Re: [restart point] Mission 2

"Considering your familiarity with the mental backup process," Serizawa spoke to Asher as he began to operate the control panel of the ST alcove, "I don't need to warn you about the brief unpleasantness of the process nor do I have to remind you to remain still until the backup has been completed in its entirety."

Though there was a coolness to his tone, on Serizawa's lips there was the faintest hint of a smile and it was not the kind of smile that spoke of any degree of kindness. The scientist, who usually found mental backups to be a chore, was taking a slightly sadistic kind of joy from this particular instance.

With a few final button presses, Serizawa caused the alcove's helmet to descend over Asher's had. Naturally, the sedation that the machine offered was overlooked by the physicist and the thin, maroon-haired man began the backup process.

Re: [restart point] Mission 2

Yuril was ushered in to the med-room by both Kai and Asher, she stood off to the side as Asher asked some questions and listened with a vague interest in the explanation given in response to his querry. It hardly interested her but, it was something new to learn.

"Seems all I'll have to cope with is holding still and some unpleasentness I suppose... Doesn't sound bad..."

Re: [restart point] Mission 2

As the trio reached the medbay, Yoroko took a step back to allow Asher to pass by her, then followed in after Yuril. Hmm, now what? Yoroko wondered to herself as she stood off to the side of the medbay watching Asher get an ear-full about the physical examination. Well, I probably do need to get a physical done... Yoroko thought.

After Asher left Sanjuro, walked up to Sora. "Anou sumimasen. I think I might need to get a physical, and know I need to get an ST backup." Yoroko said politely.

Re: [restart point] Mission 2

Nyton said:
Nyton's face drew a pensive expression as he thought on what Kotori had said. He then sighed and shook his head. "If ever there were more foolish gods, it is the kind we humans strive to be. The Nekovalkyrja should not have been made to be weapons without being allowed to grow and choose for themselves. A young race is not ready for such soul wrenching burdens. The innocence you feel lost is normal and perhaps a good sign. A sign that your soul is still inherently good." he said warmly.

Nyton leaned back and put his hand upon Kotori's shoulder briefly. "You are not as different from your mother than you think. You too are driven by the same values. Protecting the citizens of the Empire, nurturing your crew, teaching them to survive, and preserving as many lives as you can. The survivors at Taiie would not have escaped if you had not acted as such. You should not be afraid of the changes but rather take note and cherish that which is still alike."

After removing his hand he then touched the tips of his fingers together and looked at his own hands. "Power is something that must be used carefully so do not fear it. Fear weakens the mind and will only misdirect the user. Do not be too hard on yourself but be remain vigilant. If you do not wish to resemble the gods that litter human history then you must not forget what you are." he said.

Kotori made a little nod, remained silent for a few of Nyton's heartbeats as she digested his words and finally asked: "Don't you have to go to the MedLab and get a ST Backup too?"

Re: [restart point] Mission 2

After Asher, Yuril and Yoroko made their way into the room, Kai followed the two of them in and stood back a little bit, not wanting to feel imposing with his relatively towering form compared to most of the others inside the Med bay.

Re: [restart point] Mission 2

Nyton shrugged slightly at the suggestion to go to the Medlab. "I'm sure my ST can wait while we get the new crew members logged. However before my turn rolls around, I wanted to ask about the possibility of procuring a PHALANX pad for our Armor roster. Now that the Species Restriction Act has been repealed I have been meaning to discuss adding one to our lineup. With the move to standardize Armor manifests to the Daisy and Mindy the enemy would be able to counter them more readily. An NDI Armor just might be the wild card we could throw into a battle should the need arise."

Re: [restart point] Mission 2

"It's been a long time since I've seen NDI equipment on the logistic assets available to the First Expeditionary Fleet." Kotori frowned. "I could get you NovaCorp equipment on our next opportunity to garner supplies - I think they have a decent armor named the Mantus - but I wouldn't hold my breath for Phoenix Arms hardware."

"On the other hand..." The Taisa frowned as she considered. "Since we are an experimental vessel, we are sort of exempt from the requirement to not tinker around with our own hardware without getting slapped over the fingers. If you want to start on a private project to soup up the Daisy somewhat, I would not be opposed. It might give our technicians something to do when Miharu isn't breaking herself apart."

"Hey, I resent that!" Miharu retorted. Kotori merely chuckled.

Re: [restart point] Mission 2

Asher silently closed his eyes, simply replying Serizawa with a nod. The Hei wasn't as familiar as the Medical Officer may have thought with ST Backups. His previous back-up had been made before he had been brought back in his body during his height change. The brief uncomfortable feeling was going to be alien to him, though, it was a tad more than an uncomfortable feeling.

"Mm..." Asher said, as his head began to ring, it was like someone was scratching at his brain at the moment. His eyes began to twitch, still closed however, the irritation was spreading. Then a full-blown pang of brainfreeze-like pain washed over his head, and his eyes shot open. He didn't know that this was not the usual feeling, but he had seen other Yamataians and Neko's take it in stride, so he would too.

Go-God dammit... This pain... is... intense... he thought as he gritted his teeth, his brow lowering down above his eyes. Pain was evident, but he wouldn't make an outcry, doing so would've made him feel weak.

H-... How tha' hell... do they do this... s'much...? The pain interupted his thought process. Though, when the process ended, the Hei had broken out into a sweat, and he began to evidently breath heavier. He laid there for a moment, waiting to hear if it had gone through or not.

Re: [restart point] Mission 2

Sora nodded, smiling brightly at Yoroko, "All righty, we'll get you into the examination area and I'll start your work-up."

"Sanjuro-Heisho, if you could grab one of the others for their work-up, please?" She asked her rather stiff co-worker with a bright smile before walking over to one to an Examination table and set-up her work area with the various tools she'd need.

Once she was set-up, she began her questioning of Yoroko to get a feel of the girl's medical history, "Any serious illnesses in the past or trouble adjusting to a new body? Any food allergies or specific dietary preferences? Any trouble sleeping? How do you deal with stress? Have you ever been in combat before? Are you familiar with Mishhu boarding tactics and how do you think you might be able to handle yourself seeing the atrocities they commit?"

Her voice maintained a fairly even positive tone despite some of her questions as she pulled on a pair of sterile silicon based gloves and picked up a short piece of silicon tubing. "I'll need you to expose an arm and then make a fist, Yoroko-san, I need to take a blood sample."

Re: [restart point] Mission 2

Miyoko nodded at the Hoshi's response. "Can I see what you have so far, particularly his training and service records?" She looked to Yukari, "Do you think it would raise any red flags if we did make the inquiry?"

Re: [restart point] Mission 2

Yukari pondered that for a moment. "SARA is in some ways more secretive than SAINT ... and it is not our territory. But the lives of the crew could be affected by us knowing or not." She nodded. "If we leave the stench of SAINT off of our inquiry, we perhaps will be in less danger."

The Shosa nodded. "Hoshi, please show us what is easily accessible first."

Re: [restart point] Mission 2

Nyton gave a look of dismay but followed with a shrug as though it was what he expected. "Perhaps. While the PHALANX has high durability and weapons payload I am more interested in the plasma system it uses."

"The PHALANX would just be a regular space armor if it weren't for the highly versatile plasma system it possesses." he then began to elaborate further, occasionally gesturing with his hands to add to the effect. "The plasma system allows the pilot to not only shoot plasma but to tactically direct it as well. The PHALANX has adequate long range weaponry with the SIAR while medium and close range can be covered with the plasma. The hands and feet have plasma emitters that can direct and focus the plasma however the user desires. He can make weapons of any shape or direct streams of plasma all around him. This would allow the user to even focus on dodging with their body while attacking with the plasma streams. You wouldn't even have to aim."

After a most excited description Nyton sighed. "Perhaps we can find a way to design the plasma emitters for the Daisy."

Re: [restart point] Mission 2

All too soon for Serizawa, the backup was complete and the alcove's helmet lifted away from Asher's head. The thin Yamataian had thoroughly enjoyed seeing the soldier squirm. All Serizawa could do was curse the efficiency and expediency of the process.

"Well, it appears that we're all finished here," Serizawa told Asher as he finalized the backup. "The backup was successful and you're now free to go about your duties."

However, the scientist didn't feel quite as satisfied as he should have. Instead, he decided to toy with Asher just a little more before he left.

"We'll be requiring regular and frequent backups now so we will let you know when you need to report for your next one," Serizawa added, his lips curling into a predatory grin. "Unfortunately, they will get progressively more painful due to the increasing amount of your memories."

Re: [restart point] Mission 2

Kotori considered Nyton's words for a moment. "The Daisy has forearm cannons. Perhaps those cannons could be somehow interchanged for a close ranged weapon like a plasma torch? It would perhaps not be as good as the unit the Phalanx was built around, but then, perhaps it would help make the M6 a stronger close range combatant?"

Re: [restart point] Mission 2

Yoroko pulled back the mesh stocking on her right arm and formed a fist. "I don't think I have an illness, only a little trouble adjusting to the slowness of the Yamataian body. As far as preferences for food I like rice, but I am not too picky." Yoroko said. "As far as sleep is concerned I have had no issues," Yoroko paused as she thought, Except when dummy SLAG rounds are detonating above my head.. "I practice martial arts and other physically demanding activities in order to relieve stress." Yoroko paused to think about what else was asked. Sure are a lot of questions...now what did I miss? she pondered silently for a few seconds before she recalled the rest. "I am unfamiliar with Misshu boarding tactics; However, I was in a brief skirmish with Misshu forces during my time at Ft.Ready. As far as atrocities, I" Yoroko stopped abruptly in mid-sentence, remembering the Neko that had been impaled upon a Misshu tentacle. "I think I will be able to handle it." Yoroko said.

Re: [restart point] Mission 2

Sanjuro took a moment to replace a few more things on his oh-so-interesting shelf before turning back towards the new arrivals. In classic Sanjuro form, the poker-faced doctor took a seat and motioned for one of them.

"Please step forward."

Re: [restart point] Mission 2

"More painful? I didn't feel a thing!" Asher chuckled as he got off the bed and onto his feet. He flexed his right arm and patted the bicep.

"Nothing can make me hurt, man, I'm like zesuaium!" He grinned.

Re: [restart point] Mission 2

"Karl Sylvester. Born nepleslian, soul transfered to geshrin at young age and soul transfered to yamataian once that body type got out," Hoshi recited to Miyoko. "Currently 29 years old. He's 5'11", weights 185 lbs, auburn hair, brown eyes. He is still ranked Ittô Juni. He is currently stationed at the Chiharu Star Fortress, seems to be working at the normal medical detail for the moment - that could be a cover up - and has living quarters for his whole family. He has a wife and two children."

While Hoshi spoke, Hinoto entered the medlab holding two saucers upon which steamed two cups of tea. She offered it to each. "I noticed that Karl Sylvester had a long history of working on the NH series from the point Ketsurui Zaibatsu took over public nekovalkyrja production in PNUgen's stead."

Re: [restart point] Mission 2

Nyton paused in consideration. "That is a possibility. Perhaps it can be researched into. Technological research is not exactly my field of expertise but maybe I can design something suitable. I will look into it." he said. "I suppose I should go get that ST update. Is there anything you need any assistance with?"

Re: [restart point] Mission 2

"Thank you." Miyoko smiled politely to the sprite as she took a cup, sipping from it thoughtfully for a few seconds. She'd initially been surprised that Hinoto integrated herself into the conversation so well, but given how close she seemed to the Hoshi, it wasn't all that surprising. "That part is... interesting. It could be coincidental, but my first instinct, given how he's tied into this whole debacle, is that he could be tasked with testing new potential features of the series. It would explain the Taisa's 'gift' in conjunction with his presence, and why he works with them primarily." She sighed. "... or, it could just be a dumb coincidence. Still, I think it's worth the inquiry." She looked to Yukari, seeking permission to give Hoshi the order.
