Words came to Takamori's mind. Excerpts from one of the many pieces of literature he had studied and memorized. 'Through shadows of death and empty homes, through war and chaos, I walked the path of the blind. I can see it all but still, I walked the path of the blind! Oh ye Lords and Kings, what despair ye bring to thine people, all of ye doomed to follow me on this path of the blind!"

The work itself wasn't anti-war but it was of the more darker setting than usual. Its main focus was on whether a vague, subjective concept such as glory could be present when the end result was always death and destruction. Takamori had used that play to support an essay that glory came from the creation of wondrous objects, grand buildings or great technical breakthroughs.

But none of that philosophizing had a place here now, amidst the dead. Not while there were living souls who needed aid. "Still no targets, Juni. The fighting passed by here a while ago. No big fires around," he said over the radio.

Just one thing occured to Kyoka as she looked upon the carnage and destruction with a queasy stomach. Just a few little words of comfort. No more, no less.

"Ketsurui protect me. . ." The Neko half-whimpered, gulping as she surveyed the surroundings. The Intellicus were bad, but they didn't rend people in two! What this was, was. . . was. . . simply savage!

Kyoka held her weapon tighter.

A pile of debris shifted ahead of the away team and three Crab Type Neo Mishhuvurthyar burst from it and charged towards the vehicle.

"Fish...." Kim swore in the Yusou as she targeted the forward gun on the lead Mishhu. "Incoming hostiles Juni. I've got the lead one." She said as she actived the weapon.

The sudden activity alerted Takamori. Now there were targets. Crab-type Mishhu were armoured, ugly creatures. Hard to kill and very deadly. It didn't look like they were armed though. Best to take the small blessings.

"Engaging left hostile," he said, taking aim with his rifle. Takamori knew the front was armoured but they were too far away for a good shot at the underbelly. He fired a three second beam at the left most Mishhu's head.

"I got the one on the right. Eat this you Mishnu bastards!" He said and aimed his gauss rifle and fired a single aimed shot and fired several shots from his Aether-saber rifle. He hoped that the shots would do some damage and slow the Mishnu bastards down if not kill them.

Saki climbed out of APC right after she put her flamer on sling when juni gave the orders. What she saw had clear impact as she stood completely still for few seconds. Training session won't teach you this. All those dead, killed mercylessely. Saki bet some of them even did not have chance to defend themselves, some might be even civilians. She shaked her head and raised her beam rifle. Beam rifle was clearly powerful weapon but she dislike that fact, that it could not be hold with two hands. Pistol like weapon with large blade at the end. She would be more glad if it were more rifle like. But at least it was powerful enough.

When crabs showed up Saki hanged back a little making sure that those three are not the only one. Also she did not receive fire-at-will order. They were also large and terryfing and Saki had to catch her breath. Saki set her rifle to pulse fire and had it ready until she receives fire-at-wil, Juni won'T start firing himself, crabs won't get a lot closer or some new surprise won't show up. In other words Saki kept guard for other dangers that could show up. NMX were supposed to be devious, at least according to what Shasos'Shol-hei taught her.

"Engaging center," Kyoka responded in a cool manner - or at least, as cool as she could muster, giving the extensive circumstances. Second time versus Mishu. This time, she wouldn't just get yelled at by her superiors. The Neko aimed at the middle crab and pulled the trigger.

The Crabs perhaps anticipating the attack lowered their heads in a protective stance and allowed the first volley to be taken along their armored carapace.

They then raised back up on their feet and each one pulled out a weapon from under them. They each fired a NMX "Impaler" Particle Beam Rifle a blue stabbing at the away team.

"Focus on my target!" Arkase ordered, strafing off to the right to avoid fire.

He then began firing with the 'Beam' setting of his Aether Beam-Saber Rifle at the right-most Mishhu.

"Er- Dodge and concentrate fire on Arkase's target!" Kyoka quickly instructed, attempting to evade the fire. "Switch targets to the next crab the moment this one's defenses are compromised!"

Once she recovered, the Neko immediately commenced launching as many rounds of Aether as her rifle could put out.

Yoshiro complied with the orders and focused on Arkase's target and fired a barrage of aether beam shots at the Crab-type that the others were firing at. "What does it take to kill these things?" Yoshiro said angrily as he aimed and waited for the results of the first burst he fired.

Saki did not speak. There was no need too ask things. She just said one word needed from her. "Roger!" She then aimed her gun at Arkase's target and kneeled ready to roll to the side should the fire get concentrated on her. She did not want to bring much attention as she aimed at lower parts of bugs body, trying to get under his carapace or maybe shoot him in the face. After few second of fire she pulled the trigger sending volley of deadly aether bolts at her target.

The combined assault on the right Crab Mishhu resulted in a satisfactory explosion and reduction of it to a lifeless quivering mass of Mishhu chunks.

The surviving two in turn decided to concentrate their weapons on Takamori. Whose shields flared under the assault. Out of the corner of his eye he caught some movement to his left.

Since they were firing at most right Crab Saki did only thing she though was righe. She shifted her fire to nearest crab to the left from the one that just got destroyed. She aimed carefully on lower parts of its body and started firing again. Empress be with us, she thought.

So far she was keeping her feelings on hold and stay calm, but she was sure that so far it was easy. No one on her team died yet and she prayed that none shall. But little worm of pessimissm in her little blue had digged into her mind telling her that it won't probably stay that way.

"Track Saki's target!" Arkase said, seeing his junior take the initiative and pick the next Mishhu.

Combined fire would solve all of their problems. It would overwhelm the Crab-Types' defences, and minimize the damage that could be done to the Team and the APC.

Aiming his gauss rifle at the target that Saki was firing at he let loose a three round burst and the followed up with some Aether beam shots. "You all right over there?" He said to Saki over laser comms, with no small amount of concern in his voice. He kept his weapons pointed at the Crab and waited to see the results of their attacks on it before firing again.

Seeing as one concentrate fire order was good enough, Kyoka refrained from speaking and simply set to her task, unloading as much Aether into the oncoming crabs as possible.

The Away team easily took down the last two Crabs. Just as they finished off the last one, the port side of the APC was hit twice making its shields flare.

"Targets down, Juni. Nothing else in sight," Takamori said as he lowered his rifle and powered down his thrusters. Due to the amount of incoming fire, he had started using them to dodge incoming fire, acting as distraction while the rest of the team took more careful aim.

He issued a mental command to check the status of his shields and see if anything was damaged. He knew he had taken some hits but did not know to what extent.

Kim in the APC listened to Takamori, Nothing in sight, what is he talking about?

"Hostile at 9 O'clock, we have a lone Ripper engaging the APC. Returning fire." Kim said across the radio as she swung both cannons into the direction of the Mecha and opened fire.
