Re: [restart point] Mission 2

Kai looked down on the pointy chinned man and said "yeah, we were just waiting for Yuril before we went and checked out our rooms" As he said Yuril's name he pointed at her, just for clarification. "I'm Santo Hei Kai Nakamura, by the way" the Yamataian said, producing his hand for a handshake.

Re: [restart point] Mission 2

"A pleasure, to be sure." Asher said, his hand taking Kai's in a firm grip and shaking it. Though, his eyes went veering off in Yuril's direction, inspecting her just as he had did with Kotori during the briefing.

Re: [restart point] Mission 2

The neko smiled, nodded, and then bowed to the Shosa as she went off to speak to another crewmember. Her attention finally free of her superior, Yuril wandered over to Kai and Yoroko, whom was talking to another crewmember.

The neko of silver hair smiled and bowed a bit to the new face in the group.

Re: [restart point] Mission 2

It seemed everyone else was busy. Already clumping together into groups and having conversations that held little interest for Miyoko. Meh, screw it. She'd been hoping to at least overhear something of interest while eavesdropping, but it seemed that people were too busy with introductions and minutiae for the time being. She pushed herself from the wall and headed toward the simulation chamber at a sedate pace.

Re: [restart point] Mission 2

"Thank you for your time, ma'am," Tom replied to Yukari with equal warmth in his voice before turning to business. He lowered his voice so as not to bring attention to the two.

"I'd like to provide you an update on the current operating status of the Miharu. Our Aether beam cannon has been restored to a functioning state. However, efficiency rests at approximately 87% given current conditions. We can fire approximately 5.22 shots per minute, which is still short of Ketsurui Zaibatsu's advertised rate."

He brought out his communicator and streamed information from his tests, examining it as he spoke.

"Now, given the fact that 5.22 aether shots would probably annihilate anything that could possibly threaten us, one would think this isn't much of a problem. However, things aren't localized to one specific area, and that is what concerns me. I fear that ALL of Miharu's systems may eventually be operating at 87% efficiency. This problem isn't particularly detectable for systems that don't require excessive amounts of energy--life support or computer operations for example--because they don't DRAW that much energy to begin with. But if we in a high-stress situation, we may notice the effects across all of Miharu's systems... which is definitely not good."

With a blip, the communicator turned off and Tom slipped it back into his pocket, meeting his eyes with Yukari's.

"I think the problem rests with how the Miharu draws power from her generators as well as HOW the power gets to the appropriate systems. Panel AE-27 was fried due to an tidal-wave effec and that alarms me. This occured during a controlled simulation, and it was only one panel, but if we were pushing things to the limit, the amount of energy flying all over the place could cause either a cascading failure from too MUCH energy or rolling blackouts on certain ship systems. This is only a hypothesis, but I believe it is one we do not want to test out."

He took a moment to pause before continuing. The Yamataian nodded slighly, sending his spikey golden hair waving.

"With your permission, I'd like to take whatever time available to begin an extensive diagnosis of our generators as well as begin a detailed reworking of how Miharu directs her energy. I'd also like to assign one of the sprites to begin checking our main cables. Should any need replacing, we would need to shut down Miharu's main generator for a brief period. Given the efficiency of Ichigo and company, I'd estimate approximately 1-3 minutes. Barring that, with your permission, after I reconfigure Miharu's energy distribution system, I would need to restart all of her generators so that they can calibrate. This would take approximately 5-10 seconds."

A slight pause followed.

"Despite Kotori-Taisa's desire to operate a power armor simulation, I feel that it may be best for me and the sprites to tend to this issue, while we are in a safe position, sooner rather than later. I do not MIND participating in the power armor simulation, but I'm uncertain how long this process could take. Should it be quick, I could join the simulation while it is already going... but I'm not sure if that would go against the Taisa's wishes."

"What should I do?"

Re: [restart point] Mission 2

Take me now.

Yukari quashed the thought. She loved it when Tom seemed engaged and spoke in such a way about his work. But it was an entirely instinctual response, and distracted her almost visibly.

"It is preferable you take your time," Yukari said. "Are the generators on the Hoshi involved as well? If we could power the VR rooms aboard the Miharu, I would have no issue allowing you and some of the sprites to do what work must be done."

She smiled, eyes twinkling. "Shall I cook tonight, as well?"

Re: [restart point] Mission 2

Kotori walked up to the conversing Tom and Yukari. "How are things down in engineering?"

Re: [restart point] Mission 2

Serizawa was pulling Sora's uniforms out of the bag and refolding them when he replied, "Maybe the next time we're on leave. I don't really think civilian garments are necessary while serving on a ship like the Miharu."

He stacked Sora's folded uniforms one on top of the other until they were in a neatly-piled tower. He then offered the red-haired neko the stack so that she could decide where to store them.

"I'm curious though," Serizawa began while looking at Sora, "what else would I need?"

Re: [restart point] Mission 2

"True, we mostly wear our uniforms on deployment." Sora took the pile of laundry with a smile and carried them over to a footlocker at the foot of the bed. She tucked the clothing neatly inside of it. "Could be anything really, more clothing or... tools," she suggested to Serizawa. "Maybe next leave we'll get a chance to go camping, since we didn't quite get the chance to last time?"

Re: [restart point] Mission 2

Yukari looked to Tom, then back to Kotori. She did not want to minimize Tom ... but she also did not want him to take the brunt of what he had asked of her. She knew he did not get along with the commander, at least in his own mind. She had to let him speak for himself though; he had pride too. She shifted back from them, letting Tom speak.

Re: [restart point] Mission 2

Serizawa shuddered involuntarily at the idea of camping. All he could think of were all the bugs that he would be sure to encounter and all the itching or worse caused by their bites. The very idea gave him the heebie-jeebies.

Remembering an idea that Sora suggested to him back during their days on the Sakura, Serizawa spoke, "That would be nice but I would like to try camping somewhere cold."

Re: [restart point] Mission 2

Asher eye's focused on Yuril as she came forward, he grinned slyly at her as she approached and bowed. The Hei was able to get a closer at the girl, noticing her attractive features. His red eyes focused on her two-toned eyes, Well, I hope that's not a sign of her personality.

The only thing that chilled him in his 1 second observation, was her skin tone. Her pale skin egged him, the fairly white color seem to downgrade her features to him. Ergh... Needs a tan. He thought, finishing his short look up-and-down of her.

"You must be... 'Yura'?" The Hei asked, trying to get her name right, "The name is Itto-Hei Asher Orkin Westwood, or if you prefer, Knight 2." He extended his hand to her for a shake.

Re: [restart point] Mission 2

"We could try someplace up in the mountains somewhere if it isn't winter time on the planet," Sora commented with a bright smile again as she stood up. She adjusted her skirt back down where it was supposed to go and walked back over to Serizawa.

"Some snow on the ground might be fun. I've never seen it in person but from what I've read of it, it looks romantic. Nice hot tea, lounging near a warm fire under a blanket and watching the ice crystals fall from the sky in a flurry of pure white." She knelt down beside Serizawa and started pulling some clothes from another bag; neatly folding them before placing them into a pile on the floor. "Doing things outside in the snow would be fun too! At least, so long as you'd help me warm up afterwards."

Re: [restart point] Mission 2

Yuril shook the offered hand and smiled.
"Pleased to meet you Itto-Hei Asher," Yuril offered a slight bow, "And it's pronounced Yu-ri-el. Nice try though."

The neko was pretty pleased, she had barely been here and she was already starting to know people.

Re: [restart point] Mission 2

"I'm not sure about Hoshi's generators. They could be running on the same system or not. Either way, they could provide the needed power for Miharu's operations while I worked."

He couldn't answer the question about dinner before Kotori's arrival.

Tom bowed to Kotori as she addressed the two. "Ma'am."

He then went into the same detailed description he had provided Yukari moments earlier, although he added a new bit as it popped into his mind.

"...it also may be a good idea to perform a stress-test on our Aetheric weapon, push the aetheric panels to their recommended limits, to make sure that the problem is energy-based and not from faulty panels."

"Your orders, Taisa?"

Re: [restart point] Mission 2

Kotori pondered over Tom's words for a second and finally nodded. "Participating to the power armor training session is mandatory. I feel it would be a disservice for anyone among the crew not to participate, if only to help hone their skills, allow others to take the measure of their companions and make sure everyone - if stuck with no choice but to board a power armor and defend themselves - that they can defend themselves."

"Freeman-Juni, you will participate to the simulation as planned. I will, however, allow you more time afterwards and extra manpower in order to complete the repairs, adjustments and to effect another stress test before we go and pursue our mission within the nebula."

Re: [restart point] Mission 2

"As I understood it, that's the whole point of vacationing in a cold climate," Serizawa stated. "Any kind of appeal ice and snow might have would be lost without the possibility of warming up a beautiful woman."

He thrust his hands into another of Sora's bags and pulled out a bundle of Sora's undergarments. A crooked half-grin spread over his lips as he held out a pair of black panties in the air in front of him. As he looked appraisingly at the panties, the grin quickly evaporated.

"You know," he started to say ruefully, "one would assume that holding a woman's unmentionables would be a little more exciting but it's really kind of mundane."

Re: [restart point] Mission 2

Sora blushed with a soft chuckle. "I think so for guys, Ichi-kun, it's a matter of imagining someone in them because they can't have the woman there to bear witness to it." She looked up from the pile of Serizawa's clean laundry she was folding. "I might need to buy some more interesting panties, perhaps?" She asked teasingly.

She finished folding a pair of slacks before she set it on the pile of folded laundry. "These are ready for you, Ichi-kun."

Re: [restart point] Mission 2

As Sora finished piling up his clothing, he in turn set Sora's undergarments on the floor next to her. He took the pile of his clothing and stored them away in the closet and inside of the drawers of the dresser. When he finished, he returned to the bags to finish the unpacking.

"I would enjoy seeing you in any panties," he confessed, "though some new and interesting panties certainly wouldn't hurt. Even more, it's even better to be taking those panties off of you, right?"

Re: [restart point] Mission 2

"Hmm.. I can imagine. I like it when you help me out of them too, Ichi-kun" Sora smiled shyly as she picked up her undergarments and deposited them into the footlocker before returning to their bags. "I think we're almost done with our unpacking." She watched Serizawa's face with a soft smile for a few moments as he worked on unpacking the last of their things from their bags.
