Re: [restart point] Mission 2

Miyoko stood, not entirely sure what to do with herself. The ending to her talk with Yukari was a bit unsatisfying--so many questions still unanswered, not to mention that she hadn't gotten a chance to inquire about the birthday thing.

There was the matter of her ST backup, but she was reluctant to go there. It would just feel wrong going from being the only medic on the ship to standing in line for a backup like the other schmucks... and she really didn't look forward to seeing Sanjuro again just yet, either. Still, getting killed with no active backup would be worse than enduring more of the medic's interrogation. Marginally. Giving a defeated sigh, Miyoko set off for the Miharu medical bay.

Re: [restart point] Mission 2

"Please take a seat inside of the alcove and get comfortable, Santo Hei," Serizawa told Kai. "If you'd like to be sedated for the process, now is the time to say so."

As the scientist began to prepare the ST machine for another update, he overheard Nyton ask Sora about the backups.

"I will be conducting the ST backups, Claymere-Shoi," he called out. "If you'd like, I will perform your backup as soon as I am finished with Nakamura-Hei."

Re: [restart point] Mission 2

Sora nodded in agreement with Serizawa from her examination of Yoroko, "That's correct. Ichi-kun is handling the ST back-ups. Sanjuro-san and I are handling the physicals, Claymere-Shoi."

She carefully placed the needle into Yoroko's exposed arm after tapping out a vein, she quickly pulled a vial of blood and removed her needle again. She observed the arm's healing ability for a moment before placing a piece of gauze over the wound. "Go ahead and apply pressure here for a few moments." She smiled, seemingly satisfied with the rate in which the Yamataian's body had repaired itself.

"Very good. Many women have a hard time coping with what the SMX do, but hopefully, we'll not encounter a boarding action. How are you feeling about the Miharu and the other crew so far? This is your first duty assignment, correct?

What did you think of the simulation training as opposed to the training you experienced at Fort Ready? How do you feel about your job dutis now that you're out of training? If you wish to cross train into a different field that you feel might be better suited to you, we could see about arranging it."

Re: [restart point] Mission 2

Yoroko applied pressure to where she was pricked. "The crew seems really nice, although I have only talked with Westwood-Hei. During the simulation I was under Kurohoshi-Juni and Freeman-Juni though, but I haven't really been able to talk to either of them yet. As for the Miharu, she is a beautiful ship."

Yoroko looked around the medlab. "Everything here is bigger than I imagined it would be, especially the rooms. Yes, this is my first duty assignment." Yoroko paused for a moment before continuing, "Ft. Ready is primarily a training institution, as such I imagine there are various things that will be different.

As for my Job duties, while I don't claim to know anymore than my superior officers, I am unsure of what value a fighter craft brings to an engagement. Therefore, I am unsure of what I am really contributing to the Miharu. Either way, I think it would be good for me to become a better armor pilot, as well as becoming familiar with the Ryusei III.

But more importantly, I wonder if someone with a Nekovalkyrja body would be better suited to my position. Although the difference between the reflexes and reaction time between a Neko and a Yamataian is only moderate, while operating at the speeds a fighter or a properly equiped armor might operate at, a Yamataian would be at a serious disadvantage."

Re: [restart point] Mission 2

"I have seen Yamataian power armor pilots excel in hand to hand engagements in the field, I'm sure that you'll do fine, Yoroko-san. What gets most people killed is not really so much their specific species but... the decisions they make out in the field. Going against their first instincts tends to get people severely injured," Sora paused, a soft frown crossed her features for a few moments as she remembered seeing Yuriko get blasted from behind during her first encounter with Eve's people. She shook her head and offered a reassuring smile. "But somethings are not the pilot's fault- there is only so much you can do with enemies that use the same cloaking and detection technology as you and... when you are invading their home turf."

She picked up a diagnostic device and moved it in a vertical movement in front of the front of Yoroko's body. She seemed pleased with the results. "Good tactics and common sense are your most valuable tools out in the battlefield. Familiarity with your power armor is also invaluable, but if you truly feel that being a neko would give you a better edge, it would not be the first time someone has transferred bodies to gain more efficiency or ease at using the system. I wouldn't recommend doing it unless it is truly something you wish to do. Please just consider training more rather than jumping bodies." She set the device down on the counter again and gestured for the woman to stand up.

"Please stand up and touch your toes. Then I would like you to hop on one foot for me. As you do this, I will do my other tests to make sure that you can send and receive encrypted telepathy."

Re: [restart point] Mission 2

Kai looked up at Serizawa and said "Sure, I'll take the Sedation, no need to feel any more pain than necessary, is there?" He said, nodding and sitting in the Alcove.

Re: [restart point] Mission 2

"No," Yoroko said as she stood. "I did not mean to imply I dislike my current body. Quite the oppossite." Yoroko reached down and touched her toes. "I like my body, it symbolizes my freedom, but if it became necessary in order to fulfill my duty I would change it in a heartbeat."

Yoroko stood up and grabbed her left foot and began to hop. "I am ready when you are."

Re: [restart point] Mission 2

Nyton nodded, first to Sora and then to Ichi. "Very well, Serizawa-Hei. Whenever you are ready." he said and walked over to the alcove. He stopped at a fair distance to allow Ichi and Kai to have some privacy while they worked. After doing so he then noticed Masako's arrival.

"Kurohoshi-Juni, over here." Nyton called out while he waved the dark haired neko over to him.

Re: [restart point] Mission 2

Serizawa caused the helmet receptacle to descend over Kai's head once he was seated and comfortable.

"Stay still and continue to breathe normally," Serizawa told Kai.

Within just a few seconds after Serizawa finished speaking, a mask descended from the helmet and covered Kai's nose and mouth. Through a small tube attached to the mask, an anesthetic gas was pumped in, forcing Kai to breathe it in. A moment was all it took to knock Kai out cold and the scientist silently performed the backup on the unconscious man.

When the process was finished and the mask lifted away from Kai's face. All Serizawa had left to do was wait for the sedative to wear off in a couple moments and usher the soldier out of the alcove.

Re: [restart point] Mission 2

Sora observed Yoroko's balance and nodded. "What scares you the most?" She asked kindly Yoroko through encrypted telepathy.

And then she sent a message through regular telepathy, "You can stop hopping now."

"Good balance, and flexibility check out. Are you able to use your body's anti-gravity capabilities? I'd like to see you hover at about a foot from the deck for me."

Re: [restart point] Mission 2

What scared Yukari at that moment was Hinoto.

The snowy-haired sprite had read her mind. Or overheard it, before she'd even said anything. Steaks were already laid out on foil inside the kitchen, cooked in different ways and awaiting whatever dressings or additions Yukari wanted to add. Also finished were the rolls. Yukari needed to do the salads, but that took minutes.

Hinoto smiled in the face of Yukari's incredulous glare. "The kitchen has very efficient appliances, when used properly."

Yukari snorted. However, with those things aside, she decided to start work on the other part of the dinner she had planned. That required frosting, a few mixes ... some candles ... yes, that should be enough.

Re: [restart point] Mission 2

Masako was continuing her previous thoughts, going into one of her circular arguments as she was called by Nyton. Head coming up slowly, she seemed to finally recognize that she was being called over. It wasn't in an official manner, more like a casual invitation really. Allowing a smile to cross her lips, the young neko stepped over to the taller Nepleslian Officer.

"Hello, Claymere-Shoi," she greeted as she maneuvered beside him.

Re: [restart point] Mission 2

Nyton smiled down at Masako as she approached. "Hello there. I suppose we should get these ST's done and over with." he began. "So, what did you think of our simulation? Quite the interesting resolution I would say. Our post brief was colorful too."

Re: [restart point] Mission 2

Yoroko stopped and contemplated the question for a second. "What scares me most?" she repeated, "I didn't used to have too many fears, other than death. Now, the thing that scares me most is the thought that we could be wrong. What if we are the 'bad guys', not the Misshu." Yoroko responded somberly through encrypted telepathy.

Yoroko nodded her head and began to raise her body off of the deck. "It isn't as responsive as the Neko's but it still works." Yoroko said.

Re: [restart point] Mission 2

Miyoko stepped into the Miharu medical lab, instantly taken aback by how many people were in there. Far too many people for her tastes. On the other hand, it could give her something to do.

As they all seemed about equally busy, Miyoko chose to approach the highest-ranked medical officer, Sora. She approached the woman's conversation with Yoroko and silently dipped a bow, awaiting permission to speak.

Re: [restart point] Mission 2

"As much as they might be trying to liberate themselves, I've seen them eating and raping women at the same time. For me, it's hard to sympathize with them as hard as it is for me to sympathize with Eve for torturing Yuumi and eating those children. We do many things but raping people is not one of them... nor is eating our enemies," [Sora responded through encrypted telepathy to Yoroko. There was a very concerned tone to her mental voice but she was kind enough to not share the imagery.

"Very good Yoroko-Hei, you may come down now. Go ahead and proceed to the ST alcove. Serizawa-Heisho will assist you there." Sora smiled brightly at Yoroko and turned to face Miyoko. She returned the woman's bow and adjusted her hair as she came back into a regular upright position. "How can I assist you this afternoon?"

Re: [restart point] Mission 2

"I apologize for interrupting you. It just seemed appropriate to offer my help with the process, since I was unable to be here when you began." Miyoko rose from the bow, awaiting an answer.

Re: [restart point] Mission 2

Sora continued smiling brightly. "It's always good to have more hands available to get through the full work-ups. I think Sanjuro has one person to do a work-up on and...I'm actually not sure just how many more we'll need to go through today. I know that Serizawa's and my medical records are up to date. At some point we'll have to update Sanjuro's when he isn't conducting examinations." She paused as she noticed the line forming over in the alcove.

"Do you know if Miharu has another ST alcove on Hoshi? We might be able to speed this up by sending some people to the other lab to get back-ups, if there is one and if you might be willing to help them there?"

Re: [restart point] Mission 2

Yuril felt a little out of place just standing off by her lonesome in the lab. She took note of both Asher and Kai's ST along with noting Yoroko's exam. The neko was still a bit afraid of the ST thing... But she decided it was just first-time jitters; everyone had those right?

Re: [restart point] Mission 2

Seeing that the line for ST backups was growing rather quickly, Serizawa figured he had to move things along. Reaching into the ST alcove, he grabbed Kai by the shoulder and gave him a quick but firm shake to rouse him from his unconscious state.

"Santo Hei," Serizawa told the sleeping soldier, "I need you to wake up so that we can get the others can get their backups done. The sedative should be wearing off at any moment but, if you need to, you can rest on one of the beds in the main treatment area until you are ready."
