Mat took cover behind what looked to be a piece of portable cover. Maybe charging in had been a bad idea. Oh well, hindsight was 20/20.

He reopened fire upon the enemy, pouring a stream of energy onto the nearest one. The Aether pulses lit up the air as he walked the fire across his target.

Albatross, Engineering

"Understood, Heisho."

Carter released his body shield and flew up, out of line of sight of the enemy team. He turned towards the remaining technicians and opened fire with his wrist projectors, using nonlethal scalar pulses. These were noncombatants, after all. No need for overkill, and if they could manage it, more potential prisoners couldn't hurt.

"Eep-" Caught by suprise slightly, she took off after Mitsuko like she had stolen her favorite bird away from her- and obviosuly, away from hopefully dazed L'kor behind her. She remained invisible as she switched her reactor back on, skimming along the roof and hoping she wasn't getting in the way of anyone's bullets- sepecially given that she was seriously lacking in those all too useful sheilds at the moment. "Don't leave me too far behind now please!" She promptly tucked her tail between her legs as she flew, lest it be shot by stray gunfire. She didn't bother to shoot either though- not quite yet, not untill she had a stable position, and expected to beable to hold down the trigger on a target for longer than half a second.

L'Kor Albatross

The L'Kor that had assembled were all hurt in some substantial to incredible ways and were dragged off by their comrades, only to be replaced by new ones in a similar fashion to the way they themselves had set up in the hallway, with two taking a knee and two behind them, all shooting.

The L'Kor that begun shooting first and stayed standing was the first to fall. After he had been struck repeatedly, he tumbled down, hitting both of the comrades that were below him. Their wings were crushed by him and one of their guns fell from their hand while the other tried to keep up shooting at this portion of the Kaiyō away team, though he was severely impaired as he tried to move for his fallen brethren that was falling atop him. The lone L'Kor that was still able to masterfully shoot struck the away team members in the hallway, each at least twice, before he himself was taken out by the blasts from the Kaiyō members. He fell backwards and was quickly hustled away and replaced by a new power armored L'Kor, though the other compromised two stayed where they were, pinned by the third, finagling themselves poorly under his weight.

In engineering, both of the technicians crumpled to the walkway's floor. Meanwhile, the door they had been heading towards opened. There were only two visible L'Kor in power armor that came through. They wielded their aether sabers like they were ready and waiting for this fight.

Outside the Bridge:

William swallowed hard at the Neko's order. "H...Hai..." He said before tossing a glance back to his mother, and beginning his walk towards the PA bay. Problem was he had never been to the PA bay before...He began walking down the confusing halls of the ship. He wanted to tell her that he actually had no idea where he was going, but feared that she would kill him for opening his mouth. So he continued to lead the way.

In his defense, he was close. He was only one deck off. He lead Amanozako through the ship and down to the cargo hold, literally one deck below the PA bay. He turned back to her and frowned, afraid to admit it. "Um... I am sorry Miss, but I don't know where the bay is... I just got here." He replied sheepishly, and prepared to run like hell if she tried to attack him... Not that it would do him any good anyway.

L'Kor Engineering Inc.

Anastasia took a breather as the two technicians dropped. She moved from her cover to the technician she took out, carefully performing a quick check on the engineer to confirm they're still alive. She called out to Eden through her suit's comms. "We may have enemy engineer, Taii. They're incapacitated but still breathing. What do you recommend..."

Anastasia's voice trailed off as the opposing door opened, the two L'Kor guards stepped out. She was near the open, with some distance between them. She hoisted the incapacitated engineer over her shoulder, moving away from them with a sense of urgency. She'd have to resort to SMG fire for both of these, her hands were full. "We have company, Dynamis."

When the door opened, Meissa took a small amount of time to identify her target, before promptly handing some Aether to the guard's face using her Aether Beam, her drones still helping cover the exterior by flying near Mat.

"Yes, it does appear we do have company!" Meissa shouted, repositioning herself to a safer place inside the Engineering bay. Being in the hallway sandwiched between L'Kor and L'Kor was pretty stupid. And as much as she'd like to duke it out with them using her own Aether Beam's sword mode, she had to keep in mind that the L'Kor power armors also were there, able to see and shoot her.

Wait, was that an idea...? Meissa glanced around the Engineering room. She wasn't sure exactly what there was around there, but there had to be something she could screw with, right? Whether or not there was atmosphere, she could make something to obscure vision. Even just a fire extinguisher would work.

L'Kor Engineering

Yoshida yelped as she felt the rounds impact her from behind- the aether burning through her armor and scorching her flesh, instantly cauterizing the wounds that would have other wise bled quite heavily. The first completely removed a chunk of her left forarm, making continued use of that limb in particular a fantasy at best. The second punched into her NSB pack, slagging the insides. It might have been a lethal shot if the pack hadn't been in the way, so perhaps that was for the best. The third shot was a shoulder hit- taking out the capacitor she was using for teleports, and a fair amount of the outer armor there.

Yoshida didn't let this stop her though- not for a moment. Still invisible, still cringing at the pain on her left arm as she tossed the aether gattlign rifle into the air to readjust her grip to hold it with only her right arm, she spotted the two guards encroaching upon the engineering room. She went as fast as she dared to in the limited space, dodging around comrades and important looking machinery as she readied the gattling rifle like it was a club and then dashed to the guard that had yet to take some hot white stuff to the face yet.

She skidded along th eground those last few feet, and swung her rifle at its face with one hand, both her speed and the strength of her armor adding to the force of the swing. After the hit she stopped herself on one foot and, while the l'kor was still reeling, did a fancy spin kick to slam it into the wall, after of course, the kick impacted what she aproxamated to be the chin, the same place she hit with the rifle. She really, really hoped one of those hits just broke its neck, she wasn't sure she wanted to deal with beating it to death before remembering she could use her own aether blade on it. Breathing heavy, she would then quickly take cover as she decloaked, and revealed her battered form.

YSS Kaiyo

Amanozako paused in her trek across the Kaiyo, turning to face the young man.

"You are new, aren't you?" she grumbled, her blood red eyes drilling into him. He had lead her to the cargo hold, which was not the power armor bay. It was sad that an enemy soldier, such as herself, had better knowledge of the ships interior from when she had boarded them during the war. . .

"Follow me" she said, with a waggle of her finger and lead William up one level and to the proper compartment.

Mat took two hits, both on his right thigh, partially melting the armor there and heating the inside enough to burn his skin. Now that the threats in the hall were eliminated as far as he knew, Mat advanced into the engineering bay just in time to see the two new L'kor enter the room. He snapped his Aether wrist blades on after stowing his SMG on his back, and sprinted forward before sliding into a crouch and slashing the blades across the chest of one of the enemy armors before leaping backward, out of direct melee range.

L'Kor Albatross

Inside of engineering, the L'Kor advanced upon Mat and flew forward and swung its saber at him, narrowly missing before striking at him again.

Meissa would be able to see only the core reactor, which had several blue tubes bisecting it that were filled with coolants, several orange tubes filled with reactor fluid, and several red tubes that had in them propellant fluid. Though there were each filled with something different, identifying what they were and how to use them was a hurtle Meissa had to overcome.

Yoshida had created a veritable punching bag out of the L'Kor she was beating on and they hung slumped against where she had left them. Another came forward and shot at her, missing, before grabbing her shoulder and bringing its head to hit her helmet. They took a few steps back away from her, hurting, too. But what they hoped was that it would have hurt Yoshida more.

The second L'Kor with an aether saber targeted Anastasia and flew up into the air above her and then closed its wings, falling back down and towards her. It jabbed its aether saber at her, hoping to impale the Star Army technician.

All of the away team could hear the Taii over comms, "Take Engineering, that is our priority. Use the technicians if you can, but take engineering and you will win us this battle!"

To Saki, Eden said, "Send them rights of first contact! I'm sure SAINT or Iemochi procured a version of it in their language! They need to see it!"

Bridge

Misaki began literally rattling off the Rights of Early Contact, word by word as she pointed at the L'Kor Captain while looking at a bridge crew member to send a typed copy in their language to them. She then looked back to the L'Kor captain with her piercing violet eyes and continued to recite the Rights to their combatant.

Inside, Misaki was trying to ignore every possible distraction to continue to recite everything. She brushed a few hairs out of her face before placing her hands at the front of her skirt to brush it down as well before puffing out her chest and standing authoritatively. They were Yamatai, and they would assert dominance even in diplomacy.

Well. She knew what tubes carried what. That was a start. So, screw this, throw caution to the wind before it changes direction and sends caution right back on her face. She wasn't sure how caution tasted, and she wasn't in a mood to taste it. She didn't want to taste it.

"I'm trying, Taii! Gonna try something probably a little stupid soon!" Meissa shouted back. "Need everyone in Engineering before I can do it!"

She did, however, for now keep that in the back of her mind as she shot Aether Beam blasts at the enemy power armors, ducking behind cover when she could. She aimed not for individuals, but to cut through groups. Even though her allies had a lot of power when it came to taking enemies on a few at a time, the way to win would be to hit as many L'Kor as she could in one shot.

Anastasia noticed the heavily damaged Yoshida not too far from her, calculating the suit damage in the back of her mind while the rapid fire thoughts raced past the front. She still had the unconscious L'Kor technician draped over her left shoulder. "Are you alright??"

Anastasia refocused her attention to the blade whipping enemies approaching from the front. took a step back from the approaching guard, firing with her SMG in bursts of three. The leap caught her off guard, but she began to move, shifting her intelligent payload to the side to lighten the load.

Despite her evasive maneuvers, what followed the comm was a loud, painful, sound of power armor being breached followed by a cringe-inducing screech of pain as the L'Kor's aether blade cut into Anastasia's armor. The hot blade slid through the inner edge of her folded right wing, breaching what was left of her diminished shields, and cut an additional gash across her right side, wounding and cauterizing her flesh near the hip. The Yamatai technician was pushed to the ground, avoiding the rest of the blade's edge.

She flopped on the ground in a mix of pain and adrenaline, flopping onto her back. Breathing fast and distracted, the shoulder mounted SMG continued firing with motorized assistance. Anastasia was murmuring, rather quietly screeching an expressions of pain in Seraphim to herself inside her helmet. Once the enemy L'Kor had soaked more than enough bullets, she let her left arm, once wrapped around the technician hostage, slide around her torso in an instinctive reaction to pain. After a few moments of shock and pain, the words started to form Yamataian expressions, albeit abrupt, trying not to yell into the comms. "Paa-aain, aether burns. Hallp."

L'Kor Albatross, Engineering

Mitsuko dropped her camouflage as soon as the enemy realized where they were and began returning fire. Her shields steadily fell as she backpedaled along the ceiling, retreating into Engineering behind the others. Once inside, she took cover at the top of the doorway, attached to the wall above it as she continued to fire on the enemy. Her sensors, and data from the other team members, kept her mostly aware of what was going on behind her while she concentrated on continuing the suppressing fire. Even with cover, her shields wouldn't hold forever.

"Nashira-Hei, if you can delay the enemy outside and allow our Engineers some time to think-" She was cut off as screams filled the communications line, her attention snapping behind her. Not necessarily out of pure concern for her fellow soldier, as her display made her well aware that the damaged suit belong to Anastasia. Who, as an integral part of the immediate assignment, had far too much work to do to waste valuable time being injured. Or killed. With her Mindy's most powerful weapon needing several seconds more time to charge than she had available, she had to think fast. And, unfortunately, acted faster.

The battered power armor's CFS activated, warping space around it for a split second as it instantly accelerated to a fraction of the speed of light, making it appear that Mitsuko and the armored L'Kor had simply disappeared. Along with a chunk of railed walkway. Not to mention the several feet of the far wall they'd buried into before the microburst of speed wore off. The team could see the protesting readouts from her suit immediately, followed by a pained groan as the two armors tumbled out of the shallow hole their sudden and short trip had created.

L'Kor Engineering

Yoshida mumbled over the comms as anastasia expressed her concern. "I'm... fine ana... Takes more than that to take down a neko..." Yoshida let out a slight pained giggle even as her left arm hung uselessly at her side. It was then that yoshida was grabbed and headbutted, much to her suprise and irritation. Unlike the L'kor she didn't stumble back, mostly becuase she was already against the wall. She also recovered much faster however, being a neko and all.

"That all you have for me?" She gritted her teeth as the L'kor reeled from the impact, raising her aether gattling gun up once again and squeezing the trigger. The last thing that l'kor would proably see was a spinning, pink circle and a flash of light as the aether flew from the barrels like water. Yoshida wasn't happy at the moment, infact one could say she was livid. But she had the sense to not fire off uneccesary rounds in the reactor room. "Yeah... that's... what I thought." She grimaced again as the pain pulsated across her arm from that nasty aether burn, breathing like a rapid animal, her teeth clenched tight.

Then she heard the whimpering over the comms, and noticed anastasia's and mitsuko's armors on the display were bothy badly damaged. She nearly broke her own neck with how fast she turned to look over, and shortly after quickly trotted over, readying her minigun just incast new challengers arrived "Heisho? Ana! We need you up! I-i need... Carter! Take over for Ana!" She was borerline panicked judging by her tone of voice as she moved to stand over Anastasia, wieding her aether gattling rifle with only a single arm, ready to chew through anyone that dared to aproach this time, as she tried to manuver anastasia over to several feet deep hole using her feet, as gently as she could but still making haste, hoping to guard her injured comrades, while constantly switching her gaze between both doors.

In Meissa's ears, all she interpreted was 'everything's on you now,' as she heard Mitsuko's request.

She wasn't wrong -- they were losing ground in the outbound to Engineering. They had an exit, but no data down that hall. There weren't many of her friends left that were mostly healthy. Techie down, Mitsuko was looking pretty bad, and Yoshida would have...questionable...effectiveness. Carter was still up, Mat was still up with light damage to armor, Orion...she lost track of him. But he seemed fine, she thought, as she covered the retreat with her drones.

3.89 versus...a bunch of armors. It was now or never. And, unlike the common reaction to this degree of stress, which was a whole load of panic, she, as always, felt at home in the chaotic storm.

"Right. Let's get this party started. I'm gonna cut that one propellant line that seems like it has the most pressure facing them, I need someone to analyze the stuff coming out of it. Anastasia, you do that. Whatever it is, let's hope it stops those suckers or at least screws their scanners over. The first guy that walks through, I need you to slam-bam that guy across the room. Carter, if you could find whatever the heck controls the flow in those tubes that would be awesome. The rest of you, let's fry chickens and chew bubble gum. I don't suppose anyone bought bubble gum."

Before anyone said anything else, Meissa took aim at the propellant line, shot it, and watched whatever it is spray in the faces of the L'Kor. Eat that.

Carter didn't react fast enough to the incursion of two more L'Kor Armors into engineering, preoccupied as he was with neutralizing the last of the unarmored technicians. He whirled around towards the door, a little too late. He saw Anastasia get hit, the screech of pain barely registering in his mind. He saw Mitsuko's hasty tackle, and, as he frantically swung his LASR to bear, Anastasia's point-blank retaliation. With little time left, another squad of L'Kor inbound, and the Yamataian squad accruing injuries at an alarming rate, he knew that the next few moments were pivotal.

"We're falling apart." he thought, body paralyzed in panic, desperately racking his overloaded brain for a way to turn the tide. After a moment, however, the panic subsided, quickly being replaced by grim, calculating focus. This always seemed to be the way for him. A consistent pattern that was beginning to emerge under his limited experience with the rigors of combat... He brushed the thought aside, and lifted his LASR to his shoulder.

Step one. Eliminate the present threat: Within a moment of raising his LASR, Carter drew a bead on Mitsuko's combatant, crumpled in a heap next to the logistics Neko herself. A few swift LASR rounds to the head and upper body ensured that it would not get up. Next, Mat's duel was rudely interrupted by a Gauss cannon round slamming into his opponent's chest from across the room, followed by a quick LASR shot to the L'Kor's head, as was usual for Carter.

Step two. Stunt the enemy's advance: Carter moved into position next to the hallway door, barely lowering his LASR as his suit's CFS propulsion slid him into place in one smooth motion. He projected a solid volumetric barrier in front of himself, knowing that he'd need every bit of extra shielding he could get in order to not get immediately blown away by the advancing squad, though he did leave a small hole in the barrier to fire through. As soon as he was in position, with a direct line of sight to the L'Kor PA squadron, he opened fire, unleashing his Gauss cannon on full auto, and supplementing it by dumping as many LASR rounds down the hallway as possible. In the bottleneck of a hallway like this, he knew that the piercing nature of both of his primary weapons had the potential to be particularly devastating, but he primarily wanted to buy his squadmates time to regroup while dealing as much damage to as many L'Kor as he could before his shields reach critical levels.

Eden smiled at her sweet, sweet Saki. She was doing so wonderfully in Eden’s eyes and the captain smiled, then looked at the science officer.

“What did they say, Iemochi?”

Power Armor Bay

When Amanozako and William got into the bay, they would see it empty of all power armors but the princess, the samurai’s, and NMX Neko’s armors.

L’Kor Albatross

The two armored L’Kor that had come into engineering had been dealt with, but the bottlenecked group had not. Until Meissa’s plan went into affect, that is.

Protesting at the sudden influx of both fire from Carter’s LASR and the propellant fluid coming from behind him and towards them, they raised their hands to their faces and fluttered their wings in a flurry of upset and anger.

“Surprise bird brains!” Reina Madoka yelled as she entered the room, gauss cannons blazing.

“You thought you lost us?!” Leeta Aoi roared, aether gattling rifle blazing.

“Fat chance of that!” Madoka replied as she let out bursts from her automatic rifle.

Leeta Aoi said, “Steer clear of that goo!”

“Who?” Madoka asked.

“I said, that goo!” Leeta Aoi repeated.

“Ooooh!” She avoided the gooey propellant like the other two girls had been doing, the medic and the quieter Muyomi Peio. In moments, the L’Kor power armors in the room were all down.

The medic, Maki Miyako, called over comms, "Are there any injured?!"

Mat grumbled at having his source of adrenaline interrupted by Carter, but soon began to began to retreat as the goo started to fly. However, he wasn't fast enough, and a blob of brown propellant adhered to his left arm and began to sizzle.

"AAAAghhhh!" Mat shouted, as he angrily waved his left arm, and beat at it with his right one.
