyes, floating in zero-gravity up toward the ceiling; he then outstretched his hand and placed the palm up before pushing himself toward the ground below.

He maneuvered over to a piece of machinery in the room over, looking at its thin metal housing and removing a plate, it came off easily with an inaudible 'snap'

Releasing the plate, he allowed it to free float in the air while using a finger to spin it around to see its dimensions. "To thin," he said and looked at the other panels on the machine. "However, maybe I can get it to work," he snatched the panel out of the air and then moved back over to the machine.

Carefully he removed several more of the thin metal sheets from the various machines in his area. When he was done, he had several to work with and knew that he had a few more in case he needed them. Though they weren't exactly to the size he had wanted, he knew what he had to do to make it work and headed back into the room where he had cut the hole.

Examining the hole one last time, he nodded at himself with a plan. He took two pieces and placed them together and checked their depth. "mmmm...." he muttered to himself. "This may or may not work, though," he looked around the room to see if he could find two large metal bars, though he was hoping to find four instead and began to search the module.

"I see it, scanners show its some kind of beacon. We'll let it get a bit further way from the Akagane, and take it out." Scrambler said.

As Errowyn's initiated the reboot of the Kawarime's system she was plunged into near complete darkness as all the lights went off in the cockpit. A tense minute later the monitors came back online, and seconds later successfully restored her sensors to operation.

The first thing that her system displayed was multiple targets approaching on an intercept course. A second later the targets were identified as the Yamato and its escorts, two light seconds out and closing.

There were some bars, which were part of the processing equipment. A number of two meter rods were strewn around system.

"These will do," said Elisto as he picked up some of the rods and brought them over to where heh ad the plates. He then got into his knees and arranged the plates in the order that he needed them in order to effect the repair job.

Igniting the wielding tool, he got to work. Wielding two plates together and then setting them aside before repeating the process three more times. Then he picked out several of the rods he brought and two additional plates and melting the ends of them to form molten metal to help affix the rods to the metal plates. He knew this might take a bit more time, as he wanted to make certain the reinforcements were secure and that they wouldn't come apart. A technician might do a better job of this, but oh well,.

After some time, he finished and looked at the plate and nodded to himself, it wasn't the 'best' job he had seen others do but it would have to suffice. "Now to wield it to the hole, and hope it stays when I pressurize the moduel," he said and lifted the large plate and moved it over to the hole.

Then he started getting to work on wielding it in place.

While Elisto worked to apply his hull patch, the other crew members were busy working to restore at least some of the primary systems. Halfway through his efforts he felt the gravity start to come back. It seemed that the system was giving them about half normal gravity. And they restored enough thruster control to bring the ship out of its tumble.

"Richardson to all hands. We are continuing to effect repairs, the hostiles for the time being appear to have withdrawn, and our forces are coming to assist us." came across the communicators.

Errowyn sighed with relief when her system came active again and nearly freaked when multiple targets appeared on her scanners. She took a deep breath as the targets were identifide as friendly.

Smiling as confidence filled her at realizing she survived her first life and death encounter outside the controlled enviroment of the testing regime.

She was "blooded" now. Mentally reviewing the past fight and all of her actions to find the weak spots to improve on.

Seeing the Akagane stop tumbling as it manuever thrusters began to function.

"Taii Richardson. The Yamato has arrived to render assistance. Please follow instruction from Yamato Flight Operation." Errowyn politely contacted the Akagane.

Watching the destruction of the beacon by Scrambler, she relaxed, yet still alert for more hidden surprizes.

With the final wield in place, Elisto took a variable step back and examined his handy work. After a moment, he went back over and fixed a small wield that he saw was improperly done and taking a piece of unused plate and melting the ends to form the molten needed to fix his little mistake.

Once finished, he backed away into the corridor and to the main entrance. Then counted to three before starting up the pressurization process. If this doesn't work I'll know in just a few seconds, he commented as he trapped the side of the doors frame. Though, I am surprised that intruder didn't plant any booby-traps near his hiding place, he looked back down the corridor and waited patiently.

The atmosphere in the mining module started to fill in. Elisto's patch made a few creaks and bangs as it adjusted to having interior pressure pushing it outward toward the vacuum. When the chamber reached standard atmosphere, the plate held in placed. A momentary check even showed there was no hissing of air from any of the welds.

Elisto let out a sigh when he found that his welds were holding up, he made certain to make a note in the system to let the techs know about this patchwork so that they could do a better job.

"Taii? Tereane-Hei here, mining module is secure. Beacon has been cut away and the hull is patched, found a small sleeping area from our intruder and found two items of interest," he sent as he stepped back into the main ship and let out a sigh of relief. "What do you need me to assist with sir?"

Akagane

"Start by securing all the items you got from the intruder. Then I suggest you start working on your report. We aren't going to be able to more than some basic repairs and the techs are handling them.

When the Yamato arrives, I am pretty sure they are going to want a report from you."

Akagane

"Yes sir," was all Elisto said in response as he removed the book from his belt and looked it over for a moment before putting it back and making his way to his assigned cabin.

When he stepped inside he stretched his arms before putting them down to his side and taking out his ICP and booting it up. "Might as well start on that report and get things sorted before the Yamato arrives, not to metion," he stopped and removed the two items from his belt. "I won't be able to report much on this book until I can decypher it," he looked at the book before turning his attention to his ICP's screan. He then swithced off his glasses, having completely forgotten that he had kept them on. Well, at least there will be 'plenty' of footage to show, perhaps to much actually but well at least I didn't miss a beat, he then started the transfer of the footage from his glasses to his ICP though he made certain that his ICP was well secured.

While that was going on; he turned his attention to the knife and book and began to examine both items very closely. The knife, as he had thought before, was of great interest to him - but the book was more so. "A journal perhaps or a log of events," he taped his chin thoughtfully.

Errowyn smiled as she ran final checks on her system and they were checking out fine. She looked through the scanner logs to see what caused the majority of the Kawarine's systems to shut down.

Humming an odd tune she picked up somewhere that stuck in her mind when she heard it as she went about her work and watching her assigned sector.

From what Kerrowyn could determine, the plasmoid that she flew through caused the various sensor systems to shut down due to overload on their input paths. The reboot appeared to have been the most expedient because the Kawarime's CFS was keeping some of those energies trapped within.

After a while the approaching starships arrived. The Yamato resplendent with this running lights. "Search and Rescue team, return to launch bay. Deploying Kainushi tugs to bring the Akagane safely aboard. Once they have secured the ship we will be getting under way for Libra Star Fortress."

Yamato

Errowyn was happy to finaly land and do the post flight checks and services on her Kawarine after giving the Squadron Commander a complete debrief on the mission she just went on. Keeping it simple and to the truth, so the techs and scientist could check her assigned Kawarine she flew and the plasmiod energies that Kawarine was carrying still within it system.

She was questioned indepth on every event that happened during the Search And Rescue she went on. Then it was off for a complete physical and psych evaluation that all new rookies go through after their first sortie.

The book seemed reluctant to yield up its secrets to Elisto. The writing was in the form of a an alien kanji. Trying to decipher them without a key was impossible. The only things he could easily make out were some of the drawings. Some were pictures of the Akagane from the outside on a field. A few were of the interior with markings in the same cryptic language. There were also pictures of feline people going about various tasks.

Elisto's research into the book was interrupted when he felt the ship settle down inside the bay of the Yamato. Followed by a call across the ship's intercom for all crew members to gather their possessions and disembark.

Akagane docked to Yamato

Elisto took a partial glance at the ceiling from the feeling he was getting. The announcement that came a moment later caused him to stop his investigation and report writing, even though he was already partway done, having the footage from his glasses helped immensely though he knew his superiors might question him for not being more 'attentive'.

It was annoying to him that the book wasn't willing to reveal it's true nature, but he could make some subtle thoeries already based off what he saw. This bastard was probably keeping a pretty firm eye on the Akagane for quite awhile, probably a few days if not a few weeks maybe. Just lying in wait for a chance to strike, he then started rubbing his chin thoughtfully, could me coming on board at the right moment have been mere chance or did something - or someone - guide my hand? the question lingered in his mind as he got up from his bunk and finished packing his things and then slung his pack over his shoulder.

Before leaving, he quickly changed his AMES suit and grabbed a clean one, in the event he was ordered to make his report right away right when he got off the ship.

He knew it was possible, he was the only intelligence operative on board and thus it was his job to monitor and keep track of everything that went on. Not to mention that he was the one who had seen everything that went on, fought the intruder and then killed him - even though killing him wasn't his intention from the beginning, he just wanted to capture the bastard. Then again, the bastard self-terminated himself, so capture wasn't going to be possible, and with nothing left of the body or his suit it's rather pointless to request to bring the body aboard.. ughs.. frustrating, with the shake of his head he took one final look at the room he had been assigned just hours earlier and then headed toward the ships main exit.

Everyone was talking about the newest visiters aboard the Yamato and some of the heroics the starfighters had performed in fighting off at least a whole squadron of fighters which Errowyn knew there was like eight of them at the most. And she knew at least she was credited with two confirm kills and a damaged Kawarine which the Techs were going over it very carefully along with several scientist to find a way to prevent what had happened to Errowyn's fighter.

All she wanted to do was relax and have a meal. If there was time still, go down to the flight deck to lend a hand on working on her Kawarine. Hopefully have it ready by the next sorty to come up.

Even the thought of another sorty, made the butterflies come alive in her stomach with another surge of adreneline. She had mixed feelings about it. But if duty called for her to go out again, so be it.

She paused at a terminal and checked to see if she was attached to any flight team. Seeing she was now part of Scrambler's wing, she would fall under his schedule in the bullpen as the first to go out. She sighed as now she had reason to go check out her fighter, eat, and get rest before she was on duty again for the next mission.

She picked up her pace, taking note she was closer to the mess than the flightdecks, eat first, and then go check up on her Kawarine or the next available Kawarine that was slotted for her if she couldn't get the one she used.

Across the PA system, the following came out of the speakers.
"Yumeoibito-Hei, Tereane-Hei, Report immediately to Ikeda-Taisa immediately in his office."
