Re: [restart point] Mission 2
"Thank you for your time, ma'am," Tom replied to Yukari with equal warmth in his voice before turning to business. He lowered his voice so as not to bring attention to the two.
"I'd like to provide you an update on the current operating status of the Miharu. Our Aether beam cannon has been restored to a functioning state. However, efficiency rests at approximately 87% given current conditions. We can fire approximately 5.22 shots per minute, which is still short of Ketsurui Zaibatsu's advertised rate."
He brought out his communicator and streamed information from his tests, examining it as he spoke.
"Now, given the fact that 5.22 aether shots would probably annihilate anything that could possibly threaten us, one would think this isn't much of a problem. However, things aren't localized to one specific area, and that is what concerns me. I fear that ALL of Miharu's systems may eventually be operating at 87% efficiency. This problem isn't particularly detectable for systems that don't require excessive amounts of energy--life support or computer operations for example--because they don't DRAW that much energy to begin with. But if we in a high-stress situation, we may notice the effects across all of Miharu's systems... which is definitely not good."
With a blip, the communicator turned off and Tom slipped it back into his pocket, meeting his eyes with Yukari's.
"I think the problem rests with how the Miharu draws power from her generators as well as HOW the power gets to the appropriate systems. Panel AE-27 was fried due to an tidal-wave effec and that alarms me. This occured during a controlled simulation, and it was only one panel, but if we were pushing things to the limit, the amount of energy flying all over the place could cause either a cascading failure from too MUCH energy or rolling blackouts on certain ship systems. This is only a hypothesis, but I believe it is one we do not want to test out."
He took a moment to pause before continuing. The Yamataian nodded slighly, sending his spikey golden hair waving.
"With your permission, I'd like to take whatever time available to begin an extensive diagnosis of our generators as well as begin a detailed reworking of how Miharu directs her energy. I'd also like to assign one of the sprites to begin checking our main cables. Should any need replacing, we would need to shut down Miharu's main generator for a brief period. Given the efficiency of Ichigo and company, I'd estimate approximately 1-3 minutes. Barring that, with your permission, after I reconfigure Miharu's energy distribution system, I would need to restart all of her generators so that they can calibrate. This would take approximately 5-10 seconds."
A slight pause followed.
"Despite Kotori-Taisa's desire to operate a power armor simulation, I feel that it may be best for me and the sprites to tend to this issue, while we are in a safe position, sooner rather than later. I do not MIND participating in the power armor simulation, but I'm uncertain how long this process could take. Should it be quick, I could join the simulation while it is already going... but I'm not sure if that would go against the Taisa's wishes."
"What should I do?"
