IYS EMPIRE
CAVERN

Ragnar recalled one of the last few arguments he had with his brother; one of the few times the younger had made an undeniably valid point. In chaos good intentions mean nothing, take action! Bjorn had scolded Ragnar who insisted fighting and killing wasn’t what their parents intended for them.

Chaos it certainly was; creepiness was a wall away, teams were splitting and separating, and everything seemed to be going so smooth that it just wasn’t right. Ragnar rushed to the wall separating the hanger filled with opfor and the cavern and began pulling back large strips of deck playing from the floor and wall. If he could find enough sensitive and potentially explosive guts then he’d follow the teams example and let loose his own little barrage of hellfire and brimstone.

Arete floated back towards Seinosuke and Kaori, the two scientists. The amount of people backing up Eden's formation was plenty, and she could be useful elsewhere. When the female green-panel mentioned something about coolant, the not-elysian's ears perked up. "Isn't most chemical coolant extremely flammable? We could try taking advantage of that to cripple their system... I think. It would depend on where this goes, really..." She mused and mulled over her ideas somewhat quietly.

Wyatt shot Eden a simple text message in response, it read "10-4," and nothing else. He watched as a small drone followed her a few short moments later and began orbiting around his suit, giving various readouts about the area in general before the marksman gave it orders to begin scanning one wall in particular - looking for any sort of Mindy-sized cavities in it that lead up to the command deck.

No doubt it would be suicidal to charge it in anything less than the behemoth William was carting around, his mind was still set on catching them off guard. Luckily enough the NSB slaved to his will soon pinged back with a result, some kind of hollowed area next to a support beam that held cables - he assumed it to be a maintenance tunnel that led from engineering but as far as he could tell it went up past each floor and should keep him hidden from sight.

"Alder-hei, flanking route found, it might lead down to engineering but I'll follow it upwards, over and out," The marksman informed the scattered team before unsheathing the Wakizashi from his hip in one fluid motion and coating the short blade in deadly aetheric energy, the weapon was plunged into the somewhat softer inner hull as a Wyatt-sized-hole was carved out.

It took a bit but eventually the 6'2" Minkan was able to peel it away enough to fit his frame inside, he sent the NSB ahead to make sure it was clear before entering it himself - gently gliding up and pushing off of a few small protrusions as he followed the cavity, staying as quiet as he could.

As the enemy armor appeared and charged him, William let out a roar of defiance and threw himself forward. He couldn't dodge in time, but that was fine. His huge armor could take it. He let out a burst from his suit's thrusters, adding to his momentum. William plunged his lance out and upward, aiming to drive his weapon through his opponents heart.

"William, engaged." He said through the squad's comms with his mindware, a slight hint of urgency in the tone as he fought his attacker.

The other technician in the vent eased up on the whole 'ruin the cabling and tubing' thing. He popped out after Odo done the same, and looked about.

"Want to knock out a gun on the way down, Odo-hei? Practically screaming to get itself ripped to pieces." His gauntlets re-equip the Minkan in almost no time at all, and then float behind Walter on stand-by.

"Eve is an unspeakably dangerous person, it is wise for you to not pass this anxiety onto your soldiers. They will do their jobs, now let us do ours, Chusa. I won't waste the lives of your infantry," Emi stated in a tone just shy of a whisper as she placed a hand on Hoshi's, "I've brought in a very special asset to ensure that Eve is killed. Though very capable our own infantry tend to be too predictable to combat a threat like this. Spectre has volunteered to perform this kill and I shall insist that his identity be withheld until after Eve is terminated. We need to locate Eve and drop the asset right on top of her. Until then, his objective is to protect the ship until needed elsewhere."

Kyoi, who had been simply keeping quiet and mechanically helping eliminate the cannons, replied to Arete.

“Maybe...maybe not using it here, but...” she started, before her voice shifted. “Scan the ship, coolant should be traced. If coolant reaches any critical location, perhaps sabotage could be used. Alternatively coolant can be ruptured in key locations and be used in makeshift bombs.”

Coconut followed the NSB readouts to the nearest area that had enemies. She'd been itching for a proper fight, and when the NSB's feed cut out, she knew there was at least something that could shoot, and was therefore an enemy. Her Mindy sped forward, up the Zero-gee passageway, and toward the last location of the NSB she had chosen. the brown-haired, olive-skinned Neko got her LATR ready and held it forward, prepared to start shooting the instant she encountered enemies.

Despite her focus on finding enemies, the back of Coconut's mind was litttered with confusion. They had a plan to start with, but now everything had turned into a crazy blitz in any and every direction, with no apparent strategy, and the only tactic was 'Kill anything you see'. The exhileration at finally being in combat again was at odds with five years of structured units and discipline instilled by the Fifth fleet, as well as the cohesive goals and teamwork each fireteam and squad employed during ground combat. Here, it was nothing but chaos. Coconut wasn't used to it yet, and she didn't know if she would like it yet, either.

Walter said he wanted to take out one of the guns, and Odo nodded. He patted his butt pack reflexively, assuring himself that those engineering tools were still there.

"Lets do it. Keep an eye out?" He said, as he put up his weapon and slowly advanced down the tunnel towards what would be a access point for the weapons system.

Alastair reviewed his plan of action once more. He seen the people inside moving around more as if listening to something. He expected this to be an ambush. They might even go as far as to have bomb vests on. Either way this room needed to be cleared and that is exactly what Alastair planned to do. He took his weapon and using the aether blade to cut a hole in the door. His drones hovered just behind him, ready to blap anything that was seen as a threat.

As the sword made contact with the door he reached into the mindy's belt area and pulled out a grenade. Just in case he thought to himself.

Seinosuke glanced over as Kaori peeked over his shoulder, resisting the urge to pat her Mindy's head as she leaned in. Keying his comms, Mochi narrowed down the scanning cone, "Mishhu nearby, other side of the ship from my pos. Stay alert and try not to drop any spanners so they clatter ominously down vents." It was about then that Kaori was blasted back across the room by a gooey geyser, just as he spoke, making the scientist spin around with alarm and breathe a sigh of relief when she appeared unharmed. "Good idea. We don't want this going up while everyone's inside. Trojan horse style." Muttering down comms once more, "By the way it seems the ship has high explosives leaking around the place, so don't drop matches down the vents either."

The masculine tech-head nodded back to Odo; keeping an eye out is fairly easy, especially with the help of the NSBs. While Walter looked straight ahead, his six small drones watched his left, right, and rear. All the while, his Stars floated about, the metallic hands balled up into fists as they acted like true hands, telegraphing Walter's thoughts in realtime.

At this time, Walter had something to hope for, yet something to also expect. On one hand, he is hoping he would meet his mother here for some reason, the sadistic nationalist Edwin Hyde, just so he could grind her up and make her into cat meat. On the other hand, the man is expecting pretty much no opposition as him and Odo go to jack up one of the Legacy cannons. The Imperials were meant to be monsters, a unstoppable force to be reckoned with, and yet with the Kaiyo II crew? Everyone, even him, are practically walking all over these guys.

After a bit of silent reflection, Walter Hyde realized that while he really didn't care too much about the situation, his double could have taken each and every consecutive victory for his side like a personal defeat. For what reason, the Minkan wasn't sure. It just occurred to him how easy it is to feel... Disconnected with these threats. Thus, letting Walter tune into his neglected 'emotionless warrior' side, like when he murdered ten Kuuvies in cold, ruthless fashion. Or was it twelve Kuuvies?

Walter didn't bother to count... And that made him conflicted about whether or not he's actually grown and matured as a person.

"Have your asset deploy on the IYS Empire," Hoshi said resolutely to the Chujo in her darkened office as she kept her body still, "immediately. I'll send you the encrypted telepathic codes for the Kaiyō's XO, now, for your operative to communicate with her as she heads to the bridge."

"We have a," Deio Asuka called out from her sensors seat, "forward approach of enemies on our tails. The Plumeria friendlies are all engaged on the edge of the asteroid field behind us. On top of that, we are losing asteroid cover very soon. What do you say, helm?"

Asuka relayed some of the data to the fighters. They had larger enemies than other fighters and power armor at their backs, now. They were dealing with a squadron of gunships that were each gaining on different vantage points off the prow, starboard, and stern of the ship. Hoshi was in her seat that had SPINE access and was watching the encroaching gunships and waited to see what Gravity and the Mamushi would do, but was ready to give orders at a moment's notice, if necessary.

The engineers would see that the massive legacy cannon was unshielded and currently warmed and ready for action; the IYS Empire was in the middle of chasing down the YSS Kaiyō II and Pumpkin's stealthy Plumeria gunships, after all.

Wyatt would find he could see the heat signatures that showed a multi-level series of decks with a heavily staffed lower level and an area above where there were only a few manned chairs. There were power armored guards stationed at what were likely blast doors towards the stern of the ship on the same side as the zero gravity passageway. He had clear access through the tunnel thus far, but up ahead were miniature PD turrets within the conduits that were above and around the bridge.

Zero Gravity Passageway

"What do you see, Alder-hei?" Eden asked as she went up and stopped outside of some blast doors on the level denoted as the bridge by NSB scans.

The door didn't open. It's just melted a bit.

Wiliam was facing his nemesis head-on as he railed his lance towards her armor. She glided to the right of it, like a rider avoiding a weapon in a joust. She skimmed near the lance with her body, accelerating towards Wiliam. She soon had a grip on his armor and swiftly kneed into his back with spiked power armor-clad legs, pushing his body forward.

Random Deck 2

The NSB had led Coconut to very hostile territory. There were at an entrance covered by blast doors and down a four meter hallway, three Nekovalkyrja with aether beam saber rifles out and were wearing Mindy-like armors.

Cavern

The coolant began to quasi-geyser and formed globules in the lack of gravity or oxygen. They were floating all about. Muyomi heard Kaori while the trio were there at the far stern's door and spoke.

"Juni, how do you propose we do that?" she said, nodding towards Kaori. "You said taking engineering was a 'good idea.' What should we do?" The infantry Neko looked back to Iemochi.

Iemochi's narrowed scans would show that the signatures of the Mishhuvurthyar-like creatures matched known values of a Mishhuvurthyar Advanced Type in the same way a NH-17 matched a NH-33."

William grunted as he was struck in the back by the Neko's spiked knee. He was launched forward, further into the passage way. The Nepleslian cursed and stabbed the deck with his lance, using it to stop himself.

He spun around and faced his opponent once more, pulling his lance out from the deck. William then had a brief thought pass his mind. The way that neko moved, her ferocity. It reminded him of himself...

He activated his speaker, then spoke. "Who are you?!" William demanded, holding his spear in a ready position in the likely event that his opponent charged him

Well you piece of shit door. Why you no open!! Alastair thought to himself as he continued to be denied entry. The clock as ticking and he did not have time for this. As the saying goes, when all the doors are closed, just look for a window. He continued thinking to himself as he pulled explosives from his belt. He shapes one charge into a ring, followed by putting another charge in the center.

Fingers crossed this does not kill anyone on the other side. Unless they are bad, then sucks to be them. He could not help but chuckle as he stepped away from the charges he had placed directly on the door. He remote triggered the explosives from a distance.

Random Deck 2

Coconut came to a halt for a moment as soon as she came into the hallway, though she only remained still for but a moment as she aimed her LATR- She released a burst of precise fire at the weapon of one of the Mindy-like armors, trying to destroy it or at least knock it out of her enemy's hand. Her photonics array came to life suddenly, creating an angled barrier in front of her to try and keep her safe from any incoming fire, while she lined up for another burst from the LATR, this time aiming at disabling or killing the armor she had attempted to disarm with the first burst, all while keeping herself a moving target to make it that much harder for her enemies to try and hit her.

"This is it! Time to shine!" Coconut thought to herself, though in the back of her mind she knew she was badly outnumbered and had little to no support as it were, with all of her allies scattered about inside the enormous ship they had boarded.

Wyatt halted his progress the moment he found the point defence turrets, telling the NSB he had control over to fall back as he retreated a few feet - catching the small drone and choosing to stuff it into his butt-pack for the time being.

"You've got multiple enemy armours on the other side of that door, heavy activity on the lower decks that feathers out as you go up and some PD turrets scattered around, I'll keep you posted on any changes, Shosa-Eden - going dark for a moment, Over," the Marksman shot back over comms before sending her every scan he had taken since her last lot of alerts and severing his connection. Now he had to deal with those blasted turrets if he wanted to reach the bridge without having to trace back and regroup with those choosing to knock on the front door - Wyatt accessed his suit's systems, lowering the exterior shell's temperature to match his environment and firing up the Mindy 4's photonics array. Of course that cancelled out his CFS but the Minkan wasn't concerned with it, waiting until his entire form blended in with his surroundings before pushing off and using his own genetic inertial control to gently float past the PD turrets.

Space combat was terrifying, sure, but there was a small part of Gravity that was utterly enjoying this. The thrill of the chase, of the game, in which she and her opponents traded action for reaction, attempting to think several steps ahead of the other to gain the advantage.

Gravity took mental note of the information coming in, then proceeded to make a mental "map" of ship positions and vectors in her head. Next, she began to sift through her options.

Little resistance in front of the ship meant she could reasonably do that. However, they would leave the safety of the asteroid field, leaving them exposed.

Conclusion: Nope.

No resistance. From the looks of it, the ships weren't firing as aggressively as they could have. Why not? It was several gunships and fighters versus one. Easy pickings. If Gravity had to guess, they were trying to coral her into easy position for the Empire's main guns.

Conclusion: Nope.

C) Up/Down

Rising up out of the protection of the asteroids was already a no-no. Furthermore, the ships surrounding them would have unobstructed lines of sight without worry of missing and striking a friendly vessel.

Conclusion: Nope.

Can't go forwards, right, left, up, or down. That leaves only one direction, and there would be no way they could expect such a risky tactic.

Conclusion: Fuck it, why not?!

"Hang on!" Gravity called out and pulled hard on the controls, sending the Kaiyo into a sharp bank. The ship swooped around a full one-eighty degrees, before Gravity lined up with their pursuers. Gunning the throttle forwards, she rocketed back the way they'd just come, firing the ship's main gun at one of the gunships, and aiming their nose right at the lead power armor.

She giggled like a maniac, trying to make direct eye contact with that poor soul. Though she knew the soldier couldn't actually see her, Gravity wanted to imagine that they were crapping their armor at the sight of a one thousand foot long, five hundred foot wide gunship on a direct collision course with them at several thousand miles per hour.

The plan was the blast through the cannon-fodder behind and get back to the relative safety of the Plumerias. Hopefully the bigger ships would be hesitant to fire with so many armors and fighters in close proximity.

Anastasia gripped the armrest of her seat as Gravity took the Kaiyo in for a sharp, unexpected turn. In the heat of the moment, there wasn't much time at all to debate tactics, so the Elysian supported the decision to the best of her ability. She leaned fowards against the G-foces, sliding her hand across the display in front of her to bring the status of the ships shields in front of her. From there, she diverted a little extra energy to the front of the ship, to brace for impact against any assailants weapons- or maybe the assailants themselves.

On the other side of things, there was radio chatter of explosive fluids.

Kaori looked between the group that had started forming around the scientists. There were armed, advanced-type Mishhuvurthyar in the room next to them, standing between them and engineering. To top that off, there were globs of flammable coolant mixture spreading quickly around the area. What an oxymoron. A familiar voice cut in on the comms line, through the technicians channel. Seinosuke would quickly recognize the voice as Anastasias, there to back him up. "Do not light that stuff on fire."

Kaori looked over at Seinosuke and Arete, giving a rather gingerly eye roll under her helmet. She pulled her SMG up at the ready. "Any plans?"

“...received command.” Kyoi replied to Anastasia as she searched Engineering for vialso or containers to fill up with coolant. “Buuut...what if we use them like molotovs? Just, have a little fun with how creative we can get.”

For what reason? For explosive reasons of course. These things are free grenades.

Impractical for use, besides-

FREE.

-Star Army Scalar Grenades would make more of an impact-

GRENADES.

-than a vial of coolant.

...strategic value recognized.
