Haruhi pondered Hoshi's question, it showed that the soldier had grit, "Go ahead and take point, I'll have your back." she said motioning with her weapon. "Move out people, and stay sharp."

Inside his helmet, Hoshi winced. He was the medic, and really should have been taking rearguard but... Oh well. He had point now.

Turning towards the "doorway" and stepping gingerly past the crab corpses, he moved down the passage(s), looking for the room where the pads were. His weapons were trained forward, ready. His drones hovered slightly ahead of him, ordered to shoot on sight.

“Are you two planning to stay and rot with the Mishhu?” Haruhi barked at Im'inao and Tsubei, who both seemed to have not moved since the crab-type had died. “If you still think it's going to move, then shoot it some more, otherwise get your arses up here. Our objective isn't far away now, so let's pull together and get through this final stretch.”

The corridor on the other side of the hatch looked identical to the one they were in, the same disgusting slime present everywhere. Approximately 6 meters ahead another corridor intersected it heading to starboard.

At the moment there was no sign of movement.

"Intersection ahead. It looks like it may give us a straight shot to seize the objective." Hoshi relayed to Haruhi.

He then took cautious steps forward, weapon up and ready. If he arrived at the intersection before the rest of the team, he would stop and wait.

Kyoka quickly snapped out of her stupor - she had been zoning out while staring at the crab carcass, wondering how the heck something so bizarre managed to make a civilization. And she had just gotten around to imagining a crab trying to pick up various things in a four-panel comedy style when Haruhi snapped her back into reality.

"Sorry, Haruhi-Juni!" She yipped, driving her PA closer to the team. "I kinda lost it there. What is it you want me to do, once we reach the room?"

She made careful steps after rejoining with her superior, keeping an eye out ahead down the hall.

Asi moved along, staying quiet. He still wasn't quite sure how what he'd done was wrong, but he would go along with it for now. No point in arguing with her in the middle of the mission. He could talk it out with her after the mission was done. In the meantime, he fell into step with the group, taking up a rearguard position, watching behind them slightly, though with the lack of visible entrances behind them, he figured it was mostly superfluous check.

“Best case is that we strap on the tele-packs and jump out nice and easy, worst is we drag them around as we run and gun our way outta here,” Haruhi motioned Yukimura to check around the intersection and move up if it was clear. “Personally, I'm betting on the later, the way things feel like they're going here.”

The oppressing fact that it was a mere four of them standing around inside the bowels of an enemy ship that was far from as disabled and de-crewed as she would have liked weighed quite uneasily on Haruhui's mind, it was no place anyone sane should set foot without more man- and fire-power, yet that was exactly were they stood. The ever-present slime didn't help either, even with the powerarmour keeping it away from touching her directly she felt like taking aether to it till ther was nothing but bare metal left.

Peering down the corridor showed that the the door to the chamber where the telepads were located, was on the right side of the passage. It was only 20 meters down the hall.

But, there standing in front of the door was A Mishhuvurthyar Shocktrooper serving as Sentry.

About then the NMX ship shook violently with an explosion from the far aft section. The corridor lighting flickered and failed and the internal gravity failed. "Nami-Hei to away team, we just threw a mini-missile barrage into the Mishhu repair efforts. Hope that helps you folks in there." Sachi sent.

Hoshi said:
Shocktrooper! Should I engage?
Hoshi sent the instantaneous telepathic message to Haruhi -- and only the first half to the rest of the Away Team.

Even in Zero G, Hoshi readied himself to lean around the corner and fire. The Beam-Saber would help, and his Drones floating freely behind him were poised to dart out and attack the thing.

A Shocktrooper would be a tough fight -- would they walk away with no casualties?

A shocktrooper? Kyoka thought, a little worried. It was right then that the gravity let up, the jolts nudging her from the floor upwards towards the ceiling. However, this was easily compensated for by the Combined Field System and she set herself back upon the ground. This isn't gonna end well. . .

"Haruhi-Juni, what's the order?" She asked telepathically, not wanting to alert the sentry.

“Nice to tell us that after it happened,” Haruhi remarked at what a moment ago had been a floor but was now a wall just like every other surface. Disregarding the instinct to root herself back to the surface she had floated up from, the Juni took up position on the 'roof' and took up a position against the 'wall'.

“Tsubei; activate barrier module, get on the wall opposite and open up on it, grab it's attention. Once it's taken to her, Yukimura and Im'inao open fire from cover of the corner here and hammer it. I'll be taking position near Tsubei and swapping with her when it gets too hot. If things are going bad we retreat and take up new firing positions for another round; Tsubei, if your shields are starting to crack dive back down the passage this way and swap with one of the others.”

“Remember, its weapons aren't any more powerful than ours, and there's four of us against only one of him, so keep your heads screwed on and we'll have this one in the bag.” Haruhi checked quickly to make sure they were listening.

“Alright, go!”

"Sorry about that Haruhi-Juni, but we sensed an increase in power generation and two of their turrets started tracking us. Nailing the generator was the most expedient, and we didn't have time to send a message before firing." Sachi sent. "What is your status? Aeon is out attacking a second group of destroyers."

----------------------------------------------

The Shocktrooper started advancing towards the away teams position cautiously. Once it was out of the way of the door to where the tele-pads were located, a second figure emerged. This one was wearing a rather distinctive set of armor. The stolen Mindy-1H armor from the Eucharis. "The commander says crush the intruders, they must not reach this chamber. Activate internal defenses." the female occupant of the Mindy said to the trooper. The trooper nodded and placed a hand on the wall, a series of nodules appeared along the upper part of the walls, and some sort of energy weapon emerged. There were six of these gun points in the hallway scanning back and forth for a target.

"Acknowledged!" Kyoka replied to her leader, activating the module. A full five seconds went by, letting her know that the defense system was fully active, before she swiftly strafed across the hall to the other wall, facing towards the shocktrooper. What surprised her wasn't the fact that there were turrets here but more of the fact that there was Mindy there. A split second of thinking told her to fire now and ask questions never. Chances could not be taken at this stage in the game. And so, she responded by firing five missiles from her shoulders at each of the enemy units in her vision (Except for the Mindy - not enough ammo) and activating her Drones, summoning two to fire at whatever was left of the turrets while she shot a beam of energy at the Mishuu.

"Enemy now has turrets, Haruhi-Juni" She called out over her communicator as she did this. "They've got a Mindy, too!"

Asi cursed a little under his breath. A shock trooper alone was bad enough, but add a Mindy armor, as well as turrets of unknown strength and numbers to the fight made it much, much harder. Still, until he heard otherwise, the plan remained the same, so he crouched next to his corner, and waited for the opponents to open fire. "Haruhi-Juni, perhaps rotate all four of us out, in sets of two? With the additional fire-power, it might overwhelm just your two's shields, but if we rotate visibility in pairs instead, it will force them to split their fire, and possibly let us escape unharmed."

The anti-personnel turrets were quickly destroyed, but others seemed to be forming in the hallway the away team was in.

The Shocktrooper took aim at Kyoka and unleashed its built in Energy Cannon, and fired a Ke-M4-W2901 Light Armor Service Rifle at her as well.

Meanwhile the Mindy-1H clad soldier, floated in the hallway it moved its Ke-M2-W2911 Rapid Fire Heavy Beam Cannons into firing position prepared to pulverize anything that came into the hallway.

Damnit, don't stop to question the plan! DO IT.
Hoshi's patience had been tried and frayed by the current conditions, and Asine's new question allowed him an outlet. There was no time, anymore, to be questioning orders or thinking out new plans of attack when the enemy was on top of them.

The medic thought and feared for their lives. Would he be dragging someone out? Who? Would he live? Would anyone?

With a silent cry of frustration, anger, and fear, Hoshi moved around the corner to unload on the Mindy with everything he had. Mini-Missiles arced down the hallway, his Beam-Saber Rifle flared, and the man hoped that they hit. His drones flew and engaged the newly-forming turrets in their hallway, focusing their attacks on a single target even as they dodged and weave, trying to evade any incoming fire.

Once he was done with his first attack -- if he got done with his first attack -- he would move to have the corner between him and the NMX PA's.

Kyoka's shields held against the initial barrage, but the Shocktrooper continued to hammer at her with the shots from the cannon and maintaining autofire with the M4-W2901 and it would not take long for her shield to collapse.

Hoshi's fire upon the Mindy-1H's armor was ineffective. The 1H's defensive turrets dealing with his missiles and his saber attack slammed into the chest without apparent effect.

The Neko in the 1H locked onto Hoshi and aimed both of its W2911 Cannons at him. Hoshi could just barely make out the evil grin on the neko. The Neko targetted his saber rifle and the other at the part of him that was exposed. Laughing she fired. Two deadly streams of energy bolts came at him. The first shattered the rifle with an explosion. The second was aim at his armor while it did not penetrate the CFS, the force of it knocked him into the wall behind him.

Kyoka didn't think at this point. By now, she had lost normal rationality and was reverting to "Boom and Run"* tactics to save her own hide. She fired two volleys of five each at the two main enemy units, then summoned all her drones (Four set to normal fire, two set to heavy) to assault and distract the Mindy. She fired a beam of energy from her rifle, running and aiming the three-second laser at the Shocktrooper as the Neko began to run back down the hallway to where her companions were. She stopped and grabbed Hoshi by the waist with her left arm and dragged him down, praying that the Mindy didn't kill her drones so quickly.

"Haruhi-Juni! WhaddoIdooooo?" She blubbered, while this entire scenario ensued. It seemed that she was semi-unaware of her own actions.

*Hit and run with More Dakka.
