RP: 21st Fighter Sq [Mission 3.1] Menace in the dark

Kamato took the alien weapon and jammed a piece of metal into the trigger then tossed it across the room, so that it continued to fire. He then moved towards the doorway and prepared to open the door and roll out of the room.

Elisto noticed the constant scream of fire, and thought for a moment as it continued in one direction before it suddnely occured to him, though the patting of steps also gave it away as he aimed his pistol in that direction for a brief moment and fired a couple shots. "Taii! Seal the main door and maintenance hatch into the storage area please!" he sent quickly before turning his pistol toward the shelve that had the metal plate with a small amount of plastic explosive still on it and fired.

As the door to the storage room opened, the explosive charge went off. The force of the explosion was rebounded by the walls of the room, and vented out the only opening, the doorway. Kamato found himself launched across the hallway where he slammed into the wall. He felt several of his ribs break from the impact.

He considered running, but decided that he would make his stand here. He brought his coil gun up and kept it trained at the doorway. If the Jugal came out of the room he would end it.

Elisto continued running for the door, his ears partly ringing from his little trap that he had pulled, "Nevermind sir,". He knew right away that the explosion would've gotten someone elses attention onboard the ship, and he also realized that doing such a thing was stupid as he could've put everyone's lives at risk.

As he continued to run he suddenly noticed the intruder and dove to one side to avoid being hit while firing off a series of shots.

Smoke billowed from the storage room as numerous items that were stored in it were combustible and were now burning freely. Elisto's NSP shots caught the intruder in the chest, knocking it across the floor even as Elisto dove for cover.

Elisto blinked and looked over his shoulder, realizing for the second time just how much of a mistake it had been to detonate an explosive inside the storage area. Ahh geez, Taii is really going to rip my ass a new one, he thought before coming out from behind the door and staring at the intruder, who had taken a hit to the chest from his fire.

He approuched the man carefully, cautiously, and looked him over. He wasn't going to send a message just yet to the Taii incase the man still had some fight in him.

The intruder showed no sign of movement, its 'space suit' showing the burn mark where Elisto's shots caught it in the chest.

From the storage room a loud whining sound could be heard, followed by a massive electrical discharge that bounced across the deck like lighting. The lights in the crew section failed when the bolts struck them.

Then there was a painful squeal from Elisto's communicator as its workings shorted out, and his NSP started to smoke.

Elisto looked down at his pistol and let out a long sigh, "Oh you have 'got' to be joking me," he turned around and back into the storage room. I was so focused on catching this bastard I completely forgot that device, ughs.. he shook his head at his own mistake.

He put his pistol away, even know it was pretty much useless right now.

"Tereane-hei, intruder is down Taii but he left a parting gift, EMP bomb was detonated down here," he said via encrypted telepathy.

Systems aboard the Akagane began shutting down either due to damage from the EMP or by the safeties engaging to protect systems. Ship wide the gravity systems went offline, the reactor systems scrammed and the mining ship was once again without power.

Elisto found himself floating in the crew area with the only source of lighting the orange flickers from the fire in the storage room. The emergency lamps failed to come on most likely because they had been blown out by the lighting.

"Richardson to all hands. We have experienced a ship wide power failure. Effect repairs immediately, coordinate your actions with the XO." came telepathically to all hands.

Elisto spent a few seconds oriented himself on the zero-gravity, before looking over his shoulder at the fire. I'll have to take care of that shortly before it becomes a real problem, but first, he turned to the downed intruder and began to check him over for any other surprises.

With the gravity disabled, the fire in the storage room took on an alien quality. Instead of the flames reaching towards the ceiling they reach out in all directions like flaming tentacles, drawn by oxygen.

--------------------

Meanwhile the YSS Yamato, Flagship for Mikasa Sorano, the Taisho of the 2XF was heading back to their home base when they received a weak garbled transmissions.

YSS Akagane to any Star Army Vessel.... have sustained.... damage, intruder has sabotaged.... failure of primary.... systems...

The Taisho ordered the fleet to drop into normal space and send out Search and Rescue teams. Given how weak the signal was they had to be in the general area of the stricken craft.

Elisto shot a glance over his shoulder at the fire and it's odd behavior. He abandoned his search of the body, with the EMP he wasn't entirely certain if they could contain the fire. He floated over to a nearby damage control station and ripped out an extinguisher and turned his full attention to the fire, doing what he could to put it out.

"XO?, we've got a fire in the storage area," he watched the fire for a moment, noticing what it was doing and quickly came to the proper conclusion. "Without gravity the fire is being drawn by the oxygen, I fear if something isn't down soon it'll leap into ajorning rooms or possible throughout the ship," he sent via telepathy to the XO.

Errowyn woke up early as she always done since her conception into life, dressed in her sweats for her morning work out when she noticed that on her footlocker was an official document folded with the seal of the Yamatai Star Fleet addressed to her. She looked around at the Neko's. Some still sleeping, others stirring in their bunks, or like her getting ready for the day.

She grabbed the document and scampered out of the barracks into the corridor and began her run through the vacant corridors with exception of the station security forces, few personnel on duty and of course, maintenance and those that had punishment duty to complete.

Coming to her turn around point, paused and opened up the document and read what was on it. Her eyes glittered with anticipation as she ran through the station to the communication center and entered. Coming to attention and saluted the onduty officer.

"Yes Santo-Hei?" The Duty Officer returned the salute, finding it interesting that his early morning duty was broken by the visit from one of the New Neko-pilots.

"With great respect, Shoi. I request to have access to reply to these orders I have received," Showing the Duty Officer the communique.

The Duty Officer looked at her, and nodded gravely and then barked out orders to one of the Com's officers manning a console. Once getting a reply opf compliance, the duty officer motioned for her to take his seat and fulfill her compliance with the orders.

Errowyn gave a quick bow and scampered to the offered seat and sat down typing in the following reply::

Errowyn read it over and nodded, making a few correction in the spelling, nodded to the com's officer that hovered nearby. He pointed out the proper sequence of controls to send the message off to its destination.

She stood up, thanking the officer for his assistance and then bowed again to the Onduty Officer with another bow and salute, getting one in return with a smile from the Officer. Then she left at a run back to her assigned barrack dorm to pack and get ready to head out, knowing that the wheels were set in motion.

Once packed, Errowyn made arrangement for her stuff to be taken to the proper area as new set of travel orders arrived by the Duty Runner and soon she was on her way. Leaving behind empty bunk with a clean set of sheets, pillowcase, blanket folded neatly at the foot of the bed on an exposed mattress, letting everyone know that the bunk was available for the next person in transit.

YSS Yamato

Errowyn just finished her pre-flight checks to her temporary assigned fighter along with several other pilots when the flight officer ran through the hanger bay, shouting for pilots to who had their fighters pre-flighted to sound off.

Errowyn waved with a "Hai! Sir" getting the motion to get aboard her craft and move it towards the launch area. She scrambled aboard, powering the fighter up and with running lights flashing to alert that she was moving her fighter to the desired location. Over her radio, she heard, "Pilot Scrambler, your wingman is Pilot Dreamchaser. Both comfirm!" crackled over her radio.

"Hai!" both replied, she looking over at Scrambler and both nodding to acknowledge each other and soon they was launched into space along with a few other fighters from the YSS Yamato. She fell into her slot, as being the newest of the flight of four, she fell into the rear of the diamond formation to begin their search pattern flight.

Akagane

As Elisto approached the fire, the flames were actually diminishing in size even before he activated the extinguisher. Meaning that the flames were rapidly consuming the oxygen in the section, and that the environmental systems were offline.

From behind Elisto there was a whoompf and a flare of light coming from the body of the intruder.

------------------------------------------------

Space
Scrambler as senior pilot transmitted the search grid that the group was to explore. It was a large section of space, but then this far out in interstellar space there was a lot of nothing to explore. When they reached the target coordinates, he sent. The RADAR was picking up some objects worth investigating.

Wanting to see Errowyn in action he sent, "Dreamcatcher, you take lead to the contacts. Burner and Raider will follow up 15 seconds behind us."

Akagane

As Elisto started to back away from the fire, he heard the sudden noise behind him. His hands clinching the extinguisher as he heard the noise behind him and the dancing of the light on the walls, which got his attention as he turned to see what it was.

Errowyn replied with a soft, "hai!" and worked the controls of her fighter, shooting ahead of the group with target on radar. While scanning the sector around her as she approached the what was on her rador screen. She reached out and armed her weapons payload to include missiles and cannons, bringing them up to full power. She kept the 4Ke-V8-W3100 Turbo Aether Cannons on safe till needed as it would only take second to switch it to fire mode. Her target acquistion mode was active.

Akagane
The interior of the intruders space suit was filled with white light and smoke was coming out of the suit in a number of places. The white light was the brilliant blue-white of burning magnesium.

Space
As her Kawarime drew closer to the RADAR target, Errowyn would notice that the object had no thermal signature, nor any sign of power. Drawing closer the RADAR image clearly showed that the object was not the Akagane, but rather a large chunk of an asteroid.

However, at the edge of her sensors she picked up something more interesting. There was a large radar blib, and there were three objects moving on a path to intercept. The tactical system flagged them as unknowns.

Space

Errowyn opened encoded radio frequency to her squadron mates, "Intitial radar pickup is an asteriod chunk." As she swung around to see what also was there, her radar picked up another large object with three smaller blips moving towards it. She blinks as the radar tagged them as unknowns. "also picking up a large object with three smaller ships of unknown origin moving towards newest large radar acquitition. Running scans on it."

Akagane

Elisto shielded his eyes as he watched, but then realized the thinning of the air in the section, he took in as deep of a breath as possible and allowed his glasses to record a bit more of the scene, before being forced to leave the area for more oxygen.

Karma? Or was someone looking out for me?, he thought when he glanced back at the dead intruder and realized that had he ignored the fire and tried to search the intruders body he could've easily gotten injured by that mans self-termination.

Akagane

There was not much left of the intruder by the time the immolation was complete. However the several of the intruder's items that were not on its body when it fried appeared to be intact.

By that time the fire in the storage room was snuffed out. Elisto could hear a hissing sound coming from the storage room.

Space
"Roger that Dreamchaser, I concur with your decision to advance. I am advising the Yamato of our situation." Replied Scrambler.

As the formation of Kawarime streaked towards the unknown object, the radar image seemed to indicate a starship of the configuration of the Akagane, but there were no energy emissions.

The other craft changed course away from the larger and were now on an intercept course for the Kawarime.
