RP: United Outer Colonies [UCS Vanguard, Former Asuka peeps] Mission to Mitsuya

Lolion shook his head at Noboru who had risen back into the air with the rest of them. Lolion decided to stay quiet about it and kept his mind on the mission and any new orders from Miyako. As he was flying though a jet of hot air and debris gushed up from a crack up ahead of him. He quickly rolled to avoid the geyser which was now spewing lava right where he would have been had he not moved.

"Holy,..." Lolion blurted out into the chat as it happened. "Thank god for reflexes" He said as he recovered and returned to the formation. "Keep an eye out for more of those and point them out so we don't get fried." Lolion said to the group as a whole "Our suits may be able to withstand this heat but I doubt it can stand up much against molten rock very well."

(ooc: im always starting a new page...lol.)

Denkou, noting his squadmate's mistake, pulled up at the last second, hovering about 2 feet above the ground. He sent a brief acknowledgment of his orders, and for the time being, just moved about, scoping out the land, and noting tactical features automatically.

The planet was littered with lava flows, red cracks in the crust, and massive techtonic movement. At times, the crust would quake side to side, up and down...to where the people had to rely solely on their instruments for altitude.

In the distance, a particularly large volcano was in mid eruption, and with a deafening noise, the whole north side of the volcano collapsed in a violent display.

"XO,... the sooner we can grab a sample and scout a bit more and leave the better." Lolion said to Miyako. "Or we should at least move to a higher altitude than near the surface. Being this low is dangerous. If you want I can grab a few samples right now so we can get that out of the way?" Lolion suggested. Lolion was worried about the status of how well the others in the group were holding up. This is definitely not the kind of mission I would have brought some of these members on, Lolion though as he looked over to Mist and Yuki.

Roken let out a sigh of relief as Noboru recovered from his landing, very foolish but he's still alive thankfully.

He maintained a safe distance from the surface when he noticed the eruption, Roken took steps to make sure he was at a safe distance sending an alert to the rest of the squad to the eruption before he returned to checking any other Major seismic activity.

"I have never been this close to a developing planet." Roken was not sure if it was developing or not he just assumed it was.

((ooc: thx I will have to try a little harder when i check my post xD ))

Yuki grimaced at the loud sounds during descent. Not exactly a pleasant sound... too loud... and deadly. At least the armor prevented them from being torn to bits.

Close to the surface, Yuki floated with the others, merely watching what the others were doing, briefly, before floating only a tiny ways away to observe a lava flow.

Neh, Mist-san. Etto... should I have melted by now? I am Yuki.... she sent to Mist. It was a rather lame attempt at a joke.

(Just for those who don't understand, yuki means snow.)

((ooc: For future reference, blackdragon, it's seismic.))

Keiei moved around, shifting rapidly at times to avoid small bubbles of expanding lava. Miyako-san?, he sent. Exactly what kind of samples are we looking for? So far as I can tell, the contents of the surface don't change much except to grow slightly more dense and hot as we near a volcano, so anywhere should do if all we need is a surface sample.

Mist was a little dizzy. The sudden appearance of gravity.. and the fall.. was a bit much for the former sprite. Her stomach screamed at her to vomit, but she resisted. She did, however, laugh slightly at Yuki's rather lame joke.

Using her friend as a slight support due to her wobbly knees, the Jiyuuian replied, Well, I'm glad you didn't melt, Yuki-san, 'cause I would miss you... Mist smiled as her legs soon became strengthened enough for her to stand on her own.

"Well, seeing as you're so keen on collecting samples, Lolion, there's a good-sized chunk of something wedged into my knee joint." Noboru said, wrenching the black rock out of the small gap with his Tenshi's gauntleted hand. He then tossed it over to his squadmate and turned towards Miyako.

"Ma'am, requesting permission to take a lava sample."

"No lava. We're taking these back by hand and the CO doesn't need lava. Let Lolion keep the rock. Lolion, don't need the help running such a small team but thank you." Miyako noted with a hint of amusement at their back and forth, not so much her addendum to it. The flight was still going will enough, and the planet was proving an interesting obstacle course for some soldiers who could use the practice. The officer thought of herself as one of them but wasn't about to share.

We're looking for anything interesting, nothing major. Look sharp. The XO spun her armor just to jumble the dials a bit, then shot up another 20 meters and led the squad away from the direction the eruption would start to blanket. Shifting crust was one thing but eruptions were something she didn't intend to lose a fresh team inside of. "We're already picking up data, and do *not* hit the deck again unless you need a sample. Only what you can carry in one hand. I'm watching you Noboru." The unit updates on everyone's armour spread out the formation into something a bit more wide than a 'flying v' with Miyako at point, making it simpler to maneuver if need be without worrying about bumping the squad. "Standby to increase speed. Scans first then more rocks."

Denkou moved into position at one end of the V, and started running active scans, watching out for anything unusual. Orders acknowledged ma'am, will do.

"Nice throw Noboru" Lolion said as he caught the rock from Noboru and moved to the back of the other side of the V opposite of Denkou. "Understood" Lolion replied to Miyako as he did a roll in midair partially to show off and push the suit to its limits. Lolion was still nervous for the non-regular power armor pilots but he decided to let the XO deal with that. Lolion kept his scan running and occasionally when he saw a rock up ahead that interested him he swooped down and grabbed it adding to the few he had collected so far.

"Aye, Sub-lieutenant Miyako." Noboru assumed his position in the formation at the rear of the left wing. He passively scanned the landscape for whatever it is that the flight lead was looking for.

Of course, that meant scanning everything, and scanning everything didn't do much in terms of keeping one on task. Noboru nevertheless remained alert as the scanner went back and forth, back and forth, searching the landscape.

Neh, are you okay Mist-san? Yuki sent, wondering due to Mist's need to use her as a bit of support to stand. Her tiny smile at Mist actually laughing any amount at that horrid joke was quickly replaced with a look of worry.

Etto, let's get going.... The caretaker slowly floated a position in the 'V,' though she kept with Mist just in case. If the former sprite needed help, Yuki would be sure to be there to help.

"Reglo! Who gave you orders to break formation?" The display of his armour flashed at the officer while he was flying. She was starting to realize he might have a discipline problem, which didn't bode well for a crewman on Yumiko's ship. She allowed people to be less formal at a cost: screwing up on a mission would get you much worse attention.

Highlighting an area on the upcoming scan, Miyako flashed an order to Noboru, Denkou, and Mist's armours: "Noboru, Uindo: grab a small sample each from the rock slide area ahead. Be careful. Kage, there's a plateau after that you'll be the next dive. Watch for tectonic shift."

Roken formed up with the others on the right, keeping an eye on anything unusual while the others grabbed samples.

"It would be interesting find something a little more interesting than just a few rocks," Roken said as he looked down at the lava flow. He hoped that they would at least then they could bring back something different.

Noboru came down to within inches of the slide, and with laser precision swiped a few samples and stuffed them into a compartment on his armor.

"Samples collected, Sub-lieutenant. Any other zones you need samples from?"

Lolion bit his lip at his XO's question. "No one Ma'am, I just saw a few rocks that stood out among the rest and went to collect them." Lolion replied remembering his fathers scolds for not following directions just then. Lolion knew he screwed up and decided to not take any more initiative unless told otherwise.

Dropping down, Denkou swiped a sampler, then on second thought grabbed a second that looked different just in case. Rejoining the formation, he simply cruised along, scanning and marking locations for possible samples.

Just then, a distress call came from Minami's team.

"SOS! Technonic shift has--....buried! Please assist!"
