Though she smiled like a cat at the Taii's response, Sakamoto was soon examining her nails.

Once upon a time, they simply didn't have nails, or even five digits on a hand for that matter. At least they helped protect their finger tips, and could be painted though; in fact, having nails was nice. Enthusiasm though, she wasn't so sure about. Eden was enthusiastic, that was for certain, but was it such a bad thing? Maybe. One thing the older Nekovalkyrja knew was that Eden's peppiness simply made her feel old in comparison. Once, she had been like that herself after all, but not anymore. The battle however, seemed to be going well enough - nothing short of a blunder would see them sunk after all.

"Ara, I hope there will be some survivors for me to interrogate~~<3" their black cat idly remarked.

There were questions that needed answering after all.

"Navi come on! grab and go I heard the word bomb!" Not one to abandon her comrades, she unleashed all her remaining missiles on the remaining targets around the somewhat impromptu squad leader, and readjusted her grip on the LASR, tossing it into the air and grabbing its barrel, flicking her wrist to keep it out of the firing path of her aether wrist projectors, providing additional suppressive fire with this method instead, lacking the ammo to sustain a hail of rail rounds. As she fired off her entire supply of missiles, she stayed put, waiting for navian to pass before going herself. While certainly brave, it was not likely a wise move, maybe it had something to do with the feeling of invincibility after winning these firefights.

YSS Kaiyō, The Bridge

"Oh, we'll have something for you to interrogate, Sakamoto. That we will." Taii Teien Eden remarked, not taking the time to witness the uncanny valley that was her face.

She snapped off a quick message to the away team while setting her sights on the missiles that had come from The Whistler, bending over Asuka to look at the sensor readout.

Re: Imminent destruction of the pirate spacecraft

Hello away team,

I want you all to remember what it is you have trained for. Remember what it is you fight for. I want you all to remember that you have trained for this. You fight for this.

This is the first obstacle of many in our path to victory over the Kuvexians! I do not want to see any of you get maimed or murdered by pirate scum when the real prize will be the heads of the Kuvexians to be mounted above Taisho Yui's hearth.

That being said, I also want you all to understand how pertinent it is to get out of there!

That means you, Yoshida Kokoro and Navian! Thank you for being so thoughtful as to capture a hostile Docile, but do remember to get out of there!

Best wishes,
Taii Teien Eden (Captain, YSS Kaiyō)

"Do you still think they'll ram us when they see their missiles haven't worked, santo juni Mochi?" Eden asked of the scientist. Less than an instant later, she was asking, "Asuka, it looks like santo hei Shan has saved us from incoming missile fire. Am I reading that correctly?"

"Based on what Mochi says, I want you to either avoid The Whistler as best you can, Ito Arnjborg, or if they're not going to ram us, approach with intent to board. We still have a few infantry that we could set loose on them. Boss!"

"Yes?" asked the MEGAMI.

"Get the rest of the infantry prepped and ready."

As the last of the incoming salvo of missiles detonated, Arble sighs and takes a deep breath. Not two seconds afterwards she wordlessly goes back to what she was originally doing, but after all the talk about ramming made her rethink at least a few priorities. Mainly, she decides to disable if not outright destroy their engines to cripple their movement, still focusing most of the available firepower on one ship at a time and directing currently unused turrets towards another. She also sends a manual reloading order for the rapid fire cannons she was utilizing in the event more missiles come. The last thing she wants to happen is to run dry on something that important.

Soon to be ex-Pirate Caravan, Hangar Bay

Although her CIES was kind enough to notify her (and the team) that their odds of survival would dramatically increase after they were no longer inside the munitions-laden freighter's hull, Navian didn't otherwise find the time to receive so much as the gist of her captain's message while she completed disarming her foe and rushed out into the vacuum of space with the Docile powered armour suit in a headlock.

To make a compromise between reducing the risk of damage from shrapnel and keeping the captive alive, after accelerating away, she turned at the last second of countdown to use the Docile as a shield once again, but wrapped her armoured wings around him, to protect them both from vital injuries.

It was hard to predict what would happen when explosives placed by the most unpredictable member of the crew destroyed the hodgepodge of looted and smuggled missiles the pirates were packing, in their rapidly fading hopes of taking on the YSS Kaiyo...

Soon to be shrapnel ridden space

As her comrade departed, Yoshida followed close behind, as fast as suit would allow while weighed down with the docile she opted to carry. Unlike Navian's captive, this one was still, very clearly dead and lacking a skull, only truly useful as a sheild. As the countdown reached zero, much like navian she prepared for the onciming explosion, and positioned her tiny frame behind the docile's. Fer feet on her past victim's back, it would now act as a sheild, and potentially save her life against shards of who knows what would fly at high velocity in all directions much like a grenade, but o a much larger scale. Not to mention it was handy for a blast or two should the Pd turrets be turned on them. "Wwwaaaa this is so terrifying I love it!"

YSS Kaiyō, The Bridge

"There it is," Teien Eden commented as she watched the destruction of the first Caravan on the main screen of the bridge. "Boss, show me what the away team is seeing right now, please."

Explosion after explosion, near but not quite touching on the away team, could be seen. More than an eighth of the ship had been made easy work of and now, the ship was cracking and splitting apart, fully fragmenting and on its dying breath. Debris flung out and those in the away team moved in their own way to avoid what was shooting out towards them as they made a retreat away from the death rattles of the Caravan.

After a gasp, Eden was back to giving out orders. "Group up and go after the second ship! I want you to take the bridge! I'm sending more infantry to be under your lead, Mitsuko! Navian, I want you to drop off the hostage as soon as possible. Sakamoto will sequester them with your assistance, unless you would rather be a part of The Whistler boarding party, Navian." She turned to the weapons operator on the bridge, "Santo hei Shan, it looks like you took out a good deal of their shields and engines. You're doing the Empress' work!"

"What do you want us to do with these torpedoes?" the squadron leader Catherine Ross asked, her face filling up the main screen, replacing that of the carnage of the first Caravan.

"Save them!" Teien Eden answered. "We'll take care of The Whistler ourselves."

"Our weapons systems will back up yours as our targets have been offed," Catherine Ross said. "Defeat looms for the pirates on this day."

As she said this, santo hei Reina, Lilta, Muyomi, and Leeta all formed up and jettisoned out of the Kaiyō, waiting for more direct orders from Mitsuko while they thrusted towards The Whistler.

The bridge was also treated to the not so comforting view of a close up on the back of a docile, right before a particularly sharp looking fragment poked through its chest by a little between yoshida's feet, eliciting a surprised squeak as she reflexively kicked away and accelerated back from the wreck at full speed, just before her rendevous with the rest of the away team. She had also hoped no one heard that embarrassingly mouse like sound coming from her, especially not the bridge crew that had just started checking out her perspective just before then.

Mochi didn't answer the Taii immediately, opting to gather his thoughts and immerse himself in the world of vectors and trajectories. 'It will be immediately obvious to the others now that one ship is down, that they don't stand much chance fighting individually. Also, if they're clever enough there are more than one ways to use missiles..' he analyzed, eyes darting to and from the various readouts. Pulling up a freeze-frame of the missiles in question, he estimated their individual destructive capabilities for about twenty seconds.

"I've got some alternate tactics they may opt to take. Given the shrapnel from the old ship, their ramming attempts will likely be obstructed if they choose that tactic at this moment. However, now I've got an idea of what they're working with they may try something else.. If they arm and eject their missiles without engaging the missile's fuel, they could easily make a minefield."

He tapped his chin a few times, then raised his eyes to the heavens to reduce distractions. 'Infantry.. Boarding parties..' his mind danced through the various scenarios that may arise. "Though I doubt they have the brains for such tactics, the fact shrapnel and possibly missiles will be flying around increases the time it will take to assist and retrieve boarders and infantry.. I advise caution."

A few more seconds, mulling over the possible effects and then backtracking slightly. "Either way, while this debris field is between us and the enemies they have the advantage. Our weapons have a smaller firing cone than their point defences and weapons given they're spread across a larger vessel, so their shots have a greater chance of missing debris and hitting us than we do currently."

After a second, the Juni snapped out of his daze of numbers, glancing sheepishly at Eden, realising the info-dump he had just dropped on her. Without a doubt she'd already considered at least some of what he'd said.

Meissa looks down at the object she was holding in her hand, the REAL detonator for the explosives she planted. She had made sure everyone flew clear when the bombs blew. She looks at the partner she escaped with.
"Whoever told you I put those things on a timer needs a lesson or two on making things go kaboom."

"Mmmmm," the small elysian hums tiredly, wiping a small amount of sweat from her brow caused by nerves. Crippling the engines of the targets is quickly something she realizes makes everything else easier, an enemy who cannot change their vector is a cakewalk to hit.

Misaki watched with intent as the Taii worked, she turned while still standing to look at her, "Is there anything I can do besides stand here and be pretty?" She had calmed down a little bit and seemed to by trying to break a little bit of ice. She had a small smile as she put one hand behind her back to hold the elbow of the other.

She looked back to the screen with her head and continued to monitor the situation.

Very Fast Neko Exiting At Incredible High Speed

Mitsuko continued to emit a low whimper as she fled the pirate vessel, breaking into a yelp as she finally felt the blast wave nip at her heels, sending her wobbling even with assistance from her shielding. She glanced at Meissa, but between the light show behind them and the Captain's incoming message, her words were lost on the Neko. Instantly absorbing the information (which she sometimes forgot non-digital beings needed actual time to read), she immediately filed the message under 'Taii Teien Eden > Communications > Speeches > Encouraging > Propagandizing.' She had a feeling this would be a category she needed to reference frequently.

While she had been hurrying back to the Kaiyo, it was apparently not quite time to go home. Instead she just found a crowd of Neko in Mindy 4s rushing out to join her. "Oh my..." Even with Navian returning to the ship, she still had the other three remaining outside. Eight was quite a few bodies to direct. She seemed to freeze up for a moment, while her mind processed the situation, combined with the orders the Taii had given her. "...acknowledged...preparing to take the enemy Bridge..." The Mindy II began moving again, turning to look at the battle laid out before her before reluctantly flying right into it.

Helmet twisting towards Meissa's again as she passed the Elysian, she sent that message directly before routing it to the others through standard communications. The schematics of the Caravan Heavy Freighter, with the crew section on top highlighted and the Bridge itself pointed out. Then a formation drawn...herself in front, with the Infantry Neko behind her, and Carter, Yoshida and their Medic, Airi, bringing up the rear. All in a straight line, to minimize their chances of being hit, or even properly seen. Like some sort of slipstream attack. Murakami moved out in front, activating every shield and barrier she had just in case, leading her assigned team in as close as she could...before suddenly pulling up and away.

"First we crack the shell...!" Aoi was revealed behind her, propping up what seemed to be a massive bazooka over one shoulder...launching a huge, armor piercing sabot round right at the main 'window' of the Bridge. Peio was right behind her with another round, delivered silently, before peeling off.

"...then we crack the nuts inside!" Madoka giggled at her own joke as she lined up with her own Ke-M6-W3000, firing a frangible anti-personnel round meant to enter through the opening the first two had made, detonating inside the Bridge while some atmosphere still remained. Next up were Hazel and Airi, to either board what was left of the Bridge or pull aside to let Carter, Yoshida and Meissa take their turns assaulting it. If they had lined up according to plan.

Which Meissa did. She's not stupid.
In fact, she's doing some very agile combat rolls between cover, while taking shots with her Type 33 Star Army Rifle, or when something proves to be a little too durable, a quick blast from her Aether Beam.

To the YSS Kaiyo, Power Armour Bay

Though Navian felt she was better equipped to continue the battle than most of the team, with all her gear in almost perfect condition and unexpended, she wasn't used to ordering others around--and ordering one of her teammates to leave the battle when they could still fight seemed most impolite.

She brought her prisoner back to the Kaiyo's power armour bay, searching him, her, or it for weapons, and dodging what little debris from the battle had made it there so far. All she had to avoid was the Whistler, which was getting dangerously close.

Once she entered the bay, she disabled her CFS, slammed the Docile against the deck, and disabled its power systems, making well sure that the prisoner inside could not use any tricks and was truly unconscious, not just playing possum. Once that was done, she more gently but no less expediently extracted the occupant from the armour. "Prisoner needs a medic and escort," she reported to the bridge.

After the explosion, Carter quickly grouped up with his teammates again, turning his Mindy to face the squad's next target. He swiftly analyzes the remaining Caravan, noting the visible damage to it's engine block. He launched himself forward, following in the set slipstream of the rest of the squad. As they were nearly within range of the Caravan's PD cannons, He transmitted a warning to his teammates, marking the firing arcs of the remaining Point Defenses, and adding special emphasis to the "red zones" where multiple turret's firing arcs overlapped.

Once they were safely through the dangerous portion of the approach, Carter watched the well executed explosive double-tap, then dropped out of the slipstream formation, and followed Meissa's advance into the bridge. He took up position farther behind her, taking special care to cover her blind spots and offer marksman overwatch with his LASR, ensuring that the gung-ho elysian doesn't get any undue surprises from the remaining Pirates.

Yoshida fell in line, reloading her LASR with the one hundred AP round clip as she prepared for her turn to assault, and relaxxed to some degree, sure that this battle was already won. On the aproach, she followed the armor infront of her step by step. She didn't want to have somone else take a PD laser for her but, neither did she wish to be the one that stepped out of line and get melted for it. Even with the relaxing idea they had essentially won, that still flew through her mind, the possibility of a very sudden demise, and a trip to the respawn tube. She decided to hold off and let the other infantry have their chance, opting to serve overwatch instead and take down anyone they missed, training her rifle on the bridge, but keeping a lazy eye on her suroundings incase something especially unexpected came along during the boarding.

YSS Kaiyo,
Power Armour Bay

"That won't be necessary" a familiar voice happily replied to Navian.

"I've already called for medical while making my way down, so they should be here shortly." Sakamoto, still simply clad in her duty uniform, the woman strode over to the power armor clad Elysian with a smile. Though she first stopped short of the two, curious as to whether or not the CFS was disabled, the woman promptly closed the rest of the distance the moment she was certain the tell-tale sensation was not there. The field was, after all, lethal to anyone out of armor. "Once we're certain that our pirate friend here is stable though, we should begin interrogation immediately. Best to strike while the iron is hot after all."

Her eyes ever sharp, glanced over the enemy's form and noticed something else.

"Ara, ara. Disarmed and powered down already - absolutely wonderful," the Ex-Jiyuuian remarked.

YSS Kaiyō, Power Armor Bay

The Elysian and Neko were soon greeted by the medic, who was a stout minkan with a well-muscled pair of biceps and a stern look. He bowed to the SAINT agent and saluted to Navian and then went about checking the pulse of the pirate. He muttered indecipherably and went about pulling the eyelids open on either eye.

"You've got yourselves a human." Glancing down, he stated, "Human and hairy, too." The pirate sported a thick chest of hair that protruded out, clawing towards his face. The medic said, "Let's get him to a containment cell in the med lab, shall we?"

The minkan himself picked up the body of the human pirate and brought him to the containment cell. He popped a stimulant into the pirate's mouth and quickly backed out of the cell, closing the door.

YSS Kaiyō, The Bridge

"Saki," Eden said informally as she put a hand on her XO's. She relayed her next questions to the Chui telepathically, to cut down on time. "I want you to tell me what you think of Mochi's assessment over the situation. The debris both makes it so that they cannot ram us and harder for us to get a clear shot at them. What do you suggest we do, on top of boarding their ship, if this is the case? What would you do if Mochi is correct in his thoughts that they may create a mine field?"

"Mochi," Eden said to the scientist a second later as she removed her hand from Saki's. "Thank you. Your thoughts are invaluable. Any others you may have will be well-received. Santo hei Arnjborg, I want us further from The Whistler. They're still approaching. Santo hei Shan, you may rest when this fight is over. That moment has not yet come. Continue the assault until we get confirmation from the away team that the bridge has been taken."

The Whistler Bridge

Deafening silence was all the bridge crew heard after a sudden movement of air out of the bridge through the hole blown in their main 'window'. The vacuum of space took hold of their bridge and, having not been wearing suits prepared for this, the entirety of the bridge crew all but perished immediately, unable to breathe in the oxygen-less space that was now their bridge. The away team that had entered could see the looks of utter devastation on their faces as their human lives were ended in seconds.

The elysian responds with a somewhat displeased throat-clearing but says nothing. Since she can't target the remaining ship's engines she just starts to pound it with everything she has that does a respectable amount of starship damage, trying to hit as many key sections of the target as possible to whittle them down to nothing.
