RP: YSS Ryūjō YSS Ryūjō - Mission 0 - The Meet Up

Messhall

Nichols hadn't put any thought into whether or not Errowyn would return from her quest for a refill. This was partially due to the inexperienced pilot's exhaustion with the responsibility of flying from what felt like from one end of the known galaxy to the other. With such a twisted state of excitement about his first real assignment and being too tired to care, Nichols had propped his head up in his left hand whilst the rest of his arm kept him from slamming his face into the table. Such a fragile balance was destroyed when Nichols seemed to slip off into a brief unconsciousness and his arm relaxed and didn't bother to keep his head up any longer. The end result was the Nepsleslian pilot's head collide against the table. Nichols wasn't known for his high pain tolerance, so when pain settled in across his nose and forehead, he might've preferred it at the moment if someone had just thrown a drink in his face. The pilot picked his head back up with his left hand pressed under his nose to check if he'd hit it hard enough to cause bleeding. Thankfully this was not the case and beyond embarrassment and a headache, he assumed he'd be fine.

At this rate 'Butterfingers' will be my callsign if I can't stop screwing up royally in front of people.

A sigh escaped the pilot as he took count of the pairs of eyes that were looking his way before he leaned back in his seat with the hope if he acted like he was calm they'd find something else to joke about. Yet before he could say anything to Errowyn, the sight of the Chusa and some Neko in civilian clothing. Such a scene helped Nichols forget how embarrassed he was for the moment as he waited to see what would happen after the Chusa and whoever this new arrival was finished their conversation.

Errowyn snickered at Nichols when he planted his face on the table. Seeing that he was about to make witty remark but the moment passed as his attention was drawn to something behind her. She turned to look to see what had drawn his attention.

It was the handsome man that the she had seen earlier with all the females around him. She shook her head as there was another new female before him in civilian attire. She tilted her head as there was something familiar about her. A mannerism that triggered something subconsciously.

She grabbed her electronic notepad and turned it on. Displaying the old crew of the 21st. She glanced at the picture she was working on.

~~ "Hunter?!" ~~ She mentally broadcasted her thought outwards in surprise. But wasn't sure as there was a trace of doubt in the mental broadcasting of the one word. She even mouthed the name silently at the same time.

The way her fate or luck been running. It would turn out to be someone totally different that could pass for her twin.

Meiko listened to him and nodded a bit. "So I suppose that means we'll be working close, since you're a doctor of...some degree... as well and will be situated in the medical room for dentistry based things? Lets do our best for the ship. Meiko looks towards the captain and smiles a bit before looking towards Ume. "It is proper etiquette." She stood up and Saluted the Chusa.

Megami heard the talk about the Chusa and after a moment of noticing mostly everyone still talking she stood up and called out in a rather booming voice for a Neko of such stature. "Captain on DECK" She saluted as per regulation.

Protocol must be adhere, Errowryn stood at attention, ~~So this is the Chusa.~~ She thought to herself as she kept an eye on the Neko that stood before him. She'll figure something out to meet the oe she thought of as 'Hunter' from the 21st.

Sebastian stood, as she was trained, when the announcement was made and waited for the Captain to give them the go-ahead to sit down once more. Though her arm was still bothering her, she didn't let it show.

Nichols flinched when the sounds of private conversation turned into one voice that echoed over the rest in the effort of alerting everyone present that the Chusa was present. Despite his exhaustion, the Nepleslian pilot wasn't as drained as he'd exaggerate if someone was to ask him and once he'd cleared his seat he spun around to face the Chusa at the same time as he fixed his right hand

Now what would keep the commanding officer from a crew meeting for this long?

Takeyu listened as Yaeko introduced herself and spoke of her vacation, he hadn't realized that one of his officers had been pulled - it was rather unusual for such a thing to happen unless it was an emergency. "Sorry to hear that your vacation was cut short, it is unusual to say the least, but I am glad you are here," he smiled at Yaeko and then turned toward the rest of the crew, they were ready for him.

Hiring Meiko's 'captain on deck' made him smile broadly. "At ease," he said and rubbed the back of his neck - he was still not used to being a captain despite having served already onboard the Soyokaze.

"Go ahead and find a seat Shoi, and let's get things started," the captain walked over toward where the majority of the crew were. "Alright people, let's quiet down, we have a briefing to start," he spoke as he walked over to the far side and in front of the entire crew. "You all know who I am, so I will skip the introduction, command wants us out of drydock and on our first mission as soon as possible; thus I want you all to pay close attention."

"Command wants us to search out and recapture planets taken during the last war, while also re-establishing contact with some of our outer colonies and outposts that also dropped out of contact shortly after the start of, and before the end of, the war." The captain was silent for a few moments before he continued. "There is another reason though, recently SAINT has noticed some suspicious activity in the galactic southwest, beyond the Ketsurui Military Sector. So once we launch I want all of you to be on your feet and ready for action, just in case we run into anyone 'not' willing to talk and instead willing to fire a shot at us."

"Questions?" The captain slowly looked over the crew.

Amatsukaze-hei nodded to Kioko with a definitely captivated expression, swirling the half straw around like she was stirring a giant vat rather than a simple mug of tea. "Sounds delightful. You seem to be the type to toy with your biology the way I mod patch software. At the end of the day, it may not be all that different you know... DNA is really like the firmware of our artificial bodies and can be changed in a similar way. Flash and go! But the question is... why reptiles?" The tiny engineer squinted a moment with her cerise pink eyes as she left that one hanging.

And it looked like it would have to stay unanswered as both her visor's and Megami's voiced alarms clearly gave a shrill warning of the sudden presence of the Chusa at the room entrance. "Though you may want to focus that lovely pair of snake eyes on who just came in," suggested the mini-Neko as she gave a tiny salute, idly wondering if he still had been dragging around Kakeru's rock this whole time. "You too, Shinozaki-kun, now's the time to turn on that excessive bowing of yours and listen."

Ume had given a nod to Meiko and stood up with her to salute the Chusa just as Magami made her call. When then asked she sat ack down and listened closely to what was being said, which was a bit of a surprise to her. She had not pictured them retaking planets, but certainly she would enjoy the experience and she would get to see all sorts of different worlds. Now she understood why she was reinstructed on vehicle controls, since it would be useful in atmosphere. "It sounds like we'll get to see lots of fun places." She spoke lowly so only Meiko and Henry could hear.

Errowyn resumed her seat once given permission to. She listened to the Chusa as she looked over the rest of the crew assembled. It was the typical fare for the Star Army forces since NMX were on the retreat. With ground forces it would up to her and the two pilots to gain and keep air superiority to provide help to the infantry. She was planning out her tactic with payloads that the other two pilots would be carrying.

Half of the time was just winging it and going on what she had experienced and seen of her leaders aboard the Heitan. If she was going to be in charge, she was going to be prepped, present it with confidence like it was the correct thing to do and not have to second guess herself in middle of a mission.

Henry saluted with the rest of them and quickly took back his seat and returned to his previous state of lounging when released. "Yes, but there is likely going to be some kind of trouble, I'd stake my money on it." He whispered back. He had no questions for the Chusa, any question he had could only be answered by time. The burning question in his head was whether he could take the Chusa's money over car- I mean, whether he was going to be engaging any air units. "Speaking of which, we should ask that Errowyn lass whether we're expected to walk around in our flight suits all day, just in case. Oh, perish the thought." He certainly wasn't going to raise any questions over something so peripheral. Doc Holliday placed a leg on his knee, listening attentively to anything else the Chusa may bring up or questions raised by the crew.

"You too, Shinozaki-kun, now's the time to turn on that excessive bowing of yours and listen."

"Hai, Sempai." If anyone could give an impression of bowing without actually bowing, Kakeru just did, as they all stood to greet the Chu-sa.

After listening to the Chu-sa's speach, Kakeru could not but help frown in response. "There really isn't a lot of information in this so called briefing. I know briefings are supposed to be "brief", but this is a bit .... short. What does he mean by "suspicious activity"? Dancing bears? NMX having a fund raiser complete with balloons and cake? And we are to "recapture planets", what other ships have been assigned to our squadron for the invasion fleet? And who's the Tai-sha in charge? I can't imagine them prying a Sho-sho out from a fleet to lead a raiding squadron."

Despite being asked for questions, he decided to wait and see if the answers would come naturally. After all, as they said in the Academy, even questions are information of sorts and not to be given out too freely. Speaking of which, he also needed to check if the cute Neko with the tube top and mini skirt was the CO's lover. If she was the cause of him being late, that might be a problem that had to be reflected in his next report to SAINT. More paperwork. Damn. Personally, he felt that it was impossible that someone in authority could be so frivolous, but the casefiles that they stuffed this new brain of his with when he changed bodies said otherwise.

Once he'd been given permission to, Nichols fell back into his seat again whilst his ears captured the Chusa's voice. Other than the rather bland questions the pilot knew everyone else might've had in their heads, Nichols was curious as to what SAINT deemed 'suspicious activity'. Surely if it was NMX they'd be rather specific in that regard, but such a vague two-word description caused the Nepleslian pilot to scratch his head in confusion.

"One question, Chusa." Nichols raised his voice, though only enough he would be heard clearly and not sound obnoxious. "Would SAINT have an idea as to the purpose of this unidentified variable and what they're capable of?" A nervous twist in his stomach followed soon after Nichols began to wonder what range of equipment this unknown force had. Yet before he could immerse himself too greatly he leaned back in his seat and crossed his arms as he put his thoughts on pause so he could clearly hear the response the Chusa had for him.

Meiko

Meiko sat after saluting was finished and looked at Ume with a bit of a smile. She nodded and gave Ume a slight nudge with her hip. "Yeah, lots of fun, and amusing things for us probably. Hopefully not as dangerous as the Soyokaze was...last thing I want is to see you have holes in your body again..." She shivers a bit with a sigh. She began paying attention to the captain again after that.

Megami

Megami finished her salute and sat back down resuming her watching of everyone, listening to the captain and his orders as well, she smiled ever so slightly at the prospect of doing new things that'll test many of her already hard programed and learned skills...

Mess Hall

Kioko smiled at mini-neko while she listened to her talk then nodded "I didn't decide Reptile it wasss my mother'sss choice, I didn't like it at firssst but have grown to love it, I may even get a tail at sssome point because I would like to sssee what having a tail isss like."

Kioko turned and saw who had entered and stood up straight and saluted quickly feeling embarrassed that she had not noticed the Captain enter before. She went back to her wall after bidding her comrades bye and watched the crowd, her tongue flicking in and out every so often as she listened to the Captain's orders 'That is why the SAINT wanted me out here' she shrugged and looked over at her friends and comrades again happy to be here.

Sebastian sat down when she was allowed and listened to what the Chusa was saying. She now understood why the crew was as motley as it was. Not only were they all from different parts of the Military itself, they were all from different walks of life. Ones that may be able to help in the reclaiming of the planets without too much hassle, but still able to take by force if necessary. She chewed on her inner lip as she listened and watched others, not having any questions of her own at the moment.

"Don't you worry about me," Yaeko responded to Takeyu with a giggle, "It was only a couple hours that I lost, nothing that I wasn't going to spend recovering anyways." With a big smile she whipped around, her brow hair flipping through the air, and skipper her way to the other side of the mess hall, making sure to wink at Errowyn as she passed by.

"Long time no see Hellcat. Catch up over a drink after this? Assuming we have the time."

Dropping into a seat, she spent more time glancing around the room than she did pay attention to the briefing. From what made it's way into her head it seemed pretty standard: Sit on standby, kill anything that pops up. Although it would be quite different without a full squadron to back her up, but maybe she would be able to convince the Chusa to request some EWO's for her pilots, if nothing other than to keep them company in-flight.

"When the brief is over I'd ask for a moment to go over some personnel questions."

Even though 'Hunter's actions were unusual, but there were those mannerisms that still remained. It was nice to have them confirmed by the wink in passing from Yaeko and the message. A soft smile appeared as her posture turned more confident and relieved that there was someone that she could learn command from. Whether Yaeko liked it or not, She was going to get a follower dogging her steps with billions of questions.

~~ "We'll Make Time, Hunter!" ~~ Errowyn shot back via telepathic, with a bit more tempered steel than the first time they've met aboard YSS Heitan.

Takeyu nodded at Nicol. "Not as of yet, SAINT doesn't have much information on them except a few images. Outside of that, whomever this is seems to be trying to stay under SAINTS rader, we only picked them up when they got close to our territory."

The captain stepped to the side as a volumetric display appeared, flashing into existence were several oddly shaped objects, there wasn't much detail to them; and it was obvious based on the images that it was photo's taken from an intelligence probe. "These are the only images that we have of the activity that SAINT wants us to investigate, we also have some transmissions that will need to be analyzed in hopes of better understanding 'who' it is we might be up against."

The captain shifted the image, showing a group of planets in a star system located beyond the military sector. "Our first destination is going to be a planet that our people had colonized just a short while before the war had started, there is no data on why this colony fell out of communications only that it did. One of our listening posts 'did' pick up a transmission from the planet, but it was to garbled to make any sense, we have a copy of it so perhaps we'll have better luck at decyphering whatever was sent our way."

Again the captain stopped, looking across the crew. "Any questions?"

"For once..." Yaeko started with a smirk. "For once in all my years, I might me able to do what I was trained for. One of the things frequently glossed over on my personnel file is that I'm not actually a pilot, I'm a communications specialist that they slapped into a cockpit. If it's alright with you Chusa, I might try taking a stab at this transmission. Maybe I can pull something from it." She looked pretty proud of herself, it really had been years since she was able to make use of her primary training.
