RP: NSS Inquiry [Mission Two] Zero Tolerance

The signature's comms were open and there was a faint and mumbled looking readout on Linda's HUD of what they could be saying, but it looked like it was in another language completely. Glynn would notice a glint in the distance coming from the target he had spotted. With his chain gun trained on them, he would be able to make out faint movement, then they pounced away on all fours. For a moment, the power armored Elefirn was apparent in a small burst of moonlight coming from gaps in the trees.

Cliff

Stein and Adam would be the first to see hostiles approaching via their scans, though numbers were hard to make out. The hostiles were clandestinely trying to move from the North-West of the plains, likely to the plains themselves. They looked to be stalking towards Alec and Tobias' position.

Foliage

The active sensors must have tripped them up. That, or the proximity to the landing zone and the now dead Elefirn close to that area had tipped them off. Regardless, they were now being slowly and methodically sought out. Tobias would notice via his active scanning with its red light flashing towards where the hostiles were would be able to see a clearer picture. Eight unfriendlies coming in behind a jagged hill crest.

Plains

From her position, Cadence Newborn called out, "We can't see any movement. What are the rest of you getting?" They hadn't activated active scans and the hills that covered the area the hostiles were currently coming from was not showing any readouts. She sighed, waiting to hear from her team.

Cliff

As Stein spotted the incoming hostile units, he keyed his comm unit. "Boss, Stein, I have multiple hostiles incoming from the North West. Looks like they are moving into the plains. I don't have an accurate count." He reported as he changed his magazine for a high explosive one, racking the bolt back and locking it into place. He thumbed off his safety with one fluid motion.

His HUD switched over to show his targeting reticle, which was linked into the scout cannon. The ACE in his suit took in the wind speed, coriolis effect of the world, and his elevation showing him the proper adjustments he needed to make. He adjusted the weapon and sighted into the cluster. "I have them in sight, Boss. Say the word and I will paint them across the canyon." He said as he began streaming his HUD to her and sending his current tagged enemies to everyone.

One singular thought ran though Glynn's mind as the image of the alien figure disappeared, That cur! We've been spotted!.
"
Sergeant! I believe the enemy has found out our current location, I suggest we re-position ourselves to a different location if we want to remain concealed and camouflaged!" He suddenly did a double take at his sensors and to the field once more. There was no doubt in Glynn's thought process that the Elefirn were going to realize that Linda and Glynn were trying pass by the Elefirn forces to flank them, and that the Elefirn would respond to the pair of stragglers quickly in order to deal with other with other aspects of the battlefield.

Forest

Linda held up a hand to Glynn as a gesture to calm down and sent him another communication through laser. "We move. He was sending communications so we can't kill him or they know we're here for sure." She gestured a bit further into the forest and started to walk swiftly. "Keep your snakeskin on if even a small group detaches and comes for us we're pulling people away from their main force."

Cliff

Adam stayed crouched beside Stein as he got into position with his rifle. Being so far above meant Adam was more a glorified guard than a spotter due to the fact that the sniper rifle has the upgraded scope. Either way he did his job though it annoyed him that he might not get to fight anything. In the end, mission comes first, at least that was what he was trying to believe.

While Stein was sighted down at the gathering enemy he watched for the other approaches, these antlered freaks seemed like tricksers.

Foliage

Alec kept his head down as he quietly picked up his reload. He didn't let his snakeskin down but the some of the dots being broadcasted to his slowly getting closer, he didn't know how much longer it was till they needed to break stealth. He glanced round for another more places that they could repositon before the encroaching group was upon them.

"Tobias, fall back and repositon elsewhere. Ping me when you found a place and prepare to cover. I'll cover you while you move."

Polup

The first of the eight unfriendlies shot at Tobias immediately and struck him a dozen times while he tried to find stable coverage as the foliage gave minimal amounts of it. Soon his armor was showing lowered shields by fifty percent. Alec would have been able to see it all as the eight encroached on him as well. Despite that, it was actually by chance that they stalked towards Alec's position as they didn't know of his existence.

Cadence asked those in the forest over comms, "Is there a threat from the forest to the SouthWest of the original position?" To everyone else she nearly shouted as she watched Tobias get taken down a notch, "Hostiles attacking! Stein: report!"

Stein grimaced as the enemy began firing at Tobias. "8 hostile have engaged Tobais, Boss. Beginning combat."

With that, a loud thunderclap could be heard as Stein pulled the trigger on his target, unleashing a fragmentation shell down at the group of hostile Elefrin. As he cycled the bolt and pushed a fresh round in. "Adam, Tobais needs support. I'll cover you." He ordered as he unleashed another round.

At the sound of Cadence's voice over the radio, Linda hesitated a moment. It was a bit of a risky call, but she could not just refuse it right now, not with what it was asking. So she let out a sigh and then replied. "We had one contact, I think we scared them off, they might be reporting back to the rest, however. We might be able to drag out a small detachment for a fight."

Glynn had followed behind Linda, trying to maintain a safe distance between the two in case of an unexpected explosive. For the moment, Glynn aimed his weapon away from the Sergeant in an attempt to discover anyone or anything closing in behind them. He waited for an order, and Glynn was more than ready to cast fire unto the battlefield if need be.

With a firefight going off prematurely, Alec ready his reload before popping out of the side of his cover. His suit's snakeskin dropped and his LCA started spitting out rounds at the encroaching elferin. He didn't let off the trigger, giving out a suppressive harassing fire as he stood up and fired over his cover before dropping down as the LCA started clicking and not shooting.

"RUN TO THE SIDE, YA IDIOT!" Alec yelled at Tobias as he slapped a fresh reload in before inching back, firing intermittently to deter any pursuers.

Cliff

Adam watched the engagement begin and almost as if reading his mind Stein gave him the OK.

"About fucking time," He exclaimed as he moved and abruptly jumped off the cliff into a free dive. He knew almost nothing about this unit but he had a sense they were mostly good soldiers and so he just trusted that the covering fire would come. He felt his blood pumping as he fell towards the canopy below, only to boost forward just before hitting the tree tops. He used the Raider propulsion recklessly without any indication or need for stealth. If they saw him coming they may just turn their fire away from Tobias and on to him and that suited Adam just fine.

As he swooped toward the small group of Elefrin he opened fire with his Autocannon, strafing them as he crashed noisily and surprisingly elegantly into the foliage, coming to stop. He was prepared to shoot more but knew it may quickly move into hand to hand with him being this close.

Cadence unleashed her voice into comms, "Stein support from your position, Edison maneuver in after Corban covers Carrick. Nelson and Shields, cover yourselves as you retreat in on the engaging hostile's positions from their rear! Go, go, go!"

The hostiles had aimed at Tobias but he had managed to dodge away from them and fell back towards the medic.

Stein nodded as he heard his orders. "Roger that, Boss. Executing with extreme prejudice." He replied as he unleashed another salvo from his cannon.

BOOM...

BOOM...

BOOM...

Came the reports from the massive weapon. As the bullets came into contact with the Elefirn targets, the fragmentation shells blew apart and attempted to shred the targets into bits. Stein slammed home a new magazine and racked the bolt back again. "It was a good thing I loaded up on the fragmentation shells..." He said to no one in particular as he finished reloading.

With Cadence's orders, Linda turned her attention back to Glynn. "You heard her, we fall back and catch them from the rear or the flank. With only eight of them, if we can remove three, then we will turn the tides." At those words, she put away her LPA and pulled out the AS4GS as she made her way back towards the group. Her footsteps a little louder as she abandoned a measure of caution for speed.

With the aggressive maneuver Linda performed, Glynn inferred that he was clear to charge ahead with no restraints. "Roger that Sergeant!" Glynn pushed close behind Linda, and planned to initiate combat with a quick barrage of fragmentation and explosive power. He acknowledged the fact that he would have to restrain his fire in order to avoid friendly fire.

Alec continued to cover his own retreat from his old position. Every time he saw a head pop up, he fired off a shot and inched back. But soon the one head popping up became two, then three, then enough for him to give up his suppression and start sprinting to new cover as Stein's bombardment came in.

"Getting bullied real bad here. Carrick, start shooting for fuck sakes!"

Adam had stayed low in his position and awaited Alec to open fire. He grinned within his helmet as he heard the shots ring out and, like a cobra faced with it's prey, sprang forward toward the group of Elefrin. He ran just a few steps before leaping, his left foot catching a trunk, used that momentum to gain more height and change slight direction. He opened fire as he rose among the trees using only his Raider empowered momentum before planting another foot against his target tree and sprang forward in a spear, gun crossed ahead of him, toward the closest enemy. He was ready to close and earn himself some trophies.

The Elefirn struck by Adam was unaware of his gymnastic tactics and had been incapacitated early on just because they hadn't been guarding or ready to guard the side he struck. They were not down for the count, but now was the time to escalate the fight.

Alec took down three opponents just by sheer force and with Carrick nowhere to be seen, he had to shoulder the weight of the burden of the enemy.

Stein took out two more opponents and all that were left were the stragglers.

"Take them out, team!" Cadence called from her own position. Two more needed to be downed.

Stein smiled as the two Elefirn combatants were taken down by his sniper fire. As he heard the Lieutenant's orders, he loaded an armor piercing magazine. "Roger boss. Eliminating targets." Stein slid the bolt back and chambered one of the massive rounds and sighted in on one of the targets.

The AP round would blow through the armor and cover like paper. Stein let out a breath and held it just before squeezing the trigger. The gun barked its report and he swung the barrel towards the other target and fired again.
