RP: 21st Fighter Sq [Mission 6.0] Mists and Mysteries

There was too much going on for Yaeko to process everything at once. One thing at a time Yaeko, just one at a time. First, Ripper and Silic. Then, missile. Last, complex. Her next reaction was to attempt to dodge the incoming fire, using her forearms shields where necessary. Once she had a free moment, she pointed at it and began issuing orders.

"All squad members, fire at that Ripper! Elisto, now!"

Dropping into a prone position, she began laying down as much fire power as she could into the Ripper's center-mass. After pumping a few seconds of rounds into the opposing armor, rolling here and there to deflect incoming fire, she rose back onto one knee looked around at her squad.

"Support Team, continue laying down cover fire. Assault Team, move towards Silic and help him out a bit. Demo, get over to that missile and do what you can to disable it. Whatever you do, don't damage anything, just try to disconnect whatever launches it or arms it. Move!"

Elisto hit the detonator, then quickly dove behind some cover. Then he peered around the corner and let loose with his service rifle for a few shots before hearing Yaeko's order. "On it! Let's go Hoshi!" he said while making his way toward the missile.

Akemi and Kayo added their weapon fire against the modified Ripper. Between them and the others the salvaged unit quickly failed. But not before it scored a number of hits with its own cannons making shields flare and knocking Akemi backward.

With the detonator triggered, a series of explosions erupted from the aft of the starships. Some of the strong enough to actually shift the position of the ships.

The shock wave from the explosions blew the tarp completely off the 'missile' before Elisto got to it. The forward section of the object was open and sitting in it was a sphere as described by Konpeki.

Kenshin's shield flared once more as it was briefly washed with destructive weapons fire from the enemy Ripper -- gunfire which abruptly halted as the haphazardly constructed power armor succumbed to the combined firepower of the squadron, breaking open as the armor melted into slag and its occupant was reduced to a charred, smoking corpse.

The pilot of the Ripper's demise was followed quickly by a series of reverberating explosions, as the charges placed by the demo team were detonated and plumes of incandescent fire spilled out of the aft quarters of the landed Tachibana ships. The explosions were powerful enough to rock the vessels and cause them to shift in their places upon the ground.

Kenshin floated in mute surprise at the sudden pyrotechnics display, before regaining his composure and taking his armor down to the ground and landing a few yards away from Elisto and the missile-like Tachibana device.

As Elisto approuched the 'missile', he slowed his pace when he saw the object and how it looked. "Interesting looking missile," he remarked as he looked it over from the front and then toward the rear.

"Tachibana built this?" he raised a raised suspicious eye as he continued to take it in all at once Couldn't have... this design is just.. to odd.. not Yamatai at all.... When he saw the sphere, along with the clear liquad inside of it, being this close made her a bit nervous.

He sent a quick encrypted message to Konpeki and Yaeko, alerting them both to having found one of the spheres. Then, he started looking for some way of disabling it so that it wouldn't activate, and began to look over the forward part of this 'missile' for any kind of activation device.

"Hoshi, keep me covered please.." he asked.

Yaeko continued to rush forward, allowing her AIES to target random enemies in front of her and pick them off. She moved in a direction that would lead to Silic, and she also had her AIES set to prioritize targets nearest to Silic. Right now, her job was to make sure that here team was okay, which would make the rest of the mission easier. When she saw Akemi go down she looked behind her.

"Akemi, you okay?" She would have waited for a response, but then Elisto's communication came in. "Akemi, see if you can help them out!"

"Remember Scrapyard, if that thing breaks we're in vacuum sealed suits so we should be unaffected. So if that missile decides to launch, you shoot at the sphere and make sure that the disease gets let out here rather than wherever the missile is aimed."

As Kenshin touched down, the young Yamataian knelt prone and raising his ellipsoid shield and rifle once more -- aiming the gun towards the nearest enemy soldier and opening fire towards his target with the intent to kill after confirming once again that the individual was not on the list of VIP's the Star Army wanted captured.

The pilot didn't even want to think about the kind of chaos that would ensue should a stray projectile or bolt of energy hit the adjacent missile and unleash the synthetic plague upon their surroundings.

Silic finally reached the bottom of the hill just after the Ripper had vacated the area, landing ungainly in a heap. Slowly he stood up and brushed at the small flames on his chest that he could see, oblivious to the flames still going away merrily on his back, he stopped to look up and caught a last glimpse of Elisto ducking behind something covered in a tarp.

“What the f...” was all he managed to utter before the explosions happened.

The massive blast wave tossed him into the air like a rag doll and threw him right into the entrance of the enemy stronghold with flames and all. Limbs splayed in all directions as he disappeared into the enemy base.

As Silic slid deeper into the structure he passed a number of armed personnel. From the direction that he arrived, there was a rather ominous sound of a heavy door closing.

To his side a VCMAD-T approached with a Ke-M2-W2913 mounted on top of it.

-------------------------------

Outside the blast from the explosives died away. The Ripper lay a smoking hulk, beyond it a large heavy door had closed sealing the entrance.

The Black Mindy fired at Elisto. With a burst from her machine gun slamming his shield. If he looked at the missile, he would see a number of lights come on in the missile.

Elisto felt the impact, and heard the warning alarm in his helmet's speakers as he turned quickly toward the Mindy and unshouldered his rifle and fired off a few shots. "Hoshi!" he shouted as he ducked back a bit before noticing the light up out of the corner of his eyes.

"Crap!" a scowl left him as he shouldered his rifle and began to think on how to disable the sphere, the technology he was seeing was odd - not Yamatai in the least as he had already figured. Not Neplesia... can't be Lorath.. NMX? No, the the way the missile looks doesn't match known NMX designs... and I can't seem to find any kind of panel to access the insides, if I can disable this, I'm deffinantly requesting this be brought onboard.

Placing himself between the Mindy's firing and himself, so that the weapons fire wouldn't hit the sphere, he began to experiment with the clamps and wires he was seeing, doing this all calmly as he altered between looking for a panel to access the insides and attempting to disconnect the sphere.

He was tempted to send a message reporting what he had discovered but his focus was on the sphere and trying to get it disconnected.

Anne aimed her rifle at the Ripper wanting to add to fire that was being sent against it. She just heard beep of her AIES as she was warned of incoming fire, she saw a flash at RIppe's shoulder, which was where large gauss cannon was and then she felt impact. Large round hit her shields, being too strong for them to contain it and penetrating, hitting her in the shoulders with enough power to sent her flying backwards, tumbling on the ground though the bushes.

She did not know how much time went by as she lay on her back looking at the sky above her, breathing heavily. Her armour was informing her, that force was not enough to penetrate, but that it was damaged. Anne was too fazed to really do anything.

Seeing that Elisto was taking fire, Kenshin swore under his breath sharply and turned his rifle upon the Black Mindy that now focused its attention on the SAINT operative. Someone in the squadron needed to quickly divert the enemies attention before a stray shot in that direction prematurely caused the release of the pathogen.

Kneeling down and taking aim at the offending armored hostile, the young yamataian pilot released a brief spray of bullets towards his foe.

Silic bounced past the makeshift barriers filled with angry nekos with guns. He grunted as he skimmed the floor with a screech of metal small fountain of sparks before sliding to a halt on his back with more protesting noises from the surface of his suit.

He was in a hall some twenty feet wide with a fairly high ceiling, obviously designed to accommodate more than just people. Speaking of people, just about everyone in the room looking at him seemed to have guns.

Then he heard the sound of something braking next to him, he looked sideways to see a small tracked drone roll to a stop about a meter away to his right, on top of it was definitely some sort of weapon, and it was turning towards him!

Silic reacted on instinct, his brain instantly screamed at him “Get away!”

His suit interpreted this as Jet Away.

Silic's jetpack sputtered into life again his slid with renewed momentum across the floor, up to a wall, jetted up that and within a second was flaring wildly against the ceiling like a loose balloon flying all over the tunnel. Both arm cannons and his assault rifle firing in three separate directions wildly.

"Hai," Lynn said to Elisto's alarm, powering up her Aether Beam and focusing it on the Ripper's midriff.

She 'hopped' to place herself closer to Elisto to better protect him.

Elisto continued to examine the 'missile' and how the sphere was connected. "Come on.. come on... come on..." he muttered as he carefully disconnected wires, waited a few moments, then disconnect another, then made attempts at trying to seperate the sphere from the missile itself. "Almost... almost..." he was sweating in his helmet.

The panels of the forward section of the 'missile' began to close. The object started making other sounds as more things inside the unit apparently were turning on.

-------------------------------------

The Black Mindy took once more to the air, heading towards the damaged ships. Her flight was erratic though it was unknown if it was due to injuries or equipment malfunctions. She slammed into the side of the Scout ship.

-------------------------------------

Silic's erratic flight and wild spray of weapon fire killed several of the unarmored Nekos. He also succeeded in setting multiple items ablaze.

Yaeko continued firing at the Mindy, all the while sprinting towards the door that Silic disappeared behind. "Tin Man, report in! That's an order!" She screamed into the comm. As she glanced at the door, she was worried that his erratic behavior would cause him to hurt himself, or worse, the mission. Stopping and kneeling to glance around at what was going on, she looked over at Elisto who was over by the missile.

"Scrapyard, what's the status on the missile?"

Elisto swore loudly as he watched the panels starting to close, he looked around for something to shove into place but when he couldn't he decided to use the next closest thing to him: His own rifle. He unshouldered it and lodged it into the panels to keep them from closing.

"It's being stubborn! But I think I'm almost through!" was Elisto' message back as she continued to disconnect the wires that he did recognize as being more of his people's technology, but then as he continued to also search the missile he finally found a panel.

With a slight smile he felt around it, then shoved his gloved fingers into the crevice and began to pull, metal protested as the panel slowly came off until he heard a metallic 'snap' and threw the panel onto the ground. What he saw inside only made him raise an eye-brow.

The inside of the 'missile' was like nothing he had seen before, while the wires were all rather generic looking, it was the actual components of this missile that left him a bit confused. Oddly shaped components who had a number of wires going in and out.

He did recognize a few more wires though. The large component he saw before him was active, he could feel the heat wavering off it and pondered what it did. It's located toward the front... targetting system? Guidance control? Navigation? Hell, could even be this things brain... sadly without more time I can't be positive so... he licked his lips for a moment before he started to disconnect more wires. He also started tracing several, to see where they lead, before disconnecting those.

Silic's comlink opened, it was static ridden from the signal going through the heavy door but the content was clear.

“Aaahhh! Arrggaahh!! Aaaaaaaghhh-” The link cut off as the screamed reached a new high pitch of terror.

Meanwhile, inside Silic was screaming in panic as his suit flew and bounced erratically off the walls and ceilings, all guns firing. While around the room the angry neko with guns now became very confused and angry neko with guns, bullets and lasers peppering around the room trying to hit the elusive target. The entire hall was now a very deadly place to be as errant munitions hit various objects around the place, causing a few more explosions and fires, he saw a few enemies go down but that could have just as easily been confused friendly fire rather than just him.

Finally, Silic's suit had had enough. His energy rifle and forearm guns stopped, causing Silic to make a small very confused and slightly scared sound, then his jetpack failed. Silic cried out on fear as he skidded along the floor for the second time that day, this time face down and sliding a few dozen meters before coming to a stop.

Silic looks up, his vision was grainy and his HUD was basically telling him bad stuff as he slowly pushed himself up. He discarded his energy rifle and pulled his shotgun from over his shoulder as he sucked in deep breaths and surveyed the scene, knowing more hostiles would have to be out there.

Silic's rampage turned the corridor he was confined into an inferno as his thruster ignited anything flammable and unfortunately several of the containers appeared to contain volatile fluids. The HUD on his armor showed that the atmosphere of the chamber was a lethal chemical cocktail. As he fell to the ground when his thruster failed. He could see that the doorway which he had entered was damaged and blocked by wreckage. There was a door at the opposite end, its condition was unknown.

---------------------------------

The missile started emitting a loud incessant whine that was growing in both volume and pitch. His HUD showed that there was some sort of an overload building within the alien device. The hatch that had tried to close over the bioweapon sphere emitted smoke from its mechanisms as a result of Elisto sticking his weapon butt into it.

The missile began to shake and buck and part of the surface started to glow a dull red.

-----------------------------------

The rest of the team would hear a throaty rumble coming from the left of the entrance of base. A Type 31A NMX Light Tank rolled into view. The Remote-Operated Rapid-Fire Turret on the top began to strafe the area where the Diamonds had sought safety.
