Trying to design a uniform for the IPG group. Please ignore the lameness of the pose and the unpolished look of the picture. What do you think of the design? The criteria was as following : Evil, gray/white/black as color scheme. I used parts of regular nepleslian uniform design : the lenght of the jacket, boots and high neck, to make it look somewhat related. There's also some second world war influences to it.

Hello everyone, I'm a fan of Sci Fi, video games and all those things we tend to spend way too much time on. My biggest passion however is drawing, so as requested by Wes and by my personal interest I'm here to offer my skills to you guys. Here are some samples: If you want to see more please visit my Deviantart gallery here: http://zairyo.deviantart.com/ If you want to commission me please make sure you are willing to spend at least $10.00 and that you have a Paypal account. Thanks for your time.
In my quest to find more artwork for StarArmy, we've found a few great character artists but so far we've had basically nothing for mechanical stuff, like power armors and starships--that should change. On 4chan's /m/ forum I ran into the artist and local anime convention guest Newton Ewell. Newton has illustrated Roleplay books (including Palladium's Macross RPG) and is a real professional. Unfortunately, he also charges some heavy duty prices ($150 per piece). Anyway, Newton offered to do illustrations for Star Army and today I'm going to commission him to start out with the Mindy M2-2.
here is an image i found online. Ignoreing the text what does everyone think about the kind of concept shown. It appears to be a more realistic power armor. Reminds me of something you would see in a command and conquer game or the mecha from the "Second renisance" episode in the AniMatrix. https://stararmy.com/starchan/starships/src/1176269331611.jpg
Hey all, I was recently commissioned by Wes to do 4 full body portraits so I thought it would be a good idea to get a forum account so I can post the sketches here for approval and get feedback and whatnot. ^^ So I've read as much as I can about the characters I'll be drawing, but if I make a mistake about something don't hesitate to correct me! I'll post the commissions I've been assigned and any questions/thoughts I have about them that anyone can answer. Right now my commissions are: Aripael Goriass--Should I draw in him in Senator clothing or the uniform for the Navy? Or does it matter? Matthew Lionheart--I just can NOT find an illustration of a flash patch that goes on his uniform hat! Please help ;_; Elysian...

Hi, I was introduced to this site by my friend Fian. And I am interested in doing commissioned artworks. Other than these http://ncrest.livejournal.com/8385.html#cutid1 , I do not have any notable work to present. But I am willing to produce one artwork of your choice free of charge to assure you of my services.
Shadow of soft satin separate snake-like sophistication of silky shades of darkness. Must the serenity of the shadows be broken? Or must the silently simple shades of light stand up? Still the season of certain rebellion has secured its stature upon this silvery land of shadows. And the sophisticated separate from the simple must save and secure this shady realm. Like? Should I make more?
This is where my 2D art will be found, and maybe my 3D art as well. I'll start things off with a picture of Toshiro's older brother, Yuki Kenichi. http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y30/MM007/yukikenichi.png Yuki Kenichi TOWERS over other Geshrin at a height of over six feet, three inches, and is even taller than his younger brother, Toshiro, who is six feet tall. Though built like a brick wall, Kenichi is a very likable and easygoing guy off duty, but knows when to toughen up and do his job. He is very respectful to his superiors, and is a Ronin Elite Pilot, though a bit of customization was needed to accomodate his height. Yuki Kenichi went MIA during the destruction of Ralfaris in YE 26, and is presumed dead. (I don't...
I just discovered Flash's drawing tools and with my tablet, I just rushed this up in under 60 seconds. Considering the same would take me 20 minutes in Illustrator, I am thuroughly impressed. Give it 20 minutes and I could probably clean this up into a nice diagram. Now, I thought this was interesting because there must be billions of little methods of creating good looking stuff. Tell me what's impressed you and what you've stuck with. Hopefully, we can learn from one another and discover some awesome CG techniques or apps. Anything from your technique with a dodge tool to custom brushes or tricks with a scanner or tablet!! :)
This is my third batch artwork for the Freespacers. The first ones were just crude doodles, that you could see around the Wiki articles on them. The second ones were like the Druidess...good, but did them in such high resolution and detail on that they took forever to finish. So for this third batch I just, "Aww, screw it. I'm going to sketch, have fun, and not worry too much about perfect quality." Lo and behold, these were fun to draw, turned out extremely well given how little effort I put into them. Most importantly, however, they were quick. Which fecking rocks. __________ First picture: https://stararmy.com/starchan/character_ ... 077716.png __________ Second picture: https://stararmy.com/starchan/character_ ...
((Since it was an unanswered question in the last thread, I made this poll to answer it[basically].)) I figured I could just go ahead and make a few badges and banners for the Star Army of Yamatai. This is so that Yamatai WH40k players(if there are any) can enjoy a unique symbolism that only Yamataian players can enjoy(basically.) This is the result of my work, I used the ship patches for the badges, however, since the Yagumo has no ship patch, I used the humming bird. As you can see, I also provided 3 different sorts of banners, one is a clear, one flag design. I'll demonstrate how they all look in the ingame, I used the Eldar, since mainly, most people take Yamatai as Eldar. Personally I think Yamataians could probably...
"We serve no one but ourselves, our interests and our greed. Those that stand in our way will be ground as dust beneath our heels. Those that join us in our way will reap the rewards and suffer the calamitiese as our brethren. "We are the hand that guides the universe. All things bend to our whims. Through actions that serve the law and hinder it, we will bring about change, inspire leadership, and instill fear. "When at last we lay down our arms in death our final thoughts will not be of our wealth or our glory, but the fate that changes with our passing. Pirates though we be, we are the standard against which others are proved."
This idea started out as figuring out a Nepleslian(At least, for the NSS Alliance) color scheme for WH40k units. Then it went around to coming up with a badge and banner(since I had made a Tau army the night before called, 'The Nepleslian Death Brigade'.) This is the result: Along with this are some ingame shots of the badge and banner. In the Army Painter. On a preconstructed building. On Imperial Guardsmen, standing at attention. And on the pride and glory itself, the banner.
Here's the Mobile factory ship for my Flux Story, with the MFCC NSS Divinity pretty much to scale. This ship was built after the destruction of the Carthage asteroid base during the Yamatain retaliation after the destruction of their home system. It was designed by Carthage's Hydra 7 Division and designed as a mobile factory that could transport up to 8 Axis class MFCC and numerous smaller ships. She also isn't designed for front line combat, seeing as she has no large main super gun. I've considered having Yaichiro dabble in music...while I'm not a superb musician, I have a small song I wrote for him that he might write ICly, if well recieved...the reason three lines become two is because the beat actually changes. Dad was born a rich man, Never had to worry ‘bout where his next meal would be comin' from... Mom was a woman of fortune, Sought the easy way To her time in the sun... The Sum of Those Parts, Tryin' to beat the odds... I want to be a better man, To be more than just The Sum of those Parts Is a goal everyone should understand... Dad only got spoiled, By bullying the smaller ones, He wants to be rich as he can... Mom kept seekin' the fast track ‘Till she beat the dice, And slept with the...
I'm having some trouble cleaning up my sketches and I'd like to hear some of the techniques you guys like to use. Leutre says if I blur a sketch, I should see the line-art and how everything would come together but I'm just not seeing it. Leu, could you post an example of this? I'd also really like some tips for mixing realistic skin-colors and techniques for shading that create realistic looking materials (for example, latex, leather, wool and metal are four I'm having trouble with). I'd also really like to learn how I can achieve a really polished look to my work. Here's what my stuff's like at the moment (oldest to newest, top to bottom) NSFW - Not Safe For Work (or any environments like that, eg school) Miriaria...
Hey all, I'm looking into improving my 3D technique. I always end up with mixed lines and polygons trying to eat eachother and I'm not familiar with using Cinema 4D's bevel tool properly. Could someone either link me some good Cinema 4D tutorials or good anything tutorials where I can work on my modelling technique? Here's a sample. My shot at a rifle. <center> </center>
A Haiku is a Japanese form of poetry, with 5 syllables in the first line, 7 in the second, and 5 in the last line. Here's two examples: <center>Sekiko Beauty and free mind, Afflicted by fate and love, She lives in two worlds. James Appreciate him, A dreamer and loyal friend, What spirit, this wolf!</center> This thread is here for Haiku on the boards...I figured we could each write a nice haiku about whoever posted in this thead last, as a fun activity. Also, if you have any other haiku to post, put them up as well! It should be a good change of pace from the political battles that have recent caused some distress in the Aethenaeum.
So, who's interested in Star Army patches? I recently acquired a contaact that can make custom patches at about three bucks a piece, provided we place a minimum order of 50. It would be great for cosplay, putting on jackets/bags, or BDUs for us airsoft players. I figure the design would be a 3" diameter "hinomaru"/Mindy logo.
https://stararmy.com/starchan/maps/src/1171899206098.png Went out of town for two days, forgot to bring my PSP. Stylus pad plus boredom equals The Great Lighthouse; The Freespacer so-called homeworld. Everything is completely hand drawn, since my laptop couldn't handle any of the advanced Photoshop distortion and filter tools without locking up. Once again, I had problems choosing between the mechanized and religious aspects of the Freespacers, so I drew both. The scale and angling may seem funny, but its actually a dwarf planet with a surface area not even 3% of Earth's. Thus everything seems to warped, since the surface curvature is many times greater than standard planets. Alternatively this means it has low mass, and very...
I had a gun concept a long while ago; this is the heavily revised version. http://img510.imageshack.us/img510/9876/minigausshf6.png The MiniGauss uses a variety of different ferrous slugs ranging from nickel to depleted uranium, and includes a spare magazine, lanyard for magazine, two spare batteries, and a double-slot charger. (STEALTH EDIT: I turned your image into a url, as Wes wants images that stretch the forum's width to be treated that way. Sorry 'bout that. -- Doshii)
Okay. Now that I've set upon Deoradh ships, time for the people! I've been drawing tons of tech lately, but no (good looking) people. So I decided to alleviate that problem. If she seems a bit familiar, you may remember [her predecessor]. One of my first drawings when I was still just learning photoshop and how to work a stylus pad, so low quality compared to what I can do now. Requesting critique and advice. Not just on their appearance, but my drawing style. Anything out of proportion, or looks particularly bad? Yes, I know its a bit punkish and slightly Gothic. This 'badass' character was supposed to contrast a second more 'good' character I was drawing, but at my current CG rate I won't be finished the second any time soon. Hence...
I'm willing to do songs for characters/storylines. I can do anything from rock to folk style songs, and am currently playing with drinking songs.... I can't write the music to go with it, but the rythem and lyrics go a long way. This poem sucks (You have been warned)! First verse can't be much worse Just a bit too loud and far too terse Second verse, it's the same as the first Just a little bit louder and a little bit worse Third verse is the same as the second Now this poem is worse then I reckoned Fourth verse repeats the third This whole thing is getting absurd Fifth verse, sounds like the forth I think it's time to move up north Sixth verse looks like the fifth Does this guy think he's a good wordsmith...
Okay, for the Deoradh ship concepts I decided to try thinking outside the box. But I couldn't decide where. At first I considered a blocky, patchwork mechanical mass on account of their brutally low starship technology level. At the same time, I thought a more graceful, sleek, and lightweight design would be appropriate due to their spirituality and ecological-minded ideologies. Finally there was a third, style I could use: Round, organic ships covered primarily in dome gardens so they could best harvest solar energy for food/environmental stasis. Long story short, I couldn't decide. So when I was drawing this I unintentionally mixed all three. Now it just looks plain ugly. >.> https://stararmy.com/starchan/starships/ ... 748924.jpg...
A little something I made in a few days. http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/48029011/ It took ages to get the names together, trust me. And making an expanded version (even more things to add) will mean hell. Anyway, any comments/suggestions?
Hey all. I'm the new art guy who's supposed to do commissions for this site. I got the offer from Wes after posting a nudie picture I drew of Eri from School Rumble over at 4chan's /e/, and I'm currently working out the details with him. Anyway, since I don't have much of a portfolio, apart from some rather perverted pictures, I figured I'd offer to a couple of free pictures to make up for it. Since these are free, I'd prefer requests that aren't too complicated to pull off. Also, the better and more detailed the description, the better the chance that I'll actually get a good result. I'll draw anything from a portray or a simple pose, to.. more unsavory images, assuming that's allowed on this forum. From what I've gathered from...
I've been itching for more practice sketching, so I tried picking out random articles in the 'Approved Additions to SARP' forum. Unfortunately the majority of them lack detailed visual descriptions or aren't very interesting to draw. So, if anyone has any characters, ships, armor, or anything remotely interesting to draw, let me know along with a detailed description, or not-so-detailed if you want me to wing it. But the whole point of this thread is for art practice and highly detailed descriptions make commissions harder, so detail is a big plus. No promises on if I actually get around to drawing stuff or not, but hey, they're free commissions. Don't complain, you cheap wankers! XD Oh, and those of you that are wondering what...
